Neighbors with drug convictions, yeah. But they buried that part of his story deep in the article...as they did when this story broke two weeks ago.

CanadaDriving licence from Quebec dose it work in Georgia?
Drivers From Other Nations

Click here if you are not a US citizen

Georgia recognizes valid driver licenses issued to and held by residents of other countries as long as the "Out Of Country" license is valid. You do not need to apply unless you become a resident of Georgia. If you choose to become a resident the following policies must be met in each tier:

Tier 1

All drivers from other nations, including Canada, must pass Georgia's written and road test to be issued a Georgia driver's license.

In accordance with the mandate contained in 42 U.S.C. Section 666(a)(13)(A) and notwithstanding any provision of Title 40 relating to motor vehicles as now existing or hereafter amended, the Department of Driver Services shall require an applicant for a driver's license, a commercial driver's license, a learner's permit, or an identification card to provide to the Department of Driver Services the applicant's social security number or certification from the Social Security Administration that the applicant is not eligible for issuance of a social security number because he or she is an alien not authorized to work in the United States as part of the application.

Every applicant for an initial drivers license must provide acceptable proof of identification. Board Rule 375-3-1-.02, specifies one of the following items are acceptable but must be Original or a Certified Copy:

Original birth certificate (State issued) State Vital Statistics (Hospital birth certificates are not acceptable).
Certified copy of birth certificate (Issued by Vital Statistics with affixed seal)
Certificate of birth registration
Certified copy of court records (adoption, name changes or sex changes.)
Certified naturalization records
Immigration I.D. card
Valid Passport
Military identification card issued by the United States armed forces.
Tier 2

Every applicant for an initial license must prove either he/she is a U.S. citizen or legally authorized by INS to be present in the U.S. If the identification document presented indicates that the individual is a U.S. Citizen (by birth or naturalization) then Tier 2 has been satisfied.

If the identification document presented indicates that the individual is a Non-U.S. citizen then a valid document from INS must be presented. DDS Examiners currently accept any INS document that indicates the individual is currently authorized to be present in the United States.

Tier 3

After meeting the requirements of Tier 1 and 2 the individual must present proof of a valid residence address. Board Rule 375-3-1-.02 specifies one of the following must be presented as proof of residence address:

Utility bill with valid Georgia residence address
Bank statement with valid Georgia residence address
Rental contracts and or receipts
Employee Verification
Georgia license issued to parent, guardian or spouse.

Yes, the bank will have no issues depositing the check. They will give you the U.S. dollars per their conversion rate on the date of deposit. Sometimes, they will hold the check (make it unanavaile) for a period of time until the check clears.

BOA will - but they will hold the funds for 2 weeks, use a 3rd party intemediary for the exchange and clearing and don't seem to want to disclose how much in fees it will cost or what they will give for an exchange rate.

not with me.. they cashed it and posted it on the spot..
