PhilippinesI Need Your Help Guys

I am a US Citizen and I was petitioning my mom to come over here in the US.   And now she has an interview sheduled this month.

So I'm here wondering if anyone could share what kind of questions the Manila Embassy staff asked to your parents during their interview.  I get nervous thinking about my mom specially she doesn't really know how to speak english:)  I really appreciate your input guys.  That would be so helpful for my Mom's interview soon.  Thanks a lot guys!

When did you file your I-130?

When did NVC fianlly approve your petition?

We are doing the same thing but NVC just backed out of our interview date and called the interview letter we received 'a mistake'.

Did you confirm that you actually have an interview??

Birth Certs for everyone. Maybe 2 copies each.

All education transcripts, diplomas and such. From high school to college!

Any medical records you can get.

Family photos!!

Shir left those behind and really misses them. I wanted to get all of them scanned and on to disk because many were starting to fade. Some family members have passed away and the photo is all that is left.

Mine is a simple story.

I was on Vacation in PI a couple years ago, I took my clothes to a local family to get them washed and cleaned.

I came back the next day and some one had stolen my clothes, Since I felt like something was not on the up and up, I secured thier youngest daughter as payment for the clothes that were missing.

LOL..Nice one rofl.gif

I was not joking........ mad.gif

Send her the money and let her purchase the ticket.  Or contact San Rafael Travel   http://www.santraphael.com/home.php   and purchase the tickets online, they are in the Phils.  They include the travel tax in the airfare so one less counter to stop at in NAIA

PhilippinesCase complete!!! How long until we get interview date??

We found out our case is complete at NVC yesterday!!! How long can we expect to wait until we find out our interview date??

We are waiting too on a I-130 application.

NVC jsut completed it this week.

I would expect to hear about an interview date in the next week or so.

All depends on how the flooding hit the Embassy there in Manila.

PhilippinesWhat the hell is going on with NVC???

Hi, we have the same fate.  My parents interview date (Oct 3) also got cancelled and for reasons we dont know.  We called the NVC and they said that they sent the email by mistake (NVC doesnt make mistakes; they even are the ones who looks for an error in the documents that we file)..

Question:

1.  Can we use the same letter to proceed with the Medical examination at St. Luke's?

2.  If we proceed with the interview, will US Embassy Manila reject us?

3.  What's the best way to approach this?

We plan on calling the NVC first thing in the morning.  I need my parents with me because I have a son who will be having a heart surgery.  He's only 4 months old and I would like them to be with me for support.

Sorry to hear about your son. I hope all goes well.

I do not know if you can use the letter or not.

I would not do it just to avoid screwups but its your call I guess.

PhilippinesWhat the hell is going on with NVC???

Yes but wouldn't the embassy know if your appointment was cancelled? They phone call sounds fishy. Call the embassy or call NVC and tell them that you got a strange call and want to confirm that it came from them.

We did call NVC and NVC did confirm that we had no interview scheduled.

The email was 'a mistake'

It sucks!

PhilippinesNeed to get CENOMAR or not?
Its always better to have more paper than asked for and not missing one they want to see...

If you think there is even a remote chance...

-P

All is falling into place for the interview at the end of February. I do have a question about whether or not my fiancee needs to get a CENOMAR, since she WAS married. She has the marriage certificate with the annotation on it concerning the court decree of annulment, so as we unerstand it, she does NOT need to get one.

I've read where some do get a CENOMAR...

Any advice or further information? I could call the U.S. Embassy again. :-(

Philippinesanyone have their POE in San Fran???

Hello people I started to look at flights today.....I was going to drive to Los Angeles to meet her but saw for $15.00 more I can fly her to Phoenix.....I have never been to San Fransico airport would it be confusing for her there? How are the terminals set up???

Our POE was San Fran.

Not any troubles. You will need to gather up your bags and walk down the street about a block then go up a flight of stairs to gain access to the departure side of the domestic terminal.

You are not clear on which airport you are going to... Los Angeles or San Fransico....

If thats the case, make sure you have your reciept with you.

I see, I already asked the teller about and she said that starting January 25 (yesterday) they no longer stamped the DS-157 form,. She said that it was the new procedure for the NIV.. I'm just worried just like you said.. will cause delay on my part.

Jakriss (sage1's fiance) and I have the same interview date and she just informed us earlier that she already got her visa. As soon as I knew about this, I immediately entered my tracking number in the air 21 website but it gives the same result over and over again "tracking number not found."

What are the chances?

Philippinestraveling to the Phils. while on AOS
Do NOT leave the country until you have your Advance Parole approved.

-Phil

We had our civil wedding ceremony in the US last week and we're now putting together documents needed to file for AOS and Advance Parole, hopefully we will be able to file it next week. We're traveling to the Philippines in May for our church wedding. I read somewhere that I don't need to change my old passport (it's valid until 2013) but I would like to know what other documents I would need to bring with me aside of course from the advance parole.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Philippineslooking for a recommendation for a good hotel in
Thanks for all your suggestions.

I had dome some research and the Bloomfield was on the top of my list.

I will also check out an apartment.

We want to be close to SM mall so anything outside of walking distance is not really workable for us.

-Phil

My fiance and I stayed in this hotel for more than a week last May 2009... have a try.. it's nice, close to everything with the reasonable price.

Philippineslooking for a recommendation for a good hotel in
Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a nice hotel in Baguio City. My wife and I are planning a trip back home this next Christmas and the place I have been staying is getting a bit pricy.

We normally stay at Burnham Suites Hotel on No.6 Kisad Road.

Its a nice place, the food is good.

Its close to Burnham Park and Kisad Road is not busy at night so there is very little noise.

Its a great view for the fireworks on New Years Eve too!

