PhilippinesGo with her for interview?
QUOTE (Bryan+Nelia 4life @ Nov 18 2009, 01:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok guys I believe our interview will be here soon, as the NVC sent our packet out to embassy. Im trying to plan for it now. I really would like to go there to help her with interview, packing, and morale support. The trouble is the money will be substantial (I have around a 40k /year job). I would have to buy 1 ticket in advance from Las Vegas around $1000, then buy 2 round-trip tickets for her and myself to Manilla $300 (we need to return to her home to pack). Then the worst part is buying two tickets to Las Vegas with very little advance notice $2000-3000? Probably another $1000-1500 in miscellanious expences. Thats a range of $4300-5800. I have been saving up and should be very close to 6k by january, but do you guys think it would be better to let her do it on her own and save the surplus money for our new life? I know she is a very smart, capable and strong woman. Are relationship is definetly bonafide so we should have no trouble passing (God willing). I would love to be there with her through this whole process especially the flight over here to a new country where she will be totally lost and scared. But at the same time we will definately need money when she gets here. She says she wants to do it on her own, but I know she would feel better with me there, and maybe it would help us pass all the more? I know this isn't easy to answer but I value your opinions so thanks for helping me descide!

Hello guys,

I agree with evemonte good.gif good.gif good.gif as long as your case is not complicated and papers are complete.. your fiancee will be ok and nothing to worry about..by that you can save up money. Had my interview last Nov.13 w/o my fiance. Everything went well. I prepared a long sheet of questions (and answers) prior my interview but none of it were asked. Consul and I were just like talking casually. I firmly believe your fiancee can manage (by herself) and can bring home the PINK slip star_smile.gif star_smile.gif good luck innocent.gif

Philippineshow to put in order in files
Hi!!! innocent.gif

Mine, I just had one clearbook. And I compiled it this way(from first page to last page of the clear book)--
1st page: Appointment/confirmation e-mail print out

2nd page: NOA coversheet then inserted facing the opposite side of the plastic sheet is the 1 and 2 hardcopies

3rd page: Packet3 snail mail from USEM with photocopy of it

4th: printed out a coversheet (again) for FORMS then inserted facing the opposite side of the plastic sheet are the ff: DS 156(2copies); DS 156K(1copy); DS 230(1copy); DS 157(2copies)
note: DS 157 was given to me and validated when I paid the BDO bank for the visa application fee and make sure make one additional copy of it. Paste your visa pix. Don't leave anything blank..type N/A if not applicable.

5th: photocopies of front/back part of my passport

6th: NBI and Police clearance

7th: cenomar and authenticated Birth Cert

8th: Printed out a coversheet for AOS( Affidavit of Support) Form I-123

9th: ITR 2008 of fiance

10th: Financial statements of fiance / Bank Statements

11th: Proof of communication coversheet

12th: phonebills, chatlogs(if there is any.. in our case we just had a 2 long coupon bonds of print out chats only), receipts(can be paste in the coupon bond, too), pictures together, emails, snail mails, e-cards and etc.

note:
I suggest not to put your pictures on a hard bound folder or album or scrapbook.. i had 2 friends whom I met during the interview.. one made a scrapbook and since the over sized scrapbook won't slide-in in the tiny window hole..what she did she tore the pages. Then the other friend had it in an album, she was only asked to choose at least 5 pictures(sayang din). In our case, I just paste all our pictures in a dozen of long bond paper and hand written the dates, location and wrote simple captions. Then I put it in a different brown paper envelope.
** I also put our emails on a different brown paper envelope.

That's it!!! Hope this helps. Good Luck..

go and check here for the required docs CFO

i suggest go to St. Marys instead of PRISM cause PRISM sucks!

i need info from someone that went to prism i read cfo site prism is not cfo thanx anyway

Documents that are required are the same at all the CFOs.
Good Luck.

I AGREE!!!!!...
Btw, had my seminar at PRISM and yes it sucks.. Why ?? because it was more of the BDO (bank) seminar than the PDOS thing.. imagine it took an hour for the BDO staff to discuss bank matters.. uuughhh!!

PhilippinesWhat delivery service does the US Embassy use?
QUOTE (The_Sage1 @ Nov 25 2009, 10:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance lives in Cebu and I'm wondering what mail service they will use to mail out PACKET 3 to her...I know someone mentioned Air 21 but she's never heard of that. I ask because the regular mail she has is horribly unreliable. They don't even deliver it to her door most the time.

Hi!!

I got my USEM letter stating that I can schedule for my interview (i think that's the packet3) via DHL. Air21 is for the VISA delivery. But you don't have to wait for the packet3 snail mail.. once the NVC forwarded the case to USEM, give them 3 days then you can go ahead and start calling the embassy for interview schedule.

