Everything you need to know about obtaining a JA passport is on that web sit. Here is the web site link http://www.congenjamaica-ny.org. If you look under the passport link, you will find information about obtaining a passport for a minor.

You will be just fine so stop worrying LOL

Hey Rox! I see....I'm not paying my AOS bill til next week tho. I sent off for my tax transcripts for my package, and I'm working on getting my employment letter. My husband went to Kingston yesterday to get his police certificate, and they told him it should be 7-10 days. Then he'll send that to me. I have his BC, copies of his passport pages, DS 230 and stuff signed already. Do you need to do the AOS package for the K3 as well?

Congrats beautiful! You should call and have the interview scheduled anyway even though you don'g have the interview paper yet. They will probably set his medical date for May 29th so you still have a little time for it to come in the mail.

So now the money for the K1 is going to be all on me, as well as the AOS fees since he will not be able to save like we discussed...

I make good money, but my expenses are high and most months it is paycheck to paycheck. I was saving 100 a month for the K1 and was ok there... I guess if I keep up the $100 a month savings we will be okay...

Tre, it's both a piece of property and the land is separate. I can't touch it in a div proceeding unless we have been married 10 years or more.

Okay, the appleton is really kicking in...I meant to type "FAMILY LAND/property"...I'm so gone for the day.

Tre, no it's not Family Land...Joel has been guided by an older gentlemen that took an intrest in him when he was a young teenager, who taught him how to invest, so he saved up his money and brought this piece of land. It is on a hill side and it over looks the ocean. His property was left to him by this gentleman, it is a house that was left to him and 3 other indiviuals. They have divided it up into 6 seperate living spaces. It like 6 condo's.

When he first told me he had land, I called him a lier, I was proven wrong by him. I still cringe when I think about our conversation that day.

Tre, Joel has sign the pre-nup, alot of it states that All assest that we each had aquired before our marriage would not be considered if there was a divorce. He has agreed that the beneficary of my life insurance policies will stay as they are, my child. If we want we can aquire additional ones and make each other beneficaries. My 401 and all of my partnership with the family business will not be included in any divorce proceedings.

Now I am a firm believer of keeping finances separate ...

Why, if you don't mind sharing?

Nat, it's a lot of individualization involved but I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that I am quite the pessimist and am always preparing for the worst. Going through law school taking courses in Wills and Trusts didn't help. When I finally began to understand the divisional aspects of divorce (even with the existence of a pre/post numpt) it scared the begeezus out of me, so much that I am so afraid of marriage at this point in my life and it is one of the reasons I have been putting it off. I have witnessed divorces where one spouse made more than the other (surprisingly, it was not always the man). I make a good enough salary and so my chances of marrying someone making less than I do I see as almost a given. Also I am a saver and an investor and probably will have more assets so in a divorce it is more likely that I would be paying palimony unless I can establish that the ex is not so financially dependant on me. I have children and my primary goal is always first to secure their future, it's what I have worked so hard and persevered through odds for. I am dreaded of the possibility of having to take away from them because I would have to take care of someone else that is otherwise healthy and therefore can care for themselves. (Shoot, I have worked 3 jobs and walked 4 miles to and from work to live and get the bills paid.) Then there is also the child support issue. I would flip if someone came after me when I never even sought child support from my own BD and that is a shared responsibility. I have learned that when it comes to personal finances because the arrangements are so much considered in the courts like a business partnership, for my circumstances it is best to keep them separated. Now for daily household items, cable, furniture, items acquired during the marriage, etc. that's shared. But we will have his car in his name, my car in my name, credit card in his name, mine in my name, taxes filed separately, etc. So I guess it boils down to, for me in case of a divorce,
QUOTE
I am finding it's the only way I can protect my children future inheritance in the absence of a pre-numpt.

Now I am a firm believer of keeping finances separate ...

Why, if you don't mind sharing?

Nat, it’s a lot of individualization involved but I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that I am quite the pessimist and am always preparing for the worst. Going through law school taking courses in Wills and Trusts didn’t help. I have children and my primary goal is always first to secure their future, it’s what I have worked so hard and persevered through odds for. Now for daily household items, cable, furniture, items acquired during the marriage, etc. that’s shared. But we will have his car in his name, my car in my name, credit card in his name, mine in my name, taxes filed separately, etc. So I guess it boils down to, for me in case of a divorce,

I am finding it’s the only way I can protect my children future inheritance in the absence of a pre-numpt.
