PhilippinesLooking for Tourist Visa info
Well... I guess that could be... But she is getting older now and has a whole bunch of children back home as well as a husband. She would not have any skills to work over here so I am not sure if there would be any reason for her to want to stay here in the US.

I guess we can only try...

QUOTE (Bob 4 Anna @ Sep 29 2009, 11:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A Tourist Visa is a completely different creature.

I believe you can apply directly at the USEM Consular & Visa Services: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3024.html

The I-130 is a USCIS (US Citizen & Immigration Services) Form and the B2 Tourist Visa requires no interaction with US Citizen nor is it an Immigrant Visa.

FWIW, having a US Citizen and US LPR relative might actually work against her in this case. She will have to show that she has significant ties to the Philippines, why she wants to visit the US and that she'll have financial resources to provide for her needs during the visit. As you will most likely host & support her that will cover the financial resources but it can also be seen as a good reason for her to not return prior to the expiration of her Visa.

Applications for Tourist visas do not include an I-130 at all.
check the USCIS website for them ,They are called B-2 visas; and sadly it might prove quite difficult for mom to obtain one. She needs to prove enough ties to the PI so as to not present "immigrant intent" bla bla bla.... you know the drill.
she applies on her own; but you can always provide a letter saying you will take care of her financially while she is there.
Good luck smile.gif

PhilippinesLooking for Tourist Visa info
Hello everyone,

My wife would like her mother to come over for a vist sometime this next summer. Not to stay but just to visit. I have looked over the site here and all I find is based on Immigration and her mother does not want to do that. She just wants to visit for a few months.

I also searched over the USCIS.GOV site and again, only found stuff for Immigration.

Does anyone have a link or know what I need to do/tell her mother?

I am pretty sure she will need to file the same I-130 (?) that Shirr did and to have an interview at the embassy but I know there are other things needed as well. Passport, proofs of some sort... ???

Has anyone been through this before?

I started this post here because its Philippines specific information I am looking for. If it should be some other place, please move it there.

Thanks

Phil

Very well done!!

Not hard to find, Phil. Any store that sells a good selection of vitamins and supplements should have melatonin cheap. good day everyone! id like to inquire about medical, cfo and interview stuff..im on a k-1 visa...

i will have my medical sched on oct. 20-21...my questions are:

1.) what will i bring with me aside from my PASSPORT, 4 pcs. 2X2 PICTURES WITH WHITE B/GROUND, NOA1, NOA2, NVC, APPT. LETTER(USEM), my XRAY FILM, OTHER MEDICAL RECORDS LIKE VACCINATIONS I had...will i still include my folder with other stuff needed for the interview since i am also planning to attend the CFO seminar in Manila....

2.) for the Interview--how many copies of each identification paper ( NBI, NSO, etc.) will i produce?
And is it ok to have the interview even without the mail /letter from USEM..my fiance called today and already set an appt. for oct. 28 .. perhaps i need ur assurance that the usem letter may not that be of significance since i got an email from USEM for my appt...

3.) for form 157, there is a part there asking for the countries ive entered for the last 10 yrs...will i include the trips i made in asia even if its only for 3 days?? will they check my old passport to verify this info??

so far, these are my queries..i hope u can help me..thanks and god bless u

daisy

1) you're ok w/what you have. no need to bring interview reqs, except personal info about your fiance (for the form that you will fill out)

2) one of each is safe, 2 is better (sometimes weird things happen like embassy staff misplacing what you just submitted) you need the interview appt letter (that's your pass to enter the embassy, security will not let you in w/out it)
don't forget to pay for your visa application prior to interview (that's the first thing you will show/submit once inside embassy)

3) yes you need to include each and every country, no matter how long each trip was, otherwise you will be withholding that information from them and result in a lot of "whys" during your interview

thnks zenden for the reply...
i feel relieved now...but about the appointment letter, after fiance called today, USEM ryt away sent me 2 emails informing about my interview date....i printed it out..so i guess that can substitute the packet 3...my luck if packet 3 will arrive days bfore my flight to manila for the interview....but as uve said, appointment / interview letter will do..wish me luck...

Philippinesw-2 and tax transcripts
I sent my IRS transcripts with Shirr for her interview. The lady at the pre-screener window did not understand what the transcripts were. She insisted that Shirr needed to submitt my 1040 tax forms. Shirr tried to explain that the transcripts were the same thing but the pre-screener did not accept them. She did stamp them but refused to keep them. Shirr was told to show the transcripts to the counsel if asked. Shirr was never asked and we still have the transcripts with the offical stamp and I expect some where along the way we will need to show them.

Shirr got her visa and is here with me and just got her Green Card a few weeks back.

