IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Process...next step??
NVC has recieved and processes the AOS fee for our case...

my next step is.....???......complete the 864 and send a the Document Cover sheet...is this correct? Am I to wait for a snail mail response from them or just go ahead and send the forms? If this is so..are these the ONLY documents that I need to send? If any others..what are they?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC payment question
quick question, if I may:

I am processing my wife and my 5 year old step-daughter for CR1 VISAs...

I paid the AOS fee($70) and am now waiting for the IV bill to arrive. When I paid the AOS fee payment for one equaled payment for both(I was only required to pay $70 once, not for both).....Will the same occur with the IV fee? Will I pay $400 or $800?

Same here...I called and they offered me the case number with no problem.

About a week later I got a snail mail packet with all the instructions on how to pay on line....Be patient, its coming.

Keep calling untill you get it. I waited till the AVR said they generated my DS-3032 and AOS fee bill, then called after 7pm EST and got it the first try. They didn't ask any why I wanted it, just gave it to me.

Cool!!..I have all my docs together already. just waiting for the response. Our NOA2 came through SO quickly we were caught off gaurd and had to adjust. Have any idea why it would get approved in 21 days? I DID send an overwhleming amount of evidence with teh I130 application

The $70 fee....was that for teh I864?

What is the fee for the IV?

QUOTE (wowswift @ Sep 8 2008, 08:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just check the NVC online payment site for when it goes to "PAID" and then you can print out the barcode cover sheet. And basically the directions for the form are on the USCIS site, so if I were you, I'd just fill out and get all the documents you need for the I-864 ready (im sure you've looked at it, it breaks down what you need) and when you're able to print that barcode sheet, you can send it off. If the AVR doesn't update when it goes to paid, i'd call an operator just to be sure before sending, just because its possible to send it too early, but the operator will know before the AVR updates.

yes, my wife did get the auto-response and thanks for the response. I have been told my NVC that I can do the 864EZ form...should I wait for a response from them to do that or can I proceed to that? Will those direction be given to me on the website the 2-3 days after I have made my payment or will it come via snail mail?

AOS bill takes about 1-2 days to show as paid online

ds-3032 emailed takes about 10 days to be entered. i've seen some longer, some shorter, so 10 is a good average. you should get an auto-reply though right after you send it.

I have paid via the on-line option the 3032 bill and my wife has emailed a template form letter to assing me as her and my step-daughter's agent. how long will it take for me to get a response to my payment and how long before we get a response to the emailed 3032??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS3032 Choice of agent and Address
You can do both...send the email template lised on James Advise. NVC will recieve it quickly, but may take 10-14 days to process it. But you can also send the paper form just to be sure you are covered.

Also, the American Citizen should be the Agent. Via this method, the agent can recieve all the docs from NVC and then send them to you via a courrier service..speeding up the mailing. NVC ONLY uses standard USPS mailing service...SO SLOW!!!

check out the timeline...less than 2 months from sending of I130 to paying the IV Bill..I am not complaining, but still don't understand the fast processing. Anyone have any clue as to why?

Next step?

i presume...i await some form of approval of teh AOS(anyone know i am notified of this)....then I will get the DS 230??..is this correct?

ok, called NVC and they have the AOS and are "reviewing" it....is there any notification other than RFE's for the form? Was told that once complete NVC will forward it to the Manila Embassy for "approval or disapproval"....will i recieve notification of this happening?

Also, my wife is able to log onto the Travel.gov site and DL the DS230 and print out the Document Cover Sheet that is required. This seems to be the fastest way to get this done...any suggestions or concerns if we do it this way?

I made stupid error while trying to pay for IV fee online on Saturday night. I accidentally spelled my Last name incorrectly (added an extra letter) while entering details for Bank routing number and Account number. Payment is still showing IN PROCESS even after 3 days (sunday monday and today).

I called NVC today and operator said allow 3 business days to have the transaction go thru. Do I have to take any special steps like having someone in NVC reject this payment and post online payment again???? What should I do?
How long does it take for other VJ member to have transaction go from IN PROCESS to PAID????

thanks,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS230/Biological Father's info...is consent required?
My wife is at the point of completing the DS230...and I understand that the biological father's info is needed on the form. But the biological father IS NOT on the birth certificate, my wife has an affidavit of illegitimacy for her daughter, and teh biological father has never provided financial nor emotional support during teh entire 5+ years of her precious life.

Nor was my wife ever married to him.

Will we be REQUIRED to have a letter of consent from the father, in order for the baby to be able to leave the country? The father cannot be found; what is needed for that? Will NVC process our packet and send it on to teh embassy or will then deny the application or put it on hold?

Can my wife just put "n/a" for all of his info since he has NO legal rights to her?

Alot of questions with no guidance at this point...please any info anyone can provide would be VERY helpful.

i did call NVC 5 different times and got 5 different answers.

You can put the info of the biological father. It will not affect them leaving the country as long as the child is travelling with the mother, they do not need a letter of consent from the biological father or permission from DSWD. Me and my 11-year old daughter is now here in the US. At the airport, I just showed the birth certificate of my daughter to prove that I am the mother. Next time post your questions in the Philippine Thread as most people are quick to give answers there and help out because of similar experiences.

my wife and I have decided to put "n/a" for ALL of the father's info. She really only remembers his name, he currently cannot be found, nor does she want to find him. will "na/a" affect anything. We will also send teh birth cert, of course and an updated Affadavit of illegitimacy stating the father cannot be found....think that will raise any red flags? or NVC will process it without any isses?

