Happy Wednesday...it's downhill from here for those of us that work mon thru fri...yippeeee...we like downhill biggrin.gif

Esmat went for his medical appointment in Amman this morning and it was very crowded in the place. He called them the day before and they said he didn't need an appointment. However, without an appointment, he could not be seen today because there were too many people. He waited from 11am until 4 when they closed and was told to come back tomorrow. They made an appointment for him this time, at 11a....so he gets to get up tomorrow morning and take the 3 hour ride back into Amman-again.

Nothing else going on with me except waiting for Friday..... whistling.gif

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL

Hi Kristin,

Nice to hear from you. Glad to hear things are going well for you with your new class. Thats wonderful! And the salsa dancing sounds like fun...what great exercise!!

Esmat just called about his medical...despite having had gobs of immunizations done at the hospital in Irbid, he needed several more...and has to go back for two more on Sunday....all in his #######..hehe.... He said it was very crowded again at the doctor's office but he got in with no problem since he had an actual appointment this time...although it did take him like 5 hours of waiting and in and out for the different procedures, i.e., xray, blood being drawn, etc.

Now that it is lunchtime I find that today is not dragging half as bad as yesterday....thats a good thing!!

Have a nice afternoon all!

If I had a nickel for everytime I told my husband to "git out of mah kitchen!!!" I'd be a rich woman. smile.gif He's always trying to add a lil of this or a lil of that to what I'm making!!!! He does the same thing to my 12 yr old. Everyday her and her sister come home and she makes them a lil snack, like hot dogs or a baked potato or sometimes pasta and she said he's always telling me to put "this" in or "that" in so now she says "get out of my kitchen!" too! laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

laughing.gif That's cute. Thanksgiving Day is the only day that my father tells all of us to "git outta kitchen!" Us ladies (me and mom) and whoever else back away with hands up in the air... Good memories smile.gif

Happy Thursday everyone. My "first day" back to work yesterday was great. I'm looking forward to the new quarter at the University, and had a great first class at the adult school -- it so full! (Wish that I get paid per student not hour.. hmm... it's enjoyable at the very least). Went salsa dancing last night with some girl friends. I was practically running around on the floor -- everyone says I danced great *huffing and panting as soon as I finished the dance* hehe

Hope all of you have a great day!

Hi guys my fiance went for his interview on Monday the 15th of Septembre, and he was told that he was put on AP. That did not bother us because he was not really planning to come over until the second week of December. Yesterday Thursday the 25th he recieved a letter from the embassy stating that his AP has been cleared and was asked to forward his passport to the Embassy via the courier. Roughly it took us 7 working days in AP. He was a bit worried as he had 5 police certificates from different countries, so that was not really a problem.

Have a nice day people!!!

Thanks Jackie and Ash good.gif .....I appreciate your ideas...and I am thinking along the same lines.....gosh...I can't wait for Esmat to get here so he can be in charge of all this stuff....I can see wood swelling like that because it is very porous..and it is wood frame, wood sub floor, wood parquet....and it was looking so pretty when I had the carpet laid 2 years ago.

No matter where you are in the world you will probably be able to hear me scream when my dad pulls up the carpet tomorrow morning...hahaha!!!! I will be screaming for one of two reasons....1) BUGS blink.gif OR 2) $$$$ Realizing the expense to fix this. Whatever it is...I can tell the floor is ruined and will definitely need to be replaced.....around that area anyway..oh boy. wacko.gif
I can't stop thinking about it....

Happy Thursday!! It's my Friday since I am taking the day off tomorrow....due to the problem below....

Wow I guess I am lucky....slept with my windows open last night in my room...and yea it was a little chilly esp being all alone whistling.gif

I live in Delaware and its fairly mild through October....we will need the heater though I am sure before the end of the month.

I woke up this morning to see that the large "hump" that I discovered 2 weeks ago in my family room floor has now doubled in size. Its in an addition family room and now about a foot away from the first one there is another one developing. It is appearing next to a wall that is facing outside. This is something under the good carpet, good thick padding and wood parquet flooring. Something is pushing it up!! I step on it and its not giving like its soft so I am thinking whatever it is is under the wood parquet floor too..... It is about 3/4 of a foot wide and about 2 feet coming out from the wall. The big one is now about 4-5 inches tall and growing. I haven't pulled up the carpet yet to see what it is...I am terrified. I asked my son to crawl under the house today and take a look....I have a pest company coming tomorrow to take a look...anyone have any ideas on what this might be? No signs of termites.....and to add a strange twist...when I looked at it last night and this morning it had a bunch of (dead) bugs in the corner of where this is happening...probably 60 of them..and they look like the gray bugs you see when you pick a rock up from the ground and they are under the rock living. Well...somehow they got involved and crawled in and died there...or is it their nest thats under there? eeeewwww...I have no idea...all I know is its freaking me out and I am scared to pull the carpet back to look...I have to wait until someone that can deal with it is onsite...and thats not me..haha...I have been alone in this house for 7 years and have conquered all types of home owner type issues...this is the strangest and most perplexing. What is it???????