She wants to know what the limit is on the amount of luggage she can carry here, as she is thinking of how many clothes should she bring?

What did some of you do? Is there a weight limit on the luggage she can carry?

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions.

James and Erma

If she's flying via PAL, she's allowed to bring the following:
- 1 pc. hand carry [45 inches in dimension (L+W+H)] - 7 Kilos
- 2 pcs. check-in [62 inches in dimension (L+W+H)] - 23 Kilos per piece (for economy class)

HI!!! additional question here>>> will be flying PAL/economy.. 23 kilos/pc?? What if I'll Just have a one luggage check in and will have an excess weight?? That would be still OK? Or strictly 23 kilos per piece???
Thanks in advance..

Philippinespacket 3
QUOTE (PhiLandShiR @ Dec 3 2009, 01:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
All of the packet 3 items are now downloaded. Its unlikely you will get more than the email...

See the lists of things needed here on VJ.

You need to have your tax information for the past 3 years. Copies of your 1040's and W2's, 1099's...

Lots of photos, chat logs, intent to marry letters from both of you, your affidavit of support (I-134), and your girl needs to have submitted her application (the I-156) at the local BDO bank office. ( Costs about $132 USD )

Also the I-157 and I-156K

There are a bunch more things but thats all I can think of off the top of my head...

If you have only a week left before your interview you best get cracking on these!!

Do you have the medical completed???

hi guys! i would like to know if its ok that i haven't gotten any packet 3 from the USEM? Its been almost a month since
I have scheduled my interview date and its next week already. The lady that I've talked to told me to check the USEM website for the things that I need to do and bring during the interview. They sent me an email confirming my interview date and i just printed it.

I'm just curious if there's anything in Packet 3 that I need to send back to USEM before the interview? or is it just a checklist of what I need to bring on my interview?

Thank u.. Your replies would be very much appreciated. God bless

HI!!

It's a checklist and informing you that you are OK to have your interview schedule. SInce you have a schedule already... so you're good to go innocent.gif .. there's nothing in that letter that you have to sent it back to USEM. I also heard about the renewed letter of intent to marry. I asked the attorney who handled our case and said it's not needed anymore. I had my interview last NOv.13 and it was not asked from me. CanadaWedding Details
Well lets see my wedding details are pretty well iorned out. It's been giving me something to do while all this process has been going on.

I have the church, priest and reception site booked. I have purchased and hanging in my closet is my wedding dress, veil, headpiece, corset bra...tee hee...and my maid of honors dress.

I have picked out the invitations (but have not ordered yet because I am waiting on the reception food selection which I am picking out this weekend) I have all the flowers for bridal party and reception picked out.

This weekend my fiance and his mother are coming into town (I told him to bring all his visa papers so he doesn't have a problem getting in to the states, I have been the one mostly visiting him cause i am afraid he wont be able to get "in the door") Anyways hopefully since his mother will be with him and what not and she can say she is here to help plan the wedding he will be alright. So this weekends plan is cake tasting at 2 bakeries, food tasting at the reception place, tux fitting and what not, going to pick out the wedding rings and wedding registry.

After this all I need to do is set the invitations to order with the correct food on the reception cards. Get the limo and DJ and I am done.

I have to say planning this wedding while awaiting for this immigration process has been the best thing LOL. kicking.gif good.gif

MY wedding is set for November 14, 2009. Legal one will be as soon as he comes in right after visa in hand so I am guessing July or August for that. WE need to get on his AOS immediately because we have a trip to Ireland planned with my entire family for the end of December so thats why we aren't using the church wedding as the legal thing.

Hi everyone, we are finally married kicking.gif

So after getting married, applying for SSN, importing the car etc, we are now filing for AOS and need a lil bit of help, there are some "unclear" questions (or maybe it is just unclear to us .. lol) whistling.gif

1: So on form G-325a, there is the following question
- "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:", (and we have the following choices) : Naturalization, Status as permanent Resident, Other (specify) -> 129f petition .. we are not too sure which one to pick
- Also, who should be filing out this form ? The US citizen or the Canadian citizen ?

2: on form I-485
- They are asking for the "A#" .. Is it the one at the back of the I94 in my passport ?
- They also ask for the non immigrant visa number .. which number is it on the visa ?

3: on form I-864
- At question 21, there seem to be a conflict in what they are asking .. they ask for our household size, and specify (do not count anyone twice) .. So if we enter 1 for "Persons you are sponsering in this affidavit", then 1 for "yourself", then 1 for "if you are currently married, enter 1 for your spouse" .. That makes 3 in total but we are only 2 .. so how should we go about filing this one ?

