Quick one here.. has anyone heard about a new policy in place at Knightsbridge now where you cannot make an appointment until London physically have your case? One of the other May filers (Nurseling) was saying in the May Filers thread that she attempted to make her medical appointment as soon as she got her LND number, and was told she couldn't do it until London had pretty much sent her Packet 3. Doesn't seem to make sense, I wouldn't have thought that the embassy would share case details with Knightsbridge.

After what I'd read before, I did wonder why I had to lay with my boobs out for most of the physical part of the medical, but at that point I was so relieved already that the mental health stuff was alright that when she was like "can you slip your robe down and lay back" I was just like, she's being nice, if she orders me to get my baps out for a while, I shalln't cause complications!

And LOL - Mine aren't Jordan-esque but not small, about 34C. Perhaps she wanted to check for scars or something. I did tell her I'd had chickenpox in March though so that's what the pinky small scars were.

First getting your bits out for the Doctor, now this! What next!? dead.gif  This makes my worry about the band pretty small in comparison. Though I hope when I have my medical at whatever point I just get a quick peek. Only one person I'll take my kit off for... whistling.gif

aww bless i can imagin there is a long story. i hope all works out well for you smile.png i had a card a while ago to take with me if i went out to eat and such but misplaced it. which injections are you refering to? i only have to take b12 once a month for injections, use to not mind them but now that i lost so much weight i can feel the needle going in haha tongue.png

Bingo, the B12 injections. My worry was that if I had the bypass over the band, when I move over to the States in the next few months and would need said B12 injections every month (or 3 months), I wouldn't be able to get them without forking over a lot of money because it may count as a pre-existing condition on Amy's insurance (or my own as the case may be).

Either way, hopefully before I leave I'll have had a couple of band fills and I'll be a lot smaller within the next couple of years.

No, I don't reckon it will be (in more ways than one). First off I'll make sure any new Doctor in the US knows I've got it fitted (hence the ID card) and also it's not going to be an issue for flying unless I've had it adjusted within the 48 hours before my flight. Had the band purely because if I had the bypass I'd have had to deal with the injections and all, and something tells me they wouldn't be covered under insurance as a pre-existing. But that's another story.

Yeah, this is kind of why I was asking about whether anyone had any clue if they'd ask questions about the gastric band I've had fitted and all of that - might show up on the x-ray or something. But either way I have the ID card for it and all that so when it does come to my turn for the medical and I go through this, it shouldn't be an issue. Could be a first for the VJ UK forums though. :P

UK is fine. When I booked my medical, I asked the receptionist "Do you need UK or US sized photographs?" and she said "Either will be fine".  If you look back through the reviews on here, too, you'll see lots of people handing over a UK passport photo and that being used.

No need for a mad dash!

p.s. I didn't realise the PhotoMe booths even DID US sized photos! Good tip.

Yup. £7 outside of London, not sure if price will change inside London. Got some for Amy to take back for the I-129F instead of trying to do them online and getting rejected or something,

That being said, I have a question for you all (and I'm sort of sure I know the answer, but I just want to confirm) - I recently had my gastric band installed. That's not really going to be a worry for the Doc's is it? Got my Band ID card so they can see the type, who installed it and so forth ready for when I actually have to have the medical..

United KingdomBefore you permanently move to the US

Pardon?  I don't understand.

Basically the last time Theresa May was challenged on these rules by fellow MPs, she essentially told them in no uncertain terms to get stuffed and to go away. Of course she did so in posh language that you tend to hear in Parliament but the meaning was "I'm Home Secretary, I can do what the hell I want, you're nothing compared to me so screw off."

Or get a better paying job?

From a practical point of view increasing wage costs should help with capital investment.

I took whatever I could back before my surgery because a job was a job in my area. But anyway, that's another story. I'm sure if people want to talk politics they can do it in the appropriate forum.

United KingdomBefore you permanently move to the US

Because they're being cray-cray. I listened to the lecture given by Ms. May and a MP asked about it. Basically she said to shove off.

My husband is a secondary physics teacher (field shortage). I'm a neonatal nurse (field shortage). Yet, they wouldn't take us. Seriously, man. They're cray cray to the max. Will it stand? I dunno. I've had my own personal dealings wit the NMC (nursing/midwifery council) and that was a testament in itself. I'm so glad I got my UK nursing license before all the new stuff came down (never mind the fact that I had to take the IELTS despite the fact that I'm natural-born American who completed a bachelor's degree instructed in English). Due to this, I'm not super confident in the ability of the UK government to rectify this.