Any ideas are welcome....I am taking the day off tomorrow to meet the pest company there and having my dad come over to help me with whatever it turns out to be. eeewwwwwww blink.gif I hate bugs!! If thats what it is...I can't think it could be anything else.

So...Happy Thursday to all...and let me know if you have ever seen anything like this before!!

Middle East and North AfricaWhat?!?! No Friday thread yet???
Happy Friday and weekend to all!! biggrin.gif

....Turns out its a leak...Jackie was right. good.gif ....The bugs came in from the outside because of a crack and they were drawn to the moisture of the wood where the leak was.

Its not fixed yet unsure.gif

But I have contacted the roofer...since the roof is only 1 year old and asked them to come out and see where the water is coming in. Nothing that can't be conquered fairly easily...just gotta fix it and move on to the next surprise!!

Its Friday and I am home today....to take care of the leak problem and just get some fall cleaning done...

Wow Bridget...lucky you!!! I hope Esmat surprises me like that someday!!

I will have my granddaughter with me Saturday...as I do every Saturday while her mom is working (oh..and I was just informed she is expecting again-wow that was a shocker). Other than that just working around the house and spending cam time with Esmat. Haven't seen alot of him this week because of Eid. I told him to go enjoy and savor the moments with family and friends at home..for his last Eid there before he moves on to his new life. Plus his best friend got married this week so they have been gathering all week for that in the village common area..and today he was expecting 100 people to his home for a dinner that he is hosting before the wedding party. Haha...he told me that he bought 51 chickens for the event. I can see him now going into the chicken store in the village and ordering 51 chickens from the chicken man haha. He hired a chef to cook everything so his mom can rest. That was sweet. Haven't talked to him yet today to see how it went.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!! Unfortunately I have to leave you now and go clean my attic. I waited until cooler weather to tackle this job and today's the perfect day. But still I don't want to go hahahaha!!! Def gotta bring some music with me to get me movin!!

Middle East and North AfricaJordan CR1 Interview
I would definitely take the copies....what if something got lost in the transition from NVC to the embassy? You don't want to risk not having something you need....I put all of the documents for our case together and its not that much paper. Better to be safe than sorry. A little folder with the documents are important to bring...I am suggesting copies...many take originals of everything because they got extra copies, i.e., birth certificate, police certificate, etc.

Hey everyone thanks for the response..

@ esmatsgirl

Do I really need to take photocopies of everything? I mean, looks like if they didn't get it in the package then its not their business in the first place? I'll only take a selection of new pictures and ticket stubs for a trip we did to istanbul.. as well as some photos from different visits and trips.

Middle East and North AfricaJordan CR1 Interview
I am currently preparing my husband for his interview next Wednesday. He will take in with him the following:

Interview letter (important)
2 passport photos
Sealed medical file from medical exam
Copies of all documents previously submitted to the NVC including tax transcripts
Copies of my passport pages with Jordan visa stamps showing I have visited Jordan since the wedding
Photos of wedding and us together during visit several months later

The 4th package is the interview letter. Whoever is the "choice of agent" will receive this. I received it for my husband. He did not get a copy of this, although they did say he would be notified. I am guessing he is notified through his agent...which is me. He has not received anything from the Jordan Post on this yet. I scanned the document and emailed it to my husband so he can print it and take it with him. It indicates that you must take the interview letter with you for the interview or it could cause major delays.

With the 4th package (interview letter) you get the list of documents on the last page that you will need to bring the originals of. It is a checklist of what was already sent to the NVC and what is still needed. All of our documents were submitted to the NVC with either the I-130 (original petition), I-864 (financial form) or DS-230 (visa application) so my husband will not need to take any originals with him...just copies of the originals that were sent.

I hope this helps. I will be updating the forum after my husband's interview to let you know how it went with this list of documents.

We got our interview letter in the mail even though the NVC staff said we didn't get one.. so, whatever..

I wanna ask if there's anyone else who's done a CR1 or going to soon to help prepare for the interview, I heard about a forth package.. is it the mail that we recieved? or what, we all know how "awesome" the mail system is in jordan so how do I go about finding what do I need to do?

I filed all the originals to the NVC including the general intelligence paper, do I need something else from the police ? or is that it?

I'm doing my medical check in the next few days. and then the required vaccination ( Human XP Service Pack 2 devil.gif ).

Middle East and North AfricaTuesday's Thread!
Happy Tuesday!!

I had gallbladder issues back in 2000...it was such an excruciating pain, I will never forget it. I stayed up night after night rocking back and forth and was told I had indigestion by my doctor at first...only to take prilosec and still suffer with attacks....one night I was up all night and the next morning I showed up at my doctors office and demanded an ultrasound immediately. Sure enough..bigger than marble sized gallstones...3 of them was in there.

