Australia and New ZealandNSW Police Check - Which Form?

Hi,

I am from South Australia. Does anyone here know which police check shall I get? for the federal one? or SA is enough? (I guess the federal one now)

i actually just got one police check but it is apparently not a full disclosure...i am glad that i saw this topic and realized that i might be wrong.... :help:

Hey 2011fall :)

For South Australia, the Embassy website *Click Here* says:

National Police Certificate & Fingerprint Checks (NPC) will only be prepared for those people who reside in South Australia. South Australian residents living overseas should refer requests to the Australian Federal Police website or via e-mail at vetting@afp.gov.au. Residents of other states should direct enquiries to the police service of the state or territory in which they reside.

The standard timeframe to process a NPC is between 5-15 working days. The fee for a National Police Certificate & Fingerprint Check is A$140 (subject to change, please check current fee direct with SA police).

Please find guidance and application forms on the South Australian Police website.

I went to the website and had a look, the information page and link to the application form is here: National Police Certificate And the fee listed on the Canberra embassy website is now wrong, it's gone up to $159

Hope all this helps :)

Make sure you take the form with you... both police stations I went to only had the P799 and insisted it was fine. Until I showed them the website where it says P800 is required and then they admited they didn't do many and weren't 100% sure of the process. Made me wonder why they tried to change my mind if they didnt know what they were doing

Thanks for letting me know!

Great...ANOTHER NEEDLE....should have made my husband move here instead lol. Oh well....I guess I just need to toughen up....it will be worth it when I get to be with my husband for more than 3mths at a time!

Thats it... focus on the goal :) I'm terrible with needles too, but I felt almost nothing when Dr millar gave me that flu shot :)

Thanks Barbara!

Guess it doesn't really matter then which one I go to ...they both seem fine. Guess it will just depend on which one has an availability to suit when I can make a trip to Sydney.

Thanks all for the info - I appreciate it. Being organised and knowing exactly what needs to happen and when is making this process much more bearable. So glad I found VJ!

I went to Dr Millar today... prices and experience was exactly the same as mentioned by curvebell :) Nice older guy with a quirky sense of humor too.
One thing to be aware of though, as of April 1st, the consulate has decided we all need a flu shot. I had it done while I was there, cost $25. Not sure if your gp could do it for free on medicare or not? just wanted to get it over and done with, so i paid for mine and got it while I was there :)

I think the Approval you guys are talking about is the approval from csc or vsc??? Mine had a big red approved stamp right on the front of my file lol

All good now, congrats on your approval :) so when do you fly out?

Oops sorry..should have been more clear! I meant the 'New Immigrant' line (secondary screening where they took my envelope, fingerprint, signed some papers and stamped my passport), that they sent me to after I had waited 45mins in the Visitors line for the intial screening lol!

Ahhh ok my bad, lol I never had to go thru that bit, the officer at the initial screening took my envelope, fingerprints etc

POE last Wednesday through LAX - was very easy - I was the only person in the 'New Immigrant' line at 10.30am - that's gotta be a first lol!

Damn, I didn't know there was a new immigrant line? I just went thru the lines for non us passport holders/aliens and the lines were soooo long lol...

Nice one :) we had a wedding in our garden, was inexpensive but very nice still...

Ahh lax huh? Me too... I didn't get many questions at the passport gate there :)

I had one of those small trolley suitcases for my hand luggage and it had a pocket under the lid... I put it in a plastic document wallet from the newsagent then put it in there and it arrived nice and safe and undamaged :)

Hey guys

Can anyone update me about paying for K1 visa as to where about in SYDNEY you paid it. I went to my local Aus Post and the lady tried for almost 45 mins and said she cant work out how to pay for it.

I paid for mine at the post office in narellan town center and the lady knew exactly what to do :) otherwise, there is a lady from England at Liverpool westfields post office who is very knowledgeable but I cant remember her name :|=

Can you tell me a Aus Post branch in SYD which you paid at and knew what to do ??

Thanks for helping in advance.

Sean

Hey Nick :D I lodged my etax on 2 July and it was in Mum's bank account on the 11th! She then transferred it through to the US.

Ted and I are delighted to announce that our little girl, Isabella Joy, entered the world on Wednesday 20th July. She was 3 weeks early but I was having blood pressure
issues so the Dr decided it was time. She is utterly gorgeous and between my accent, Bella's beauty and my husband's sense of humor we've had a fun few days at the
birthing hospital. However we are very much looking
forward to being discharged and going home today!!!

Wow, congrats to you guys :) will you be posting a pic soon for us all to see ?

Will post a couple on here of us soon.... Yesterday was our wedding day, a small and simple ceremony in our back yard :) and July 7 we had our little girl enter our lives, she was a few days late and we named her Erin Elizabeth :)

i'm interested in this aswell actually. I flew united last time as i was quite happy with them. but what i did was went into my travel agents, told here the dates i wanted to leave and return and just told her to find me the cheapest flights possible, lol.
I wanna know about checked baggage aswell, i'm going to be taking two or three suitcases also.....

I flew delta myself, I got two cases from Sydney to Dayton free of charge and I was able to put 23kg in each (50 lbs). I had a third piece that they charged me for, but it was way way way oversized so it cost me a arm and a leg lmao... The flights were comfortable and good service too, but pay the $150 extra for comfort economy upgrade, there was a heap more legroom and complimentary booze from Sydney to LA

I believe it depends on the doctor. I know dr Millar here in Sydney will do it without the case number, but I have heard some other doctors won't...

Don't forget your medical expires too (12 months I think it is) so don't get it done too early or it might expire before you file your AOS and then you'd be stuck paying for another in the US :(

Good luck man, enjoy your flights and reunion :) I'm off to the social security office today, then baby and wedding over the next four weeks :) phew busy time for us LOL

Oooo I have a question too... The SS-5 form says in the instructions for the question about your reason for needing a ss number that if you mark the box "non-immigrant, not allowed to work" that I need to provide proof that I need a number. Will my k1 visa and I-94 be enough for them?
