Dammit, I am getting so jealous with all this talk of new jobs....I want one soooooo bad.....Giving myself like 2 months and if I get nothing, I'll take any job I get like Macy's etc....

Ja English, what are you looking for in a job, or rather what type of job are you looking? You can PM me with this information if you don't want to put it here in public . Okay

Roxcie

I have 10 years law enforcement experience, combined with extensive statement taking, so would love something like insurance investigation, basically stuff like taking statements in a legal capacity, and/or investigation.
Barring that, I have been eying stuff like cable installation, have no experience but I understand those kind of jobs often don't require previous experience.
I have also experience of train driving, wouldn't mind doing that again.....

I guess I just want a job that pays reasonably well and I don't have to wear a suit!!!

JA English,
I will put out some feeler to some of my contacts, You may want to try this website too. http://www.co.pg.md.us/Employment.

I will send you some more information later. I have emails from friends and foe who may have sent me a job posting to pass on to intrested parties.

Evening, all - I left work at noon today, went and got a spa pedicure, then came home and took a nap! I woke up and watched the Bucket List - incredibly sweet movie if you haven't seen it.

Congrats, Auntie Marlita, she's adorable! And I agree JAEng, the pics of your son just get cuter and cuter!

Gill, I agree with you about loving hearing the good stories - I am going to a baby shower next week for a friend who married a JA man on a K1 - they have been married 5 (I think) years, just bought a house, and this is their second child. She is a constant inspiration to me to have faith.

Welcome Army wife - I think you should be fine, as JAEng said - If your overstay was less than one year, then you should be able to adjust no problems - if it was greater than one year, you might have to file a waiver for the overstay - But I know people who have done similar and now have their green cards (not from JA).

Hope everyone has a good weekend - any plans?

I heard something about if the marriage was after more than 60 (or 90?) days in the country, the USCIS would automatically assume there was no intent to marry beforehand.....
I don't think she needs a waiver, I think those are for people abroad.....

I know she'll be just fine smile.gif

Good morning JaEnglish,

I know Charles County is quite, you need to come over her to Prince George's county for a little action. HA Ha. Yes, Maryland is quite, but we love it here. I made it out to the Carribbean market you referred me to and it was great. I'm stocking up on small things that would make my hubsand feel at home, so when he reaches here I will already have those things on hand. I'm also learning to cook some of the dishes from JA. Your little one is very handsome, he reminds me of my son when he was his age. They grow so fast, so enjoy him. I hope you have an ejoyable Saturday. You really should try going to the farmer market over at the National Harbor. It is really nice.

Roxcie, I have some recipes on this link http://www.visajourn...p;#entry1279762
Hopefully they will be helpful!!

What does the farmer's market sell?

The farmer market sells fresh vegetables, homemade pies and cakes, and fresh meat. It is ran by the Armish group. You could spend an half day there just browsing. Thanks for the receipes.

I have'nt been on here in a few, but wanted to share what happened to us lastnight. Marla was cooking and turned the oven eye off but really she turned it on high. Next thing I knew my kithcen was on fire. Probbaly done about $3000 in damage and luckily ins. will cover it. Marla was very upset and more embarressed than anything. But after confirming to her that it happens to alot of people she was fine.

Jason, may I make a suggestion to you, right about now Marla needs some friends she can communicate with, since the ladies on this site are so wonderful, why don't you show her how to log on under her own screen name, and she can share, vent, or cry with us about her feelings. I assure you she would truly appreciate this since right about now she is feeling very home sick. This is just a suggestion.

Good morning everyone,

I am just popping in for a brief update. My SO and I are still having problems, I wouldn't say our relationship is entirely over but its not looking good. In any case, I decided not to cancel my petition and let things run its course. Of course, it seems like we'll have more than enough time to deal with our problems considering I have yet to receive my NOA2 while others who filed after me have started receiving theirs. mad.gif (happy for them, angry at VSC).. oh well...I'm trying to hang in there but its been very hard..

Thanks again for the support on this thread and those who have PM'd me.

I hope you manage to work it out, Mommy2 - No relationship is easy, it takes faith and time (which you certainly have) and patience. I am glad you made the decision not to cancel your petition - With having a child together, you are going to have to work something out (hopefully) for the best interest of the child. At the very least, going forward gives you time to do so.

Hey, did anyone see this article this morning?

Did you hear of this insulting exhibit that was quickly removed in a NY studio. See article, and pics ..sad.

The Assassination of Barack Obama: Freedom of expression or racism?
<http://sandrarose.com/2008/06/05/the-assassination-of-barack-obama-freedom-of-expression-or-racism/>

controversial art exhibit was raided and shut down before it could be viewed in NYC yesterday.

