PhilippinesAm I okay, or what do I do?
Hello to all! I am a "newby" going thru this process with some questions and would really appreciate some answers and/or advice. Gina and I are going thru the K-1 VISA petition process. I received the NAO1 on April 11, 2013 and going thru CSC. We are now waiting on the NAO2. I want to go to The Philippines in October 2013 to be with Gina and to live there for 6 months from October until April 2014. I also want to be there with her when she goes for her interview in Manila. First of all is any of this possible to do within the Visa processing guidelines? Will it alter or change my status in any way? And, do I tell them of my address change? Thank you, Mike & Gina

PhilippinesGetting Organized for CFO and Interview

Congratulations Steve & Joan! "Aint" this a fun process, and further instilling the "patience" virtue?! Hahaha. Thanks for listing your file cabinet and order of documents - gives me a template to go by and how to do ours. I fly to Cebu in October (for 6 month Winter "snow-bird" stay), so I hope our NAO2 does NOT come until about September. I want to be with Gina when she flys to Manila for medicals and interviews etc.. is there any good or better time to do the CFO?? Before or after medicals or interview?? How many PESOS should I "grease" - put into, the instructors palm to ensure Gina passes??? Hahahahah, I know how the Philippines works....been there done that.....hahahah. Good luck, and God Bless us all.

PhilippinesCincinnati Friends
Hello Buckeye friends!!! OH............IO!!!! Hahaha. Welcome to the great state, and sometimes cold (January - March) OHIO. I hate it there in the Winter. I live in Dayton, Ohio. I will be bringing my lovely Fiancée Gina here from Cebu in April 2014, and she wants to meet new friends here to. Friends will help break the loneliness and "newness" of being here for the first time in the USA. I can only imagine how much of a culture shock it will be for her, and to get adjusted to. Ok, now the things I love about Cincinnati......mostly foods - Skyline Chili of course, Montomery Inn ribs, The Cincinnati Reds (NOT The bengals!!), Kings Island, WLW 700 radio, and great summer concerts! Welcome to Ohio, and look forward to possibly meeting any or all of you! God bless us all.

PhilippinesMedical Exam Review: All is well. Thank God!

Congratulations and thanks so much for the very detailed review. Its much appreciated, and will help the rest of us who will hopefully going through that medical process soon. They didn't mind you taking pictures inside the hospital/medical facility there? I guess cameras are allowed in there, just not the Embassy for the Interview. Am I allowed to go in St. Lukes and sit with my lovely Fiancee Gina while she takes her medical tests? In your review you said the Doctor asked you "Did you had sex since your last menstruation?" Just curious....how does that affect the medical exam? Should you refrain from having sex a few days or weeks just prior to the exam? Once again Congrats, and thanks!

PhilippinesGoing to Cebu to be with Honey. Your thoughts and advise please??
Thanks for the suggestions so far.....I plan to look into, and go to some of the places. Also found Metro Sports Complex near Waterfront Hotel where we can play some Badminton daily. I also need to find a basketball court and soccer "pitch" where I can show off my American "skills"....hahaha. One sport I found Filipinas are good at BUT, I DONT want to try is boxing. There's not enough money you can pay me to step in the ring with Manny Pacquiao. One day, I would LOVE to go to Manila with honey for her medical exam and interview at the Embassy "IF" the USCIS ever sees it in their hearts to approve our K-1 petition?! Maybe I have a better chance of seeing hell freeze over, or win the $400 million dollar Powerball jackpot tonight?! Hahahaha. Can you tell I'm alittle bitter about our petition being "ignored"?! Is there places to see and go to around Manila if we are ever there?? Baguio? Tagaytay? Olongapo?? Angelos City? Anywhere else? Thanks for all, and God Bless.

PhilippinesGoing to Cebu to be with Honey. Your thoughts and advise please??

Hello, hello & greetings VJ'ers!

First of all I am STILL mad and jealous.....many petitions filed in May, June & July are being approved rapidly. Mine which was sent on April 4 must be down on the floor in the stack they use to hold the office door open because they cant afford a door stop? Or is it in the stack that is underneath and holding up the window air conditioning unit or computer monitor?? Or maybe its on Suzie's desk, who just happens to be gone for the next 3 months on maternity leave?? Or maybe it was Suzie's kid - little Johnny, who spilt his 64 ounce rootbeer soda all over my folder, and now they have all the individual pages hung up outside on the clothes line trying to dry them out and make them legible?? I just hope my fiancée honey Gina can accept me with no hair or fingernails since I have pulled them all out of my body!! Sorry Honey!

