i have been having the same issue over the past few weeks. It is better when my fiance goes to an internet cafe than on sun or smart broadband. I read over the weekend on an expat forum about and american guy who put up a antenna and repeater in his house and his signal went from 1 bar to 5 bar and major improvement on his interent. He said it was around 2000 peso to purchase and install, but did not give details. Good Luck

we have been doing sms text via yahoo messenger for months now via cell phones. It has been free on both ends. just a word of caution, that during peak holidays, networks are really slow in the villages due to everyone being home. That is the only issue we have had.

I have also read that SMART offers a text package for OSW's that you can add 4 phones and unlimtied text to each for around $5 a month. The key is finding a SMART SIM card in the US.

Not sure what you asking? Is there a concern that she has TB or had TB in the past, is that why you want to consider this? I know that if you have chest xrays that are clean, they do not require the test. If you are that worried, have her go to a hospital now and get chest xrays and then sputum if needed. ST Lukes will except chest xrays that are less than 6 months old from a qualifyed hospital. Now that does not mean she will not be re-xrayed during her medical.

Oh well, i hope that I would be able to have my interview on December. Some of my friends was able to schedule their interview 4 hours after they paid their visa..



It took 24 hours for my fiances to work after paying for it at BPI. Try again in the morning. Also make sure you enter the number correctly in the system.

My fiance's interveiw is in the morning, we completed it, I will let you know if they need it. I asked her to ask why they do not want if they dont ask for it.

We arrived at the embassy around 6:30AM. Many people were there that day. The guards did a nice job of rounding people up for the appropriate lines and visas. Our interview appointment was 7:30 so we were a second batch of people to be processed through the lines. We got inside rather quickly. It was maybe 7AM, and we were already inside. The first thing before going inside was to present passport, appointment confirmation, and DS forms (as I write this, the embassy updated to include DS-230 last month, but we never needed it. Strange). We were given our number. The passport was given a bar code sticker and placed in plastic bag. Once inside, we did wait for over 2 hours before our number was called. Since much of the communication was in tagalog, I didn't realize much of what was being told to Jessa. I have read many times to go to window 39 first in the reviews. However, we were never told that. We were just told to wait for the number to flash. Anyway, a greeter kindly explained the mishap to us, wrote our number down, and we went through all the rest with ease. In our case, the first window we approached was the Filipino pre-screener. She asked several basic questions about us: When did you meet? How did you meet? How many times did I visit? When did I arrive for the last visit? The greeter had collected our DS forms since we never went to window 39 for the drop off so the pre-screener had these in hand. She did ask for my I-134 with my most current W2s and 1040. That was it. She asked if we had photos and told us to be prepared to show those along with any other relationship evidence to the CO. We sat back down. Maybe 10-15 minutes later, we were called for finger print scanning. Then, we sat back down for about another 15 minutes. We went to window 59 to be greeted by the CO. She gave us the oath and started asking questions. She asked what year did we meet. She asked me what I did for a living and how many times had I visited PH. That was about it! She handed a flyer over for domestic violence awareness and told us we are approved! The CO and the pre-screener never asked for any evidence. I did front load the petition a little. However, I expected to show at least some photos. Overall, it went well, and we can't complain. We will be together for good very soon. Thank GOD for all success.



Congrats, you were in same group as my fiance, she was hard to miss she was the very pregant one... I just did a check on her passport status and it is already at the Picked Up stage what ever that means

As far as the quick marraige many states have different rules and waiting periods before marriage, Delaware just happens to be 24 hours. We have to rush to her on my health care plan ASAP. I would much rather wait and do a traditional wedding but we can not. Once she gets her green card we will go back to Capiz and have a big wedding for her family and friends

Just wondering from people who have removed conditions if you made another visit to the Social Security office to get a new SS card? The SS card we first got while we were processing our K-1 has a note on the card about restrictions obviously due to the fact that we got the card before conditional residency was approved.

Just curious and thanks in advance for any insights.

We just received our NOA in the mail yesterday but when I went to add our case number to our existing case status account online at the USCIS it keeps telling us that the case number is invaild. Has this happend to anyone else before? If so did you have to call anyone (IT/web support) to get the case added so as to check the status.

Thought I would throw this out there regarding a cruise we've got planned for Aug 2008. We're going to the Mediterrenean (Italy, Greece, Turkey) and we're assuming we won't have our 10 yr GC by then. If that's the case and we're traveling with the expired GC and the 1 yr extension NOA leltter and a Mexican passport will we need to get visas to enter any or all of the countries we'll be visiting? I'm assuming these countries won't accept an expired GC so if traveling on a Mexican passort...how does this work? Does any one out there have personal experience they can share?

