K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F FIVE Months and NO answer?
I think the 4 month wait is far from being current. If you do a quick search or just go straight up to the forum on service centers, you can see numerous threads on extended wait times and how there is a lot of people waiting 7 months and up. We got our NOA2 September 5th and are not expecting any news for the next 2 months.

Good luck !

we pretty much accepted the fact that the wait will be at least 7 months but most likely 8. Also, seeing what is going on now...we should have gotten married in the country I was living in at the time but nobody knew, nobody could know. It sucks, we both are worried that on top of 8 months there will be big wait for other things and not being able to do anything is the worst.

Good luck to all of us and let's pray that CSC speeds up at some point...that is all we can do.

did you try to check Igor's list ? I know not everyone updates their timeline but that will give you a good idea on who had been approved so far and if they got RFE's. Do a search for Igor's list K1 and that should do it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTimeline
mine says between March 11-23rd but that changed about 10 times if not more in the past 6 months so I don't see it as accurate at all. All the approvals seem so random as if only half of the staff was working on K1's and some are just doing something else so their stack of applications remains untouched, which is why it is so out of order. I am praying we will know something at 8 months to be honest and my timeline will probably change 10 more times before then lol

Out of curiosity, with all the uncertainty about when this process will be over, is anyone actually making proper plans for a wedding?? I'm so glad now that we agreed to do a ceremony further down the line...I don't think they can expect anyone to have a big white wedding at 3 months notice!

we are also planning a smaller wedding with family and some friends but we would have done that in any case since nobody from my side can really fly over. Not setting dates or anything since the wait is rather unpredictable. Thought I'd chime in with my info too :)

I am working on an IR1 and we sent or DS-230 and got an RFE. We need to obtain a police report for portugal. My wife and I lived their for 2 year while I was in the military. I called the embassy in the azores where we lived and they had no idea what to do which concerns me greatly as this is the last thing we need to get our case completed and an interview date. My wife contacted the Portuguese consulate in japan and they said she would have to fly to tokyo we are trying to figure out how can we manage that with her job and our finances. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Hi everybody,

I am not Portuguese but I found this on the website of the DEPARTMENT of STATE.

You might have a look at his link: http://travel.state...._3653.html#docs

POLICE RECORDS
(Including Madeira and the Azores)

Available. A Certidao de Registo Criminal is issued by the Direccao Geral de Administracao da Justica, Avenida 5 de Outubro 125, 1050, Lisbon, to people 16 years of age or over, regardless of their place of birth or residence. Requests are processed and available immediately. Validity is for three months as of the date of issuance. If the above record reveals conviction, a complete record may be obtained from the Presiding Judge of the Court where the fine or sentence was imposed. The procedure is the same for resident non-nationals. Former residents and Portuguese nationals applying from abroad should submit their requests through the nearest Portuguese Embassy or Consulate. Processing time for out of country requests is approximately one month.

It looks like you have to fly to Tokyo and apply for the police certificate personally.

Hi everybody,

I PASSED my immigrant visa interview today, my immigrant visa was APPROVED.

I came to the U.S. Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic at 2:30 PM, my interview was scheduled for 3:00 PM.
I went through the security check, the security guard took my cell phone and put it in the box. He gave me a badge and I could go to the consular section of the U.S.Embassy.
I took a ticket from a kiosk and waited in the immigrant visa waiting room till my number appeared on the screen.
The consul asked for my medical exam, he didn´t want to see the X-rays. Then I was told to give him my passport. The consul didn´t ask for other things cause I had already submitted all documents to the NVC. The consul went through the papers and told me to wait until my number appears on the screen once more.

I waited about 10 mins and then I was called to the counter. I signed the DS-230 Part II, the consul took my fingerprints and asked me ONLY two questions:

How many times have you been to the U.S.?
Have you overstayed your visa?

Then he told me I was approved. I spent only 45 mins at the U.S.Embassy.

I found also more info about K3 Visa on the website of the U.S. Department of State:

Applying for a Visa

The embassy or consulate where you, the spouse of an American citizen, will apply for a K-3 visa must be in the country where your marriage took place. Here are the procedures to apply. The embassy or consulate will let you know any additional things to do, such as where you need to go for the required medical examination. During the interview process, an ink-free, digital fingerprint scan will be taken. Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a Consular Officer. The following is required:

Two copies of form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application
One DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application form
Police certificates from all places lived in since the age of 16
Birth certificates
Marriage certificate for spouse
Death and divorce certificates from any previous spouses
Medical examination (except vaccinations)
A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).
Two nonimmigrant visa photos, two inches/50 X 50 mm square, showing full face, against a light background)
Proof of financial support (Form I-134 Affidavit of Support may be requested.)
Payment of fees, as explained below

Have a look at this limk for more details : http://travel.state....types_2993.html

Can i ask you where did you file your i-129f?? It looks like on your time line that your docs where apporved in about a month. How did you manage that?? HELP!!! lol

My hubby filed my I-129F at California Service Center. He hasn´t done anything special, the California Service Center processed I-129F applications very fast till the middle of August 2008. Since then the CSC started receiving transferred applications from Vermont Service Center. Vermont Service Center was working very slow so the USCIS decided to transfer some K1,K3, IR1/CR1 Visas to CSC. That´s the reason the CSC is slow now as well.