Thanks very much in advance for your help everyone smile.gif

CONGRATS on the marriage!!! Sorry I don't remember which number on my husbands visa the visa number is sad.gif If no answer by the time I get home from work I will look at his for you smile.gif

Did you have to send it to anyone in particular? My husband has been completing the cards he has been getting but they are not to anyone in particular. Plus do they back date the money from when he stopped working or does the money start from when he was approved for the EAD? Just curious, thanks for any info smile.gif

you're lucky they will even consider letting you get a license! Here in CO there is a 90 day waiting period to be considered a state resident. Well that's just great for those of us on a K-1, our I-94 expires on the same day they consider us residents. This means you need to wait until you have your EAD to be eligible. So now I'm stuck with an american debit and credit card in my married name, and all my ID is in my maiden name. Its an annoying situation! So far it hasn't been an issue, but I'm always a little concerned when I use it... I'm just waiting for someone to question me.

OMG ME TOO! I call myself the 'married-maiden' identity lol... I have half (all banking) in my new married name, and my official ID's in my maiden name...SSN, DL, Passport etc.... I don't ave ID to officially match my credit stuff...#######?... I can't even trans my dept store cards to my SSN, cause they want ID...and I can't change a lot of stuff until it all matches...UGH...how annoying lol....

I'm thinking one of two options, I called Penndot (our DMV) today, they have no record of me...so the only place that would have my stuff, is the paper file they started on me at the DMV location I went in to... I could go back there...and maybe ask to speak to a sup? which I did last time, and she pretty much pointed to the woman next to her, indicating she was it, and she looked up and nodded in reassurance that what the first one was telling me, was correct....so where was I? Oh yeah, I could go back there, or a new location....I worry if I go to a new location, that it will flag it as a duplicate application? Hmmm....man, #######!!!!

I say go back for sure, especially since there 7-10 day time frame has come and gone. (Personally it sounds like a whole lot of goverment red tape to me) I wouldn't go to a new location just yet. If you get the run around again ask to speak to the manager. Sorry you are having this problem pop sad.gif

Hello all,

I feel bad posting a question after being absent for so long, but I'm trying to get this AOS out as soon as possible. I don't even know what's going on...I barely have time to be on the internet anymore.
I moved to the States on August 16th, got married on the 21st( YAY!!) and now getting ready to send the AOS package. Here our situation....my husband was laid off. We tried waiting for him to find another one before filing, but it looks like it's taking a lot longer than we expected. Needless to say, we are very stressed about this. We are afrais that I will not be able to adjust because of it. Not the best way to start a marriage, but we always tell ourselves, if we can go through this rough time, sky will be the limit! smile.gif

Now my questions:

1- We'll need co-sponsor, which will be his mother. Do we fill I-864 or I-864A

2- My hubby's currently receiving unemployment. Can we list it as an income?

Thanks for all your answers, and hoping that everything is going smoothly for all of you!

Hey girl, sorry to hear about ur husband's job...that's sucky sad.gif I don't have answers for ya, you may want to post this question under he AOS forum, you may get more resposnes...good luck.

Ok, so I got my AP in the mail today...

I got two copies...does this mean it is only good for two trips? I'm confused why it's two copies, and how do I activate? Do I see them before I leave across boarder or after?

Also, a week ago got an email saying 'EAD card production ordered on Sept 2, give 30 days'...then today I got again 'EAD card production ordered, give 30 days'... What is this?

They are the same email? Or does one mean that card was ordered and the other mean it was mailed out? So confused?

Also, the DMV took my app a few weeks ago and said they were running a background SAFE check to verify my immigrant status...well they said it would take 7-10 days and it's been way longer. I called DMV main centre...they have nothing....I now have to go wait in line at the DMV AGAIN! With no guarantee for a positive outcome sad.gif

UCK, sorry you had trouble at the DMV, when I took my husband to the DMV in Delaware they started to give him the run around as well...but I knew the rules, asked to see the manager and he got his drivers license that day. (The SAFE check, at least here in Delaware, is an instant access program it does not take a week) I say go to the DMV again if they give you a hard time ask to see a manager (politely ofcourse;) )

Well I had a touch on my I-485 on 8/31/2009 after my husbands bio appt and now another one today. Hopefully this isn't our vaccination record RFE LOL.

No touches since 8/6/2009 on EAD or AP but it is still early yet.

MY husband just sent in the vaccination list from his medical appt for the K1. Hopefully we don't get an RFE, but if we do, oh well Dr. Arnold here we come whistling.gif LOL.

happy cloud, I got the same two emails. I was stressed out about the second one. My case was transferred to csc on July 24th. The last time I got a touch was Aug 3. So now I am waiting, I hope the card is on its way ...

Thanks, yeah I was completely confused I assume it meant it was now at CSC but the letter is so darn vague and is longer than what I posted. So thanks for everyone answering, I feel better now smile.gif
