Okay... Got it!... As for me, I will not send them money and will just tell them that I am having trouble here and I can't help this time. I must say that in general, Filipino families are a bit sucker with their family living or working abroad. They will always ask money no matter what, when you tolerate them doing that to you.

Anyway, this is just suggestion. What if you laid back a little bit, tell your wife not to send money when they needed it. They will start figuring things with themselves. Give them a lesson that you are not just picking-up money outside your backyard, you work hard to earn it, and you have your lives here to work on too.

Whenever we tell Claudeth's family we can't afford to send them money I imagine I see their eyes glazing over and then a little later they are asking for money again. It seems they don't listen to something that they don't want to hear blink.gif

My sweet little Claudeth is a wonderful, giving woman but is also the most irresponsible person I have ever met in my life. I never seen anyone melt a bar of soap before but she does it. She can plug up the shower drain quickly and just loves to take 30 or 45 minute showers twice a day. She leaves the lights on constantly and the refrigator open all the time. She will fill her plate full of food and eat about 1/4 of it and the rest goes in the trash.

I am totally at my wits end. I have been dealing with this for 4 1/2 years but have made no progress in teaching her conservation. I love her very much and would never dream of getting rid of her but have been thinking of sending her to the Philippines for a visit.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have heard comments off and on but nothing consistant with what my little consumer does.

PhilippinesFor those who petitioned a parent
Hello,

This question is for those who petitioned a parent(s) after becoming a USC.

I see from the CSC web site that they are processing I-130's in about 5 months.

After a petition is approved, what happened next?

Can anyone provide me with a timeline and description of events that happened next?

Did your parent need to travel to Manila? Did both parents?

Was a Green Card issued at the embassy or what?

How much time did all this take?

I am trying to get an idea of how much time was needed between approval and arrival here in the US.

Thanks!!

-Phillip

PhilippinesFor those whos parents have arrived here in the US
Yes I have, thank you for the link.

Please explain how you arrived at the 2.5 year wait.

I am still looking for information on LPR mother petitioning her minor child.

-Phil

First allow me to direct you to this site. You have posted similar questions elsewhere so maybe I can help some. Once your wife becomes a citizen she can petition for her mother to come to the US. The process is similar to bringing a wife to the US, she will file the I-130 petition and assorted other papers, pay the fees, the mother will interview in Manilla, if approved she will receive a VISA, after she arrives in the US she will receive a green card.
After the mother arrives she may petition for her children If they are unmarried. For the Philippines the wait is currently 2 1/2 years for children under 21 and about 10 years for children over 21. The child protection act may come into play depending when the petition was filed and the age of the child at the time but in your situation, having to wait for the wife to receive citizenship (about 1 year) and then petitioning for her mother (about 1 year) the children will probably be over 21 prior to a visa becoming available for them even with CSPA.

Everyone who wants to immigrate to the US must go through the process and receive a VISA. After their arrival in the US they either file to receive the green card or it is mailed to them automatically after their arrival. No one gets a green card at the embassy

PhilippinesFor those whos parents have arrived here in the US
More questions!!

After your parents arrived, is it correct to assume they had a Green Card in hand?

There was no visa applied to their passports? They entered the US on a Green Card?

Or did you need to apply for Green Cards?

Is there a time restriction on how long they need to be here before they can petition their minor children to come over?

If so, how long?

I see that the CSC is taking about 5 months to process the I-130s.

After they are approved. what happened next?

Can anyone provide a time line on the events that occur next?

Did the minor child(ren) need to go to Manila?

Were Green Cards issued there or did they just get passport stamps?

Thanks

I do not think so...

This is one detail I am looking for information on...

can you petition both parents at the same time.

i thought once they turn 21, the petition is cancelled already?

PhilippinesWrapping up Removal of Conditions
This is what we want to avoid at all cost!!

I believe we can get the mother in time so she can petition her daughter BEFORE the younger daughter turns 21.

I think once the younger daughter turns 21 its a lost cause.

We are banking on getting the papers filed before the younger sister turns 21.

-Phil

Can the mother petition the daughter if the daughter is 21 years old or older?

I think so. But I'll bet it takes a lot longer.

I hope someone will chime in about this issue.

PhilippinesWrapping up Removal of Conditions
This is good news then. It gives us another few months of time.

From what I see, we would have about a year of time remaining after her mother gets here in which to #1: get her mother a GREEN CARD and #2: petition the younger sister.

