My husband and I are filling out form I-864 Affidavit of Support and have a question about Part 5 - Household Size.

My hubby is the Sponsoring USC, and I am the Principal Sponsored Immigrant. The instructions say not to count anyone twice, so should he enter "0" under 21/C PERSONS NOT SPONSORED ON THIS AFFIDAVIT, If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse.

I suppose I am accounted for under 21/A PERSONS YOU ARE SPONSORING ON THIS AFFIDAVIT

SEE ATTACHED - This is how we have it filled out so far :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp me to clarify a few answers on I-485 and I-130 please!
I posted this in another section of the VJ forum, but I thought maybe I would have some better luck in this section of VJ.
Maybe i'm over-thinking some of these simple questions, but i sure could use some help to clarify a few things. any help is very much appreciated!

FORM I-130

When I had entered the US on my student visa, the officer made an error and stamped my passport with an M1 visa. Sevis called my school and I had to go to immigration to work this out. They ripped out my I-94 and replaced it with a new one. They wrote notes detailing the correction to an F1 visa.
On the old (original) I-94 there was a stamp showing my initial entry and a recent visit back to Canada (March 2010).
Now my passport only shows 1 stamp on my new I-94 - my original date of entry as a student, into the US. Should I list the original date as my last date of entry? Or should I list the date of my last entry into the US that I know if (March, 2010) even tho it is not reflected in my passport...?

What is an A#? I know this is an Alien # but is it the same as my I-94 number? Or, how do I find my A#?

FORM I-485

Part 2 - reason why I am filing for I-485 Choice A-J
I'm not sure what to check off here? I'm not Cuban so none of those options apply to me. I'm Canadian, originally in the States on an F1 and now my husband and I are married... I've chosen option A by ruling out all of the others that do not apply to me. Does this seem right?
What is a Non-Immigrant #? Where can I find this number?
How do I know which Consulate issued me my student visa? I mailed my documents in from Canada and paid SEVIS, then they mailed me my receipts. At the airport in Montreal, the US immigration officer completed my I-94 and stapled it into my passport.
The only numbers i can see on any of my documents include a 11 digit number (Admission #) on my I-94 and I also have a SEVIS number (student #)

Thanks for the help! If you need more background on me, read my post "Student married.. Now what?!" http://www.visajourn...rried-now-what/

I have emailed them. They wont answer calls. I know from trying to get info about the interview. First she told him she was sending it back to the processing center, then she told him she was denying it, so I have no idea. He got a 221 form but there is no reason on it... should there be?
When I emailed, I said I felt we had been discriminated against based solely on my appearance because thats what she kept talking about was how old I looked and asked very little about us and talked about how handsome he was.
I asked for appeal. I hope that was the right thing.

Hubs should have asked to speak with her supervisor and let them know he feels he is being sexually harassed. He could have asked for someone else to conduct the interview. Once you feel strong discrimination against you or your case, you don't stay embarassed or keep your mouth shut, you scream on top of your lungs that you want justice. I know that's what I would do, I wouldn't humbly take my blue slip and walk out, hel* no!

maybe combined with other "issues" the CO saw, but one trip alone does not constitute an issue or red flag.

I don't see why it wouldn't be an issue or a flag in itself. I mean I am sorry it happened to you guys but I am just being realistic and honest.

I love my husband with all my heart and I trust him with my life, but there were moments when I had to take a step back and evaluate our choices because I see the man once a year!!!! And mind you, we have been together for 6 years.
So if I had my doubts from time to time being "actively involved in that relationship" and I know the man inside out and he knows me the same, then I don't see how you can be so convinced that a singular meeting between two people before they take the plunge right away, why wouldn't that raise eyebrows for outsiders ( embassy)? They have every right to be doubtful of that, it is their job to be suspicious and it is your job to prove you genuinely love one another, so in my humble opinion, your comment is a little naive.

Best of luck to all of you guys, I hope you are united with your loved ones soon!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage certificate translations
Before getting married to my husband in Bosnia-Herzegovina, I have contacted the Embassy of U.S.A in Bosnia, and was given the following instructions in order for our marriage / documents to be legaly recognized in USA:

In addition to receiving the "regular"Bosnian marriage certificate, we have requested an international marriage certificate.
The form is in French, name on the form is Extrait De L'Acte De Mariage No. 002798, Formule B, and also it has Bosnian translations on it.
We then took the international marriage certificate to the municipal court in the town where we married and received an apostille stamp.
We have done all this as guided by US Embassy.

However, in the guide above on this website it says that all documents that need to be submitted with I -130 must be translated into English.

My questions:

1.Anyone else had this same form / marriage certificate like us?
2. Is this "international" marriage certificate exempt from the translate into English rule?
3.If I must translate the marriage certificate into English, who performs such services? Where do I go, where to start my search? (I live in Garland, TX - Dallas County, if someone happens to know of a particular location)

Thank you all for your help!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCalling hubby and wifey, emails and chats
My question is a little off topic, but it pertains to email/chats evidence:
Namely, does one have to prove that one is the account holder for the email address that appears in the evidnece?
In other words, if I am using my hotmail/yahoo account and submit emails as evidence of bona fide marriage (together with phone records), will they ask me to "prove" that it is my account?
May be a stupid question, but I am just making sure I cover all my bases before I turn any of the paperwork in.
Your advice is very much appreciated, ya'll!

