went to download the police form today and it says

"ACRO are introducing a new version of the Police Certificate application form on 6th August 2012 in support of a revised pricing structure. The application form will be available to download via the links below, and hard copies will be available on request from the Customer Services team at ACRO.

As a result of this change, ACRO will only be able to accept the new version of the application form (Version 18 August 2012) from 31st August 2012. After this time, all previous versions will be rejected and ACRO will require a new form to be submitted before an application can be processed."

I won't be having my interview until September...does this mean I need a new certificate.

No, it's the application form that is changing, not the certificate.
Looks like the prices are changing though, sure to be going up right, get it in now

eta - replies just like buses

Been following the DHL tracker thing - they tried to deliver the packet (presumably) containing my file to London Embassy today... and it was closed! July 4th! Doh :bonk:

At least they didn't leave it behind the wheely bins or lob it over the fence

Hey no harm done, no need to apologise. I just got worried you might end up like me and have to reprint the forms three or four times

Oh I still had to re-print them, I thought they looked untidy hand-written.
So much neater now they are typed.
Not that there wasn't lots of time to re-do them right?

I just checked the DS-230 form again, mine are questions 32 and 33 for the employment and education information

Are we filling in the same forms here?

I was reading from the DS-230 example form on VJ. That's a lesson learned !!

My apologies for any unintentional confusion I may have caused you or anyone else reading that post.

The answers I gave you are still applicable to the questions you asked though.

A couple more questions !

DS-230 Question 33:

I know it says list all education institutions, but the form seems to be geared more to College and University. I don't get a diploma from my A levels of GCSE so do they really want this?

Also question 35:
This has been touched on in a previous post in this thread but some of my visits were back before you needed a visa or the visa waiver program. Should I simply leave the type of visa field as blank? Or put not required?

I'm assuming you made a typo with the question numbers, on my form they are Q23 and Q25

Q23 - For the school section I put 'O-levels' in the course of study section and "none" in the diploma/degree section

FYI for the young-uns out there, 'O-levels' were replaced by GCSE's.

Q25 - back before you needed a visa or the visa waiver program?? when was this??

The form itself says, "Give type of visa status, if known" If you don't know it put "unknown"

Don't sweat the small stuff, really.

The DOS number I called on friday was (202)663-1225, press 1 then 0 to speak to someone. I asked them if London had logged my case and gave them my case number. They open from 8.30am (1.30pm English time)

That's the one
No security questions when I have called, just asked "is that Stuart?" lol

The nice DOS lady (Sarah) I spoke to today recommended NOT sending forms in before Pkt 3 letter is received.
At this rate they will have the medical results, from last Thursday, before that happens.
This will not be a problem though

The Subject Access thing was a question mark for us too...his trouble was 27 years ago. The representative from ACRO gave him the info over the phone (his convictions and dates), telling him that he only needed that. :P

Will be looking out for your interview review, good luck

Had an interesting chat on the phone with an "analyst" at ACRO today.

I had a query about the Subject Access request, she asked for my Police Certificate number and told me to hold the line.
According to her it would come back with exactly the same as the police certificate, "no trace" and not to bother with it and save myself a tenner.
Explained to me that certain convictions prior to 1996 are "unrecorded" on the PNC and as far as the Police are concerned effectively never occurred. My DD conviction in 1984 is not recorded, hence "no trace"

That led me to mention to her Q38 on the DS-156, "Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action?"
Naturally I got the "I can't advise you whether to answer yes or no but if it were me..." speech.

Answering yes will clearly raise a question at interview when presenting a "no trace" certificate, they are well aware there are instances of unrecorded arrests/convictions prior to 1996 at the USEM according to ACRO, a verbal explanation will suffice.
Answering no is one for the conscience it seems.

I am in no way advising anyone in similar circumstances what to do here.

Hey everyone, just filling out the DS-156 now - need your help!

Q29. Have you ever been in the US? When (most recent)- did you guys put the date you entered or the date you left? And when it says enter additional visits to the US here how did you format that? i have a whole spreadsheet of visits that i used as supplemental to ds230(used to work for an airline... over 50 trips to US in my lifetime...) - shall i put the dates i entered and left in a big list, e.g:

Nov 2011-Feb 2012
April 2011-May 2011
Jan 2011
November 2010
Etc.

Any advice? Feeling stupid!

Kate, you might have already done it as this reply is 12hrs later but -
I put date entered and duration, same as on the VJ example forms.
The additional visits box on the DS-156 Q29 expands as you enter the data.

Hey Kitty, I think that form is due to expire at the end of this month. Might be worth holding off until July 1st unless they accept old versions? (They never seem to change anything but the date)

Expires 6/30/2014

my police certificate said "no trace" but because i was declaring on one of the forms that i had a conviction for something, i wanted to cover all bases and show that i had done all i could do to obtain a record of it. my subject access came back clear as well though.

Thanks

Dan, what came back on your police certificate to make you ask for a subject access ?

Mine came back with no trace, was with a 28 yr old dd conviction though.
