PhilippinesPolice Clearence from Hong Kong

PhilippinesPolice Clearence from Hong Kong
Thanks for the input, all of you. It is my understanding that some people have recieved their clearence direct to them even though the HK police website says it will send it to the Embassy. What ever works,I dont care how we recieve it as long as some one gets it. It will be some time before we get our NOA2, but I am getting all the info I can so I will be prepared to explain to my wife how to go about this process.Take care

PhilippinesPolice Clearence from Hong Kong
My wife is now in PI living with her family and our son.I have been in touch with the HK police & they advised me of the precedure, however for her CR-1 visa these things need to be sent to the NVC before she has an appt @ embassy. So we seem to have a situation in getting the clearance with the paper from the embassy so that NVC will send the packet to the embassy for an appt to be scheduled so that she can get the paper????Am I really missng something here?I understand the rest of the process however I just can't seem to figure this part out. I am sure that I am missing something hidden in plain site here. Thanks for the input.

PhilippinesPolice Clearence from Hong Kong
Hi All,
In researching things I see that I must Submit Police Clearance to NVC from Hong Kong for my wife,as she worked there for 4yrs, if we intend to follow CR-1 route. How does She get the required letter from the US Embassy in Manila to send to HK requesting this. The HK police say that the letter must come from the US embassy stating that she is under visa visa process and that she needs a police report to be sent to the embassy. Thanks for any help or even just clarifying things if I am misunderstanding this.

Philippinesquestion regarding consular report of birth abroad
haole,
DNA testing is at the discression of the CO. If they like all the supporting paperwork that we submit they will not ask for paterenty tests. Some people have been required to get DNA tests done while others have not. All I can get from that is it is just up to the CO who reviews the case.

Philippinesquestion regarding consular report of birth abroad
tz,
Our appt for our sons CRBA is july 7. From everything i have read after the CRBA is issued and your son has a US passport he is treated as a US citizen. No need for CFO, etc. He will maintain his dual citizenship coz he was born in the Fils. As long as he has his CRBA/passport he is to be treated as a US citizen.I will post about our appt as asap after we are done. Good luck with the appt on the 9th.

hello all, sorry i could not post earlier, but limited access here in the province.all went welll at the USEM in manila.only a short interigation from the CO.our sons CRBA/passport on on the way.of course we did have to pay the Delbros syndicate their cut.oh well, i am just happy this step is done.my only real advice at this point is to have all your proof together tight or you will be looking at DNA test.we got away without the DNA test coz the CO looked at our son and laughed saying this is obviously your child, hahaha.anyway i will be checking in a couple more times during this trip.i will be more than happy to answer any specifics asap. take care & good hunting

HELLO ALL,
I AM GOING TO BE IN MANILA IN JULY FOR OUR CRBA APPT.MY WIFE/SON WILL MEET ME THERE FOR OUR JULY 7TH APPT.THEN WE WILL GO BACK TO GENSAN.IT SEEMS THAT THE DNA TEST IS COMPLETELY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE CONSULATE OFFICER DOING THE INTERVIEW FOR THE CRBA.IT IS NOT ASKED FOR IF ALL YOUR DOCS ARE IN ORDER. I WILL MAKE SURE TO POST AFTER OUR APPT TO LET EVERYONE CONCERNED KNOW WHAT THEY ASKED FOR AND HOW IT WENT.

Thanks in Advance.Me and my fiancee are starting to gather documents for CRBA for our daughter. We already ordered the forms.Just want to ask..when did you submit your son's application for CRBA to the US Embassy? How long it takes until they called for your son's appointment???Keep us posted here after your son's appointment. It will help us here specially to those who are doing CRBA too.