I wanted to see if any one had experience with moving after receiving their NOA1 and completing their biometrics. My husband and I are moving from MA to NJ in a few weeks and wanted to see if people have been successful mailing in an AR-111 and I-865 and it not negatively impacting time to approval....if you have a story please share.

My husband and I filed our I-751 at the end of Nov even though we would be moving. We didn't end up moving until Feb and submitted our change of address info (me - the sponsor - by mail AR-11)(my husband - online). Our case appeared as *touched* online shortly after so I'm assuming this is because they updated our address. I'm assuming all is well now - but we did ask the post office to forward our mail from our old place to our new place so if they do mess up it will hopefully find us.

We almost lost hope for November slot beacause we thought the next sked available would be December. Just so I got the snail mail OCt 26th and it says we are eligible to set an interview. My fiance just tried calling the USEM to make an appointment and luckily we're given a Nov slot. But Dennis is right call the DOS or even NVC, once you know the day/date they sent out the papers to USEM and you're given a case number with MNL xxxxx call USEM right away.. don't wait for the letter..

Just had my medical-- Nov 5&6.. better wait for the panel physician's review/decision. They'll ask her about her medical history. Tell fiancee to bring her medical records and x-ray (if there is any for reference).. medical examination cost $213 point something(payable in pesos).

btw, I followed the VJ's suggestions, tell her (like what I did) to go to the clinic 12nn it's much faster than going early in the morning.. was done less than 3hrs in the first day process star_smile.gif

@heis: it really depends.. attended last week at PRISM we got in 9:30am filled up some forms and finished up past 1pm.. prior the seminar there was the BDO people convincing to open an account blah blah blah mellow.gif maybe at st. mary's they don't do that thing,lol!! Don't forget to bring some important doc's, just in case they'll ask it from you (like some were asked photographs together with your partner).

hi robbie jeannet,

in reference to your question(that is if you meant during medical) the st' luke's usually is the one who forwards the passport to embassy. don't forget to photocopy the front and back page. you need new NBI(be sure it's new or at least 3mos old copy), NSO birth cert(get at least 2 of those). have it photocopy for personal reference. after the interview they'll return the originals.. and if not mistaken the passport will be delivered together with the visa.

Hi to all,

Got a question regarding the CFO sticker. How long is the waiting time for the CFO staff will release the sticker?? Can I have it in an hour or two?? Our plan is to go there on the same day I'm going to US. My itinerary will be-- leave Davao at 9am, arrive Manila by 11am, then the connecting flight will be at 10pm. Do you guys think-- the time allowance is enough to get the sticker at CFO?? Or should I stay in Manila for a day or two just to get the sticker thingy??

Btw,I passed my interview yesterday(friday d 13th kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif ) everything went smooth.. staffs were accommodating.. the pre-screener and the CO were EXTRA NICE. I never expected that it would be that easy.. I mean the CO just asked me 4 simple questions ((i.e. how&where i met my fiance. My fiance's work. Do i promise to marry within 90days of my arrival and the dates of his visits..) then he said something like, "your papers are in order, congratulations your visa is approved and welcome to America good.gif kicking.gif good.gif "))

Hi Chris and Aes,

You don't have to wait for the snail mail from USEM(though in my case we waited and got it over 2weeks) it'll take longer if you'll wait for it. Most of the VJ members didn't wait for the mail. You can call them now. I was told right after the NVC forwarded the case to USEM, you can start calling the embassy after 3days. In your case it's been 2weeks, that means you or your fiancee can call them and have your interview schedule. Then she can have her medical,too.

Yes ok lang mag seminar/pdos even wala ka pang visa. I had my seminar first week of Nov., wala pa akong visa nun. Hindi kelangan ang itinerary ng fiance mo pero alamin mo lang ang home address, phone #,middle name ng mom nya..kasi nsa form yan na dapat mong fill-upan. With doc's to bring, just bring additional doc's like a couple of pix together and any of your important (personal) doc's kasi minsan hinihingi nila.. A photocopy of your I.D and or passport,too. With reference sa interview, hindi naman nakakatakot. Kasi counselling yan,so may mga tanong lang regarding sa inyong dalwa. Pero if your 24 years old and below, you must bring a parents consent letter..na tipong approve sila sa relationship nyo.. pero sa CFO 'yung stamp/sticker you must have your passport/visa with you.

I agree with evemonte good.gif good.gif good.gif as long as your case is not complicated and papers are complete.. your fiancee will be ok and nothing to worry about..by that you can save up money. Had my interview last Nov.13 w/o my fiance. Everything went well. I prepared a long sheet of questions (and answers) prior my interview but none of it were asked.