On the other hand, the complaining will be more entertaining than American citizens complaining about their own government.

I really feel badly for people like Rebeccajo who have personal situations that really warrant them being in the UK. David and I can live here in the USA, no problem (so far). We have great paying jobs. I make twice as much here as in the UK for the same position. But....it's a shame that they are not utilizing one of their own for his natural talents, in a shortage area, no less!!

When I asked Michael Howard on Question Time about why they (as in the LibCons) wouldn't up minimum wages to help people, he basically gave me a non-answer. When the Liberals wanted my support, I pointed them to that and told them to shove off... does seem like the current UK government are a bunch of self-absorbed crackpots. Which is why I won't vote anymore (though I won't have to worry about that soon it seems..)

Update regarding calling Department of State (Post 2, Point 2)

As of January 27th, the Department of State is now unable to provide information regarding K1 cases. You must call the National Visa Center instead on the number listed in this post.

VanitasMaleUnited Kingdom2014-02-05 12:54:00
United KingdomLondon K1. A complete guide.

Last Things Last ? Post Interview

  1. You've got your passport and BBE ? now what? Well, it goes without saying you and your other half will now need to decide when you're leaving so you can book flights. Go ahead and do that now assuming nothing major is barring you (like a pending house sale).

  2. There's a thread on things you need to do before leaving the UK - read the entire thread though, as many people have contributed things not in the first post.

  3. When you arrive at your Point of Entry (POE), make sure you have your Passport, BBE and Customs Declaration ready. Ask the immigration staffers where they want you to go ? some airports (San Francisco) have special ?New Immigrant? lines. Others will have you go through the ?Visitor? line. Some may even have you go through the ?US Citizen/LPR? line, especially if your future spouse flew with you. Note if you're flying from Dublin, that IS your POE as they have pre-clearance there and therefore when you touch down in the US it's as if you flew in on a domestic flight.

  4. You will get taken into Secondary Processing, or at least directed to it. In your case this is nothing to fear ? you're basically being signed in. They'll take your BBE off of you as this gets sent away ready for AOS later on. Your visa will be stamped or written on and you will be told what date you need to be married by. As with all CBP officers, you might get a nice one, or a grumpy one. Can't help that, unfortunately. Note, if you have a connection you want to leave lots of time just in case there's an issue as you will have to recheck your bags and go through security one last time.

  5. If your first stop is your last one, you best be ready to run into the arms of your beloved. If not, get your bags, recheck them and go through the security checkpoint one more time before you go to get that last flight. Next up is marriage and AOS. But think about that a bit later, first off you might have some serious catching up to do!

United KingdomLondon K1. A complete guide.

Interview Day

You should have paid the visa fee in advance so take the confirmation page you printed when you paid online. Take your appointment letter and documents. Bring photocopies of any document that you need back. They look at the original and file the photocopy. Things you might want back: birth certificate, divorce decree, police certificate, letter from employer (use again for AOS maybe). Basically don?t give up your only copy of something.

The American Embassy is located at 24 Grosvenor Square London, W1A 2LQ

This map from Nich-Nick will be helpful http://www.click2map.../Embassy_London because you can move it or zoom in close to see detail or zoom out if needed. The embassy, medical, hotels, and Gould?s Pharmacy are marked, as well as bus stops and tube stations.

The closest tube stations are Marble Arch or Bond Street.

Before going to the Embassy, check your mobile phones, car keys, headphones, thumb drives, and any electronic items at Gould?s Pharmacy at 37 N. Audley St. (marked on the map). They open around 7:20 AM and will keep your items for about £3-5. They can store larger items like luggage, but if you stayed overnight nearby, ask the hotel if they will hold your luggage while you interview.

The interview line forms near the corner of N. Audley Street and Upper Brook Street. They suggest you get in line no earlier than 30 minutes before your appointment, but it is first come first served. Your appointment time is more of a ?suggestion? to stagger arrivals. If you have an 8:00 appointment and don?t get in the door until 8:15, you won?t miss your interview. You will just have a lot more people ahead of you that arrived earlier.