Good luck!!!

hey mist,
i got all my docs together and sent them to the embassy from texas so it took alittle time to get there.anyway,i waited 3 wks then i emailed the embassy @ the american citizen services email ad(ACSINFOMANILA@STATE.GOV)..it took them a couple of days but they emailed me with an appt date.they ask that i bring all original supporting doc & copies of all docs.i am i am getting additional docs together so that i can avoid the dna test. i know that CJ is my son but i also know it is best to avoid any undo precedures that may delay this.i just have a feeling that they will tell me i have to wait for the results and then return to the embassy again.i would rather send my time with my family in Maasim vs. sitting in motel in Manila.Good Luck

Philippinesexcess baggage..
hey there,
i know both EVA & Cathay allow 40kg/70lbs per bag.you can check 2 bags. i always travel with more than 100lbs of stuff. I dont know about the other airlines but American allows you to check your bags based on your international carriers weight limit. Some times you need to remind them of this if you get a newbie at the counter. They also wave the new bag fee for international travelers. I called AA to confirn all this for my trip in july. if you have more than 140lbs of stuff perhaps you should consider leaving the bricks behind. As far as access weight fees for traveling within the Phils you just have to eat those fees. Good Luck sorting thru your stuff.

PhilippinesOdd questions...hopeing for some help!
hey ray,
We had our son in Gensan july 07 in the hospital there. The doctor botched(my opinion) the labor induction and had to due a C-section. Anyway, the total out of pocket was somewhere around php50k.They required a 10k deposit to start the C-section even though the baby and mom were in distress. It all worked out ok in the end but many things must be paid up-front. then the balance was due prior to discharge. My wife did have Fil-health,national insurance, so this reduced the total to the 50k range. If all goes well and no surgery is needed then it should be quite a bit less.I work in a hospital here in the U.S. so needless to say the whole thing was a real eye-opener about how good we have it here. Other people that i talked to have confirmed my hypothesis that if they know an American is paying for everything then C-sections seem to happen alittle quicker. I was not able to be with my wife during the induction process so i cant confirm that her/baby were really in danger thus nessesitating an emergency section and the doctor was not comfortable answering my very detailed questions as to what went wrong with the induction. She only said that there was Cephalopelvic disproportion and yes i do know what that is.all in all things worked out and mom and son did great recovering. I hope things work out great for all three of you. Good Luck!!

P.S. they still do things the old way there, medicaly speaking.

Philippinestourist visa to the Philippines
Yah,
if you need to stay longer than 21 days just go to BI office where ever you are and take 2 passport photos from any photo store there and you will fill out a couple of forms and pay 2300 peso +/- and they will extend your stay for another 38 days. visit the BI office prior to your 21 days though.I do this each time I go there. Good luck/ have fun

PhilippinesOld Debt & NBI clearence
Hey Folks,
My wife seems to have an old debt of an unpaid loan from when she worked in Hong Kong that she was just contacted about. This loan was issued thru a finance company in the PI to her in HK. It seems they have offices in many places where OFWs are prevalent. She has a current NBI clearence(one month old) she got in prep for her interview. The current clearence is good/clear. Anyway, can this debt affect her NBI clearence? Will this current NBI be good for interview within the next 4 months?

PhilippinesNo Immunizations Records for Medical
Hello All,
We just got our NOA2 and are preparing for next phase of process. My wife has no proof of immunizations. I know that this is not completly uncommon. Will she just have to "suck it up" and get them at the medical or should I have her get a Titer series, before the medical, to show what immunizations she does not need. How have others delt with this problem at SMLEC? We have maybe 2 months or so before her medical is needed. Thanks for the input.

Hello Vj'ers,
My son was born in the Philippines but he now has his US passport and Cert. of his US cITIZENSHIP. he is here with me in Georgia now. My questions are;;

1.Is he also considered a citizen of the Philippines?
2.Do i have to get him a Philippine passport too or his birth their is enough proof that he is also a Filipino? since it's his native birth place?
3.what should i do to have his dual citizenship?is it a good idea?

thank you very much in advance for any input.

Hi there,

You should go to Philippine Consulate with your child's Birth Records and whatever else they require and get a Philippine Passport. We will go to the one in Jacksonville. Not sure where the one is in Georgia. Google baby, Google!
Also, you want to do that ASAP, while you are still a Filipino citizen.
That's what we were told by Immigration.

