PhilippinesQuestion for all who live in the Seattle area

Hello everyone!

I am entertaining the possibility of a job in a small town just north of Seattle.

Can anyone give me opinions on life in Seattle? The surrounding area?

Any one live on the north side of Seattle?

My wife wants to get away from the cold here in Iowa and I would expect that its warmer up Seattle way as we just got done with weeks of below zero temps...

Thanks!!

PhilippinesQuestions about F2A and F2B classes.

The son/daughter would be considered unmarried and eligible for F2B. as stated in the previous post, they will need  to remain unmarried throughout the entire process. the petitioner will need to have a copy of the death certificate of the son/daughter's spouse.

This was the information I was looking for!

Thank You!

I agree with you but the child is not married... any more....

Nothing I have found places a time limit on the being married part.

Its kinda one of those things, you either are or you aren't...

I cannot find anything in the laws that address's this issue.

PhilippinesQuestions about F2A and F2B classes.

I have been reading up on the laws about who fits in what class of visa.

I know that a green card holder can petition a spouse, a child under 21 and a child over 21 who is not married but cannot petition a child over 21 who is married.

But what about a child over 21 who is not married....   any more...?

What about the child over 21 who has had their spouse die?

This child is technically not married.

Do they become eligible to be petitioned?

I cannot find any ruling on how this child is to be treated.

Does any one have any insight on how this would work?

thanks!

PhilippinesHas anyone been able to call NVC?

Hello All!

I have been trying for a week now to get a call into NVC and so far its always busy signals!

I am calling 603.334.0700 at different times of the day.

Is this still the correct number?

Just wondering if I am having bad luck or something has changed...

thanks!

PhilippinesDNA and immigration atty.
  • All men have one X chromosome which they pass to all their daughters. By testing the X chromosome in two sisters we can see if they have the same father.
  • This DNA test is 99.9% accurate

If the child in question has the same father as the mother in question they are sisters. But if the X chromosome is different they have different fathers.

Does not prove or disprove they are not sisters as dear ol' mom could have been messing around but its a place to start...

PhilippinesDNA and immigration atty.

DNA would prove blood relation but not degree of relationship (mother-daughter or siblings) hence it will be very unreliable evidence considering USCIS already thinks you are related to her.

Maybe you can send them the evidence you submitted to correct the BC

Good luck

This depends...

Collect DNA from the child.

Collect DNA from the Mother

Collect DNA from the child's Father

Collect DNA from the child's grandmother.

Collect DNA from the child's grandfather.

IF, IF!   the child has a DNA marker that is only shared with the Father and NOT the Grandmother or the Grandfather, would prove that the child's Grandmother did not give birth to the child and thus the child could not be the petitioners sister. Unless the Grandmother is into really younger guys of course...

Just food for thought...

If the child is a son, just use mitochondrial DNA....

PhilippinesHELP PLS, question on online interview appointment (K-1 here)

You're mother-in-law is the one processing now correct?  Is she part of the Yolanda expedite?  If not NVC will do the scheduling for her.

No, Mother-in-Law petitioned her daughter. Neither were part of the Yolanda expedite as far as I know.

However, because we requested this petition be expedited due to daughter aging out, the petition was send to Manila on the 19th.

It appears that we will need to schedule the appointment.

PhilippinesHow many slots are available each day for US Visa Interview (Manila)?

When you see a date like that at the left of your screen, that means there is at least one interview slot open and you can click continue to schedule your appointment.  To schedule your appointment, you need to click schedule appointment (or continue) at the top left of your dashboard.

Nope, there was no Continue option.

Just the banner that said no appointments available.

As of late "how many slots open up"...... NONE!   Just keep checking the left side of the dashboard when you are logged on, that is where the first available interview date will show up, if nothing is there... then keep checking... persistence and patience.

I get this the attached but cannot figure out how it gain access to the time slots...

Well... I called the Embassy last night and was told that an interview could not be granted as the application was not current. I said that it was current when it arrived in Manila but did not get far with that line of reasoning.

It appears that unless my senator can make a big enough fuss, there will be no visa for my sister-in-law.

That's the quirk I have mentioned in the other thread. The left side area says 'next available appointment is blah' but when you to click thru the menus, it says no available appointments.

Those appointments you see are most likely for returning residents and not 'regular immigrant'. Most days they get 9 slots and most days none get used up. This was the explanation I got from their call center.

The lack of interview schedules has nothing to do with your casefiles being there or not.

Unfortunately, the only way you can can get an expedited interview is using the email. This way they can verify if your physical case files are there and potentially grant you the interview. apple21 is right though, it does take them a few days to reply.

Thanks! That bit of information clears up a lot.

So the only way I get an interview is thru the email process?  That bites!

Well, I have sent emails to start that process so I guess I just sit and wait.

Seems like I have spent so much time sitting and waiting that I will wear out my butt...

And they only read from public information on the website.  Faster to do it yourself.

I would love to do it myself however every time I get to the last page to schedule an interview, it says none are available.

I mean it says that time slots are available on the left side but it will not allow me to proceed.

I wonder if this is because the case has not been entered in to the system yet...

Since you expedited, have you tried emailing the embassy directly? You can email them at IVMNLAppointments@state.gov

It's a long shot since the embassy can't really do much without your casefiles and only a day left in May for interviews but why not.

I have not tried this yet.