AS I UNDERSTAND IT... once the petition for the younger sister is filed and accepted, the clock stops ticking for the younger sister. She could turn 21 and it would not matter. If she were to get married of course, she is no longer going to be able to come here under her mothers petition.

Am I correct that the clock stops for the sister??

-Phil

1.She can apply her US citizenship 3 years from the date of residency stated in her conditional green card.

2. 6 months to a year.I have had several friends here who petitioned their mother.I am planning too next year to get my mom.

3.The mother can petition ur wife's sister as soon as she gets her permanent residency here but not sure how long for the mother to get her other child .

4.It is possible ..could be less or more depending on the financial situation of the petitioner plus the availability of legal documents needed.

PhilippinesWrapping up Removal of Conditions
Hello Everyone,

My wife is just finishing with her Removal of Conditions. I expect she will get her new 10 year Green Card in a few months. We just completed her bio-metrics.

She wants to apply for USC ASAP after she gets her new GC.

On the N-400, Part 2, it states she can apply for USC after she hits her 3 year mark as a Legal Permanent Resident.

SO...

Question ONE, what date is used to start the count on the 3 year time period?

After she gets her US Citzenship, she wants to bring her mother over here.

Question TWO, how long does it take for a petition to bring her mother to complete?

After her mother arrives, her mother wants to bring her child here. Her child is my wife's younger sister.

Question THREE, how long does it take for her mothers, child petition to complete?

The reason for these questions is that my wife's younger sister just turned 18 years old, she is not married. If she turns 21 years old or gets married, she can no longer be petitioned by her mother.

SO...

Question FOUR, can all of these steps be completed in the next 3 years? Or are we just wishfull thinking??

Thanks!!

Phil

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask something regarding my mom's case...

My Aunt, who is my mother's sister & a citizen, filed a petition for my mom many years ago.
My mom was in the Philippines at that time but later got approved for a working visa here in the U.S.

Right now we only have a NVC case number regarding my Aunt's petition.

Recently, my mother received a letter from NVC which is asking her to fill up the DS3032/Choice of Agent.
Also, my Aunt/Petitioner received an email from NVC asking her to fill up the I-864 and pay the $70 fee.

We are now clueless on what is happening right now regarding my mom's case.

Any advices and help will be much appreciated good.gif

Then, I have individual page folders for her appointment letter, NBI and police clearance. I'll replace the MNL you can see on the cover letters with the case number after we get one. The file folder photo came out pretty bad but you can see the individual folders in the front. I used the ideas of other members here to put it all together of course...so thank you all smile.gif I'll send this to her via DHL once we've received the NOA2.

Not true:

http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/6149279

J Pharm Pharmacol. 1984 Sep;36(9):578-81.

Passive inhalation of cannabis smoke.
Law B, Mason PA, Moffat AC, King LJ, Marks V.

Six volunteers each smoked simultaneously, in a small unventilated room (volume 27 950 litre), a cannabis cigarette containing 17.1 mg delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). A further four subjects - passive inhalers - remained in the room during smoking and afterwards for a total of 3 h. Blood and urine samples were taken from all ten subjects and analysed by radioimmunoassay for THC metabolites. The blood samples from the passive subjects taken up to 3 h after the start of exposure to cannabis smoke showed a complete absence of cannabinoids. In contrast, their urine samples taken up to 6 h after exposure showed significant concentrations of cannabinoid metabolites (less than or equal to 6.8 ng ml-1). These data, taken with the results of other workers, show passive inhalation of cannabis smoke to be possible. These results have important implications for forensic toxicologists who are frequently called upon to interpret cannabinoid levels in body fluids.

This is true but its also a very gray area as to what constitutes 'drug use'.
I believe that the courts have said that to be a 'drug user' requires multiple long term usage...

To have experimented in the past does not make one a 'drug user'.
And to ask "Have you ever used drugs?"

I would answer NO, for I may have experimented in the past but that's not 'using' drugs. I understand that many would not agree with this statement.
An example might be, a person walks into a room where people are smoking marijuana, because a person must breath its for certain that some will be inhaled. Does this make this person a drug user? I think not. But it still allows a blood test to be positive.

Not everyone lives in a black and white world...

Not even USCIS....

