My husband sent me a signed DS-230 (Part I only) and I dated it before sending it to the NVC.

You should go the the DOS web site to find out what other documents you need to send back to the NVC along with the DS-230. Here is the link http://travel.state..../info_3176.html just go to your embassy and click on "list of documents".

Basically what the question is asking is who else will be needing and/or applying for a CR1 visa who will be travelling with you (the beneficiary).

 Finally. My Case was completed August 5, '07.

Hopefully we can get my husband interview date soon.

Cheers To everyone!

You should call the NVC to find out when your interview will be. They finished scheduling all of the September interviews this week and we got ours for the 27th. Yours was probably scheduled as well since your case was completed before mine.

Congratulations!!!

The NVC schedules interviews with the embassies the second week of each month for the following month. I called them yesterday and they are currently scheduling September interviews since this is the second week of August. You can call them Monday to find out if they scheduled you. If not, then you will have to wait until the second week of September.

Have you called the NVC to find out when they'll be forwarding the I-130 to Frankfurt? She can then call the embassy to find out what interview they should be scheduling for. Either way, she can ask to be interviewed for the IR1 instead of the K3 since you're all done with the process with the NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescase complete?
I called the NVC and the automated system said the date when it was completed. Then I spoke to a live person to find out about our interview and then the automated message was changed on Friday saying that the case had been fowarded to the embassy.

Either way, you can call the NVC and talk to a live person to give you more info instead of having to wait for the letter to arrive.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhich to pursue
Definitely check with the embassy to see how long the process is with them on each visa. But for the MOST part, both visas are running at about a 1-2 month difference. The CR1 is less expensive and by far a much better visa than the K3.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1/K-3 Process questions
I believe you will have to file an I-824 to have the NVC complete the I-130 for the CR1 visa instead of the K3 since both petitions are now there. It has a cost and there is a waiting period for them to process it. Someone else please correct me on this one.

I do know for sure that the process at the NVC for the CR1 takes at least 3 months and that's even with using James' shortcuts, so you still have about 2 months or so and you're paperwork will most likely be at the embassy for a K3 by then.

Jigi,

In all honesty I think the waiting game is starting to get to you and I can't blame me for that since it's pretty painful. But it hasn't been 3 weeks yet since your wife sent the IV bill payment and it looks like the NVC is slowing down pretty hard with all the cases they've been getting since May. If you have confirmation that they received the payment, then it's just a matter of patiently waiting for them to put it in their system. Keep calling them everyday if you have to until you find out when that is.

I don't understand when you ask "And how long it takes to get the NOA2?" I thought you said you were approved already. If you're asking about the physical NOA2, then it could take weeks or even months. USCIS is really backed up now, so don't expect it to arrive any time soon.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion
Hmm... Is Amman the only city with a US embassy in Jordan? If it is, according to the Department of State web site http://travel.state..../info_3176.html this embassy needs the choice of agent to send the following to the NVC (which is packet 3):

Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to obtain the following original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

Birth Certificate
Court and Prison Records
Deportation Documentation
Marriage Certificate
Marriage Termination Documentation
Military Records
Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page
Police Certificate(s)

All documents that pertain to the applicant’s petition are required, even if they were previously submitted to the CIS with the applicant’s petition.

Translations

Applicants must obtain English language translations of any documents that are written in another language.

The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

* Translation is accurate, and
* Translator is competent to translate.

If this is indeed what they need and you didn't send it with the DS-230, you will probably get an RFE. If you do, it would be a good time to start gathering that information now so you can have it ready and send it to them when they ask for it.

Once they complete your case and make your interview appointment at the embassy both, the beneficiary and petitioner, will get packet 4 which is the interview letter.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion
It takes about 2 weeks for them to review it. If they don't find anything wrong with it, your case should be completed in early September and they might schedule your appointment with the embassy the second week of September. Check with them again then to find out when your interview will take place.

You're almost there!!!

hi Mononoke28

i have learnt something new from what you said....do you want to mean that NVC send out the cases to the embassy even though NVC doesn't get the DS- 230 package ? I thought until nvc gets ds-230 package then they send it out to the embassy! CAN YOU CLARIFY THIS MORE PLEASE

No, you need to read my post again, I never said that. For CR1/IR1 visas, the NVC has to complete the case before sending it to the embassy. And they won't close the case until they receive the DS-230 and the corresponding documents. It's different for K1 & K3 visas.