While in line, you will be given plastic bags for putting pocket change, watches, cigarette lighters, etc. in. That is mainly for men. Ladies with handbags can put their watch inside the handbag. At the front of the line, they will check your passport and appointment letter before sending you to the glass security booth. It?s like the airport. Put your things on the conveyor and walk through the metal detector, then collect your things.

The embassy has prepared a YouTube video that shows exactly the process you will encounter on interview day. I think it?s geared toward visitor or student visas with the sample ?questions? you will see, but it?s a good preview of things you will see and do at the embassy. You can see how people dress for their interview. The last part about scheduling and paying for the courier at the counter inside the lobby is no longer done by K1s. You handle that part online when you pay your visa fee.

The ?interview? is like a chat and is not intimidating. The officer of course has read over your file before you walk in so knows a little about you and is just checking that you know something about your fiancé.

So how did you guys meet? What does she do for a living? Does she have kids?

I have written a detailed account of my experience at the Embassy from queuing up in the cold outside to final approval ? this has everything you need to know, from handing your documents over at the first window to what kinds of questions you might get asked at the second window with the Consular Officer.

Again, best of luck. Do NOT panic! We all know this is one of the most important interviews you'll ever have, but we've all done it and come through the other side. Just keep your calm ? the Consular Officers themselves are widely reported to be really nice and the interview is usually more of a conversation than an interrogation. At the end, one of two things will happen. Normally, it's an approval and they will tell you what happens next regarding delivery (or pickup) and give you a leaflet on the AOS process, and give you the opportunity to ask them any questions you have lingering.

However, if you are not approved they will explain why and give you a written paper detailing what is still needed, and most of the time it's something that can be fixed by sending them documents of one kind or another ? and they will explain how to do that. It could be the wrong police certificate, or not having your ?long form? birth certificate. One member got denied because her passport was damaged, but as soon as she had a replacement and had it couriered in, she was approved and is now happily married in the USA. If they call it "denied", don't panic. They give you opportunity to submit whatever is needed for approval.

United KingdomLondon K1. A complete guide.

Application for the Visa/Getting an Interview

London needs 3 things before they will schedule your interview.

  1. Complete online form DS-160. For the photo, you can scan in your US size photo you took before and use that. Otherwise you need to find a white background and take a picture either with a digital camera or with your webcam. Once that's complete, print out the confirmation page at the end and keep it safe, along with your application ID from it.
Tips: Before you start, gather all the information this application is going to ask for?passport number, your work address, trips to US and abroad; fiancé name, address, birth date; your parents? full names, birth dates (and death year)
    FYI:

You do not have a national ID number. Tick "does not apply". You do not have a state or province.
Passport city of issue? London works as an answer.

  2. Schedule and attend a medical. (Details are in previous post.) Take your police certificate, immunization records, and information from your GP if you have any current or previous medical condition. Your results will be couriered to the embassy 3-4 days after the exam, unless the doctor needs something further from you or information from your GP about a health condition. The delay is because they need to get your blood test results back from the lab.

  3. Complete the online Notification of Applicant's Readiness Form when you have in hand all documents you will be taking to the interview. That includes your fiancé?s Affidavit of Support Form I-134 with proof of income. Review the list of documents on the embassy website.
    Tips for the form:

Planned Date of Marriage? Pick something sooner rather than later if you want a soonish interview. It may move you up in the queue over picking a date 7 months away. You don?t have to show proof.

NOTES:

The order for medical and readiness form are interchangeable. If you have all your documents, you can submit the Notification of Applicant's Readiness before you actually attend the medical. The embassy website says:

Please note that you can expect to wait 6 weeks from the date on which you email the forms before being contacted by the Immigrant Visa Unit. We will not respond to status requests during this time.

That means don?t expect to get an interview letter within days of the medical or submission of the readiness form, whichever comes last.

Tips if you don?t like waiting around, or several weeks have passed since your 3 things have gone to the embassy:

Call the Visa Specialist Unit at the Department of State - (202) 485-7600 ? when your ?Case Updated? field on CEAC changes. This means one of two things ? they've either received your online Readiness form, or they've printed and sent your interview date letter. The DOS will be able to tell you when your interview date is, just in case the letter never arrives or is late. It is a good idea to check with them because some have never received their letter.

