Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDoes Jamaica pick the interview date for you?
Yes, the Jamaican Embassy selects the date for you. Your SO will be required to have her medical in Jamaica as well.

Please note, the USC is not allowed to attend the interview in Jamaica.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamica Medical What to Expect?

Ok this doesnt tell me anything, i appreciate your help but i didnt ask what race they were or even what gender, i asked what do they do in the medical as in do they do a physical Vaginal Check, breast exam ETC....

Mike, I did answer your question, the same exam that is being done in the Philippines, is the the same that will be performed in Jamaica. I do not know why you would be concern if they did a vaginal exam or not if you weren't concern about the gender and race of the person performing it. There will be a female nurse on hand to assist the doctor with whatever type of exam that will be needed to assist the patient in ensuring them that they will have a complete exam done in the most professional manner.

Now, based on the patients history as this information will be taken from the patient prior to the exam, will determine the necessity of a brief, immediate or extensive physical exam. What this statement is saying that no one on this board can say if she will be given a vaginal exam or not. The probability is that she will not be given a vaginal exam.

The medical in Jamaica is the same as the medical in the Philippines. The doctor can be a male and the nurse will probably be a female. The doctor can be of any nationality, ie Jamaican, Indian, or African.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamaican Passports Places and Turnaround Times
Thanks for the info. Lol, Yes we are WELL aware since day 1 a Jamaican passport is a requirement. Can't figure out why we don't have a passport for him yet.

Let me spell it out for you R G D. Can't renew a passport with out a new Certified birth certificate on security paper. They told him that last September when he went to renew his passport with his origional birth cert. So he went to RGD and applied for the birth cert on 9/15/2010.

11 months later still no birth certificate. So that is why I am inquring about a rush passport so once he finally gets his birth cert we can get all the other stuff we can't get until he has a passport and a birth cert. Fun Fun! Want to talk about waiting to exhale!!! Try going through this scenerio. But I guess everyone has their own set of problems and different experiences. Definately not waiting buy choice or ignorance, rather unfortunate circumstance. I pray no one else every has to go through the hell they are putting us through at RGD. But i'm confident we will soon have it and we can look back and laugh about it.

I just wanted to highlight this statement, b/c when I informed another poster of this fact on another post, there were postesr who stated that they knew of people recently that were issued BC's using their old copies of BC. I feel better now that this wasn't just being applied to my relatives in Kingston.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaKingston Interview, How Long Until VISA In Hand?

I looked on the site for the answer to my question and can't find it! Anyone who's been there already or anyone who knows, I'm trying to figure out if I fly down for fiance's interview in Kingston, which is the plan, will it be realistic to think we can fly back here for his entry into the U.S. together? How long does it take after the interview has been passed to receive the K-1 Visa in hand?

:clock: :clock: :clock:

This information is posted on the yardie thread, but I will re-state it. The embassy generally gives the Beneficary a window of 4 days or more. The minuim would be 4. DONOT BOOK A PLANE TICKET UNTIL VISA IS IN HAND.

Why all the changing of flights, if your flight is missed due to going thru custom, you WILL be put on the next available flight out. MIA has a seperate area designated for missed flights due to custom, right after you exit the doors from custom.

Yes, going thru custom will depend on the time of day, and how many other people from your flight whom is also put in 2nd inspection.

They are deported to the nearest airport in Columbia, and they are given what family members have put into their accounts. On the day of deportation they will let the family member know where they will land in Columbia if you inquire. They will not let you know which airport they leave from within the USA. For safety reasons.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamaica Post Interview Slips

Nope, nope nope. As evidenced on here and seen by myself, lately, they DO NOT TELL YOU that you are denied at the US embassy in Jamaica. You have to figure it out for yourself. They say 'your fiance will tell you' in essence, and that the file is being returned to the USCIS. No white paper! No 'you are denied'.
That is why these poor people are confused and don't know what to do after their fiance's interview is over and they get their passports back. The IO say very little. You just have to figure that if they don't keep the beneficiary passport, you're screwed basically.

And DOS will not say much either. They will tell you "the file is being reviewed. Its in AP". Only when it reaches back stateside, they will have any real information for you which is still not much. Wish you all the best.

Slim, when did you have your interview at the embassy? They are told in essence that a visa will not be issued to them at this time(they are denied), most of the Beneficiary are in total shock as to what is happen that they are not listening to what is being said to them.

Also I have been on this board since 2008 and have read each and every denial, some are not as detailed as the rest. I have read past history, i.e the Yardie Thread that goes back to the beginning of posting information about the process in Jamaica.