I haven't filed yet, I am sending the initial paperwork in this week ( I-130), so I was wondering if the affidavits I got are ok to send in, or if I should ask for them to write factual, "under the penalty of perjury I proclaim that I believe Lejla and Kenan's marriage is a truthful one" kind of affidavit smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of bona fide relationship
Hey ya'll,

I had my family members write affidavits of bona fide marriage for my husband and I due to the lack of vested financial interest in the marriage, children, etc.
The persons writing the letters are my aunts and cousins, my parents and my sister (all US citizens) who were present at our wedding and have known about our relationship for years. In their letters, they wrote wonderful things about how they have close relationship with me over the years and how they believe they are good judge of my character, they described meeting my husband (then fiance), and shared their insights into why they believe our marriage is a true union between two pple committed to be together. Letters are half page to one page lenghts, but do have a personal touch to them.

My question to you is: out of all of you who have been approved for visa, or the ones who are just about done with the process, how many of you have kept the affidavits factual and had your family and friends write just the minimum info, and how many of you have submitted affidavits that were a little heart felt, personal (maybe almost a little cheesy:) ?
I wanna make sure the affidavits are professional and official document like, but at the same time I kinda feel that the fact that they shared all these things about my character and their observations about my husband and our relationship could be beneficial to prove we are not doing this as a visa sham.
I welcome all your thoughts, but at this time I am interested in hearing only from pple who have been through the process and are approved, no newbies please.
No hard feelings, just wanna see what is the right path for me from pple who may know well about this thing....

Thank you all for your input!

Respectfully,

Lejla

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG325-a
So sorry for opening new topic, I am sure there are dozens about G325
I know these questions sound so silly and stupid, but I am so nervous I am not sure I am reading the form right

I am the petitioner, by the way

Question: Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year.
Am I interpreting this right, it is asking me for my very last address outside US where I have lived for one year or longer? Before I became citizen or after, what does it pertain to?
I moved to US 9 years ago, I really really cannot remember my address, and now the street names back where I am from have changed, googling is giving me no results and I have no documentation with me where it shows my last address?! Any suggestions what to write in, if I just put city and state, you think that will raise red flags?

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:
I checked OTHER and wrote in CR1 visa
Is that correct?

I don't have a middle name. You think I should put n/a under middle name, or leave it empty? I have read million times not to leave any spaces empty, so now I am overthinking it I guess smile.gif

Thanks!

QUOTE (LA80 @ Jan 26 2009, 01:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello vareska,
I am not really sure that the passport may cause you troubles, but were you required to give it away once you got the US passport, i.e. citizenship? In any case, whenever you have doubts about some proof, maybe it would be better to think of something else in order to avoid possible headache.

Think if you have any tickets to show (not only to Bosnia, but if you two went somewhere together), maybe letters, e-mail correspondence, photos, phone listings. You may want to add these even if you decide to use your old Bosnian passport as the proof.

Good luck!

Hello there,

Thank you kindly for your response. I already included a ton of telephone call logs/bills, e-mails, letters, chats, airline ticket stubs, pictures (dating back to 2005 as well as wedding photos) and affidavits, so I guess I could get away without disclosing my Bosnian passport... I went with the " the more the better" approach:)
I guess I was just looking for a confirmation of something I already knew was the right thing to do:D Thanks!
Oddly enough, I was not asked to hand in my Bosnian passport when I became a US citizen, I handed it to the lovely lady conducting our citizenship ceremony, but she kindly gave it back to me

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUnexpired foreign passport
I am still working on bits and pieces of my I-130 petition, and originally I was thinking of submitting photocopies of all pages of my Bosnian passport which I no longer use since I became a US Citizen, but the passport does have visa information every time I went to Bosnia to visit my husband.
However, now I am concerned that since the passport has not expired yet, that it might create problems.
I included a cover page which explains that I no longer use that passport since I became USC in 2007, but I am still wondering how it may be viewed that I have a passport of a foreign country.
Your thoughts, anyone?

Thanks

Depends in what the offense was.

Unless his record falls under the Adam Walsh act, (sexual crimes against children) the record would not cause an I-130 petition denial.

Are you serious, that's the only reason one can get denied as far as criminal record is concerned?
My husband and I are squeaky clean, law abiding citizens with genuine relationship. If for any reason we get denied or seeeeeeriously delayed, but they let crimies come to the States no problem, I will be sooooo pissed.

Oh Lord Have Mercy, where did you read " DO NOT SIGN IN BLACK INK" i dont rememeber seeing that anywhere on the applications, or was that a VJ suggestion. i cant take another RFE!! I chose the felt pen thinking that information in pencil could be erased. i was very careful not to smear the writing, and it did not bleed onto the other side of the photo. Im still confused on what happened to my first set of photos. they never said in the letter what happened to the first set.

any way i signed everything in BLACK INK. this is so nerve wrecking. good luck everyone. LOL