VanitasMaleUnited Kingdom2014-01-08 11:44:00
United KingdomLondon K1. A complete guide.

What happens after NOA2? The Basics

  1. Your Service center will send your file to the National Visa Center (NVC). You are done with USCIS when they hand off your file to the Department of State (DOS). DOS is over the NVC, as well all embassies.

  2. The NVC is a short pit stop for a K1 case. They assign a new DOS case number and forward your file to London. Your new case number will begin with LND for London. The NVC will mail the petitioner a letter saying the file has been sent to London, as well as telling you the new case number. They aren?t fast about getting out the letters, so your case will likely be in London before you hear from them.
Shortcut for those who can?t wait for their letter: NVC accepts phone calls. You can call and ask if your case has arrived, if it has gone to the embassy, and if they have assigned your LND case number.
NVC: 603-334-0700 Press 1 for English

Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to midnight (EST).
Best time to call is 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM or 10:00 PM to midnight.

You can also find out your case number from DOS.
    DOS: 202-485-7600 Press 1, then 0. 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (EST)

  3. Your case arrives in London. The embassy will send the beneficiary a letter of instruction. It?s not a ?packet?, but just a letter that essentially says ?We have your approved petition from the NVC and we're ready for you to begin submitting your forms and have your medical?. The letter has a link to the embassy website where you will find forms and instructions. The letter will have a very important date at the bottom called your priority date. The same date is found on your NOA2 showing the expiration date of the approved petition. This is your four month time limit ? if you haven't had your interview by this date, London will require a notarized letter from the US petitioner stating they're still happy to get married. The letter is taken by the beneficiary to the interview.
Shortcut for those who can?t wait for their letter: If you have obtained your LND number, you can enter it in the CEAC Visa Status Check site
,. Choose ?immigrant? in the drop down. Include the letters LND with your number. The important thing here is to forget the text at the bottom about scheduling interviews or anything like that ? the Embassy does that for you once you've sent everything in. There are two main statuses at this point:
In Transit ? This one means your case is on its way from the NVC to London.
Ready ? This one means London has your casefile and is waiting to receive something needed to progress your case. You may begin submitting forms and booking the medical.

  4. You now attend the medical and complete your forms (separate topics) before London will assign an interview date. London will not notify you each step of the way. The beneficiary will receive an interview letter from London. The interview will likely be 2-4 weeks from when they send the letter.
Shortcut for those who can?t wait for their letter: DOS will know your interview date once it has been assigned. You may call them and ask the date. It is a good idea to check with them because London has sent out late letters or no letters in the past.

  5. Once you know your interview date, you pay the visa fee online. (Details in a separate post)

United KingdomLondon noa2 to interview timelines?
To be honest, I've read a lot of Nich's replies as someone who's been through this with her partner and her advice has been invaluable. I also know from experience on these boards (and being attacked for having a particular point of view in the Rant thread) that tone isn't always clear from a written post. In other words - I don't think Nich is being disdainful, she's trying to make sure you have all your bases covered like she's advised me to when I first came to these boards.
VanitasMaleUnited Kingdom2013-03-26 15:26:00
United KingdomWhat can i take with me ?

This is from the TSA's site:

Solid food items (not liquids or gels) can be transported in either your carry-on or checked baggage. Liquid or gel food items larger than 3.4 oz are not permitted in carry-on baggage and should be placed in your checked baggage if possible.

All food products should be properly packaged to avoid spilling during the screening process and damaging security equipment and other passengers' belongings. Cakes and pies are permitted as carry-on items, but could require additional screening.

Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. The final decision rests with TSA on whether to allow any items on the plane.

Though something tells me you have to be careful with stuff like fresh fruit and vegetables (Harpah's right - they're a no-go). And you may have to declare all this stuff on your Customs form as well.

United KingdomWhat are/were your wedding plans?

Like Zoe (and many others), I also agree that not planning anything is excellent advice. However, in my case as Amy wanted to make sure everything was nailed down ready for our chosen date of 11th May 2014, we decided to take the risk. If for whatever reason I cannot get the visa in time we have Plan B, which is using all the stuff we have sorted as a non-legal ceremony and then I can actually just do the legal part at the courthouse when I do have the visa in hand. It'll incur extra flights and all, but there you go. That said, we should be okay but nothing is ever guaranteed.