FOR THOSE STILL IN PI. GET YOUR CHILD'S PHILIPPINE PASSPORT IMMEDIATELY. THAT WAY YOU WONT HAVE TO PAY PENALTIES FOR YOUR US CITIZEN CHILD "OVERSTAYING"!

Yes, we paid that as well as Exit Fees and some other mess.
The officials conveniently told us about that AFTER we paid already! They also so said there is no more fee to be paid to get a Passport. I'm not sure how true that is. Probably not at all.
Immigration and emigration IS a business. Especially in PI! But u knew THAT already, lol!

I was under the impression that it was unlawful to have multiple passports. Please correct me if I'm wrong. My son is still in the RP with my wife. He has his CRBA/US passportIf we can get out of paying the "overstay" screw-job that would be great.

PhilippinesQuestion and Clarification regarding I-134 Form
ange,
i just used the example 134 here on the VJ site. you can clear each field then type in what you need then print it up.i just followed the lead of the person who posted the form.if you are over the 125% many people dont include the other info i.e. savings, life insurance etc. its up to you. the new 134 does not need to be notarized, just signed by you. the big thing they seem to look at is your tax/earning papers.go with the IRS tax transcripts and your W-2's.

Philippinese-ticket (what is needed at airport?)
in reference to the credit card thing.some travelers have been asked for a copy of the puchaser's credit card while others have not. I would make a copy of your card and scan it to your computer and email to your asawa. she can then print it up at an internet cafe and have it just in case.remember the interview motto "better to have it and not need it, than need it and be screwed.i'm sure neither of you want any grief at the airport over something so small. just a suggestion. good luck

Philippines2 consecutive chest x-rays in a month harmful?
Hello,You may get some different answers from people who are really paranoid of xray radiation, however, the radiation output from a modern xray machine is really very little. A couple of xrays wont hurt you. You dont want to get 2 xrays a week for a year, but who would. Dont worry about it unless you are in the first trimester of preg. Take a deep breath and go into your medical and interview with confidence knowing that you are almost through with this whole thing. That is the same advice I gave to my wife just last week when she had her med & interview. Good Luck

Hey All,
I am in total shock at what has happened in the last 2wks. VSC sent our petition to NVC Aug 4th'ish and when I called NVC on the 9th to inquire if they recieved it yet I recieved our case # and was told it was already on its way to manila.WHAT THE HELL!!! Today my wife txt me to say she has recieved the case letter from USEM. I was not even expecting this kind of speed. Two wks from VSC to reciept of Embassy letter!!!! Anyway, I called the Appt line and the wife has appt Feb 25 @ 0700. I was planning optimisticaly for maybe a late March date even happily an early April time. So, now I will be scrambling to get the up-to-date docs to the wife before appt. She already has most as I took it all with me in July when I went back for our first anniversary. Any suggestions about getting the docs there? DHL vs. UPS....Thanks

PhilippinesNursing In the USA
Hey Kardi,
When you apply to the state board of nursing in what-ever state you will be living in they will do an FBI backgroung check. Since you will not have anything on that report maybe it will be a good idea to submit a Police Clearance from the Phils to them. you don't want to have to go through the trouble of trying to get a clearance from the Phils after you are already here, so bring one or two with you.I dont know that it is required but it is just a thought. You should check with the BON in the state you will live. Post you state and maybe someone else can give more specific info.check out this website for good NCLEX study practice.http://198.146.4.5/nclexrn3500/mainMenu. I use it alot. Good luck

Hey Gloria,
I know what ur talking about. My wife had her interview Feb.25 and left with the pink. She was told they were just waiting on the Police Clearance from HongKong and medical results. I gave them 1 month and when i called, the girl told me they got the PC but they still needed the NSO Cert of Marriage, which my wife turned over to them at the interview. Anyway, I told the wife to send them another one "NOW". I was told to wait another month then call back. I emailed the embassy to inquire about the "where-abouts" of the Marriage Cert and let them know I would be following up on this shortly. They have always been good about replying to my emails so I hope this works out soon.I already have her tickets for May 27. That's 2 months so I hope they get it straight withing the next month. Good luck.
