I was not asking about the Fiance's name specifically. That is already available from government docs.
I am wondering if we need to get certified translation for things like addresses and previous employment history, etc?
The form itself needs to be completed in English (as do all USCIS forms) - if that is troublesome, you should consider completing them for your fiancé/spouse and having him/her simple sign them. good.gif

Thanks for the info. Completing the form in English is not the issue for us. I am just wondering how people handled the translation of the data (street names, employer names, etc) from the foreign language to English. Do they have to use a licensed professional translator or can we just look it up in a dictionary?

Addresses tend to be the most difficult for some people but names are just transliterated to Pinyin. Most any Chinese person under 40 with a high school education is able to provide the information for the form in Pinyin if they understand the questions. In my experience the US Citizen takes charge of getting the information on the form and the Chinese beneficiary simply signs it and writes their name in Chinese characters in the one place it's required.

Things like divorce decrees, birth certificates and police reports need to be Notarial translations from the local Notarial Office called Gong Zheng Chu.

You'll want to provide the address including a phone number in Chinese on an attached sheet as well. The Consulate will need that.

My foreign fiance's native language is Chinese.
Does the G325A need to be filled out in English or can Chinese be okay?

English with the name written in Chinese characters in a specific box on each of the four copies. This question indicates you have either not read or not understood the instructions that come with the I-129F. The success of your visa journey depends on diligent study of forms and instructions.

I am not asking about the I-129F, but rather G325a. My fiance will be filing that out and sending that to me while I am getting the I-129F package ready.

I read the instructions on the G325a. It makes no mention of how to handle the questions such as foreign language.
Perhaps I missed it while I was reading the I-129F instructions previously, but other than requiring official translation for submitted docs, can you point out where in the I-129F instructions would I find the answer to my original question?

I understood your question. Had you read and understood the instructions that come with the I-129F, you would not have needed to ask about filling out any forms in Chinese. The G325a is a supporting document for the I-129F.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat happens if...

Getting married in the middle of the process will only stop the process in its tracks. If the visa is denied for this now, I would assume it would be denied as well for a spousal visa. I would suggest, while you're visiting, that you get in touch with the doctors who do the medicals there and inquire about how the cancer might affect his approval. Get some real and concrete information before you make any decisions.

Thinking of you and hoping that the situation turns out for the better for the both of you.

Incorrect.  Getting married during the K1 process, nullifies the K1 process but has no negative impact on any spouse process.  It's actually a positive.  Still, I'd only advise that if there's a pressing reason to marry that outweighs the delay and extra cost.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSignatures required from foriegn fiancé

Thanks for the advice on being patient. It is true, this process upped my anxiety. But I think this is a normal progression of anticipation, wonder, and anxiety.

My fiance thinks that a signed letter of intent and a signed G-345a can be signed then scanned and e-mailed to me. I have heard only the original ink signed document must be physically mailed from Vietnam to US so i can include in the packet?

Your fiancee is wrong.  Technically the foreigner living abroad does not have to sign the G325a but since the fiancee DOES need to sign the letter of intent and provide a passport photo, they might as well sign the G325a and send them all together in the same package.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA couple of K1 visa questions

After reading as much as I could, I still have a couple of questions.

The first one is I notice that the I-129 form is supposed to be sent to a location in Dallas. If I am located in Dallas can I drop it off myself for expedited delivery, or should I still mail it.

The second is for the proof of meeting. Do me and her both need to provide boarding passes for our meeting in Moscow? I met her in her home town of Astrakhan the first time, and still have boarding passes for this trip and my last trip to Moscow to meet her. She only has her passes from  Moscow and home to Astrakhan. Will this pose a problem or can I just send in my copies of boarding passes and passport stamps? We also have other proof of meeting like photos and receipts.

Thanks in Advance!

Ok great, thank you for the reply. If anyone else sees anything that may be of concern please let me know.

It sounds like you're fine.  That's very similar to what we submitted with no issue.

If I may ask what was your RFE for?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of meeting question

I am about to start our I-129F petition and was just wondering if what we have is enough to prove of our 2 meetings since we met.

I first flew to Astrakhan, Russia and still have all my boarding passes from this trip. They have dates including the year 2013 on the passes. I have my passport with my visa stamps that show I entered and left the country. I also have bank withdrawals and credit card purchase history that shows I used my cards in Astrakhan.

We recently met in Moscow last week and I have my boarding passes from Moscow to London and eventually Dallas. She has only her boarding pass from Moscow to Astrakhan. I also have our Hotel receipt from the Moscow trip as well as the visa support documents the hotel gave me for my Russian Visa. Again I also have bank statements and credit card purchases that show I used my card in Moscow.

We have several photos from Astrakhan and Moscow of us together. We have pictures of us standing in front of St. Basils Cathedral (a significant Moscow tourist destination). We also have tickets from the Metro that we used to get around.

I think I have good proof of our meetings but wanted to be sure. I am only concerned about the fact that she and I both lost our boarding passes for our flights TO Moscow. We do have our boarding passes from Moscow to our designated homes (Astrakhan and Dallas).

