IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC sudden doubts
If they are not in English or the local language of the country the US embassy is located, then they need to be translated.

You need to get police certificates from the countries you lived for more than 6 months, and they don't have to be consecutive months. The time of validity of each certificate is designated by each country, so it varies, usually from 6 months to a year.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApplication I-485
Yeah, if he entered illegally, the US embassy won't give him his visa so easily. A waiver has to be filed or he'll have to stay in Mexico for a while unless you can prove that you cannot afford to live in the US without his financial support.

There are several threads here on VJ regarding this issues, especially for people who came to the US illegally from Mexico.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresStill no Interview Date
It could be that the embassy is already booked for January and that means you will have to wait until the first two weeks of January to see if they scheduled your interview for February. But I would call them again on Monday to find out if they did scheduled you today, just in case. And also ask why it has taken so long if your case was completed back in November.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew immigration law!!!!!
I don't think it can flat out be denied and end of story, but it's not an automatic visa either. Remember that there is a lot of visa fraud out there and COs cannot automatically give out CR1 or IR1 visas to anybody who says they married the love of their lives and want to bring them to the US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJune Filers!
I finally got a touch. Sept 18th and today Sept 19th. I updated my address online though yesterday so maybe it was just the updated address that they added to my file. Still feels nice. At least I'm hopeful now.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAddress Update
I changed my address online yesterday and I logged in today to see if I had a new touch like I do everyday at least 10 times. It had been touched yesterday. Does this mean that they just updated my address or does it mean they are actually looking at my case. I saw this topic a while back but cant seem to find it now. Am I just having wishful thinking?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to deal with this waiting journey?
I have not been in this situation long but I find myself doing the same thing. I don't go to clubs anymore, don't go out, don't go on trips but I think it is all worth it. Keeping sane is the hardest thing to do especially when my partner is on the othre side of the world. We go crazy at least once a week and have to talk it out and be strong. I cry alot but feel alot better after it is done. Also, I think my graduate grades have never been better. Trying to do things that are positive is definately the way to go. I feel for you. We have only been apart for a few months and that has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I can't imagine years. Stay strong and have faith. crying.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPreference of Country
It is just an observation. For the June filers thread there are a ton of people who have been approved that have filed the same time I did. It makes me so sad. I don't think that it has been touched once. I changed my address online last week and I finally got a touch but I think it was just to update my address. See to me it is weird that desilu took 8 months and that there are a ton of June 2008 filers that are already approved. I don't think they are competant enough either. I look at almost everbody's timelines to try and measure when I will get mine. The timelines that VJ gives me to compare only gives me one other Aussie's to look at and they filed before me and still haven't seen a change. I don't know. Just thinking...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPreference of Country
It seems like there are some countries that get approved way quicker than others. For instance...I have noticed that Japan gets processed quicker than any others. It seems like Australia and the UK are right around the same times which are about 4 to 5 months. I can understand that there might be some countries that have a higher amount of applications but it seems quite unfair. I mean our application seems like it is much quicker than India for instance. It makes me really sad for the India spouses because it seems like on average it takes at least 6 months. I just don't understand. There are hardly any Aussies that apply for any type of visa. Does anyone know if they have preferential treatment for certain countries? Don't get me wrong. I am happy for everyone that gets a visa but the times don't always add up. On the June thread there are a ton that have already been approved. Still waiting.... And I am even at the CSC. whistling.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIt just kind of hit me!
I think you will be just fine. It is an adjustment period but after you get all of the nervous first reunion at the airport out of the way, you will be sooooo happy. We haven't been able to exactly live together yet except for a few months at a time and every time he visits I feel so nervous like a little kid again. After the initial anxiety, we were just fine. I am so excited for you. Cheers! wub.gif

Did you get the response immediately or did it take a while? I just emailed mine and I didn't get a response. Should I also send a hard copy? Does anyone know? I created the barcode but it is awefully small compared to the place on the form. Should I send hard copy or not?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam
We looked on the Sydney Consulate website and it has the doctors listed that do medical exams in Australia. It says that the exams are good for six months. Is it okay to go ahead and get the medical exam now or do we have to wait for the paperwork indicating that we need a medical exam?

I don't understand. You are past the priority date. What have they told you? That is crazy. Did you have an rfe? I am so sorry to hear this. That must be really tough. I have heard that trying to get into Canada is even harder. Have you thought about that or are you set on moving to the US?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow do YOU cope?
I used to cry alot. As time goes by, it gets easier. This is so strange, but....the saddest time for me is grocery shopping at our local store. It makes me so sad so I now drive an extra two miles to a different grocery store. Other than that, it is okay to cry. Be tough. It does get easier even though right now it probably feels like the end of the world. Just read stories on VJ of people who have been going through this process for over a year. That picks up my spirits and make me realize that we can get through it. Anyhow, be strong and keep up the faith.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage with B2 Visa and then get CR1??
Yes. Be careful with the "living" and "visiting". We got in trouble with that and they took him to the back to question him. Also, we were in the exact same situation. We married while on the VW and then filed while he was still here. He did have to go back though to finish the processing and your girlfriend will have to go back for the interview. But stay out the visa in the meantime. Just don't stay over and be careful when filling out your paperwork.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVSC to NVC
It took close to two weeks for them to receive mine from CSC to NVC. Just focus on making sure that you have all the paperwork and documents you need for NVC. This process goes so fast and so you want to be sure that you have it all packaged and ready to go. They are much more responsive there. I don't think that they will track from the VSC to NVC.

My advice is to follow this from Ling Che...I worked almost exactly
