Assets abroad for K1- I-134 still needed?

We live in Australia and your assets do count. No matter what you have to have the AOS but when you have income from abroad you have to have $72k in savings. We had half of that and the Consulate in Sydney told us our house would count as the rest. I got approved on the sale of our house.

We did not need a joint sponsor, my husband (USC) just had to sponsor me even though we don't live ther but we had the cash or assets needed.

Packet 3 forms and USC child

No all that needs to be done is count him in the "family" size that is all. He is a USC. I had a doctors receptionist here in Brisbane not believe me when I said my daughter has never lived there but she doesn't have to have any injections or X-rays. She said that cant happen and she would have to get all the same as me.... Which is not true....

Too many people offer advice that have no idea...lol

We got that list and found the one in our area. The door was locked and office for that address empty. We called. They said call back Friday (today). At least we are on the right trail.

Ya, it is that straightforward -
get into a deferred / secondary inspection office of the CBP,
ask for the shift supervisor,
and get it sorted, culminating in a NEW I-94.

no queues, no lines, no waiting..
don't use a phone..
just go !

We located a deferred inspection site and found the office but only managed to talk to them on the phone, since it appears the office has moved. My friends SO entered the US with a K-1 on NOV 5 2012. The I-94 shows the expiration date as FEB 2 2012.

FEB 2nd is the correct expiration date but it should be 2013 instead of 2012, wouldn't you think?

It's now DEC 19th but they could not find her in their computer according to the I-94 number. They asked us to call back on Friday this week. And a closer look at the I-94 also reveals the inspector at the entry port misspelled her first name.

They never realized the date mistake until they applied for a SS#. They were told by that office that her visa had expired.

Is there a possibility her misspelled first name could be a problem?

Our friend's SO enter the US with Marriage Visa. But the agent at the entry port stamped the expiration date of the visa only 30 days out, not 90. How do we correct this issue?

DS-157 Question about #10 (K1-Visa)

Hey guys! First of all, i would like thank visajourney for their tremendous help on our K1 Visa Application.

I have a question about the DS-157 question 10... You see, i was born in Libya and i was issued a Libyan visa as a child. My dad was a Libyan and my moom is a Filipina. They used my Libyan passport at first, then decided to register me as a Filipino born abroad (late registration at the Philippine Embassy) and therefore,made me a Filipino passport. I have been using my Philippine passport since age 5.

My question is, if I put Philippines and Libya on question 10, do I need to have supporting documents that i had a Libyan passport when i was kid? Will they question it in the future? Thanks in advance!

Help with from Form DS-156-K - evidence of engagement

Hi there,

Approaching the end, finally. I have my medical appointment booked for July 3rd, so now I just have to fill out and send off a few more forms to the embassy.

They're all quite straightforward, but form Form DS-156-K says that I have to attach proof of engagement in order to apply. I don't have a ring, though, and it's all just verbal. We're minimalist people and won't be worrying about a ring (yet!) as our priority is saving as much money as possible so that we can start our life together in the best way (an expensive ring will not help us with this one bit).

So, what can I send them? In the very first forms we sent we had the signed declarations of love/proposal etc, is that not enough?

Hey everyone!

I am working on filling out my g325a (Petitioner) and I have some odd questions that hopefully someone has insight on.

I rented an apartment (had the lease in my name) but never changed my address on my ID. I want to include this address because I want to be fully transparent with everything. If I include it and the Government has no record of it will this cause a problem?

I only know the year but not the exact month of move in\out. (lost the lease papers, cannot find the rental management company either) What should I put for the times that I lived there?

Starting out

1. The waiting time for I-129F petition approval according to the published timeframe of USCIS is 5 months but then it depends on the case. Some might get it earlier or some get it later... you can browse VJ members timeline for that.

2. After your petition has been approved, meaning you already recieved your NOA2 (approval)... it will be valid for 4 months. You can make this as a guideline whether/ until when you can "postpone" your interview. Just bear in mind that you must have your interview within that 4 months validity.

So if I want the interview to be within the 4 months validity but i don't enter the country until 23rd may, i don't want to get my NOA2 until the beginning of march, which will allow me a month on returning to have the interview? Which if the 5 months approval wait time is accurate, I shouldn't file until around october time?

Does that sound like a good approach?

HI all,

I am brand new to this site and after debating whether to go through a site like rapid visa I thought I'd give this a try first. Hope you can help.