If you have the same troubles as Shirr did just do as Shirr did and I expect all will be well.

Thieves may have gotten away with robbing an Oklahoma home last weekend if it hadn't been for an eyewitness who saw the whole thing from more than 8,000 miles away in a bizarre case police said "CSI" couldn't have scripted better.
Share
A woman helps solve a robbery at her Okla. home while living in the Philippines.

Maribel Chouinard was at her computer in the Philippines when she spotted three burglars on the Web cam that she leaves on 24 hours a day to keep in touch with her husband back home in Oklahoma City, Okla., police said.
Chouinard's husband, Air Force Master Sgt. Jim Choinard, was not at home at the time. But the Web cam was apparently on when the would-be robbers "jerry rigged the window and came through," Jim Choinard told ABC's Oklahoma affiliate KOCO. Maribel Choinard was asleep near the computer, when a loud noise from the computer woke her up, Jim said.

She watched the thieves enter the home before the screen went dead, when apparently they nabbed the Web camera as part of the loot.

Maribel immediately called Jim who then relayed the report to the police, including a description of the thieves.

When Jim told emergency dispatchers that his wife was reporting the crime, dispatchers asked if she was in the home.

"No, she's watching it over the Web cam from a different country," Jim responded according to Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes.

Before Jim got home 10 minutes later, police had apprehended two teenage suspects, one of whom was "shocked" to see police, Clabes said. Police caught up to another suspect who fled the scene to a nearby neighborhood.

It's really wild," Clabes told ABC News. "Obviously she's 8,000 miles away. It's pretty amazing she solves a crime in progress in Oklahoma... There was no doubt we would not have solved this crime most likely without her."

"I don't think a Hollywood writer for one of the popular CSI shows could have script it better than this," Clabes said.

Police told ABC News the three suspects, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old, also were in possession of items from two other robberies.

The three were charged with second degree burglary and will appear in juvenile court.

We attended the interview yesterday. Our appointment time was 8:30am. We arrived at the embassy at 7:30am. Because of the preperation from this website we had no real surprises. After finger scanning, Mae met with the prescreener. I couldn't see what was going on but I was getting nervous because she was taking a long time. When she moved back from the window a little, I saw she was laughing out loud. When she came back to the seating area she told me it was just like having a conversation with a new acquaintance. They were laughing about some of our photos and the fact Mae has a college degree in Automotive mechanics (dont ask, its a long story).
The only slight surprise was that when Mae was called for the interview, they immediately told me to go in with her. I was under the impression that the petitioner wasn't usually invited into the actual interview. He swore Mae in and asked her how we met. He asked me why I was in the Philippines back in 2006 when we first met. He then asked me about my previous marriage and children. He asked about our wedding plans and when we would leave the Philippines. He then said we were approved and congratulated us. We were done by 10:30am.
Thanks to everyone on this website for your contributions.

Iowa may be cold in the winter but the people here are much nicer all year round from those who live in Texas. I feel sorry for anyone who is required to put up with the small minded people there.

Shirr is 5'2" and weighs about 100 pounds. She buys Extra Small when she can find it or just Small if not. She wears a thermal shirt and leggings under her shirt and pants and keeps very warm.

We are planning to head out to the local hunting and fishing store to get her a really nice winter coat in the next few weeks. Get one that is rated to Zero and I bet Pat will be just fine.

Good luck, I really hope she can be here by Christmas. I will keep my fingers crossed!!

Closer you get to X-Mas the more expensive the ticket gonna be. My wife if flying from DFW to MNL , Leaving USA first week of December, and coming back to USA the 20th of Dec. She paid $900 roundtrip, she purchsed the ticket about 2 months ago online.

Well I am hoping the cold air will not be to much for her just coming from a hot summer day into winter. December in Iowa can be moderate to bitter cold and snowy. Maybe I should see about getting her a flight from MNL to DFW then on to Cedar Rapids instead of to Detroit or Minneapolis then to Cedar Rapids. I guess I will wrap her in my parka when she arrives. I am finding the most direst flights are a little over $900.00 one way.

I took some online classes with team members in Texas. I know how in the dead of winter in Iowa it can be almost a cool day in summer in Texas. I would like to retire in a warmer climate than Iowa like Texas or Southern Colorado.

Thanks and God bless,
Dale

I used a service because I did not know this site existed until after the process was well underway. Knowing what I know now, I would not use a service again.

Its not that the service I used did anything wrong its just that they were not as into this as I was. To them it was just another stack of papers to process and to me it was my life.

What does it mean when a Filipino tells you 'it just happened' when they did something like spend too much or was gone too long or whatever? wacko.gif

i think it means there was a shoe sale.