There is no way they will send out a CR1 case to the embassy without processing the DS-230. Your wife needs to call the NVC again to verify this information.

You can find James' shortcuts in the first post of the NVC forum. Make sure to go to pages 1, 10 & 11.

CR1 is a conditional visa for couples who have been married less than 2 years, the beneficiary will get a conditional green card for 2 years and will have to remove conditions before it expires to get the 10 year green card. IR1 is for couples who've been married more than 2 years, the beneficiary gets the 10 year green card automatically.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about police certificate
I agree, it depends on how far you are into the NVC process. It's been almost 4 months since May, so you need to see if it will be 6 months by the time you need to send the DS-230 packet to the NVC.

Diana
Mononoke28FemaleColombia2007-08-30 10:49:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWho Schedule the CR1 Interview Appointment?
When you go to the DOS link, if your embassy is only requesting you send the DS-230 and copy of passport bio data page, then the embassy makes the appointment. If it says you need to send extra documentation such as birth, marriage and police certificates as well as DS-230 and copy of passport bio page, then the NVC makes the appointment before the case is sent to the embassy.

According to the Department of State web site, the choice of agent only needs to send to the NVC a copy of passport's biographic data page along with the DS-230. The police certificate will be needed at the time of interview. Please check out the link below and choose your embassy to make sure and also follow with a phone call to the NVC just to have your bases covered. It may be that they changed the process for your embassy but they haven't updated their web site to reflect the changes.

This is because you are going through Manila and other embassies don't request that these documents be sent to the NVC. The choice of agent needs to check the Department of State web site or call the NVC directly to find out what documents they need to send with their DS-230.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureschoice of agent
It depends. Back in May and even June things were getting worked by the NVC withing 2 weeks, now it's taking them longer, so it's hard to say exactly how long you will have to wait. In my opinion, choosing the lawyer as the choice of agent will delay the process further since the NVC will mail him all the documentation they're requesting, then your lawyer will notify you of this, then you have to give your lawyer the documents and then he mails them back to the NVC. Having a middle man for the process always delays things.

I don't know why I get answers about embassies and how long they take to schedule interviews. I'm NOT asking about embassies or interviews, I'M ASKING ABOUT NVC!!!!

I'm asking about the time between NVC--->embassy.
I'm NOT asking about time between embassy-->interview

I'm also only asking about standard NVC processing, the kind that NVC DOES NOT schedule interviews for.

If someone else reads this thread and starts thinking..."depends on the embassy", please do not respond to (what you think is) my question, but read my questions and all my following explanations and think again.

Thank you for all who tried. I guess this is a question not many people are interested in, so difficult for people to understand what I am actually asking.

No need to yell. Calm down before you give yourself a heart attack. no0pb.gif

If you didn't like the answers all you have to do is do some research. Go to case by case of CR1/IR1 visas and see how long it took. That's all. A little homework doesn't hurt anybody.

No, I'm talking about standard NVC processing - the kind that you send only the Part I of DS 230 and biographic page of the passport and NVC sends the case to the embassy, and the embassy schedules the interview. Nothing to do with the cases where NVC schedules the interviews. So there should not be variability by the country/embassy.

Yes, there is variability based on the embassy, they all don't work in the same way. Some embassies make the appointments as soon as they get the cases and others hold on to the cases until they have an available appointment which could take months, if not years.

Again, it depends on the embassy. With some, the NVC has to wait and hold the case after completion until the second week of the month to make the interview appointment with the embassy and once that is done, they'll send the case to the embassy. With others, the NVC sends the case directly to the embassy after case completed and lets them make the appointment themselves.

Like you said, it all depends. We need more information from you such as what kind of visa you petitioned for CR1, K3, K1? Which embassy you are going through, etc. Without that information, I'm afraid no one can be of much help.

I don't think I understand what you're asking but interviews can vary depending on the case. I've heard of interviews taking as little as 5 minutes when the CO is satisfied with the paperwork submitted and others taking over an hour.

Don't worry about wedding pics because some time the CO doesn't even ask for them or anything else for that matter. Just show them what you have if he/she asks and explain.