According to the NY Times blog: Cityroom <http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/04/police-shut-down-assassination-art-exhibition/> , Boston-born performance artist, Yazmany Arboleda, tried to set up a provocative art exhibition in a vacant storefront on West 40th Street in Midtown Manha ttan with the title, "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton/The Assassination of Barack Obama".

The artist thought his racist views were protected under the Constitution because he was expressing himself through his art. Wrong.

Not 30 minutes after Arboleda set up the gallery across the street from the New York Times building, police, feds and secret service swooped in to shut the art exhibit down. While police covered the offensive storefront window with brown paper, Arboleda was led away in handcuffs to be "interrogated".

Arboleda, 27, learned the hard way that freedom has its limits. Later, in an interview, he said: "It's art. It's not supposed to be harmful. It's about character assassination — about how Obama and Hillary have been portrayed by the media." He added, "It's about the media."

Roxie you should look into this on the K3 and CR1 forums. There was alot of folks whose K3 was "adminstratively closed" due to USCIS phasing them out. Yes it was a hot mess! People saying they gonna sue and all this stuff. Not many K3's were getting processed out of VSC but still processed out of CSC, so it was all crazy. I don't know if it was resolved or if K3's are fully back. If u check out those forums u should hear more info on all this.

I looked at both and I was going to go with the CR-1, but then someone told me to try for the K3. I will read the threads tonight and then I will proceed to send in our paperwork to begin this LONG journey.

As I keep looking at your picture, I keep saying to myself I know you and your boys from somewhere. I live in the DC area, and it seems like I have met you before. Maybe we know some common people. I can't quite put my finger on it. Congratulations on your wedding.

Highly possible...my sister lives in DC...near the new convention center...Mt. Vernon Apartments on M st. She lived in Laurel, MD. before that! We go down about 3-5 times a year to visit! My favorite place to hang out is Arundel Mills Mall & Chinatown...although I have yet to find a good chinese restaurant there! laughing.gif I like D.C...but she LOVES it!!
She works for a non-profit a few blocks away from where she lives!

Bless,
Gill

I had the best General Tso's chicken I have ever had. Their sushi bar looked pretty interesting too....just not for me. The place looks like ####### from the outside; but was decent and big inside. Andre loved it.

Yes, the food there is really good, I have gone their quite a few times.

hahaha,

congrats Iriecat on his homecomingl

so I take mr jengles out for father's day and he has to quiz the waiter on the fish, to make sure it's a whole-a fish. He is very picky when it comes to food, the two of us went out friday night and my man got ribs with the barbecue sauce on the side. and of course today he had to tell the waiter he wanted the fish with jamaican pepper. but I love him and today at the restaurant i'm thinking him and my grandmother are the two hardest people to please when it comes to food, my man actually opened his mouth and said how my grandmother was the hardest person he knows to please when it comes to food. I had to tell him about himself.

Kimmy,

did u invite the MIL to the baby shower devil.gif devil.gif

Jengy,

When I read this I HAD to laugh! I took Ken, my Dad and the boys out to dinner last night and it took Ken 30 minutes to order the dyam fish. Every fish pon the menu he asked ..."Ah deh whole fish yuh ave...or deh likkle fancy fancy filet piece piece dem?" He finally decided on flounder stuffed with crabmeat. Mi seh deh man tek an HOUR feh eat 1 piece of deh dyam ting!! "Gill, hit jus doan feel right eating fish without tail and head!!" Then he finally tastes it and is like ..."Bwoy onnuh freshwater fish different from our sea fish!" I was finally like "Yuh waan tuh send hit back han order a steak or chicken?" "Nuh suh, yuh doan knoa seh mi nah eat nuh U.S. beef han mi tiyad ah chicken!"

Suh yuh doan knoa mi arready..."Suh Dhhhharling....Hush hup han nyam yuh fancy fancy fish...suh wi cyan get outta here!" biggrin.gif

I just kept repeating what the pastor emphasized at our wedding..."Love is Patient...Love is Patient...LOVE IS BLOODCLAAT PATIENT!!!!" laughing.gif

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers ladies. I am trying to manage for the sake of my baby but this is the most difficult time of my life. I most likely lost the love of my life and it is all my fault. Please continue to keep me in your prayers.

Let me tell you something..You do not lose the 'love of your life' because of one mistake or two. I do not know anything about you or him, but know this, if he was truly the person you were meant to be with, you could not lose him just like that......I hope and pray I'm wrong, but I hope he's not playing games with you....

My prayers are with you....

Mommy2B.... you have done nothing wrong, true love don't fly out the window when faced with problems. Being the woman you are, I know you can over come any adversity that you may face. We here at VJ know that come Monday, you will be telling us that all is well.