I lived in Cebu from December 2012 till April 2013. I priced bicycles there in the stores and they were expensive - 20,000 PESOS and more, and they are small, or built for small men. I am a big man 6 feet 2 inches tall, 240 pounds. I want to ship my bicycle over there from here in OHIO. I just got off the telephone with FEDEX and they want $1,000 dollars from me to ship it there.

Soon, I will be a "SNOWBIRD" and leave Ohio for the warm confines and climate of Cebu. I will be living there from October 2013 until April 2014 when hopefully Gina will have her K-1 VISA approved by then? And the weather warms up back in Ohio so she wont freeze there.

Now, here's where you folks come into play, and I need your advice, and guidance....and thoughts..... (be nice!). First of all, what do I do about getting a bike to Cebu cheaply, or getting one in Cebu cheap and a big frame bike?? Fly it on the airplane over there on my flight with me??

And now, about my 6 months in Cebu and The Philippines........what's the best way to kill, enjoy, or "last" the 6 months there before dying from emphysema - the excessive exhaust fumes?? Haha! Already been to Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, Iloilo, and all around Cebu including TOPS Mountain, Sinulog, all the Malls, Larshon, Kawasan Falls, and the Crimson & Plantation Bay resorts. Tell me, or give me other ideas, or places to see, or places to go there, things to do etc......give me your experiences of what made your stays there fun, happy, exciting, memorable, and survivable!! Thanks & God Bless!

PhilippinesDont go to hell now, its freezing there!
Thanks to all and especially you Hank. You are the King and expert here. Yes, I have to strategically do everything now with times in consideration since my flight to leave is March 30th. I bought this flight 2 months ago when I purchased my roundtrip ticket. Now I gotta hope I can get Honey Gina on the same flight as me home, or at least to Seattle (POE). I will keep in mind not to schedule the medical too early. Does anyone know what dates they are currently scheduling now for medicals? October? November?? Once again Thanks!

PhilippinesDont go to hell now, its freezing there!

Hello, hello VJ'ers!! I said a few weeks ago my petition for K-1 visa wouldn't be approved until hell froze over (early April filers). I got the text this morning from either the devil himself or USCIS (don't know which), and it said we are approved. Must be -50 degrees below zero down there and 100 feet of snow and ice! Hahahaha. WOW, its been alittle stressful and nerve-racking since April. I feel like a 1000 pound boulder has been lifted off my shoulder. I cant get too excited now, cause I know the next part of this JOURNEY is work also, and more WAITING. At least I'll be with honey soon, as I leave for Cebu in 42 days. I will be living there in Cebu for 6 months until we fly back to Seattle (POE) on March 30. 2014. God Bless Us All, and Thank You everyone for all your help, wisdom, and words of encouragement.

PhilippinesAirline Tickets
WHAT?! I just bought 2 tickets (for honey & I) through Orbitz travel website. We fly on March 31st from Cebu to Manila to Taipei to Honolulu - Philippine Airlines to China Airlines to Hawaiian Airlines. All they asked from me was our names and dates of birth. Are they really gonna "hold" honey at the airport because her ticket is "only" a one way flight??? Or make her buy a returning flight ticket?? She is coming to the USA to marry and live. Whats the sense in buying a round trip ticket?? Who do I contact for sure correct answers??

PhilippinesNO2 RECEIVED AUGUST 16TH (CALIFORNIA) FOR K-1 BUT NO MNL# YET

Waiting also....NOA2 August 27. I've called NVC several times but was on "hold" for over an hour each time with no one answering so I hung up. The USCIS website status still says "Post Decision Activity" - petition approved, but it doesn't say anything about it being shipped to the NVC. Is there a special email or text you get which will say when or if its shipped to NVC???? God Bless us all.

PhilippinesDoing the Limbo since they put me in limbo
Hello persons all over the Earth! Honey told me to be patient but its hard to. Hahahah Why is it that women are more patient then men? Or is really true that women are more patient then men? Haha. We received our NOA2 on August 27th - 34 days ago. Nothing since then....tick tock tick tock. I called NVC this morning and they said they have not received it yet. I then called USCIS and got a Tier 2 Rep/Manager and after looking for it he said it was sent out yesterday to NVC. Hip hip hooray!! I guess I am in limbo between USCIS and NVC?! I lowered the limbo bar in my gym and attempted a low one.....threw out my back....OUCH!!!!!!!! I leave for Cebu next Wednesday. Cant wait to return to The Philippines again for my honey, the friendly people, the culture, and Jollibees & jeepneys!! God Bless Us All.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - January 2014

Hey all, I am just looking over the forms I am going to be filling out once I am in the NVC stage, and I know the DS-230 has been replaced by an online form, but I'd imagine it contains close to the same info, so I was wondering how I should explain a situation in a certain question: it states:

Have you ever been refused admission to the United States at a port of entry? (If yes, explain)

Well this has happened to my wife, last year in May we were crossing the border from Mexico to US (texas) and they held her for about 7 hours and took her tourist visa from her and denied entry to the US, so.... I don't know how exactly to explain this in a short manner on the form, any ideas?