I scheduled the surgery 2 weeks out...found my surgeon- "interviewed" 3 of them and found a great one...and...oh gosh...he was the picture perfect man....so handsome, friendly and talented too!!! Thats not why I chose him...it was strictly based on merit but how lucky could I get!!! It was nice to go to sleep and wake up to his face smiling at me...haha...and I couldn't wait until my follow up visit 2 weeks later!!!! He did an excellent job...and took some pics of my gallbladder after it was out - they sliced it open and shot some pictures to show me the gallstones.

Adjusting to foods wasn't bad afterwards...I read all kinds of things on the internet how I might have problems digesting certain types of foods, etc...and that did not happen to me. I don't think my body ever noticed it missing.

I do know its one of the worst pains I have ever felt...a heating pad (on high) on my stomach and/or back helped a lot when I was having attacks. I hope those of you with gallbladders aching get some relief soon!!!

hi
i want ask if the medical exams fees have recently changed, because i talked to the doctor secretary today to set an appointment for me, she asked me to bring my passport My ID card, 3 photos and fees are about 2 hundred dollars unsure.gif , i've heard that the fees are around just 1 hundred Dollars...what doctor u advise me ? Thanks much.

The fees for all of the medical exams are listed on the different Embassy's websites usually under "vaccination requirements" section. They list the names of the doctors you can go to and the cost. I think it also says something about let them know if the doctor tries to charge you any other fees. For example, here is the page for Jordan:

http://amman.usembas...?SectionId=1290

The Amman Embassy's page as you can see is very clear about what will be done and what it costs and who you can go to. You should see something similar on your embassy's page.

Some doctors I guess take advantage of potential immigrants by charging too much. Look up your consulate on the Dept of State website and find the info there....it will tell you what you need to know. You could also email the embassy and run it by them to make sure its ok if you are still suspicious.

I am still looking forward to the party tonight even if I have to come in and out with work and can't concentrate on anything today knowing that tonight my time at 1am Esmat will be arriving at the embassy for his interview. Gave him his last "pop quiz" of interview questions...which he passed with flying colors....he is ready to go!!! hehe...I have fun playing embassy consulate officer with him!! laughing.gif yes.gif

I am wondering how long it will take him....and what time in the middle of the night I will get the phone call when he is finished.....God please let this go perfectly smooth and easy for him....so we can be together asap!!!

I will be here a lot today because my concentration level is down the tubes!!

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Hi There...

I was wondering where you went!!

Don't be nervous....my husband said that the man was very nice to him and it wasn't bad at all. He had a bunch of ideas in his head from things he heard from people but none of it came true.....everything was fine.

Best of luck to you!! Let us know how it goes....and post your interview experience here for others if you can...there are several coming up with Amman interviews that I am sure would appreciate knowing about your experience.

Best Wishes!!

Hey Sweet Peach,

No, he didn't get his physical visa today. He has his interview and was told he is approved. They took his passport and 5 JD for the Aramex fee and told him they will call him when his visa is ready to be picked up. They told him it would be ready within 2 weeks...hopefully it will be 2 days!!

Thanks everyone!!

Yeaaahhh....gosh the feeling of relief today is incredible....it feels so XXXXXXX great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I still have 2 things to be semi-anxious about.....waiting for the actual visa to be in his hand....and waiting for his flight to get here....he hasn't scheduled it yet...we are playing it safe and waiting until he has his passport back to schedule anything. Flights are readily available within a day or two so I think we will be ok with him getting it scheduled quick once he gets his passport back.

Ash- You don't know how bad I can't wait to go hang out and chat with ya while the guys chat and do argeelah and just relax with a gigantic smile on my face and true happiness in my heart because I will finally be LIVING AGAIN!!!!

Hmmm...I smell my dreams coming true...they are sososossoso close now!! kicking.gif kicking.gif

kicking.gif kicking.gif I am extremely happy to announce that Esmat's visa was approved!!!!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

His interview time was 8:00 a.m. I talked with him before I went to sleep at 12:30 a.m. my time. I figured I would hear from him around 4-5 a.m. My alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. and he still had not called....I called his cell phone which was still turned off.....then called his brother's phone that I know was waiting for him and just as I called his brother Esmat was returning to the car from the embassy!!! He was in there for 5 and half hours waiting...for an interview that took no more than 15 minutes.

Esmat said when the interview started he gave the consulate officer everything he had brought. The man quickly glanced at it. He asked Esmat:

Why did you get married to Debra?
Where does Debra work?
Do you know about Debra's 2 children and what do you think of them?
Do you have pictures of you and Debra together?

The man asked about the pictures but he did not look at any of them.

The visa was approved and overall Esmat was very satisfied with his interview at the Amman Embassy...except for the extremely long wait.

And now I can't believe my sweet husband will be here soon!!! I have missed him so much our whole first year of marriage.

Thanks to all for your support, laughs and the comfort you all provide just by being there for me and each other. I know our experience would have been a lot harder if it weren't for this site and all of the advice and things I learned from reading through the forums and talking to others here. You guys are great!! I am not going anywhere, by the way!

Have a great day!