So I am about to file the i129F, hopefully within the next couple of weeks, I am the UK fiancé of a US citizen but I'll be doing all the paperwork preparation.

Our situation is this; we have been together for almost 3 years, both working on cruise ships, we are currently on a ship together and I am in the US on C1D crewmember's visa. I will be returning to the UK in October for 3 weeks before flying back to the ship for 6 months. When I finish that contract in May of 2014 I am hoping that everything will be set up in order that I can Join my fiance in Texas in June, marry and remain in the US for my AOS.

Im assuming that my interview scheduling will not be so fast that I can do it in October whist I am home so my questons are:

Am I able to postpone the interview at the London US Embassy until I arrive home in May?

If so, how long from the date of interview until I can enter the US to marry?

What impact does my C1D Visa have on the whole process?

C1D affect on K1 application?

Hi,

So I'm intending to file my i129f in November of this year to allow 5 months for the NOA2 which will allow me to schedule my interview at the embassy in London in June based on the subsequent 4 months validity.

This is because my fiance and I work on cruise ships throughout the year, and I do not get back to the UK to go for the interview until the end of May so my timing needs to be pretty good. He is an american citizen and I work on a C1D Crewmember's visa which is valid for 10 years. I will already be on the ship (ie in the US) by November when I file, will this have any effect on the status of my application?

I had heard from a friend that while she had only filed her i129f from australia, she entered the states on a visa waiver and when she got back her application had been cancelled?

Can anyone enlighten me on this or where to find the information?

You have to be more specific. Did he file the G-325, send proof of you two meeting? What about letters of intent etc.

He didnt asked about our photos,emails,chat logs and etc. He said we need to wait for the second step.

I-129F Denied :(

That's OK, like I said I feel foolish now. The thing is, I downloaded the I-129F instructions, and also the Fiance help pdf. None of them say I need to submit evidence of anything with the I-129F form. I knew more would be required eventually, after the I-129F is approved and when going for the interview, but I did not know I needed to submit a whole packet with the initial form. I was just in the Philippines in May, and also last year, so I have met her 2 times in the last 2 years. I can easily prove everything. I mostly used Xoom to send her money, but they for some reason closed my account, so for a while I used Western Union, but I was eventually able to create a new account with Xoom and have mostly been using them for the last year.

We have the same problem Mike. My fiance filled the form and mailed it with the pay on Nov,2012 and he said he got the receipt last Jan 2013,we didnt attache any files or documents from us. Now,i am reading to ur prob,it seems like it we have the same problem

We never got denied ever since,coz this is our first time to file for the k-1 visa.By the way,how long it will take to get the filled form with a letter that was denied as u have said. Against my better judgment, and having been pushed by my mother and my fiance's aunt(who is a lawyer but not an immigration lawyer), I only sent in the actual I-129f form, nothing else. Does this mean it will automatically be turned down after 5 months or will I be sent an RFE? I've received the NOA1 in December.

My fiance filled the form with pay and mailed it on Nov.2012 and he got the receipt last Jan 2013,.He just sent the filled form and pay,nothing else,without any of our documents. What did u do about it? I am getting worried,coz i have read this kind of problem here and just knew that it will be deny and it takes a long time to refile again.

VSC Processing Time Update

I checked my case status today and used the built-in Processing Times chart. The chart has been updated to reflect dates as of January 31 - and it says the average VSC processing time is only 5 months!

This is an improvement of an entire month since the last time I reviewed this data.

Has anyone experienced the benefit of this speedier processing? Should I be hopeful?

K1 divorce document

Consulate specific. Some consulates require translations even of native language documents (Russia and Ukraine used to require this but recently changed) CHECK with the consulate, their specific instructions for applying for the visa will tell you.

USCIS requires a translation for ALL documents and the OP will be submitting her divorce document with the AOS, ROC and Citizenship in the future so he needs to get it translated and get several copies of the translation with original signature. There is FAR MORE to this process than the visa petition or visa application. I recommend translations of any and ALL important documents needed for LIFE, not just for a visa.

No she did not. When I called the NVC, they took the new address but they said that changed has I be made at the Embassy. I called the Embassy in Sing and they told me to call the NVC. So I emailed the US Embassy in Sing giving them all the required info and asked them to respond so I would know what they were going to do. I asked the rep at NVC if she can just go to the Embassy and request the packet and they said that she would need an appointment before going up there. If the packet is sent back to the Embassy, will they send out another? Thanks for responding. I appreciate it