So far, we have the venue booked (Roger Williams Park in RI), Amy has her dress, her bridesmaids have theirs. Invites are my next priority to give my UK family and friends enough time to decide if they want (and can afford to) come over as well as then give Amy's family their invites too. Currently looking at reception venues/restaurants and a cake. After that we'll need to look at the rest of it as well, including the attire for my side of things but that's going to be done US-side closer to the time because it saves courier costs and the like for those coming over for the UK and having a role in the wedding.

So far so good I reckon.

VanitasMaleUnited Kingdom2013-07-15 15:34:00
United KingdomHow the heck did/do you plan a Wedding/Reception/Etc...

Here's our plan. Our original one was modified because my Mother's been diagnosed with blood clots in her neck and all which they're classifying as tumours which means practically none of my family are coming over now.

1) If for whatever reason the visa is approved earlier than we expected, we'll have a civil wedding at the courthouse with just us and some friends/co-workers as witnesses.

2) In May next year, we will hold our ceremony in Roger Williams Park. At this point, again it'll be the two of us and friends.

3) We'll then go on honeymoon.

4) After the honeymoon, we'll head up to Michigan to have a reception with Amy's family.

5) Once I have AP or my GC, we'll head to England for a reception/blessing with my family.

We might cut part 2) out yet, not sure. But we'll see, it depends on the visa at the moment.

Good job reading the embassy website. There's a lot to be found clicking those links they provide. If only everybody would do that.

Mmhmm. Reading comprehension is lacking in some though (ex: someone got their NOA2 today, pasted it on forums and asked "what does this mean?" when it clearly said their I129-F was approved).

United KingdomUS Citizen visiting UK Husband. Will there be problems at the UK Border?

I've had to answer a few questions from time to time but never had any issue or needed to provide the additional supporting documents showing I had a job, mortgage etc. I don't think saying you are visiting friends or anything other than the truth is a bad idea. We each travelled back and forth regularly when we were dating, I visited my husband after we wed and were waiting for his visa and we both go back regularly to see the family. I don't know why you would apply for a visa. It is not necessary. You just need a valid passport and a return ticket. You should be fine. You may be overthinking it. wink.png

And an approved ESTA of course. They'll get stopped at Heathrow (or Gatwick, or wherever else) before they hit the Check-In desk if they don't have that or a valid visa.

United KingdomUS Citizen visiting UK Husband. Will there be problems at the UK Border?

Hi all.

I have a question specifically for the Brits of the group.  I'm a US Citizen and am trying to bring over my husband who is in Scotland.  Since I hear that it's hard for him to visit me, I'm considering going to him and visiting.  However, I've heard that the UKBA is cracking down on non-EU spouses visiting because they think they're gonna stay illegally.  So, my questions are:

1.  Has anyone had this problem?

2.  Would it be better to just say that I'm visiting friends (we were married in the UK but I never applied for a spouse visa so I'm not sure if they'll know that I'm married or not).

3.  If I do say that I'm going to visit my husband, I've got my NOA1 and possibly a letter from my job/pay stubs.  Would this probably be enough to prove my ties to the US?

4.  Should I get a family visitor's visa to visit the UK even though I don't really qualify (I've never overstayed, don't have any convictions, haven't been told I need one, the US is a recognized country, etc.).

Thanks for your help and thoughts.

Becky

1. Not exactly. They tried to catch Amy out in March when she came over (see #2)

2. Amy's done that the past two times she's visited - in March they asked "Do you mean your boyfriend", but she responded in the negative.

3. Yes. The letter from your job certainly. I personally wouldn't trust UKBA with the NOA1 but again it proves that he's going to you and not the other way around.

4. Nope. If you don't need one because you're "clean" as it were, then don't get one.

United KingdomImmunisation records lost

Hi everyone,

we are pulling together all the documentation for our interview. My doctor's surgery has informed me that my immunisation history has been lost and I now have no proof of what immunisations I have had previously. Will I need to have all the childhood immunisations again or will I just need the relevant jabs for adults?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated,

Thank you!

See if they will do your shots again at your GP's surgery rather than paying out the wazoo for them at Knightsbridge. And remind them that the NHS lost them, not you and therefore it would be nice if they could do it on the house or at a reduced rate.