Can anyone let me know if I am ok or if there is something else I need to gather for proof of our meeting?

Thank you in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCredit card / Debit card transactions

Format doesn't matter so much, hi-lighting those transactions and making things easy for them to follow matters greatly.

Great thank you, will make sure that everything is easy for them to find and locate!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCredit card / Debit card transactions

Sure but only if they detail places where you claim you met.  Personally I brought US cash and kept all my currency exchange receipts and used those as part of my proof of being in Kiev during the time period we claimed.

The purchases do show the locations that we met, first Astrakhan then Moscow. I have boarding passes that coincide with my trips to those locations. Just was wondering if there is a certain format they prefer the credit card statements and debit card statements in.

Yes passport stamps of entry and exit into Russia as well as my Visas.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCredit card / Debit card transactions

Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

Yes this is for meeting in the past 2 years. We have boarding passes from our Moscow trip, and I have my boarding passes when I flew to Astrakhan her home city. We also have Hotel confirmation for my Russian visa that we stayed in during Moscow last week as well as a printed receipt from the hotel.

I just also wanted to include withdrawals and purchases on my debit card and credit card to give them everything. So that there is no chance for an RFE. I am wanting to make this go as smooth and quickly as possible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCredit card / Debit card transactions

How do I need to present these in the I-129F petition packet? Can I just print screenshots online of my transactions or do I need to request some sort of formal receipt of the transactions?

I know that Bank of America offers the ability to download the transactions for the allotted time period into a PDF. Should I just download these and print?

Thank you in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Date question

My fiancé and I just finished filling out her G325A form on the computer, she printed it and signed it in  blue ink. She didn't sign the date in her signature, we typed it in when we did the form.

Will this be a problem? I didn't really think about it before she sent the form. It is on the way from Russia now.. I can have her send another but if it is not that big of a deal then I wont worry about it.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F link not working and a quick question

The link has been having issues for a while now. For me, what worked was using Internet Explorer to open it - both Firefox and Chrome gave me problems, but IE worked fine for both me and my fiance.

As for the proof of relationship, what's most important as you get the I-129F packet ready, is proof that you have met in person in the last 2 years. The best thing to use for now is boarding passes, passport stamps, ATM receipts, stuff like that. Photos of the two of you together are good but they are considered secondary evidence. Skip the logs for now, they're not needed. They'll be used for later, at the Embassy interview, as proof of ongoing relationship, and even then, depending on the consulate, might not even be needed at all.

Great we have all this information on hand so that's good to know. Quick question, on the ATM receipts can I print an itemized statement of my credit card and debit card showing ATM withdrawals and purchases? I do not have the actual paper receipts that the ATMs print.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F link not working and a quick question

So I am trying to download a blank version of the I-129F form and the link from here and the USCIS website are not working. It just opens a page full of wingdings font. Anyone know where else I may be able to get the form? Or if the link will work again soon?

Also, how far back do I need to go for proof of an ongoing relationship? My fiancee and I spoke mainly on Skype in the beginning but for some reason Skype didn't save my messages prior to early June. We do have significant messages on VK/Skype/iMessage and texts/phone calls from early June to present though.

Thanks in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

For anyone else wondering the same thing: I just got an email response back from Elena's Models that said they are not an IMB and that they have no written consent documents for their women.

I am going to put that we met on EM but answer No to it being an IMB.

Thank you everyone who responded and I hope this thread helps people in the future.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

Maybe then EM is not an IMB since they did not execute this mystery form.

So do I put EM as how we met and then not check the box for imb? I emailed EM asking if they have this form or anything. I will see what they say if they ever get back to me.

Really stressed about this one question.

Because Elena's Models is an Australian company. As such, they are not subject to US laws and are therefore not required to provide the IMBRA talk to their women clients. Which means, that they are IMBRA compliant.

I listed them on the i-129 with their LA address, and it created no problems with the K-1 visa application.

I see but the I-129F recently changed to make you provide the written consent form if you met on an IMB site. Can I check yes and explain on question 34 that we never received this form or ever signed anything?

TheFoxxyMaleRussia2013-11-11 13:44:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

I read on the USCIS site that you, "must provide the signed, written consent form that the IMB obtained from your beneficiary authorizing the release of his or her personal contact information to you."

What if they never did this? I don't know what to do, neither does my fiancée. Getting really agitated how nit picky this process is becoming.

TheFoxxyMaleRussia2013-11-11 13:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

I don't remember anything about the consent form, so maybe that is a new thing on the form.  Ask your fiance is she had to send any information to EM prior to joining, she may have consented online.

I asked her, she said no. We have no idea what this form is or could be. I am starting to think I should just answer no and say that we met in a chat room or something to avoid the headache.

Not really sure what to do. I tried to see if there is a universal IMBRA form you can sign online or something but with no luck I found nothing.

