^Yep. My girl was 20. She had a notarized consent form from a lawyer....the USEM never even asked about it. As a matter of fact, they only looked at about 5 pics of her evidence, out of about 5 pounds of evidence she brought with her. If your case is solid, don't sweat it, it's simple.

The officer at your POE is supposed to staple the I-94 to your passport.

As you stood in line at your POE after you got off the plane, you should have been filling up a form. Maybe you even got it while you were still on the plane. Its been so long I forget just where its given out.

I think My Shirr got hers from a stack at the desk of the POE officer...

The options were to press one for Filipino, two for ACS, and 3 to continue in English. I pressed 3 and received a message in filipino. I think it was asking me to the pin number you are suppose to get, but I don't know how you get the pin number.

I know from the USEM website to get a pin for $18 and to have my fiancee's case number.

So, my question is. How do you get the pin and reach sombody to set the appointment date?

Hello,

I am a newbie here and hopefully can get responses to everyone. I will have my interview on June 22, 2009. Hopefully if there is anything you can add on the documents that I am preparing please let me know, so I could be reminded by it.

I have 2 folders with me, first is the folder for my partner fiance and me. This includes: Affidavit of support, ITR 2007-2008, W2 2007-2008, recent pay stubs/ earning statements, divorce papers/marital settlements, bank statement/checking account. School documents since he is presently a student.

His other documents: birth certificate
in case in case: co-sponsor paper (I know the USEM is not accepting it, but this is just for a secondary purpose for a special case, we'll see)

My papers: Forms DS-156, 156-k and 157, appointment letter, St. Lukes vaccination worksheet, birth certificate (NSO and city civil registrar), NBI and police clearance, certificate of birth of my kids (NSO), Annulment papers (finality, registration and annotated MC copy from NSO) employment papers and school papers.

The 2nd folder contains all the proof: boarding pass/ itinerary on the 1st and 2nd time he came to visit including receipts and cruise tickets), emails from 2006-2009, chats and logs, phone records, global remittances, snail mails, and photographs of my partner and me, my partner and my family, my partner and my kids.

I guess that is it. Please, if there is anything that I miss, do tell and I appreciate all of your efforts in reading this thread. Thank you and God bless!

You modified a government document and falsely submitted it to a foreign government...

Please let me know the law that allows you to alter a photo for governmental submission? Last I checked no citizen has the authority in any way, shape or form to do this....

You better pray to God its never discovered. If so, the passport is invalid and your friend is in prison. And if they happen to say your name you will be there next to them.... for a long, long time...

Greetings to all,

Doug here. Well Dylan and I couldn't be any happier.....things are going great...just issues with the paperwork and AOS stuff. So Dylan entered this country on Jun 30th via Chicago. We married without problem here in the US on July 7th. We applied for a social security number on July 9th. At that time we were told she was not showing up in the system yet..and that it normally takes two weeks.....( she had only been in the country for 8 days at that point ) ..so we should have her social mailed to us in about a month.

We stopped by today to check on the status ...( at the local social security office ) .and they can't verify her in the system still as of yet. Now today the lady said...we usually tell people it may take two weeks to show up...but it actually can take 30-45 days. I can't really complain cuz Dylan is here with me..but you guys know you REALLY need a SSN here for just about anything. They agreed to put her on my medical insurance today without one..but said they need it asap.

Also just a funny story to add........ one time i decided to call the number they gave us on a piece of paper from the Social Security office..to try and check the status that way. Our paper has a reference number that you need to use for security purposes. One worker there told us to just call and use that number and we could check the status no problem........... however I got a girl there on the phone that kept insisting that I giver her Dylan's social security number to get any information. I actually had to say to her.. " listen to what your telling me...and tell me yourself if it makes sense..my wife is TRYING to get a social security number..yet you keep telling me I must give you her social security number in order to find out if she's getting a social security number.........

As always Godspeed to those on this journey......

Ahhhhhhhh gotta love working with government offices...

Hi everyone. Based on a recent x-ray (not part of the visa process), it's likely that my fiancee will require a sputum culture when she does do the medical portion for the K1. That is per her doctor who read the x-ray. We are wondering if she can go to St Lukes now to request the culture be done so the results should return earlier and not slow us down for her interview. We understand the sputum culture takes 8 weeks.

