CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

When I was first studying NVC doc intake and LingChe's shortcuts and James' shortcuts ,

I mapped it all out on a big piece of greenbar paper, making a flowchart with blue crayon.   Then I did it again, about 7 times.

For about a month, I'd make a new one, from memory.

Then finally, I made two more - one is up on the wall where-ever I am, and the other is in my attache case.

Maybe you could do the same ?

Thanks!  That's a good idea!

CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

well my fiance talked to his uncle about the prices.  I think you can go to any passport place. I don't think it has to be in Santo Domingo. I think that the electoral card is his cedula? That is what it sounds like to me.

I think you are right...I think it is his cedula also.  I am going to give him the phone # to call so he can make sure he has everything to take with him.  And I see there are different locations...San Pedro De Marcoris is one of them and that's where he has to get his birth certificate, so he can take care of both there.

I just can't believe I missed this step.  I saw about the passport, but I was thinking that was just if they already had one and the visa would take care of his travel to the US. ...  OOPS, we still have time...he will just have to take care of it soon so we can get it to send with the DS 230!!  Our paperwork was just received at the NVC, so we are still waiting on a case #...we have a little time if he does it NOW!  :-)

Thanks everyone for your input!!  :-)

CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

In those forms, i believe they ask you for his passport # so u might want to get it before hand. im not too familiar with the ir-1/cr-1 process yet because im going through the k1 stage first. but like the others stated, he will need the biographic page from his passport in order to proceed once ur at NVC. so he should get it asap regardless.

yes, there's a "premium" one where he can get it the same day, i dont know how much is costs though, i wanna say like $100.00 dollars, not sure though. i will have to ask my fiance for that amount.

also, reach out to the dr members that have gone through or are going through the cr-1 process and ask as well.

Thank you!!

My fiance had just checked into getting a passport. For $1500 pesos (DR) the passport will come back in about 15 days. Or you can pay $2500 pesos and the passport comes back in 3 days. I am not sure how many years the passport is good for though.

Thank you!  Who did he contact?  Do you have a # for the office he called?

Do either one of you know if this can be done only in Santo Domingo or if there are other offices throughout the Dominican?  He lives and works in Punta Cana.  I would call him but he is at work right now and I am impatient...LOL.

CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

he definitely needs a passport to travel! and he will need it for the interview as well. in DR, its a process in order to get a passport, so i suggest he starts that process. a cedula in dr is just an identification. its just like we have our state id's here in the states.

good luck with your journey!

Does he just need the passport by the time we go to interview or before we do the ds 230/ i 864?  Do you know the cost?  I had a friend tell me that you can get them the same day if you go to the office in  Santo Domingo and pay a premium for same day.  Otherwise it takes a week and he would have to go back and pick it up and Santo Domingo is about 4-5 hours away for him.

CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

Hello,

As I am reading through some posts and paperwork, I am hoping I am not missing a big step here.  My Dominican husband does NOT have a passport, just his cedula.  We are going through the I-130 process and are getting ready to proceed through the NVC process.  He has never traveled anywhere and I didn't think he could even get a passport???  Is this something he needs or will the Visa be sufficient that we are applying for?

CaribbeanMedical exam in Dominican Republic

My fiance just did his last week on July 16. It is now $290! not $280 but also if he does it after August 20 than it is more because it is flu season. I would def follow the link above! Good Luck!

THANK YOU!!  I thought that's what it was...so, it's closer to $350 if you get it during flu season.

Does that $280 include everything, even the flu vaccine?  If all goes well, hoping to have interview in Oct/Nov when a flu shot is required for the medical to do prior to that.

Here is the link

http://santodomingo....vaccines-e.html

The way I see it is it $180 for the Exam and $170 for the vaccines if getting it when a flu vaccine is required or $110 if a flu vaccine is not required.

CaribbeanDS260 Form holding up review at NVC?

I'm confused because I called today regarding this and I am in the NVC stage...I had a checklist on sending the incorrect birth certificate on my husband's DS230, so I figured I would be part of this process where I now had to do the online DS260...they told me they triple checked and I don't have to.   I hope I don't get lead on for some time and things are held up EVEN LONGER because I was mis-informed today....I wonder if I should call to double check.

The girl said my DS230 was approved last month ...which Im confused about since they still need the birth certificate (they should be getting today).