TheFoxxyMaleRussia2013-11-11 13:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

That's all I did....list their address, etc.  There is not written consent form but I do believe we needed to answer some information before we joined? ....was a long time ago....anyway not an issue.

Ok thank you. I think the form may have changed recently so I have had a problem finding anyone with a solid answer. I will just put that we met online at EM, we did not have to sign a written consent form and that I gathered no personal information about her through the site but only through after speaking. I will put the address url of EM and then move on.

I hope that everything will be ok!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

Same here.  It is not am IMB but on our petition I did list it as one.  Wasn't a problem.

Ok so can I list EM as how we met and that it is an IMB and just not attach this consent form? Or if I check yes do I HAVE to attach this consent form?

Any clarification would be extremely helpful. Thank you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

Great! We have established that EM is an IMB and follows IMBRA guidelines. Now about the written consent form, she never signed anything to give consent of me to have access to her information.

Is this something we have to find and pursue? Or do we just list EM and the address and not worry about this written consent?

TheFoxxyMaleRussia2013-11-11 10:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

I also me my wife (one time fiance) on Elena's Models.

They are indeed an IMB and they are also IMBRA compliant. List them on your i-129 and things will go without a problem.

Great, thank you for the quick response. What about this written consent form from the IMB? We are clueless as to what this is or where to get it. Is it necessary? Or can we just put EM url and address down and move on?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 35a

I met my fiancée on Elena's Models a year ago. I am filling out the I-129F to send in next week and came to this question. I have researched the forums for a clear answer but had trouble finding anything of solidity.

Is Elena's Models an IMB? If so, she and I have no idea what this IMB form that she was supposed to have signed is. Is this something I need to find and print and have her sign? Is EM not an IMB?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRussian Police Background Check and Vaccination Certificate. Very Confused.

Ok, so my fiancee is getting all the information for the interview coming up soon, one of the things that caught us off guard was that she tried to get a police record the other day but they said that it will take them 30 Days. Is this a normal amount of time to get a police record? I mean, I would think it would be pretty darn easy. I am very curious, especially those working in Russia, if 30 days is a normal waiting time or if the police is just being hard to work with?

Also, she tried going into the doctors the other day to get a certificate of her vaccinations but her doctor was totally confused on what she was talking about. She doesn't know what to do and where to go to get her vaccination certificate if the doctor can not even help!

She does not live in some super small town, she lives in a city of over 1 million so I would imagine that she is not the first girl to apply for a k 1 visa and need all this information.

Any help is much appreciatied

Yes the police record takes 30 days or more. This is normal.

The medical has to be done at a sanctioned physician, not just any where.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAttorney or rapid visa services?

They can guarantee anything they want, it does not mean one will get the end result of what was guaranteed.  Hence, their money back guarantee, which is targeted to give the customer peace of mind.

If the process were so simple, there would not be a need for lawyers, rapidvisa services, or even, dare I say, self-help sites like VJ. :)

Like I said in my post, the only time a lawyer is really a necessity is when the case is complicated. I feel like you are taking what we are saying personal.

No one cares if you used a lawyer or not.. If you have your visa and are with your fiancée then that is all that matters.

I just do not want people thinking that lawyer or attorneys office is going to make their process any easier or quicker. Lawyers already leach enough money out of our economy.

TheFoxxyMaleRussia2014-03-25 13:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAttorney or rapid visa services?

I do not see any reason why you would pay any amount of money for someone else to do this visa for you. With this website and the other resources on the internet it was not difficult to put the petition together correctly and send it in.

I would only consider an attorney if your case is complicated (divorce, criminal history, unique situations, etc.)

Save yourself the money and just follow the guidelines here, search forum posts and make threads if you are unsure of what to do.

They cannot guarantee a CO approves your visa. It does not matter if the forms are filled out correctly. They have no power over COs in order to guarantee an approval. They could guarantee they will fill out your paperwork correctly and in a timely manner, but the guarantee of of visa approval is purely for marketing and yes, complete bunk.

They guarantee approval or money back because 99%+ get approved. The process is fairly simple, a middle school student could do it. If you get denied based off paperwork or evidence then you probably shouldn't be approved anyway.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalled my Senator's office - Didn't end well.

Most systems are broken, this one is not an exception,it's not perfect, but it is what it is,and you have every right to complain about it,thats what makes democratic countries so great, you have waited 4 months or so,that's nothing, chill, relax it will come...I'm just venting about people that think they deserve some special treatment after a few months of waiting...

You're right, most systems are broken. This one is a glaring example of that, sadly!! And you're right, 4 and a half months isn't that long compared to how long many have been waiting. But while I'm just sitting here waiting, why not contact the people who are most likely to get changes made? Just one person alone won't accomplish anything but if people took an active interest in writing, calling, emailing, etc. their representatives they'd eventually have to take a look at it. I'm waiting either way, may as well try to bring some light to the issue. Several of my friends work for the Dept of Justice, Dept of State and I know what a mess it is, but they DO make changes if enough people complain. Squeaky wheels get the oil and whatnot. :)
