Congratulations Marie......

Mrs. P, the same day pick up must be very new, because Joel had to go back the next week for his pick up.

Do he need to have his results this fast, if not I would advise him to not have them to rush any thing.

To all of those who are sending letters with yopur SO, I hope you don't have your hope up too high that they will be read. What I witness was if you are not in attendance than they will base everything on what your SO has to say.

Joel got his CG, within 3 weeks time. Since he already had a SS from his previous work stay here in 2007. This did make getting everything within this week time easier. We got GC, State ID, Bank Acct and Credit Card, cell phone account all within this time period. We are waiting on Driver Lic, he will have to take a 3 week, class, so no need to rush.

Now we have job applications out, just waiting for a call back.

that's great!
how hard is it to get a cell phone plan?

Sprint has a plan with a credit limit associated with it, so when he goes over 350.00 they shut his phone off, until he pays them to no be over the 350.00 credit limit. This helps with the JA calls....

I used to have that plan and with callin JA I used to hit the credit limit all the time. This was before I learned about Ringyard. Whoo Sprint made so much money off of me I'm sure I paid alot of peoples salaries.

DaDa, Joel found out the hard way too, so now he uses the good old trustie phone cards. He keep asking me, how did I call JA so much when he ws there, I am ot telling him about Ringyard or rebtel yet. I like seeing him savioring his minutes on his phone card.

NO, Bank of America will give 1st time Credit Card holders a small credir. His bank acct is with Bank of America, becuse they have an association with the Scora sp Bank in JA.

Yes, exactly you donot have to stay until you get your CG, your passport will be stamp with a CR1 stamp. Under the CR1 you are allow multiple entries on that stamp.

You don't even have to fly all the way to NY, you could check in your POE at FLL or Miami, then fly back to JA and wait out the wait for your SS and GC while you are in JA.

Bunn, just a thought you know with the CR1 you can come to the US, to start the GC printing process, and go back to JA and re-enter when the CG and SS is about to be sent to you.

Joel and I have both been out of the country on his CR1 stamp, and re-entered without any problems. So you could continue to work in JA while you are waiting for the SS and GC to arrive at your new US address. This is just a thought.

To start the process you will have to enter the US, and then go back out.

I figure since I am one of the few ppl on the other side of the visa process (recipient as opposed to petitioner) i'd share some of the feelings going through my head these past couple weeks

up until the time i got my approval i had tunnel vision on the initial part of the process and i was kind of agonizing over the approval. i just wanted to get that part over with. i kept hearing ppl talk about how fast it goes after that but it didn't register with me until we actually got the approval notice. even though its still taking a while, when i think about it, i'm gonna be sending off packages sooner than i think

now all of a sudden i am feeling anxiety and i am not sure about what. it is as if, i'm unsure of what i was so anxious for all along. i don't know how to explain it but i can identify with all your stories about your men having a hard time adjusting because in a sense, i am already having a hard time adjusting. it's very conflicting because i miss and so badly want to be with my hubby but it's hitting me that this is gonna be a drastic change. for one, i don't know how i'm gonna manage without a job for a while. i'm kinda envious of some of you ladies whose men get their visas today and by next week they're gone. i have bills that will continue to be incurred even after i leave and i'm pretty much responsible for them. hubby is in a transition mode right now too. there are so many things taking place and i'm not quite sure how they will end up.

i'm trying to put more faith in God and leave it to Him to work out. sometimes i think as long as i am with hubby i'll be ok but then other times i am soooo scared of the uncertain.

i say all of this to say, seriously i know sometimes dealing with your spouses can be a pain in the a$$ because it may seem like they are ungrateful or just whining but be patient. maybe i am just emotionally drained right now. i think that's a big part of it.

anyway, umm let me shut up now

Bunn, just remember what I have said to Joel, things as they are today, will not be like this forever. Next year this time we will look back at these moments and laugh at how we reacted to everything. But, I will say to everyone that we must remember this LIFE CHANGING EVENTS are hard for both parties involve. Just be patient and remember your SO really needs you to be there for them when they are going thru the transition. They also, needs some type of closure to leaving, they are leaving the only place they have lived. They are leaving family and friends who have been a big part of their lives. The phones calls back home will happen and they must happen. So you have to decide how you want to handle this.