Wait another week, then contact the embassy again as it takes two weeks on average for them to "receive it" (it could be there now but sitting in a stack waiting to be entered).  Personally I don't think the embassy will send it back.

I hope not...

I was really hopping to confirm an interview date before the June first roll back...

Philippineslatest Visa Bulletin regression

Good Morning To All,

I see the June Visa Bulletin shows the priority date regressing back to May of 2012 from Sept of 2013.

This brings up my question.

On the 19th of this month, NVC sent my sister-in-law's I-130 visa application to Manila.

This was done under an expedite request as she will age out at the end of July this year.

Because of the expedite request, they did not schedule her interview, this is being left up to the Embassy to do.

Once June 1st rolls in, her priority date will no longer be current as the date has regressed.

Will Manila promptly send her application back or will they grant her an interview?

I called Manila and her files have not yet arrived.

I have confirmed with NVC that the file was in fact sent out on the 19th.

Any thoughts?

-Phil

Unless you are a Yolanda expedite (or DCF) you do not schedule your own interview, NVC schedules that.

My sister-in-law is not a Yolanda expedite but she did get her I-130 application expedited.

NVC is not scheduling her appointment.

It appears that we will need to get that done from here in the US.

Unless I am not understanding how the expedite process works....

PhilippinesWestern Union Money Transfer

https://wumt.western...extSecurePage=Y says they are using 43.623, but current market is 44.5.  So you lose 877 php, or about $19.71 on the transaction (plus fees).

So its not free....

20$ is a pretty healthy bump.

My fiancé really wants me to be there at his appointment with him.  I also would love to be there but I just don't want to have to wait a long time for his visa bcoz I have to get back to my work here

If you are not a USC I do not think you will be allowed in the Embassy.

You could wait outside but that would be as close as you get.

For me it means the actual visa is issued (the sticker they put in your passport) and they are processing (cross checking the visa and the passport and the address to send it to) before it is delivered.

What other 'status' besides ISSUED could be displayed?

It could display REFUSED but I doubt you'd get/want that. For you, the last status is ISSUED.

I was thinking maybe 'Administrative Review' could be one that could still happen...

Well the ISSUED date that will show on the visa is the date of that notice on CEAC, and yes it has been issued... just not delivered... you know... check is in the mail. ;)

I hope so. This has been a long battle for my wife and her family. Many heartbreaks and tears.

End of next week would be the delivery date then.

Will the status change again?

Like maybe 'In Transit' or 'Out For Delivery'  and such?

-P

Yes that does mean actually issued, and that is the issued date.

It still needs to be printed, packaged and pickup by 2GO, but it has been issued.. just not delivered yet.

I do not agree...  Just because they have authorized the visa to be issued does not mean its actually issued.

I view it like the IRS, just because they authorize a refund, it does not mean the check is cut.

I know this simply means "We have authorized issuance of your visa", which is good.

I understand this means its not actually issued.

Sister-in-Law had her interview Wednesday and was told to go home and wait for her visa in about 10 days.

they kept her passport, only asked 5 questions, Do you have a new CENOMAR, whats your age, who filed for you, what does she do in the US and.... I forget the last one...

They did not require a new CENOMAR just wanted to know if she had one. She did not.

Now we wait 10 days and see what shows up in the post.

Anyone know how long it takes before https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx updates?

PhilippinesThis is an odd one for sure

Good news that priority dates have moved forward again. My mother-in-laws (MiL) I-130 petition for her under 21 daughter, is once again current.

The big problem is:

I have discovered that there are 2 priority dates attached to her petition.

USCIS issued a 02DEC2013 date and forwarded the application on to NVC.

At some point while at NVC, the priority date was changed to 02DEC2012.

We had asked Senator Grassley to see if he could get the application expedited because my Sister-in-Law was going to age out at the end of May 2014, and his office was able to get this done for us. We were not told the request had been approved until it chanced to come up in a call to NVC so communication between us and NVC is/was and has never been the best.

The petition was approved and sent over to Manila.

While we were trying to set up an interview, the priority dates regressed, as we all know, and the application sat in Manila for the past few months.

While sitting there, I discovered this priority date anomaly.

I have called NVC about this and they said it was not a problem but I could call Manila if I wanted and see if it was a problem for them.

I am planning to do this tonight. I did call and schedule an interview and there was no problem seen or found at that time.

The major issue I am seeing is that MiL only arrived here mid November 2013 so a priority date of 02DEC2012 is before she ever arrived here!! She could not have filed the I-130 before she arrived!

Has anyone ever seen this type of thing before?

I did contact an attorney and the only advice I got was call NVC and Manila to confirm everything was all good to go.

Is it possible that the expedite request cause the date to change?

Any thoughts from anyone on this would be greatly appreciated!

PhilippinesAnyone missing vaccinations from St Lukes?

Hello,

When I Sister-in-Law had her medical she was told they, St. Likes, was 'out' of 2 of her required vaccinations and that she should call back on Oct 9th.

So she did.

And was told that they only had one of them in stock at this time and she could schedule a time to come back and get that one.

I do not see any others commenting that they were missing any vaccinations from their medicals...

Any ideas on what is going on?

She was told that she could get them here in the US and while that is true, we paid for them there at St.Lukes and getting them here in the US will be pretty pricy...

Is it normal to be 'out' of meds like this?
