IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCRI visa or K3 Visa
Hi! I am a Filipina. I am married to an American. He is trying to get me to live in the USA. We are confused of what to file. We want a quick process that will take less than a year to get me there. What will be the most suitable to file a K3 visa or CR1 visa. Do someone know how much time will it takes with both visas? and we are receiving bad inputs about K3 visa, they said its already obsolete. Can someone help us on this one base on their experience. thank you alot in advance :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAssembling the I-130 Package - Evidence of Bonafide Marriage
Hi I am a Filipina married to an American. We are now assembling the Form I-13o, and I want to know What evidence/documents we could include for the evidence of bonafide marriage? We do not have any joint bank account, no baby yet, or joint properties. Are the Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havingpersonal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship will suffice? or a photographs? Do you have any other idea from your experience. Do you have any example of this affidavit?

Also I wanna ask if is it okay to staple wire same documents? And you have any pattern i could use for cover letter?

Thank you so much in advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduressteps after NOA1 and NOA2
Good day!

We have just received our NOA1 via mail. I just want to ask what is the next step after NOA2? We are applying for CR1, by the way. Do we need to prepare a form or something? We would like to know so we can prepare it before we received our NOA2.

Thank you so very very much for the help in advance. :)

Hi

Good day!

I would just like to ask, because we recently filed our Form I130 last January to Chicago lockbox and got our NOA1 in the same month with MSC receipt number. Should we also file Form I129?

Or Form I130 would be suffice for us to get an NOA2?

Im sorry, I am just confused with the process.

Thank you so much for the response. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresname check. please help!!
I got questions about names also.

You see, when we filled in the forms for I-130, its usually last name, first name, middle name. We wrote my husband name like this : Bankard Richard Jr. Lee. When we got our NOA1 letter, his name was written like this. Richard Jr. Lee Bankard.

When the name is being written first name, middle name, last name, Junior should beside the last name, right?

Will this affect our process

thank u for ur inputs.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAgency or lawyer in CR1, does it help?
Yeah, i think you are right. I am just wondering if they do have special contact or favor to USCIS to quicken the process.

But i guess u are right, i clearly understand now base on u guys have experieced.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAgency or lawyer in CR1, does it help?

My personal experience is that I believe that having control over my own case gave me a sense of understanding and control over the situation. I also know that I cared about my own case more than any lawyer ever would so i had motivation to get everything done as fast as possible. Luckily, I found this site early in my process so I was aware of the process (sort of) and I did a lot of research. I think mine moved faster than with a lawyer as I could respond immediately to paperwork requests etc... And did not have to wait for a lawyer to get around to it.

Tomorrow hubby takes his oath and becomes a us citizen and I owe so much to VJ for getting us through this!

Wow! Congratulations!

I used RAPIDVISA it does help with the process. As far as speed it has no bearing on speed.

don't lose hope! it will be 14 months from the day we filed the I-130 until our interview. It took much longer than we ever thought it would, but we are nearly there!

Yeah, i hope we could do it that fast too.

I hope i could be with my husband tonight!

Buu u know when u check USCIS every day, it seems like it has been years since we filed the NOA1.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAgency or lawyer in CR1, does it help?

long time lurker, first time poster. We used a lawyer, mainly because each of of our travel schedules for work, we wanted to make sure there was one place the paperwork was being sent to where it wouldn't be missed and someone was sure to act on it. If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't have used a lawyer. We hired a really reputable lawyer and he did an ok job, but the NVC lost one of our forms he'd submitted, and I was the one who caught it, because of the knowledge I'd gained here on VJ. From looking at the guides and reading the forums, I knew exactly how long it should have taken from the date the DS230 was sent until our case completed, and when 2 months had passed with no word, I got all over our lawyer to follow up. Lo and behold, the NVC didn't have a record of it being received. (and I know he'd sent it, he copied us on all tracking numbers, etc) He re-submitted it and within 14 days our case completed. So having a lawyer doesn't mean it's going to be any faster. They can't fast track things, they can only make sure it's done correctly and that someone is keeping on top of your stuff. And the NVC misplacing paperwork somewhere in the shuffle doesn't happen every day, but isn't completely unheard of. Doesn't matter who files it if that happens.

If you have a straight forward case, have clean police records, have a good co-sponsor (or make enough to do the I-864 yourself) and are a detail oriented person, it should be really easy to do it yourself following the guides here and asking questions of the people on the forums to make sure you're doing it correctly. I think you certainly will feel like you have more control over the process if you do it yourself.