You have to work really hard to get a positive blood/urine test from second-hand smoke that would indicate one smoked it and not just inhaled it second hand. Prolonged inhalation in a non-ventilated area may show some THC, but the cut-off level for a positive test is high enough to rule out false positives due to passive inhalation. So it is black and white....if you smoked pot, and tested positive for it, then the answer is "yes" you have used drugs.

And USCIS does live in a black and white world...drugs are drugs and testing positive for having used them is something that could disqualify someone from being issued a visa.

I am not encouraging people to be less than truthful. Not now, not ever.

Talk to a Christian or a Muslim or a Hindu or Buddist or a Jew. You will get many 'truths'.

The point I make, and what you blind yourself to, is that truth can be subjective.

Objective truths are things like gravity or the speed of light.

Objective truth remains unchanged, no matter what you might think.

Subjective truth is based on what you think.

When you sign the DS-156 forms it states that: "the answers I have furnished on this form are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief."

Subjective truth.

Based on what you think!

Its not a tidy black and white world.

Perhaps you need to spend some more time reading law and less time quoting it...

to me there's a difference between intentionally using them and walking into a room where people are smoking marijuana.
to put no when obviously one has intentionally used drugs in the past is dishonest.

QUOTE (TayRivers @ Dec 9 2009, 09:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
To even sugest that anyone should lie/fudge or any other name you wish to call it, is not only a very silly thing to do but it is also against TOS of VJ.

You may believe it is ok to be less than truthful with USCIS but you will not be the one who could have major issued further on down the immigration line if the misrepresentation come to light.

Please stop telling people it is ok to lie, white, black, little or big it is still a lie..

Tay

Visa Journey Moderation Team.

I have not and will never suggest that anyone lie.

I simply state that this issue is not as black and white as you would seem to think it is...

Until you can explain how you see a difference while the blood test does not, must be explained or the issue is unresolved.

If you insist on talking the talk, then walk the walk, and state that both people, the smoker and the walker are both drug users and as such should both get a lifetime ban.

The smoker deliberately and willfully smoked the drug and the walker deliberately and willfully walked into the room.
Don't start in with the walker might not have known the smoker was there or was smoking because that puts us right back to the start again.

You have already excluded from consideration what their mindset may have been by insisting this be a black and white issue.

I state again and have always stated, this is NOT a black and white issue. If you insist this be a black and white issue then condemn both or accept the label of hypocrite.

You can not have your cake and eat it too.

Good Luck!!

Tell her to be honest in all her answers.

Now is not the time to be shy. Make sure she speaks up if she can't hear or does not understand a question.

We all expect to hear good news in a few hours!!!

This guide used to be pinned, but since the OP never updated it the pin was removed. The guide is still accurate except for the Doc verification and DELBROS is now Air21. Hope this helps.

I am confused as to when are we going to submit those sheets..I have searched through the threads and I found out that in one of the recent medical exams of one of our members, she/he was asked to submit a DS-156. On the contrary, based on the instructions of the Manila Embassy regarding the St. Luke's exam, the paying of the Ds-156 was never mentioned. With regard to the experiences of some members, I have seen some of them not mentioning anything about it.

Does this mean i have to pay the visa processing before the medical?

Do we have to send it to the embassy for assessment?

Hoping for your patience and understanding as I have posted lots of threads already tongue.gif I can't stop thinking about it kasi eh sad.gif

those sheets (156 and 157) are for your interview . you don't need those for the medical. but you do need to pay for the visa application before your interview schedule. also, it's the 157 that is brought to BDO (among the banks you can pay at)

what you need at the medical are the one-time fee, visa-appropriate ID photos (2), interview appointment (photocopy is ok) passport, personal information about your USC fiance/husband

good luck and god bless!

I think your SO need to take the 156 form to a BDO bank and pay a fee of about $132 USD. the bank will stamp the form as paid and this form, along with the other DS forms, will be submitted to the pre-screener when your SO has the interview at US Embassy.

If I am wrong about this I am sure someone will correct me.

Is it better to let my girl go to the CFO seminar alone rather than have me present ?

They won't let you in.

They try to portray they guy as bad, he will keep his girl as sex slave or turn her into a prostitute.

They used to, and may still try to get you to submit a percentage of your US paycheck back into the SSI in Philippines.

Bottomline, The CFO is a one of the last way to suck some money out of you........

Take LOTS of pictures and keep evidence of the trip. All helps in showing you guys have a bonafide relationship. Trip in April will help also.
