US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3

Your fiamcee can file a change of address notification form (I believe it is the AR-11). This form can be used for either the USC petitioner or the beneficiary.

I just have a couple concerns about doing a Change of Address. I admit I should read up more on what exactly a Change of Address truly means. One of my assumptions is that they use the address during the background check. So my concern is that doing a Change of Address will cause a delay in the background checks longer than 3 days. My other concern is that her official address has not changed. My concern is that because her name is on a title of a house and all of her official documents give the address of her house, that it will cause issues at the embassy because there was a Change of Address that says she lives somewhere else.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3
I have a question regarding packet 3. My fiancee owns a house and also rents an apartment. We used both addresses on her G325 (Her house was marked permanent and the apartment was marked secondary), but used her house address on the I129F. During the time that we expect to receive packet 3, she will be at the apartment. My expectation is that they will send the packet 3 to her house. So is there a way to inform the powers that be to send packet 3 to the apartment (we have not received the NOA2 yet)? Her house is about a 10 hour drive away from the apartment. Her parents will be able to mail her packet 3 to the apartment, so it's not a major issue. Just trying to save ourselves 3 more days of waiting.

Went for Infopass appointment, it was worthless... they said we've to wait another 90 days before they can do anything... I called Customs and Border Patrol and they said there's nothing they can do... they don't keep the "brown/yellow" envelope there... they mail all out to USCIS... so, I guess we just wait... this sucks smile.gif)

Did they hand in the brown envelope at their POE? it sounds like this has not been sent to USCIS. I would check with the POE to find out if they forwarded it to USCIS and when.

Yes, my parents did hand over the brown envelope at their POE. I was specifically told by POE staff when we went there the 2nd time that they'll be forwarding all to USCIS. I think the POE messed it up here. How would I get hold of someone at POE? Any ideas?

USCIS Service CentersParent's GC not on file
I'm a USC, petitioned for my parents and got approved. My parents entered US on May 22, 2009 and from my understanding we didn't need to do anything for them to receive their greencard. I called USCIS today and gave them the A# that was stamped on the passport, and was told that they don't have their greencard application on file. I made the infopass appointment, but was wondering what do they mean by no application on file? How long is my parent IV visa valid for? Do I've to take precaution for them overstaying their visa if they don't get a greencard soon or there's no visa time limit on IV visa?

Just a little background, I think the problem was at the POE, when the initial IO stamped them with a visitor visa for 6 months. I got a call a week after my parents arrival from the POE asking to come again as they've to correct the visa. We went there and got IV visa stamped on my parents passport, but I don't know if they submit all the information to USCIS for greencard processing, which they told me they'll take care of it.

Just any thoughts or experience sharing will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get back in, and use the invoice number to pay for your AOS fee, and the Visa Application fee, Try again. It will be so much quicker. Call the NVC if you have a problem. Mike & Yizhen

You might've to wait couple of days, and the status online will change from paid to reject. Then you'll be able to pay online again. If you go the online route, it's lot faster. Otherwise, you'll mail the payments and have to wait for their response back to send the documents. If you pay online, you can print the barcode sheet after few days of the payment and will be lot quicker. Try calling NVC and ask if you will be allow to pay online again when the system resets itself.

I waited couple of days and printed out the barcode sheet from online and then mailed out DS230.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Email DS3032 more than 1 week? ( 6 working days )
I've been using yahoo/hotmail account and have got every response back from NVC. For DS-3032, it took them a week to respond back.
ilikeallofuMaleNepal2009-03-04 10:40:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)When?
Yep, if you've the barcoded sheet, you can go ahead and send the I-864. You don't need to wait for anything from NVC. That's the beauty of paying online.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 Form - who should be the agent?
For DS-3032, simply send the email to NVC. No need to mail the form. NVC will respond back to you within in a week saying that they've accepted your DS-3032. Rest of the forms are online, and I would highly advise paying online as it expedites the process. I know my petition is different than yours, but the process that we go through is very similar. You can see my signature for timeline. Good luck.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Originals Or Certified Copies?
Arun is right... the "certified" copies doesn't mean attested/notarized copy of the original. What you did is a notarize the copy saying it's a duplicate of the original. However, NVC's certified copy requirement for DS230 has to come from the issuing agency. So, if you were born in a hospital, the certified copy of the birth certificate will have to be issued by either the hospital or the county who have record of your birth. At least that's my understanding.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)AOS Fee & IV Fee payments
I agree with other posts that u shouldn't pay unless u can verify that IV is generated. It'll allow u to pay online before the IV fee bill is generated, but it'll error out after u make ur payment and will lose few days in process before everything gets cleared. You can search for posts I made and see what I went thru when I paid my IV bills online b4 it was generated.
ilikeallofuMaleNepal2009-03-13 21:24:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC payment
If you made another payment, it should be fixed in NVC now. Something similar happened to me where I paid IV fee online b4 the fee was generated. I'd to wait few days to get NVC correct it in the system. The system at NVC will correct it itself.
ilikeallofuMaleNepal2009-03-14 11:01:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)IV Fee Bill Online
I just want to caution you in few things cause I went through some worrysome time cuz of my desire to expedite the process:

The IIN for AOS and IV fee bill are the same, so you can pay the bill. However, even though u see that the IV fee bill is payable, u've to make sure that the invoice is generated first. I paid the IV fee bill right away and the bill wasn't generated till that night, so I had to wait for the system to reject that pay and wait for few additional days before I can repay again. You'll lose more time if u pay the IV fee bill before it's generated. So, without confirming that IV fee bill is generated, DO NOT PAY even though the online process allows u to pay. You can do some search on my previous posts to find out what happened in my situation. Good luck.

I just called the NVC and the operator told me that they have reviewed the I-864 and everything was fine and that they just got my DS230 Last March 10 so they're currently reviewing it. So all of you guys are correct.. it's all about my DS230.. I just have 1 question.... Looking at other's timeline here, it only took them 2 to 4 days reviewing their DS230.. They said the received mine last March 10, how come it's taking time for them to review it. hmmmm..... hehe.. just wondering.. :-)

Mine took 7 days. So, your case should be completed any day now. Good luck.

Do i need to write case number and name at the back of the picture for DS 230 package?

I didn't write anything on the pic, but did put the picture in a small envelope with the name, case no, dob.
ilikeallofuMaleNepal2009-03-16 07:22:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)None vs. N/A, When to use what?
On the instruction for DS230, it says to put N/A if it's "not applicable". I put N/A wherever it was not applicable to me and I didn't get any RFE. The key is not to leave it blank, such as if u don't have a middle name, put N/A for it.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Almost Ready
You get the certified copy from wherever the issuing agency is. Example: If you are born in Country A, you need to get a certified copy from that Country A. If you were born in US, then only you can get a certified copy from the US county offices. Similarly, if you were married in US, then u can get a certified copy of the marriage certificate from the US county where you got married. Looking at your profile, you might've been born in UK, then you'll need to get a certified birth certificate from UK. Hope that helps.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Almost Ready
Please check this link out ==> http://travel.state..../info_3195.html

For petioner's document (in this case, you), you don't need divorce certificate. You need all ur marriage certificate, and remember that at least one copy all the documents have to be CERTIFIED OR ORIGINAL. The notarized copy will not work. Again, notarized is not a certified copy. A certified copy has to be issued by the proper issuing agency.

As for the picture, I just put them in a small envelope and wrote the NVC case no, Beneficiary's name/date of birth on the envelope.

I think u paid it online b4 the bill was generated... something very similar to that happened to me... give it few days and the system will fix itself, so u can pay it again... I'll ensure that the money wasn't taken out of ur bank account... u can always call NVC and check what might be the true reason on why it was rejected... u can do a search on the post from my id, and u'll see that I went thru the same situation... good luck.

By the way, should I call them and let them know my email address? I've not talked to an operator since I got case # assigned.

I would call NVC and give them the email address. NVC asked if I had an email when I called them, and since then I've received everything via email. It expedites the process in the sense that email will get to you faster than mail and you can check it from anywhere.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Birth Certificate needed for Petitioner for NVC Processing?
Depends on what kinda petition are you filing for.

If it's one of these 2 petition, then you need to submit birth certificate:

Petitioner Documents

Applicants in the following visa categories are required to provide 1) an original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s birth certificate and 2) original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.

* Parent of a U.S. Citizen who is at least 21 years old (IR-5)
* Brothers and sisters of United States citizens (F4)

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAnything besides Tourist Visa to RUS?
Hello,

Iam afraid that y do not...

The family visa is valid to stay up to three mth for a single or double entry and the tourist visa will depend of the hotel or the family invtation/voucher.
Also it will depends of yr nationality and where y live...

For what iam aware, business or tourist visa valid for 1 or 2 years has not been issued for at least 4-5 years.

Im pretty sure of thus but i cld be wrong.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400, Name-change and Travel

Thank you for the prompt response, jkelly! I am assuming that my State ID card (DL) would also reflect the changed name by the time of travel. I was planning to be a little fancy with the name change. Shortened firstname, a different middle name and the new last name. Will that complicate things further? :(

Dont show yr indian passport, yre not allowed to hold a dual nationality. When y are becoming us citizen y shld hand over yr indian passport immediatelly. When y apply for yr indian visa yre supposed to provide a surrender cert but y can always apply for pio or cio card later.

Call the airline and changes the ticket name as it will only cost you few quick...explain the situation if it doesnt work carry yr birth cert , marriage cert and passport but note y can always be refused.

Good luck
