Hey:

Congrats Philly!!!

Over time I have heard ppl say they stay in JA for like 6wks at a time. But when I go they only give me 30 days when immigration stamps my passport. Question: How do you get them to give you a longer stay? I have been reading on travel.state.gov website and it said something like you can get entry into a country for up to 6mos but its up to the discretion (sp?) of the customs officer. So is there a way you can request a longer visit when you arrive or do you have to give them some long story about why you need to stay more than 30days? Any insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If your plane ticket is for 6 weeks, then they will stamp your passport for that time period.

Honey I am glad to hear you are feeling like you are home when you are in Jamaica now. That is how I feel when I am there with Joel, it like I am home and we just fall into a pattern as if I had been there all the time.

Philly, I know exactly what you mean, we have agrued over why I wanted to know why the sun is shinning in Jamaica. I say down the hill, he says down the road and who's right. That's why this is taking me thru some loops, i find that we are arguing over stupid shyt.

it's like I can make any stride forward, and this is not like me... I just got a promo on my job today, i should be happy right, no I'm focusing on this visa. I call joel in the middle of the day and goes off on him about the visa, he just shuts down. I didn't even celebrate my fathers b-day yesterday, and he called me and asked what's wrong with me. This is not like me....

I'm use to enjoying and living life.

Thanks Ellsi, I hate not having control of my life right now. This process has a way of taking over your life, and not allowing you to breath. Everyday you are holding your breath waiting for something to happen.

It doesn't matter money wise one way or the other, but I think it would be better if we did the K3, because when we apply for AOS, we should be close to our 2 year anniversary. That way we can get the 10 year GC, rather than going thru this process twice for the same amount of money.

Hey Rox! I was just checking the uscis website & I saw this early yesterday afternoon! I was excited---but vexed because I never got (and still haven't received) the e-mail notification that it had been "touched". How are you doing sweetie?

Hating every moment of this waiting process. I want to go on with my life and this visa process has everything put on hold. Let's just say today is not one of my better days.

Hating this weather, it cold and snowny, I need sunshine.

Rox....did you send it registered mail through UPS or USPS?

- Marie rose.gif

Marie, it was register mail thru USPS... It was a box of clothes and such.... I hads it sent it out on a Saturday and it arrived on that Thursday. I saw when it left NY headed to Ja, then I saw where it was checked into custom, and then checked at his local PO in Kingston.

And customs did not open the box? Did you write clothes as the box's contents?

Marie, I wrote clothes on the declare ticket, custom did not open the box.

Sus, only evenlopes cannot be tracked when they are sent priority mail International. So I don't know if you can track a priority box.

Online Tracking - Put our delivery information to work for you. Track PMI package shipments. Note: Tracking is not available for Priority Mail International Flat-Rate Envelopes.

I have used USPS Priority mail - they have flat rate boxes available. Had no problems, could track it all the way, and it reached in about a week.

Good morning all.

I sent my box 3 weeks ago and it still haven't reached MoBay crying.gif. It left here on the 13th and shipped out of Philly on the 16th. They are investigating it now but said Jamaican customs can take up to 90 days to respond.

Shemmy, that's why I went register.... UPS stated that register mail by-pass custom inspection... Now I know others will say they have had better results from priority mail, but my GF who works for the USPS told me that the only mail that is guarenteed is registered mail. In my case a flat rate and registered cost the same.

Island woman I sent it register mail, and every thing was received. Custom is not allowed to open register mail, also you can track register mail. So I was able to see it all the way thru transport, I ws able to tell him that it was at the PO ready for pick-up aswell.

It was rec'd in 5 days.

Thanks Roxie. Was it a box?

It was a box... Island woman the reason I used register mail was thqt the Ins is aalready included inthe cost... With Priority mail, Ins is an additional fee. They both works, but it's what value you put on the package.

what would be the option, better the standards and pay for the employees or fly in workers from spain and india and wherever else and pay them effectively locking out JA workers? ( one of those things that makes me go hmmm)