United KingdomInterview on October 23rd!!! Possibly a silly question, but...

I guess it depends on taste and why you're going. I'd expect students to go in hoodie, jeans and trainers. Businessmen (or the rich) going in with suits.

Me personally? I'll go in a nice black shirt+tie, black jeans and proper shoes. Smart/Casual, as the others have said.

United KingdomHow have your family and friends reacted to your plans ?

In my case it's very much a case of two separate worlds. My friends are all raring for me to go, they're all interested on where I am in the visa process, how Amy is doing with all of it and very supportive.

My family, on the other hand is a different story. It is like they are actively trying to resist my plan to emigrate and actually, you know, follow my own path and be my own person, and be happy for once. I mean it's like every time I update my Mum when we got through USCIS, and now that we have our case number she breaks down and I start questioning whether I've made the right call or not. I wish they would understand that this is what I want, I want that chance to be happy, to be worth something. Despite trying to assure them all time and time again that it will all be alright and even if it all goes wrong we've got a backup plan.. it just doesn't seem to get through.

United KingdomA couple of quick questions

Reminds me of the time I got stopped at security at.. I think it was Providence actually. My seatbelt extender was in my carry-on (of course) and one of the TSA officers yelled. "WHOSE BAG IS THIS!?". I put my hand up a little and just said it was mine, came forward and was told to keep my hands where he could see them as he searched my bag. When he found the "offending" article he sent it through the X-Ray to be scanned separately. For some reason they seemed to think it was an offensive weapon...

United KingdomA couple of quick questions

Just wanted to ask a couple of questions - when me and my fiance enter the US on my K1, is he allowed to wait and go through in my line with me? (My fiance is the US citizen). He wanted to wait and come through with me while they sort my paperwork out and to help answer any questions, as he's worried if they need him for anything then he won't know what to do.

Also, a question about CBP - I have a pack of teeth whitening gels as I had mine whitened back in June, and I need 'em to keep it topped up for a couple of years. They're in a bag that shows it's whitening and they look a bit like syringes but with no needle on the end, and they say "white dental beauty" on the side of each one. I've seen some people say online they've been fine with tooth whitening product, but I'm just a bit concerned about going through the US border with something containing peroxide in containers that resemble syringes.

He would be allowed to go through the line with you, alternatively you might be allowed to go through the US Citizen line as you have a US Citizen with you and all. Some of the POE reviews have done this with no issue. I also don't think there will be an issue with him coming into Secondary with you to do the paperwork but if you get an arsey CBP officer they might tell him not to speak unless spoken to. Best bet is to read the POE reviews for where you're flying to and see what's what.

On the topic of the gels - it shouldn't be an issue because it seems from what you're saying they're marked up properly. But if you want complete peace of mind you might want to get a letter from the Dentist/Dental Hygienist saying what they are and what they're for.

United KingdomNo DS-260?

Just confirming that now London only wants DS-160 and is not requiring DS-260 anymore?  Thanks!

Correctamundo. They want your DS-160 confirmation page sent in with your DS-2001 now. Take another copy with you on your interview day as well to show to the people at the gate along with your interview appointment letter.

United KingdomFirst Letter from the London Embassy

Priority Date will be your NOA2 date (when you were approved by USCIS). Our date is Sept 19th - so 4 months on from that is Jan 19th.

United KingdomDs160 and new procedures?

Good catch that man!

So, on our trusty friend http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html it does indeed say the following:

The document checklist Form DS-2001 is no longer in use. Once you are in possession of all of the documents required in support of your visa application, you are required to notify the Immigrant Visa Unit by email. Read more.....

And that link leads to the online form where you fill out the same stuff that used to be on DS-2001. So to answer your first question - Complete the online version. I am also thinking at this point they do not want you to send in your DS-160 confirmation page anymore but you must instead take it with you just like all the other stuff you usually do.

As for requesting an expedited interview on those grounds, I think you'd have two options:

1) You can email the embassy on this page: http://london.usemba...ntact_form.html

2) Or you can mail in a request to the address on the first link I gave you at the top of this post.

(It should also be noted that others have called in to do this kind of thing but you often find people on the other end don't know what a K Visa is and are generally unhelpful unless they pass you to someone who CAN help.)