Thanks

If you need a joint sponsor, you need to find someone CURRENTLY making enough. Although past years play a little part, NVC focuses more on the current year. If he's under the poverty line currently, he's really no good as a sponsor.

Thank you so much Saylin, your always right on top of things here, your a great help, about this sponsor, if he can combine what his income is and his wife's income, then they do make enough, they have 5 children, so I was looking under the houshold size of 8 and they make just over 50,000 a year, and the minimum is just under 50,000 so I was wondering if that would work combining his and his wife's income.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - January 2014

Ok again I have a few more questions on filling out the I-864, but now for my co-sponsor. He is my brother, a USC, and in 2010, 2011, & 2012 he had no problem covering the poverty guidelines, but in 2013 he opened his own business and quit his job and his income doesn't reach the minimum, so I was wondering two things, can I combine his income with my income, or if he just sends in his tax returns from 2012 since 2013's taxes aren't required to be filed until April 15th and takes 60 days to be returned and I am hoping to complete NVC stage by then. Or what other path would be my best option?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - January 2014

Hey all, I don't have my NOA2 yet, but I have been transferred to NSC last month, so I am trying to prepare everything for the NVC stage, and while I am filling out the I-864 I have a couple of questions on what to put.

on the first page it is split in two columns and on the right hand column it is asking for the mailing address, is this the beneficiary's mailing address or the petitioner's?

on Part 6 it asks for the sponsor's annual income, I was wondering if I will put the income I filed in my taxes for the last year, or if I can put the estimated income for this year, and include a letter of employment from my US based job. in 2013 I was living in the US for only about 4 months and I moved back to Mexico to be with my wife and kids during the process, so the income on my tax forms is lower than what I will be making once I live in the US, I have secured a job in the US for when this whole process is complete.

Thank you all for the advice and guidance I have recieved from this forum, I am truly grateful for finding this site!

Ok I have a question about the Affidavit of support.... It says the imam gran will not solicit government support and the sponsor will assure he/she does not request government support, well I would like to know how that works, if me and my spouse and our three kids are living in the US and sometime down the line I lose my job or something happens where I need some support like food stamps or something similar for my kids, (who are USC) am I not able to request any support since my spouse will be there on a spousal residence visa?

I think you've got the first part correct, it seems mostly to be the address issue that crops up.
As for income, they want the 'current year (2014) income', so it would be what you make after starting the job when you arrive until the end of the year.

Thank you so much, you are great for sticking around here to help the rest of us out! So I am going to leave the rest of the i864 blank hoping I don't get a checklist and will put current income only 4 months of estimated income

Again thanks a bunch, this is my anti-stress community your all always there when needed!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

OK two questions about the i-864... first of all, which parts of this should I be putting n/a or none in order to not get a checklist, like income from other family members or what???? I did fill in mailing address if different cause I know that one,

and second question... I am living abroad but I do have a job offer for when I move back to the US, so on my current annual income, on the employer letter it states what my approximate annual income will be, but that is considering 12 months and I obviously wont be working for 12 months this year, so.... do I put the amount I will make estimating when I will start or the full year's income?

ok I have a question about the i-864, I am living abroad so i abviously need a co-sponsor and now that I have my case number I started pressuring him and he told me he hasnt filed his taxes for 2012 nor 2013 soooo, I am looking for a new sponsor, I just need to know what amount on their annual income i am looking for, because my brother has a farm with a lot of income, but it also has a lot of expenses and he has a lot of children, so I need to know if it is total income or adjusted income.

thanks all

and on a side note, this community is the best. I got so excited when I got my case number yesterday and only here seems like other people are excited for the same thing to other people that arent going through this dont really understand how it is such a big deal, any one I mention it to, they are like.. oh so she got aproved? so she has her interview or what is so good about getting the case number?? but ya its great to spend hours and hours reading all of your comments and seeing the process everyone is going through and to have such a large vj family that gets excited for the same things as me

Ok I want to finish the final touches on the I-864 and a doubt came up about my past income... I have lived in Mexico for the past 11 years and I did file my taxes buuuut the total on my 1040s was a big fat 0 because I didn't make enough to have to pay us taxes and I tried to get my transcripts and they dont appear except last years and that's because I did work in the us for a few months soo what should I put for my income on 2011 & 2012? $0 or the amount I earned in Mexico?
