IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview documents... Important?
QUOTE (Len_and_Bren @ Jul 21 2008, 02:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Bring all you have. We took everything but the kitchen sink - including copies of all the documents we had submitted already. They didn't ask for anything, but it felt like a safety cushion.

LOL at your signature.
yeah, youre right. Better safe than sorry.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview documents... Important?
Seems like I've read alot that people will bring their documents to the interview but rarely it seems like they are needed. I'm bringing everything I have just in case but Im curious as to how it would affect my wife's interview if I didnt.

Plus, I'm not sure if I have another copy of my birth cert. I think I sent it with my I-130.
Well, actually... My birth cert would be more for us getting a passport for my new born and not so much for my wife's interview.
Still...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAGE DIFFERENCE?
Me and the wife are same age. One month apart.
Not that it matters. I also think age doesn't matter with love.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy daughter was born!
I know this really isn't on topic but just wanted to share the news with my VJ family.
My wife gave birth to my beautiful baby girl a few days ago!

Ive never been happier. We are still waiting on the news about the interview. I have been wanting to call NVC to see if they can give me a date yet or not but since Im in Japan I keep getting confused with the time zones and when they actually have a live person I can talk to. The automated message is the same.
So anyways Ill post about the results after my wife's interview and also if there are any complications getting my baby girl's passport or coming back to America with her.

If you want to see pictures you can visit my flickr site.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmailing something to the embassy
Just a quick update.

We went to the post office and mailed the package with medical exam and passport plus an ex-pack inside on Oct. 6th.
We ended up getting the visa mailed back to us on that Saturday, Oct. 11th.
I was super shocked at how fast the turn around time was.

But now we have my wifes visa and the babies two passports and we are ready to go to America next Monday!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmailing something to the embassy
My wife had her interview last week and we didnt get the visa due to her medical exam expiring soon.
My wife got her medical exam before we got married because she thought we needed it. This is before we did any research about the visa etc etc.
Anyway, it expires Oct. 11th our flight is Oct. 20th so we just missed it.

So the lady said everything else looks fine. We just need to mail in the new medical exam, passport and an ex-pack(we forgot to buy one of these the first time)
The thing is, the exray is too big to fit into an expack. How do they mail it back to us? She needs it when we enter the states right?
Also how fast a turn around time is it? Its still two weeks away. Im guessing we send it today, hopefully we get the visa in the mail next Friday?

Any experience on this?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBack in the USA!
QUOTE (nimche @ Oct 21 2008, 07:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Congratulations...

How long did it the whole process take at POE. I mean POE processing??

Thank you

It was really not that long at all. We stood in line to go through customs, then when it was our turn showed the man all of our passports. He then took us over to a seperate counter and gave another man my wifes package. Then we waited maybe 10 minutes. Just long enough to change our daughters diaper. Then he came over and asked my wife to sign something and get her finger prints. Then said "All finished, Welcome to America."
They were all super nice, which was very nice to see.
Thats it!

No that Ive had a full nights sleep I feel refreshed and like I could take on the world!! I have my family here with me now and Ive never been happier in my life!!
Dont give up guys!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTax question
I've read through some of the previous threads about Taxes but Im still not sure what I should do in my situation.

Got married in November 2007 but when I did my taxes this year I flied as single cause Ako was still in Japan and no SS#.

Then had the baby in August.

I know I need to file babies info this next year so Im not worried about that but what should I do about the marriage part?
Now that Ako's here in the States with me can I go back and Ammend my return? We are still waiting on her SS# though so should we wait on that before we do anything?

Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSpouse Traveling to US during Process
I dont know how different Columbia is from Japan but my wife is planning a visit to America next month on the VWP(Visa Waiver Program).
I mailed her I-130 petition off in December.

We are taking a big risk because she doesn't really have any ties to Japan. She lives with her parents and isn't working because she is pregnant.
Still... we are praying that the officer will be nice that day and let her in.

Ticket prices right now are crazy expensive but still she wants to try.

If you want I will update next month and let you know if she was able to get in or not.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresapplying for Japanese spouse visa while wifes visa is pending.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.
Right now Wife's I-130 visa is still pending but I was thinking about applying for a spouse visa to live and work in Japan for a year or two until her visa is completed. Once she gets her visa we move back to America. I hear in Japan I could get a Spouse visa within a matter of months.

Is that possible or does that just screw everything up because I need to show I can support her with my job?