Has anyone done this before and, if so, was there a problem inputting the results into the medical examination if the rest of the examination was done at a different time?

We are hoping to get our NOA2 by the end of this month or early next month. Then the regular medical examination done the middle of August, if nothing else slows us down. We want to be proactive and not wait since it appears this will be required anyway. She will go to St Lukes to request the test (after seeing a pulmonologist there), so the results would be from their own lab.

Any help, advice, etc would be appreciated!

Once you get an interview scheduled in Manila they send an email to your SO and I requested they send one to me as well.

With this email in hand you get the medical going.

As far as other papers... yes, you do need papers to submitt at the interview.
Those you can download using the links supplied here at VJ.

Other than a snail mail letter to your SO that says the same thing as the email, I do not believe anything else is sent....

So Phil - when you used the Lawyer - can you tell your experience?

I am afraid there is little I can say thats nice about it....

The instructions I got were vague. They stated I shouldn't wear glasses in my passport style photos. To me, Shouldn't means generally not.... Well I am Required to wear them in my driver license photos and I was Required to wear them when I got my passport years ago so I assumed (me bad) I should wear them for the photos I sent to the lawyer... Bad move... 3 WEEKS after I FedEx'ed them I got a letter back saying I could not wear glasses....

If they meant COULD NOT, why did they say Should Not ??? To me those 2 have VERY different meanings...
If it was not allowed I should have been told DO NOT wear glasses...

I got the Letter of Intent to Marry from him with the instructions to "have Shirr sign it and send it back" to him... So.... I scanned it and email it to Shirr. She printed it, signed it, scanned it and emailed it back to me. I printed it and sent it on the the lawyer...

You guessed it.... That also came back to me with the statement they needed an original signature...
That was not stated in their instruction letter...

So... now we are 3 weeks into this process and still counting.... My FedEx'ed paperwork had set there on someone's desk for 3 weeks before they even looked at it....

Now I needed to have Shirr reprint the Intent Letter and snail mail it to me... That took another 4 weeks to get to me... Now we are down almost 2 months from the start...

I mail in the new letter and off it goes to the lawyer. And I wait................

Almost 2 months later and a number of emails that were never replied to, I finally call the Calif Service Center to check on progress. I get told, we sent your NOA1 letter off you your lawyer of record a month ago.... I finally got a copy of the NOA1 a week later...

So now we move on to NOA2.... I set myself up in the USCIS.GOV website to get emails and that worked out really well. I get NOA2 email the morning I am leaving to spend Christmas and New Years with Shirr, the best gift I could ever have gotten!!! I am gone for 2 weeks and when I return I still have no notice from the lawyer abbout NOA2... well, 2 weeks later I get a letter from him saying, Oh, we got your NOA2....and I needed to submit a I-134 back to the laywer.

Between NOA1 and NOA2 I found this site, I had the I-134 forms completed and packed long before I went over at Christmas. I hand delivered them to Shirr when I was there. I sent an email to the lawyer saying I did this. I never got a reply...

A few weeks later, about the end of January I had her interview and medical all set up and we were just waiting for the clock to run out so to speak...

After her medical and 2 days before her interview ( Feb 6th) I get another email from the lawyer saying I could call Manila to start getting things going there. I replied we had completed the medical and the interview was scheduled in 2 days.... I never got a reply....

To them its just another piece of paper, to me and my beloved, it was a whole lot more....

I suppose in a few years it will be funny but for now its a sore still trying to heal.

Hang in there. You have your entire life ahead of you to laugh about all this. blush.gif

I also used a lawyer. Mostly cause I was not aware of this site before I filed.

As far as the lawyer goes...

You need to remember one thing. For you this K1 is a lifetime event, for the lawyer, its a task on his to do list.

I am not suprized at all to hear that the application was tabled while this guy went on vacation and you had to pitch a major ###### to get another to work on it. After all, it would only be another task on the 2nd guys to do list and I expect his was already full...

A lawyer is not going to see this process as anything more important than paying bills on a Saturday afternoon is to you...

As for you, its an event of biblical import...

Its all perspective...

Please do not think for an instant I share his opinion. I know how you feel and understand the pain completely.

Just hang in there, Have faith and it WILL work out! good.gif