It does seem to take forever and there is a lot of luck involved on how fast things get processed. I would look at some of the timelines on here with similar filing dates or NOA2 dates to ours and want to beat my head against the wall. But you just have to take it one day at a time and roll with it. it's a pain in the ####, but you can totally do it yourself. That's my .02 cents anyway.

:) its not really on how to do it. I know i could do it right with God's. This forum has been very informative. :) its the NOA2 am frustrated about. I cant help to get confused.

But i know better not to lose hope.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAgency or lawyer in CR1, does it help?

If hiring a lawyer will REALLY speed up the process, we should have done that long ago. What is an extra couple bucks compared to the agony and anxiety we had been through, but sweetheart, a Lawyer will never speed up the process. It just depends on so many variables like the adjudicator who will do the review, the service centers, the workloads and the LUCK!

It just sometimes frustrating, when u see couples being approved. And you are checking day and night to see a good news. Nt that am not happy for them, coz i am. The process is so unpredictable. Makes my mood unpredictable too

Are you both at the same service center? Just because they finished faster has nothing to do with having a lawyer if that was the case we all would have one Lawyers have no government pull. Your senator or congressman can't get your file through faster.

Did you ask them if they expedite it? maybe they filed from abroad? or was military? Usually its just good old luck.

we are in the same service center. I dnt knw if he was in the military, i dnt knw nothng more.

Does it help? I mean, my husband WAS in military. He just resigned last year.

I hope we get approved soon.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAgency or lawyer in CR1, does it help?

Who files for you has no baring on speed. It's about the workload at the service centers and a bit of luck.

I just want to assure myself if my decision is right. My husband wanted to use a lawyer but I insisted not to. I said its a waste of money since we could do it ourselves. But now i saw a similar timeline like us and we are a few days ahead when we filed but they got approved first and i discovered that they used a lawyer in filing.

So nw am thinkng it may have a bearing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about form I864 and I864A

Hi!

We are on CR1 Visa and we recently got approved. Now, we are accomplishing AOS forms and IV packet.

Im currently unemployed but will be getting a job this year. For that reason I am going to get my sister as a joint sponsor for my wife.

My sister and I are living in the same house but different income tax return.

My question is: What form does my sister needs to fill up,  Form I864 or Form I864 A, or both

Thank you in advance!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter I-130 Question

NVC will not notify you at all. It says about 15 days before NVC receives your case, in between that time u NEED to call about every other day to see if they have received your case early. HOWEVER on your NOA2 it says wait for about 30 days but majority of people its about 2 weeks. Even when they receive your case at the NVC they will NOT notify you, it is up to u to keep checking with them about receiving your case. Hope this helps, you can contact the NVC at (603-334-0700). They will be closed today May 27 cause of National holiday. Good Luck to you and congrats on approval

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on AOS fee

This may sound like a dumb question but when  paying the fee for the AOS packet, is it $230 per case? or since i have a joint sponsor do they have to pay $230 as well? It says per person im assuming it per person being sponsored? I Didn't really stop to think about that earlier when i was reading guidlines. Thank you in advance

Im sorry i meant the IV Packet, it says per person, what EXACTLY does that mean? Im petitioning my wife and i have a joint sponsor. ANy help would be appreciated, Thank you again in advanced

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on DS-230

My wife filled out her DS-230, and mailed it to me from the Philippines. We noticed that one of her company names for her employment was to long to fit in the block, so she abbreviated the company name. We know that abbreviations are no good for addresses and countries, would it be ok to keep the company name abbreviated? or shall i write in the box beside it "See Attachment" and attach the name of the company? I just didnt want it to look sloppy with writing beside a block that was typed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

I am using my sister as a co- sponsor, so i filled her info out on Part 6, line 6a. I am filling out the new I-864 of course and im bit confused on part 6  lines 11. and 12. She has a I-864 filled out, i was told since i am using her income that  we do not fill out a I-864A. So part 6 lines 11. and 12. do i just leave  alone? or does one of them HAVE to be checked?  Thank you in advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032 Question

No PDF its to be sent in the body of the email. Here is the email template from the NVC filers thread.

http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

I also suggest you go to the thread and read post #1 and #2 alot of good info.

http://www.visajourn...lers-june-2013/

Thank you for the response.

We put different subject on the email I sent to the NVC. Instead of Case Number and name, "I put Declaration of Choice of Address and Agent for Immigrant Visa applicant" on the subject

do you think we could re-send the email? would it be a big deal?

Thanks for the input.