It will not cause any red flag. Do not worry too much. If your wife has no unterminated prior marriage then you are good to go.

Nope, did not expedite. I am hoping that this will be the norm for everyone. I hope that it proceeds like this the rest of the way.

Two things come to mind and I do not know if it helped any:

1) I sent an OVERWHELMING amount of evidence to prove our marriage.
2) I am a veteran and I sent a copy of my DD214(discharge papers); hoping that the I130 may find it ways across the desk of a Vet Bro or Sis.
3) My wife is a doctor....don't know if that helps or not.

All I can tell you is call, call, call...they will tell you to wait 4-5 days(NVC operator that is)...but it could be teh very next day. This has been my case, so far. And you can announce the choice of Agent via an email...check out some of teh Wiki for suggested templates for those...send that out ASAP.

only waiting you have to do is for the processing of the fees, once it changes to PAID...send out the associated document. You can get through NVC very quickly, if all is ready to go.

Congressionally, I believe that you should have sent them a written (faxed or emailed) request with the reasons you would like their help. When I did this through my congressman (John Hall) his office was wonderful, following up the entire way.

I sent a letter, with all supporting documents to my congressman for their "congessional inquiry"...they told me they could do nothing for me...this was AFTER they told me they would do the inquiry.

Sent out all the info to all THREE of his offices and still no help. thankfully, our case is moving through quickly.

Ok...these you CAN do..because I have for me and mmy Pinay wife.

1)I wanted to be able to send my wife and our daughte money WITHOUt paying for outrageus western union fees...so(I bank with Chase)..i asked Chase for an additional debit card and sent that to Grace. She was able to withdraw cash from any ATM machine in PI with it. But there are attached fees, which are not outrageous, but at there no the less.

move on the #2...

2) to avoid those fees...I called HSBC, here in the states,,they have two type of on-line accounts. Saving and Checking. You husband can open one of these then make a bank-to-bank transfer from his account into the HSBC account. You can then withdraw cash from ANY HSBC ATM without any attached fees. HSBC does take 3 business days for the transfer to occur...but with some prep, he can transfer to you without delay.

My wife RyandGracey, suggested having you placed on his health insurance plan. This can be done WITHOUT any social security number for you or you child. I did this just 1.5 months ago. 1)this further validates your marriage and 2) you have health coverage both there AND the second you step off the airplane when you get here...WHIC IS HUGE!! I cannot convey how important that is. My insurere is Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield. If this is his..it shold be no problem.

I do hope this helps. don't hesitate to ask me any follow up questions.

And your journey has just started...don't bail out of it now.

Plus I open an account with Visa credit card, put Grace as an authorized user...and sent her the card. She uses it in PI....plus if he get s a credit card with airline miles bonus...purchases on the card can go toward airline ticket costs later.

and also..in terms of phots and such...they way took that was; I could not send enough information. i sent nearly 150 phtos with the I130. That may be a bit excessive, but I did not want there to be ANY question to our relationship. I also send trave reciept(plane tickets, stubs)..reciepts from trips to Tagaytay, Lake Caliraya, our honeymoon suite reciepts, we sent an affidavits ALONG with the marriage cert, i sent copies of letter, I even printed out a ream of emails(which i did not send but have ready), I sent DVDs of ALL photos, and DVDs of videos i took when I was there, I put ALL of our YMs on a flash drive card(did not send, but have ready). This was all JUST for teh I130.

I did not know or understand the process then, so I went excessive thinking it could not hurt and it has not. Less than 2 months from sending of I130 to approval of AOS. That is really fast processing.

Speaking of AOS..that ONLY asks for the last year tax returns....suggests last 3 years returns, but is not required. I sent my last 4 years of returns, a years worth of pay stubs, employment verification letter, and every HSBC statement(downloaded via their site). Again, too much can't hurt.
The AOS was approved in one week

So, I say be excessive. I can't hurt a bit.

Can he get a duplicate credit card in your name? That's what we did. And my husband has my name on his lease saying I can stay, so we sent that in too.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAirline Tickets Inquiry
Motivated by an earlier post about air fares....

What sites does everyone suggest for teh best international rates? If anyone has specifis for flights to Manila, Philippines; that would be very useful.

I have used several sites in the past, but am finding Orbitz to have the best rates for my needs.

Any offerings?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase complete at NVC...but a question I I may
i was not aware of that information. Thanks for it. I, indeed, will continue to call them. Perhaps my wife can be added in for November.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase complete at NVC...but a question I I may
I just called NVC and was told that all the documentation for the DS230 was reviewed and that NVC was "completing' the case. They said I should not expect any checklists.

But, was told that NVC does not schedule interview dates until the 2nd week of each month. So, i was told that my wife and child's interview would not be scheduled until the 2nd week on November.

Do "completing" mean that they have found the DS230s to be sufficient with all supporting documents and that they are completing their process to have it presentable to the embassy?

And I presume calling anytime before the 2nd week of November would be fruitless..is this true?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApointment Scheduling with NVC.
Called NVC tonight and they stated that my wife's and our baby girl's cases are officially completed at NVC and awaiting appointment scheduling. They also said that NVC is still scheduling for November, what is the possibility that my wife could get an appointment scheduled in November?

Help me out here people...maybe they teach math different in the Philippines but I count 45 days from when NVC got their case to when there case was complete....

Congrats though

No, you math is correct...I meant that ti took 4 days for DS230 to be recieved and approved. Which is the major portion of the NVC process.
