Looks like it took 3 month for an Oath?did you change your name ?why it took so long?



 

Hi. My situation was such that we actually live in Delaware but since we dont have an Interview office, I had my interview in Philly. They offered an oath 3 days later but since hubby & I were leaving for vacation on said day, I had to decline crying.gif.  Well then since DE is soooo small, I literally had to wait until they had 50+ people for the oath to be scheduled waiting.gif

Has anyone applied for the passport? I hope it doesn't take forever!

 

I applied on Wednesday (13th)... they took my naturalization cert and said they will mail it back to me post processing.  Soooo strange wow.gif

Yes, here in Los Angeles, we have same day service for $195. I don't think it's offered everywhere, but, you can check, if it's offered where you live. 

 

Are you travelling soon?  We are leaving to JA December 31st

It was good... nothing to really go ballistic over.  I'm just glad my journey is over with.  I had planned on doing a review but of course I felt ill Thursday afternoon; had school business Friday; worked midnights Friday night and last night; wine tasting and bday party today... Im actually still at work until 8a so Its Monday before I actually post it ClockWatch2.gif

Getting a little frustrated. Everything had been going so smoothly. Myself, my husband and two sons had our interviews in Boston on October 2nd, and were told we should have a ceremony date within 2 weeks..... my husband eventually received his today, for next Thursday, November 14, but myself and my sons have not even been notified by email that a letter has been sent. SO despite asking to be all together as a family for the ceremony, it looks as though we will be on different dates sad.png Surely it isn't much to ask?!?!

 

Im sorry that it has been so tedious to get everyone together for the ceremony. Hopefully you will get the other letters soon

HEy Happilycontent, Brijo and everybody. Yes I finally got my interview date. It is Dec 10th 8;30am. And what is actually amazing is that it is Tuesday morning the only day that I do not have a class am. Otherwise I am in school from am till pm everyday. No need to skip any classes wink.png)). So at least the wait was worth it.

And Otta, yes you are right about Manhattan. Seems like brooklyn and Queens are the boroughs that are as fast as the other parts of the country. Manhattan is the slowest one ;( I do not understand why. Yes there are a lot people living in Manhattan but that is the reason to have more employees. However almost there like you guys smile.png. Thanks for your advices and support everybody

Wow. Yea that is a lot of places, but Delaware is tiny. 3 more days and it's oath ceremony for you! Seems as though most people have abandoned this thread since their approval lol I'm going to stick around to see the last active person through, and congratulate them. Hopefully you don't mind me asking, but, what are you planning to wear to the oath ceremony? I felt very over dressed for my interview. I don't know if it's because it's LA, or what, but I saw people walk in for their interview in shorts and a T-shirt. lol Hopefully people are more formal for the oath ceremony.


You are such a doll... I haven't thought about what I'm wearing or how I'm doing my hair lol. I'll probably wear some dress pants and a jacket. I don't understand how people can be so weird- shorts?! Really.

Congrats to you, too! Ah, yes we are in the last leg of our journey, finally. Is Wilmington, DE closer to you than PA?

 

I actually live in Delaware... Had to do biometrics in Dover, DE and interview in Philly, PA... I know, a lot of different locations because DE is so small, there is no Field office here.


Had a wonderful experiences at the oath ceremony in Atlanta, 114 people from 56 countries, very moving, and I am very happy to say that I am now a US citizen! Will somebody please update me on the June filers and change it to RED!  Thank you.

No just waiting on a date. they said DE has to wait until there are about 50 ppl to do oaths and since we are so small, most applicants just do it in Philly because of the wait... Endless circle lol

I kind of feel like this is going to be me as well. My IO was kind flustered it seems. I just remembered he actually omit the first number in my alien number when he was filling out some of the papers,and when I asked him about it, he told me it doesn't matter. ranting33va.gif 

Luxus has already received an email about scheduled for oath and I passed my interview a week before him, and nothing yet. Hope you receive something soon. Did they offer you same day oath? I thought they usually schedule the oath within 45 days from recommended approval?

 

What? How could he make that error lol.  I hope we really hear something soon

They offered me an oath ceremony on 8/16 but since we were going on vacay the following monday, I had to decline :( I called USCIS and they said I have to wait until after the 14th to have them look and see whats goin on

I didn't, but I don't mind going back to New Orleans, it's where hubby grew up which makes it more than worth the while. All it takes is hooking up the travel trailer and calling our two cats to jump into the truck :)

My interview experience:

 

So I showed up to Philly's location around 12:47pm for my 1:30 appt but was running "late" due to traffic.  I got a pretty good spot at the kiosks to the sie of the building (first time) and helped this Spanish-speaking lady figure the payment method.  I was in line to enter the building within 5 mins and although there were quite a few people in line, I was inside by 1:04 pm...

