Dance, when i recruit for seasonal workers and I explain to them what will be deducted from their paychecks, they have no understanding of SS or Medicare deductions. Most of them think they should be getting that money back at the end of the year. WRONG. Alot of the workers have been coming to the US to work for years, some may have earn a fair amount of SS credits. So, even if SS sends out a statement every year, it doesn't get to them because they may have moved on from the address.

I'm not trying to fix a system, I see that this is just a lack of information on the non-USC part.

Dance, yes, I do think alot of foreigners don't think they are eligible for retirement benefits thru SS, onc ethey reached the right age. If they left before age 65, they were not asking about what benefits they will be eligible for at the retirement age. Note, most people aren't aware that SS retirement benefits are based on credits not how many years you have worked.

So working in the USC for tenyrs/or the required number of work credits will allow you to collect SS retirement benefits. I don't think alot of people are aware of this, so they are leaving money on the table when they are 65 or older.

Sus, that's why I think it is important for them to apply for USC, because every time they leave the country and try to travel, there is so much that can go wrong. I don't want to spent my time arguing w/ PO's every time we want to go some where.

I would like to start/end my vacations on a good note rather than fighting to get/leave a country.

That is one of the main reasons people apply for USC, in my opinion. Don't have to worry about traveling visas and all that good stuff. Having a US passport definitely helps when you are trying to travel.

It's one good reason. We are looking at more the other reasons such as social security benefits, estate issues, the fact that the next step up for him is manager of his own store, etc. Not to mention if (GOD forbid) he would have any law related issues. Travelling abroad is currently very low on our totem pole.

Jomo, does the SS law says that only a USC can get SS benefits? If you have enough work credit applied to SS, can you not get yur own benefits when it is time.

How do no citizens get disability benefits, I see a lot of people(hispanics, vietnamies, etc) who are disable getting SS benefits. I have seen some who couldn't even speak english get this benefit.

I am just asking, if you see your hubby not being a USC, that would creat a problem for him in getting his SS benefits at retirement time?

My MIL just called me and asked if I could bring her some butter and cooking oil when I come down in NOV. Now I am aware that food cost more in JA, than here in the USA, but does it cost somemuch more that I need to be sneaking butter into JA. I would rather go to the Super Plus and buy it, if we are only talking about a couple of dollars more.

With these new rules being put onto your luggages for traveling, such as paying for it, I would like to save my luggage for clothes and shoes. I'm going to call the Super Plus store and see how much Butter cost.

He had all of his flight info - arrival and departure tickets, a copy of the hotel info confirmation that listed both our names, and I was planning to be at the airport waiting for him on arrival since I got there first - He would have had credit cards and his bank card in his wallet and probably some cash, but no where near that amount of cash on him - Do they have an ATM in the immigration line so that they can check your bank balance? I don't travel with that much cash on me - especially not on a trip like that where I went to an AI and everything was already paid for -

I think your friend got screwed Sunny and was too afraid to speak up.

He was going to stay with family and no intentions to go back. He was to go back to the officer when his stamp was ready to expire and get it extended. Got screwed How? He has friends that do this all the time. I've heard this happen to other another person also that traveled to the Bahamas. He didn't have a reservation for Hotel stay, but he was going to visit family. They said he needed to have enough to stay for the length of time he said he would be there.

Sunny, some of these same rules that applies to visitors here in the USA. At the POE you must be able to show that you can support yourself here in the USA base on the length of time you plan to stay.

This is done an a case by case bases. I also, believe this is a rule for entry into JA aswell, they can ask to see your hotel accomdations arrngement, and ask to see if you have the ability to pay for it. If not, they can refuse you entry into their country.

Again, this is done on a case by case bases.

Question, do your JA husband have to apply for USC. Question, there is only one 10 year GC application correct?

Question, How long do you have been in the US, before you can apply for USC. Is it 3 years., so this entire process can be over within 5 years of your life.

This is the man that Steve Harvey’s Letter was about yesterday

STRAWBERRY LETTER FOR TODAY.
9/2008
Subject My Prince Charming Turned Out to Be a Devil with Horns I am a 39 year old single mother of two girls 9 and 14. I am educated, beautiful and successful and have a good job . I met my prince charming online, went on few dates. In my life I have had mishaps when it comes to men.

This guy was handsome, well educated and he is every woman dream. I was so excited to finally meet somebody like him, after meeting a couple of free loaders. He was my dream come true. My excitement about my prince charming ended when I landed in his bed of hell. My first concern was his unwillingness to use protection, and I insisted that since we don't know each other that long, that was the safest thing to do.

I asked him about his status and he said he was clean, he has no diseases and he was going to show me, his status. I was concerned when I realized that he had secretly removed the protection during the encounter, and he told me that he does not like using them.
After this day, I called and told him that I needed to see his hiv status and he said. Yea I will send it to you.
As I was waiting impatiently I noticed that he was a bit different. I called him and told him strongly but politely that I needed to know his status. That was the last day I ever heard from him. He stopped calling me; he never answered my calls nor returns them. I called him at work and he told me not to bother him anymore, I must leave him alone.
6 months later I tested positive for hiv. What do I do? Do I sue him? Do I let him do this to other women? Should I sit and accept it as my fate.