Jamerican Queen, since you want to continue this conversation, you can continue to update this site when it needs to be updated properly. Since I will have my interview on 7/6/09, I will not continue to update this post, this post was started so other VJ's could find their and friends information quickly. If you had read the titled it say interview not case approvals, but I find that may have been too much to ask you to read and comprehend. So don't ask me to chill, their is no chiefs or indians here, I was just asking you to consider and respect the integrity of what this post was trying to do.

The last time I checked SUS, (since you invoked her name in this discussion) was not the owner of this post. Nor am I, but at least I took my time to maintained it so others could get a benefit from it. There are 1000's of post that get posted everday, and unless someone maintains it, they have no value therefore lets see what you will have too contribute to assist OTHERS.

most of their suggestions for evidence we don't have because we don;t live together. we JUST started a bank account less than a month ago so it doesn't have alot of money in it
i've heard sending affidavits is a "joke"
so i want to know what did you guys send as evidence of a bonafide marriage when you were submitting your I130?

The marriage cert, and two letters from friends who knew us both and could validate our reationship.

Yeah but as Americans we are quick to look at the faults in other cultures before we knock our own. Til this day when I mention I'm messing with a Jamaican I already know what’s going to come out their mouths. I'm about to hear all the negative reasons on why I shouldn’t date one....

One good thing I can say about where I work is that I don't get that. I think that typically comes from Americans, possibly ones who haven't experienced very many cultures.

My coworkers, who are from Pakistan, Egypt, China, Ecuador, Canada, Brazil, India, and of course the USA, are WAAAAY less judgemental about dating people from other cultures. They don't automatically assume that people who marry Americans are just after a green card.

Nat, this is the same for me, I welcome working with a diverse group of people.

Kimmy/Gill...I agree 100%...I love Jamaica from the time I step outside and look at the hills across from the airport and breath in that air and let the sun hit my face...I'm so happy (no matter) what mood I was in before, all of my stress just gone.
Shemmy, you talking $20.00...if I'm missing $5.00 I freak out...but I understand what' you're saying. My brother had to learn the hard way. How the hell you go to Jamaica with $1500/US and the money done in less than 2 weeks, cause you going from Negril to Portmore almost everyday partying. The "money man" mentality take YEARS to get out their system...my aunt told me she stop fuss with her husband, til dem rob im rass one night at bottom road in Mobay...then he learned.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every Mawning that how eiddah Ken ah seh hit tuh mi or mi tuh em..."Mawnin' Babe, WE NEED A TRIP HOME!!!! Just the vibes are so dyam different! Is like the minute yuh step through the customs door outside everything just SLOW DOWN and I exhale...I'm home!!! luv.gif

I NEED A VACATION YA'LL!!! wacko.gif

So now that you'll are almost finish, GC on order, when are you planning on taking the whole family home.

Facts to store away, and use when your child has to do a Black History report. No more Harriet Tuman reports

Why Don't We Know Her? -- Rear Adm. Michelle Howard . . .

In a message dated 4/23/2009 4:09:21 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [Blank] writes: fox news has never mentioned this fact. Do much for reporting
MAERSK-ALABAMA CAPTAIN RESCUED BY REAR ADM. MICHELLE HOWARD'S SHIP

Whoa!

Nope, this is one you SURE DIDN'T HEAR on the news. The ship that rescued the Maersk-Alabama's captain was skippered by a BLACK FEMALE REAR ADMIRAL? Get OUT of here!

If you're like me, you briefly saw her in some news clips, and (like me) probably figured she was some medical tech.

You GO, girl!

On the other hand, in an ideal world, no this SHOULDN'T BE "news." Anymore than that it should be "news" that we have female B-52 pilots or black admirals, or (say) a black President.

Can't post her picture.

Hey Kimmy, oh yes there is...(laughing), Come with me to the British Virgin Island next week... There is room, booked a 3 bedroom condo, two people backed out.

I agree w/Kimmy! Oh, I've been to the Bahamas, Cayman, Barbados, TNT, St. Maarteen, Antigua, PR, DR (used to work for Pan Am laughing.gif)...they are ALL lovely...but fuh mi ...there is no place like home. But IMO, dem all fail in some aspect, in comparison to JA. However, my opinion is obvioulsy biased to my homeland!

Agree Home is always where the heart will be.
