Quana, I know how you feel, I love making moments memorable. Valentine's week-end was special for us. I made his b-day yesterday very special, special events happen all day long for him.

Mrs. Palmer, what is too much between husband and wives? You are married to him, if you wanted to buy him a $200 shirt and you can afford it, I say buy it. If you feel comfortable with buying him this gift, then do it.

Mrs. Palmer, if we start reviewing the shots and updating any that may need to be update, atleast it will seem like we are doing something, rather than just sitting and waiting.

Oh ladies by the way I mailed a box to Jamaica, Express Mail, UPS and they got it in 5 days. It wasn't cheap, but the items weren't cheap so that made up for the difference. UPS told me that they are not allowed to open registered mail in custom, so all items were received.

I'm trying to find the medical information, so I can verify if Joel will need any additional shots. I would like to start that now, so we are not spending at lot of money all at one time. When it comes time for the interview, I want to go to Jamaica for a week before, because after he arrives here it will probably be a while ( ayear) before we go back.

So, why don't you research the country you are trying to enter and see what their requirements are. A green card only gives you re-enter rights into the USA. All countries don't require visas, so you should research the country entery policies.

For the second part of your question about what countries can a Jamaican visit, visit the Jamaican embassy website, they would have the most up todate information.

Hi LaDIES! I have a travel question....can a Jamaican travel freely (caribbean, Europe, etc)with a green card? Will he be afforded the same "status" as an American traveler? Or ............if he had needed a Visa to go somewhere before he had his green card, does he still need a visa now?? We are looking to take a Spring trip, and I can't figure out if our options will be limited because of his JA passport.

On a similar note, I came across this Web Question (and subsequent answer), and it doesn't seem accurate to me. Can Jamaicans visit Great Britain and Ireland without a Visa?? Or any of those other countries? I don't think so!!

With a green card he is not a US citizen, he will have to obtain a visa, because he will be using his Jamaican passport. The green card only grants him rights to re-entry the USA without a visa.

The door was open , I was like, I still have time to run out of that door. I remember feeling Joel squeezing my hand and I turned to him and smiled. the wedding went on without a hitch.

Sorry about the late reply, I am trying to watch CNN and type at the same time. Getting a nanny or a nurses aide out of Jamaica is very hard. You'll do better hiring someone with a visitors visa, even though they aren't suppose to be working on a visitor's visa. That is illlegal, so I would think twicw before I get caught up in that.

A visitor will not have a SS#.

Kimmy I think crew members on a ship will get a H2B visa , some may get a HB1, but I don't know opf any cruise line that is register in the US, so most of them have some other type of visa. When a ship is docked at port in the US, the crew are required to carry their ship ID.

A J visa is usually given to a student for education in the USA. They are allowed to work on a J1 visa, but they can't do AOS on it without a wavier given.

That's why this requirement is printed in this flyer 'Requirements: Must be enrolled in a college or University.

Ladies, I am writting this just as a FYI.

The work programs that usually recurite from Jamaica workers, will not be able to recurite Jamaican workers this year, There have been a cap hold on recuriting H2B workers, therefore these same company have to advertise locally before they can be granted a H2B cap release. In saying this, I am putting it out there that companies such as Pool companies, Resorts, Asumentment parks, Hotels any other company that normally recurit sesonal workers will be looking for workers here in the US.

Thnx Rox, i knew this was coming..but i thought they 1st have to get to the B2B visa cap..so now what's gonna happen to the H2B visa when everyone is hired from within the US..with all this crackin down on illegal immigrants..they feel if they slow the H2B visas u can decrease the amount of illegals? hmmm

NO, that not what's happen, since our economic situation is so stress, the rule is you have to hire within the US, before they can allow for the H2B cap to be extended. I feel this capis only going to be for this year, then next year we will be back to recuirting from outside of the US.

now i get it Rox and it makes sense..

And if i'm not mistaken remember u can't adjust from a J visa..so don't think about it

There you go, the cap doesn't appy to the J visa's only the H2B- seasonal workers. I have guys calling me left and right because the H2b have been capped. One guy just told me to find him a wife, I just laugh. This will be hard on a lot of them, because they were counting on returning for another year.

Ryon, that $2000 is about correct, I will explain it later. But he needs to be sure that the company has been alocted it's number of H2B visa before he pays out any money.

Rox, have you heard of employmentjamaica?

I just found this email in my inbox:
We are currently seeking students who are interersted in working this summer on the J1 Work/Travel program.

Requirements: Must be enrolled in a college or University.

Apply early and take advantage of our early application discount.

Registration Seminar will be held in Ocho Rios on January 24, 2009 at 10 a.m. Call to reserve your space.

If you, or someone you know have an interest - please email Allison at admin@employmentjamaica.com.

I am going to email it to baby momma to see if she interested.... then she could bring the baby and we could have her for the summer!!!!

PortAngel, whoa this is not what you think. They are looking for people who are already here (USA)on their J1 visa to offer them emplaoyment since they can't get any H2B workers out.