I am devastated. I look at my girls and cry because I have betrayed them; I put myself in a compromising situation. What do I tell them?

Steve I know I failed to follow your rule of thumb, but still I need your advice.

Thnx, Devastated and betrayed

Ivan has women all spread out across the U.S. Especially in the area that he lives and travel too often. Ivan is from Plainfield , NJ He has women in NY, NJ, DE, VA, FL, PA, NA, MD, Washington DC , Texas , CA and Canada . I am sure there are more. Ivan is also in the AF Reserves, stationed at Dover branch, which he talks about on an on going basis. This is how he gets to travel so often, for a broke man. Ivan is quiet and laid back, never refuses food, and takes, takes, and takes; Never offering to replenish anything. He doesn't have a home to speak of; lives out of his car going from woman to woman. Once he even carried on a relationship with sisters. Something he says he's not proud of; Yeah Right! If you are looking for a leech, a liar, and a good HIV/AIDS candidate, Ivan is your man. Let's be clear, I am posting to put the facts out there. So that woman can make an educated decision and keep their eyes open and be safe.

I thought we could go to Cuba from Jamaica? You just cant get there from US

This is my understanding about Cuba, Sus is correct, we as Americans cannot obtain a visa to travel to Cuba, but if we go by an in-direct way, Cuba will allow you in. They will stamp your passport on entry, then when you are leaving, they will tear that stamp page out as if you never set foot on their soil. Since Brits are not banned from being in Cuba, you just tell them you are British if asked.

I would love to travel to Cuba, to look at some of their art work there. That may be a reason why I might try to obtain my JA residence.

Isn't tearing out a page, defacing it, thus making it void? Wouldn't you have to go get a new passport then and try and explain why you tore the page out of the old one?

No, I have actual seen people with pages torn out of their passpost, also you can order a re-placement passport at any time.

I thought you had to send the old one in when you request a new one unless you claim it was lost or stolen. And, if it is lost or stolen, you are supposed to file a report saying that.

Jomo, I'm sitting right here with a gentleman, who has traveled to cuba, and he has two passports, one is his old one, that has stamps from his many veture, and he says exactly what Sus, said, when he visited Cuba, they inserted a seperate piece of papaer in it, stamped him in, and when he left Cuba, they removed the sheet. therefore you are not defacing your passport.

Second, he just got his new version of his passport, not because it was lost but because he wanted the updated one with the bar code. He asked for a replacement and they sent it to him, after he sent in an updated photo. He said he did not have to report any thing to the law. Now, did the US govt do something on their end, who knows. He has indicated that he will keep his old passport for the stamps.

Also, my husband, bless his soul, told me to let those "who does not know, to continue not know" the less said is better.

What I have learned from being a business woman is, every battle is not mine 's to fight, only fight those that give me some value.

Therefore, I will continue to do what I do best, and that is to find ways to educate those who would like to make a difference in their economic situations. I work with a recruiting company that recruits on an average 200 seasonal workers a year from Jamaica for jobs in the US. So, I do know personally, issues that are plaguing Jamaica in the job market.

I went to Clintons speeches and I think someone gave us the tickets.

Subject: Inauguration

Since I am receiving so many inquiries about Inaugural activities/tickets, I am sending out this information to help those of you who are interested in attending any of the events.

Inauguration Ceremony - Will be held at the Capitol on Tuesday, January 20 at noon. Free tickets are distributed by members of Congress. Please contact your Congress member immediately. If he or she is a Republican, your odds may be better at obtaining a ticket. There will be a high demand this year. Most tickets will only get you on to the grounds with no seat and no reserved space. You will need to arrive early and stand for a long period of time.

Parade - Is free, but you will need to arrive early to claim a viewing spot. The grand stand seats are reserved and you will need a ticket to sit. Tickets are usually distributed to big contributors and party insiders. Don't know what the method will be this year.
Hotel room along the route probably are all sold. If you work in an office building along the route, find out if the space with the view has been sold and if everybody from the company is invited.
If connected with the DC Mayor, he has one of the best viewing stands, but if he invites all the city council members and guest, he may have little other room.

Inaugural Balls - Tickets are usually controlled by state political parties and the Pres. Inaugural Comm (PIC). The PIC should be operating next week. The tickets are usually sold, but you have to be invited to purchase one. You can volunteer to serve as a host through the PIC.

Hotels - The DC hotels are pretty full. They are expensive (about $700/night with 4 night minimum). You may be able to get a room in Virginia or Maryland for $500 or less. You need to try to stay near a Metro stop because auto traffic into the city will be limited.

Other Activities - Once the PIC is functioning, they will announce all the official activities. There will be many unofficial activities also.

Feel free to share this with friends and family.

LMAO - what were you doing?

Those girls that work at Shades, for the most part - are seriously hooked on drugs - They are making about $2000 a night to do what they do - Someone that lived in DJ's district worked there - Sad -

Is this 2000 Us dollars?