 

I went through the security check-point and had to take off all my jewelry and it just so happen to be the one day I had on a necklace, bracelet, and a few rings.  So there was a russian chick and her husband standing in front of me in the line and we all got sent to the 2nd floor to see the receptionist,  We arrived only to be sent to the 3rd floor, where I assume is the location for citizenship interviews.  I mumbled to her that I really wasnt following her and she snickered that I was telling a lie lol.

 

As we got up to the receptionist's desk, they took our interview notification and asked us to have a seat, which was around 1:17 pm .  I just so happen to sit near the Spanish lady I had helped earlier.  As we chatted, we realized that 1) she was from Dominican Republic and she had to call me bluff cuz Im headed there on Monday and it was just so odd, and 2) we live in the same area in Delaware (life is funny).  She bragged about how beautiful her country was and it just made me more excited to visit. She gave me a few tips on where to go and where to visit on my next trip.

 

By 1:23pm a young man called my name to come back for my interview.  I followed him to his deck and we did the whole swearing thing.  We sat down and he asked me to verify the demographics that were included in my application and asked for my ID, GC and passport.  Next, he asked the whole ever voted, told anyone you were a citizen, communism, drugs, illegal participation stuff and then if I aggree to uphold the constitution.  My new Dominican friend sat in the cubicle behind me and let out a squeal when she saw me lol

 

He was all speedy gonzalez on me and was like, ok, here we go; gonna start the civics test:

 

I was then asked to read "What was the first capital of the United States?" and I then had to write "New York was the first capital of the United States"

 

He atarted with the questions (not in correct order or verbatim)

  1. How old do citizend have to be to vote in a federal election? Citizens 18 and older
  2. What is one freedom from the First Ammendment? Speech
  3. If the President can no longer serve, who takes over? Vice President
  4. What was the main concern during WWI? Communism
  5. Who is in charge of the executive branch? The President
  6. Who writes federal laws? Congress

He then let me know that we were done.  I said he only asked 5 questions and he replied that he asked 6 but we were talking so casually and fast that I guess I didnt think about what he was asking. He said "Well, I know this is last minute but we have an Oath ceremony on Friday.  I know its only two days but is this an option?" I explained to him that although I'd appreciate it, we will be going to DR on monday so I'd need my GC or passport.  I then told him that I suggested to hubby that we go to PR instead and the IO chuckled and said "Yea because you wouldnt need anything more than an ID."

 

He was like, ok, you are done, do you have any more questions? I asked about an Oath ceremony in Delaware.  He said he wasnt very familiar with our state's schedule but he knows that we had one in June at my university (U of DE).  He added that they will send me a letter with the available times but that they would want to wait until they have about 50 ppl.  He asked if I had anything else to ask and I said no.  He showed me the way out and say Congrats again. I shook his hand and told him thanks. 

 

All in all, I drove 1 1/2 hours in traffic for a 10 min interview lol... I was at my car by 1:34pm but I was glad it was over.

Just received two text messages and one email :  On August 15, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview.   You will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview.  If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance.  If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address
 
Now I am going to be checking my mail box at least daily :P   Anybody knows how long it takes to get the interview date after your status changes online?
 
For the LA people...I see naturalization dates at the Los Angeles Convention center scheduled in September,November and December .... any reason or idea why they wouldn't be scheduling a date in October?

Sounds like you are a very busy person! What are you studying? My wife will begin taking some classes in January hopefully, pre-requisites, then will go for a new degree in nursing after that.

Thanks mucho. I am ALWAYS busy. I'm doing nursing :) 60-70 hr work weeks and 2 classes this past summer. I will reduce my hrs this fall but until then, OT is my BFF.

I think she'll love it. It's competitive to get it and difficult to prioritize when you are in but it's soo worth it

Poline, we are going to DR about a week after my interview in Philly... Oath will be in Delaware so Im assuming it'll be after we return... Im saying this to say that although ppl don't like it, you can still travel between Interview and Oath (granted they'd hurry up and send you the darn Interview letter so you'd know your dates)

ugh i cant find my greencard and my biometrics is on the 15th, im soooo worried that i have to pay $450 for replacement. i hope the officer will allow me to bring a police report document cray5ol.gif

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 June 2013 Filers

Tried to go one day early to my biometrics in Seattle as going on vacation tomorrow. Got there at 7am and at 9:15 was told not able to do it...Grrrrrrr!!!!

Oh well back tomorrow I guess, 1st in line though!!

$7 for parking there, what a rip off...

 

Aww man, thats not cool.  Why would they have you wait so long just to turn you away :(  And that parking is highway robbery