Its easy to grab a taxi and if you want, its a short walk up to SM mall.

For all the pluses, if we bring a bunch of the family along its just too much...

Anyone ever stay and another place in Baguio?

Thanks for any suggestions.

PhilippinesInterview Jan 28th - THIS THURSDAY!!
YeeHaw!!

Congrats on reaching the final gate! The interview is mostly a formality, Make sure your SO has all the papers required and that she knows details about you.

My SO memorized things like my birthdate, home address, phone number, what I did for work... As far as I could tell, just the things she would need when she got here.

I don't think she was asked about that but she was all set just in case!!

-Phil

 After many many months of waiting she finally completed all of the issues and finish the immunizations today!! My wife, Ever, got the quick date for the interview this Thursday...is there anyone else waiting in line Thursday morning at the Embasy?

PhilippinesScheduling the interview

Thank you everyone! last question though, what are the dates that they usually give? is it a week from the day you are calling? 2 weeks maybe? Or a month from the Day you are calling? I know for a fact that we should do the medical like a week before, i am just curious the dates they usually give from the present day

I think... I called early January and was offered an early February date...

I was thinking the interview dates are about one month out from your calling date...

I scheduled almost 3 weeks between medical and interview for 2 reasons; one, I wanted to be sure the results would be over to the embassy with no problem and, two, I wanted the 'worry time' to be as short as possible. :)

PhilippinesScheduling the interview

Hi guys! When you call the embassy to set up an interview date, do they give you a date for your interview date? Or you can choose whatever date you like?

I was told a date and if I agreed, that was that.... I could have asked for another but the one I was assigned was exactly the one I wanted.

I am not sure if you can specify a date or not...

We used Atlas Shipping. We got boxes at our local Neng Neng store.
I would suggest you start looking for one as I bet you they will have this all set and ready to go.

We packed a box so full I needed a full roll of tape to keep it together!! Took 2 people to move it.

Cost $80 to ship.

PhilippinesNeed some suggestions for applying for passport
Very Cool!! Thanks for the info!

Are you planning to get both the US and the Filipino passports?

How many pics are you making for each?

-Phil

hi there!

my husband and I are also preparing for the same thing. one trick i use to take a pictures of matthew is putting a white sheet on the bed and putting him there so you don't need to sit him up.. or

one of you can hold him under his armpit from behind or the front and the other can take a picture only from half of shoulders up or...

at four month she would be able to sit on a boppy pillow or bumpo which is perfect for the shoot or...

you can always bring him to walgreens/cvs for a more professional approach, hehe

what's important is you get a picture that meets the size/frame color requirement of the dept of state.

as for the age, whatever age the baby needs to travel is ok getting a passport. matthew is also four months now

and we're going to travel in 6 months yet but we don't want to rush then so we're applying for the passport already.

good luck to us! :)

PhilippinesNeed some suggestions for applying for passport
Hello Everyone, Happy Journeys to all,

This summer my wife and I are planning to start the process to get a US and Filipino passport for our child.

As she would be about 4 months old, she is not going to be able to stand for the photos...

Can I, or her mother, hold the child while photos are taken??

Is there any specific age requirement?

Is 4 months too young to get passports??

I have looked for details on this and most sites only address younger than 18 or older...

I can't find and info on very young children.

I know many here have done this so I am hoping to get some guidance from the group.

Thanks!!

PhilippinesThis one's for the folks from the Philippines

I'm pretty early in the visa process (haven't even recieved the NOA1 yet) but I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for later on. I've already sent in the check for $355 and I know I'm going to have to send the NVC about $500. I also know that the medical exam is $215.00. However what I don't know is how much does the wife need when she goes to the US embassy in Manila? The website is vague. I have more questions but one at a time.

Thanks in advance for everything.

She would need about 200 to 250 PHP to pay Air21 for the visa delivery.

The embassy does not have a charge for the interview.

You really only need #1 and #2 (the visa is irrelevant but it's in there nonetheless). (A copy of the marriage certificate is nice to have but not likely to be an issue if you didn't have it with you.) Have a great trip.

I agree, the GC and your passport are the 2 most important things.

Maybe also the marriage certs if your passport and GC have different names...

there's the say anything thread, rare for fights in there.
take a sense of humor when going to ot - and leave any chips on the shoulder at the door.

there may be a pile of chips at the door for sure, but its only from the turning of baseball bats...
PhiLandShiRFemalePhilippines2010-02-11 17:52:00
Philippineswhy do Pinays

If you steer clear of the political threads and more on the threads about kittens, gardening, or food, you should be safe. :jest:

I continue to disagree...

The extremists prowling OT will infest and over run any thread that seems to have even the slightest hint that the OP does not also follow their narrow point of view...

I have seen it happen...

I continue to maintain, do not go there unless you are looking for a fight.

PhiLandShiRFemalePhilippines2010-02-11 13:47:00
Philippineswhy do Pinays

My point is that if there was more intermingling among members outside just their regions, it would help negate any festering hostility towards one group or another. This thread and some of the responses is a case in point. There are a lot of VJ members from other regions that have a tainted view of Filipinas in general. While this regional subforum provides a sort of cultural safe haven, the downside is that it can also breed contempt. That's why it would help if Fil/Am, particularly Filipinas, would venture out into the other forums, especially in Off Topic, to help dispel any misconceptions as well as diffuse any contempt.

I would tend to disagree...

The few times I have wandered out to Off Topic I found most of it is swamped with politics... with both sides very firmly entrenched, each with little or no tolerance for opposing opinions...

What is not simply shouted to silence, dipped in ridicule or sarcasm, is dismissed as stupidity...

Its not a place I would suggest anyone go unless they are looking for a fight...