Girl, it is truly Friday the 13th here. I live in DC and we had two fires in the Metro system that shut down a few stations for a few hours; a downtown power outage that knocked out traffic lights and traffic was a mess; three people were struck by cars because the traffic patterns were all messed up. All of this during morning rush hour. I was so tempted to turn back around and head home to curl up under the covers.

I work downtown and it has been a living nightmare today. All I want to do is go home, lock my door, have a bottle of wine, and not speak, see, or hear from anyone today. Tomorrow might be a better day.

I just want to say thanks for being so helpful throughout this process. I really appreciate the advice I have received here.
But it seems my journey is ending... I am devastated. I don't know what I am going to do. I was in the hospital last night from bad false contractions.

Thanks again for your help. Good luck to you on the rest of your process.

Oh, Lord, please watch over my sisters yesterday, TODAY and tomorrow. LORD, please give us your STRENGTH...please surround us father God. I/WE can't take anymore bad news today. I/WE need you, right HERE, RIGHT NOW. Please help US...

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Forgot to add - I haven't even started pricing flights back to JA yet!

Sue,

I have been pricing flights to JA, they are now $600.00 to $1000.00, this is ridicules. How will the tourism business survive under all of this.

Do you fly into Kingston or Mobay? I saw US air had some flights to MBJ for 470 or so.

Girlfriend, I can't take it anymore and my SO send this text message this morning, it saaaaaaaaaaaid "Hi think you should come NOW. Okay so I looked for tickets today and I was quoted $675.00. This is for booking two weeks away. I can only let GOd guide me in this, because this is not in my hand. I can't see paying 700-1000 for a ticket unless I am staying for a month of more. I may have to call on my girl friend for a stand by ticket. I hate asking friends for favors, but right now he states he needs to see me.

I'm meeting up with 7 couples that have interviews in Kingston the same day as mine (June 24th). They're looking for just one night. All are coming from the other end of the island, from Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, Negril. I'm the closest coming from Trelawny. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. They said no to the HILTON, Courtleight is sold out, some didn't like Knutsford, they're about to drive me insane.

Tre, there is a hotel by the airport. I can't remember the name right now, I am about to go into a meeting, will try to get the information back to you when i am back in my office.

What are the dates?

Mike is scared, because he never thought something SOOOOOOOOO good would ever happen to him. Remember this is God's will. I found a quote in the Bible that read...'A heart that loves is Forever Young'...and I'm running with it! The colors are grey/silver, lavender and white. I am driving EVERYONE crazy looking for lavender ish! laughing.gif My youngest son, Gavin brought a home a lavender BASEBALL yesterday and was like we can use it in the wedding??? blink.gif laughing.gif

Waagwan yaardies! The hubby and I will be in Negril in 2 weeks...I've never been...he hasn't been in a couple of years...anybody got any suggestions as to any activities or places to see while there?

I love Rick's Cafe and there's fish place let me see if I can find the name....I don't do much I Negril...when I want to get away that's where I go...it's quiet...to tell you the truth, I've met more people from other countries in Negril than any other tourist spots in Jamaica...good food, good drinks and great conversations

Tre, do you know how to you the text message to digicel on your computer? I would love to be able to send text via computer rather than cell phone.

Also I found my wedding dress at Davidson Bridal, but I had them to cut it off at the top of my kness, because I was getting married in Jamaica and I wanted to show my leggs. AS they say, if you have assest show them. He loved the the dress. At first everyone was like why don't you want a long white dress, I was like, I wanted him to see everything he was getting on his wedding day. My dress was a very pale yellow and fit evey curve I had, It was beautiful. Our wedding day was so much fun. We both teased each other on our wedding day about what we both was bringing to the table as far as our assest. When the preacher said does anyone object to this marriage we both looked out of the church door. Everyone was laughing. I play it over in my mind everyday, so I don't get so lonely without him. AT times like this I want to shout from the mountain top " I love my Jamaica Husband"

I send text messages all the time to Louis through the digicel website. I go to www.digicelstlucia.com so I assume you would just go to www.digiceljamaica.com?? I also had a digicel phone so I still use that one to log in. I would register your man's cell # and send texts that way. It would be like he was getting a text from himself but hey - it works! :-) I think they allow you 30 texts a month or something like that.

Ok I just went to www.digiceljamaica.com and there is an option right on the home page that says "send a text from your PC". Register with his number and go ahead!

Hope that helps.

Cat

Cat, thank you so much you are a life saver. I like that fact that I can send text straight from my computer since I am on it all day long. I will try it out now.

Thanks
