Everything around here is still more than new enough, so I don't really need to travel anywhere else. We'll probably go someplace nice next time we go to Europe to visit my family. It's planned for the next spring, but we'll see about details. We're also planning to have a wedding ceremony in Croatia, for all those who couldn't make it to the US. We didn't have a church wedding here (it might happen in Croatia, if we find a priest willing to do so, since neither of us is particularly religious - it's just that I happen to meet all the requirements for a roman catholic wedding and we really like old Croatian churches). It took place at the Civic Center here in Mankato and was followed by a really nice reception for around 100 people at a really nice restaurant. Time to start panicking?! hello to change the title, do this on the top, click on My Controls then on the left side, choose edit profile information then you should see this "Custom member title" on the right side you will need a certain amount of post before you can change the title, if you don't see "Custom member title" that means you don't have enough posts yet. I'm trying to get my K1 re-validated by the consulate so that I can go back to the UK and then use it to re-enter, but it doesn't look good. My condolences, Gemmie. I graduated from college on July 3rd, so that's all sorted now. The job, I finally managed to sort, too, so as of July 1st, I'm officially unemployed, as well. We finally have tickets, for August 8th. Mom got a 10 year visa, so she'll be flying with me, while others still don't know what they'll do. It's a fuckton of money, for everyone to get there (and back, of course). I'm slowly exploding from trying to figure out what all I need to do before I leave, let alone the part where I need to figure out what to pack and how to organize the things right. It seems the total weight of baggage per person has gone down to just 20kg, so that's freaking me out, too. Here's something we're a bit confused about.. When I get there, we'll be able to apply for a SSN for me. Then, after the wedding, we're able to send in the AOS thing. But.. what, exactly, is Advanced Parole? The .gov website says it's supposed to be for emergency situations. Here on the forum, we've gathered information that you need to apply for AP, too, if you'd like to be able to leave the country before your AOS comes through and you hold your green card. Now.. how does it, in fact, work? We don't plan to travel anywhere outside of the US immediately (and of course I hope there won't be any emergency situations either). What do we do, then? If AP is just for emergency situations, for real, then we won't be doing it. But if you can apply for it and then just get a permit to leave the US and come back in before the green card is issued, then perhaps we'd do it. (Then again, it seems these days people don't wait 6-12 months for the green card to be sent to them, so.... We don't know!). We'd like to be able to take a trip to Croatia in, maybe, March 2010. at the earliest. What would be our route to take, with all these things, once I am there? I completed my thesis today and the final meeting with the professor (graduation part and all) should be this Friday. That's if the three essays I need to submit as well get done early this week, which should happen if the two professors show up. If that fails, graduation moves one week ahead. The four-exams-to-go problem that I had at the beginning of our finals has turned into three-down-one-before-I'm-done. It's a really hard one, with a very, uh, let's say special professor (just so I don't get censored ). I'll be taking it on Tuesday, and there is one more chance two weeks after that. But, of course, I hope I'll be done and over with this week, so that I have a little bit more time for the thesis and the remaining essays. At the beginning, I didn't think it was possible to be done before the trip, but now things seem to be really falling into place. Wedding's been fully planned, my dress is about done and I finally bought shoes yesterday morning. Cultural and other shocks are yet to come, too, but I'm doing my best not to think about it too much. Am looking forward to finally being with my fiance. (And kind of hating hopping on a plane, too.)