@staceluvyou....thank you
@life'sjourney....i read in some reviews of the Kingston Embassy that some people got pink slips meaning that their applications were approved. And some were disappointed when they received a blue slip.

Those were probably old reviews, Kingston only give out white for denial reasons, and blue if they wish for a 2nd interview. Otherwise they will tell you up-front approved or denied.

ChinaCan MIL stay longer than 6 months?
First, the mother may request a visa extension, but be mindful of these facts, if the extension is not granted her time over the six months will be counted as an overstay. If she overstays without the proper permission, the multi-entry visa will become null and void. Most of the time the extension is not known until after the applicant has overstayed their orginal time.

Second, the reason for the extension must be a valid reason.

Africa: Sub-Saharanshocked, but making headway! yay! have another question
Afrilaskan, no one can give you the answer you are looking for here, because on ALL of your pots, the situations and time lines don't add up. So to help everyone and to keep all of the details in one place could you please only post your situation in one area. Second, you need to make a tmeline , very detailed timeline of the events that have taken place regarding your entire situations so that all of the pieces can be viewed together. Third, we will need to know all of the reasons why your husband was denied, I know it maybe hard to share some of the details but unless everything is stated it is hard to piece together why this has happen, The timeline will enable us to guaze what happen at what time in this process. The denials reasons will assist in telling you exactly how to resolve this situation. The reasons why I am saying everything has not been posted is because you stated in a previous post that there were some things you didn't want to share at that time, this was after you had spoken to Marc Ellis.

If you are working with a lawyer, this will become de-constructed, because you will have many people telling you different things to do to resolve this bad problem. I know you are feeling loss right now, but take the time to put everything on a time-line, and tell what event took place, and how you resolved them.
i.e lawyer filed I-130 on mmddyy
recvd NOA2 for I-130 on mmddyy from uscis
NVC sent notice of receiving I-130 on mmddyy

Be as detailed as possible, and I think you will see where some of the pitfalls and mistakes happen.

Take a deep breath and start this small process to get to the end.

You may be correct as to where he may be interviewing, so don't let me confuse you on that part. But what I have seen and read from alots of the post from that part of the community is that meeting the family plays a big part in the relationship and interview process. It is good that you are reading up on the interviews that have already taken place at those embassies.

Africa: Sub-SaharanTraveling with your Fiance

Hi everyone!!

I'm just about to get this whole process started. I don't think my situation is so unique (although it sure does feel like it). I have a quick question...did any of you fly here with your fiance after the visa was granted (Or do you plan to, once it's granted)? Why or why not?

I know this is thinking a little far ahead but I am trying to get as many things thought through as possible, considering it may not be such an easy process (future hubby is Nigerian but has been living in The Gambia for the past 3.5 years).

I have been mulling around in my head whether it would be better from him to leave from Nigeria to come here (this way he could be with his family just before he leaves) especially since he will be traveling back and forth to Nigeria getting his birth certificate, passport change (has a different last name), criminal record, etc for his interview in Dakar (since he now lives in The Gambia). Meeting him in Nigeria to fly back with him

would also give me the opportunity to meet his dad and sisters (his oldest brother has been married to my cousin for the past 8 years

) and also allow me to hold his hand (he's a bit fearful of flying such a long way...ssshhhh don't tell him I told you ;) ) on the plane. Plus, going to Nigeria is so much cheaper than The Gambia.

Any and all thoughts welcome.

Those two points that have been higlighted above will probably cause you'll some concern at the embassy. If I were you I would read up on the interviews that have been conducted at the Nigeria and Gambia embass. Then I would suggest that you'll make sure you'll are prepare for all questions that the OP will be asking.

READ..... READ.... the Africia/Sahara forum very carefully.

Good luck and Congratulations

Personally at the interview a smart CO would realized that the Petitioner has not been truthful to the US government by not reporting her extended stay outside of the country, while still collecting US government funded benefits. This could affect how much the CO believes any answers that the Petitioner had responded to regarding the petitioning of a visa for her husband. Everything has a trigger down affect.

It's that syndrome effect that everyone has that one small white lie doesn't hurt anything.

Hi and thanks for your response,
Like I said in the beginning she is planning on staying for the length of time it will take in her husband receiving his visa (8 to 12 months) Didn't realize she must register after being there for 6 months...is this a hard and fast rule?

Depends on the country, most countries only allow a tourist visa stay for 90 days to six months. Anything after six months, most considered you to be living in the country not visting.

First, define extended period of time, for most countries spending any time greater than six months requires you to register as a resident. If your friend register as a resident of another country, than yes she will lose her government funded benefits.
