K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow do I get my to be 24 year old daugter to the usa

Due process for what? Being placed on a watch list, or obtaining PII from the ISP?

I'm not saying that applies in this case, but it got darn close to the line, especially if someone granted his request.

Is there a reward?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is really annoying....
Processing times were 5 months when we started this, figured then that anything faster than that was a bonus.

Maybe we Brits are just better at queuing

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinancial Cost of K1 ...

Well, its all part of the process (which for the most part works). Imagine the rise in fraud and terrorism if you filed the petition for $25 and the next thing they did was to mail the visa to the beneficiary! :)

Not to take away from the validity of your point but several countries do just that including the UK...

For the UK that's incorrect and/or illinformed. £810 approx $1300 for Fiance visa

UK fees

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresabsolute divorce decree
In England, decree nisi is no evidence or proof that a marriage is/has been dissolved and that either party is free to remarry. It does not end the marriage and is a provisional decree only.

A decree absolute is the legal document that ends your marriage. Once you have a decree absolute, you are divorced, no longer married and free to marry again if you wish.

Although you are a bit negative and condescending, I thank you for your insight.

Agreed. With my game face on, diplomatic in demeanor and speech, but firmly requesting to speak to the head honcho.

No way in hell would I have paid for a return ticket.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDecember & January Filers

Yes. There is no reason why this should ever take more than 5 months. 5 months should be the absolute longest it should ever require to approve these especially for people that have a very simple petition without any complications. I'll probably start getting things lined up for my Congressman or Senator if I don't have approval in the next 2 weeks. I saw a couple December petitions got left behind at VSC. Always seems like a couple people get neglected when you look a the timelines... Terrible for them. It's very disappointing.

There are still 8 out of 51 "left-behind" (whatever that means) at initial review from November 22nd, yes unfortunately including mine :bonk:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresservice request response

So I made a service request last Wednesday (5/23/12).
I called the NCSC number after not hearing anything from VSC
regarding my RFE (it has been a month at the time since they received my RFE).
I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask and expected an answer of "wait full 60 days then call".
The customer service rep was very nice and helpful and did a
service request for me since I been waiting for 6 months overall since USCIS received my I129F.
Also gave me a reference number and told me to call again if I don't hear anything for 15 days.
It has been 9 days so far and have not heard anything from VSC. I'm just bit worried
because I noticed others receiving service request response within a week.
Should I expect service request response by next week?

The process is taking it's toll on me and my fiancee...
It has become quite the emotional stress...

This is what we did -

25th Apr Our 5 months was up.
10th May Called and raised service request, told to wait 15 days and call back. (got no confirmation or response at all)
25th May Called back, told to email vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov wait 21 days for reply then to email SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov then wait further 10 days before calling on the phone again.
30th May case status checked, changed to PDA

I'm not sure if calling made any difference or not, there is no way to tell.
I would say get dialling after the 15th day.
Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespriority date?

When you check your case status on USCIS.gov, or on the NOA1, it says "On xx/xx/2012 we received this....."

That's your priority date. Your official NOA1 date!

Not according to this it isn't....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do now :(?

As frustrating as it will be, I would say no. The USCIS considers normal processing time to be six months. (The normal is 5 months but because that's an average they don't do anything until 30 days after)

I really wish people would stop saying this because it's NOT TRUE. :bonk:
Stu4LeeMaleEngland2012-06-18 10:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F How we met question

Actually your advice is wrong. The 'how did you meet' CLEARLY means how did you come to know each other, under what circumstances were you introduced to each other. Think about it. The next question asks about your meeting in person! Why would they ask you the same question twice.

Met = Introduction in this case. So you would simply say 'we met on website _____' or 'I was traveling in Thailand and she was working in restaurant there'.

The NEXT question is where you describe your meeting in person!

I mean, honestly, if you answered both questions with the SAME ANSWER, then clearly you're misunderstanding one of the question. Why would they ask two questions expecting the same answer?

You're wrong. That's all there is to it.

Oh dear, if only that were the case.

It's actually spot on advice

Same as a bank draft here in the UK, guaranteed funds, better than a check for the payee anyway.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRound trip ticket for arrival to US?

I'm just worried that someone at customs, either in Colombia or in the US is going to ask her why she has a round trip ticket when she is flying to the USA to get married on a Fiancee visa. Now I'm worried that this is going to cause a problem, because it specifically says in the K-1 guidelines that you cannot leave the USA for 8 months after being married. I reminded my fiancee of this, and now she's stressed about it too and wondering if she should cancel the return flight (the return flight i told her NOT to get in the first place!) But then if she DOES cancel the return flight, is she going to have to pay some huge exit tax fee that I'm unaware of? Ugh. It seems like she keeps getting advice from people in Colombia and it's the wrong advice. Or maybe I'm the one who is confused here. Can someone give me some advice on all this?

Bottom line is if she has a round trip ticket will this cause her problems at customs at either exit or entry?

Where specifically does it say this?
You can leave whenever you like, it's returning that may be a problem.
You MUST remain in the US until you have filed AOS (which you do after you are legally married in the US) and have either received AP (advanced parole) or the GC. If you leave before you have either of those documents you abandon the AOS process and must apply for another visa to return.

Single or return ticket makes no difference, no problem, no need to cancel, your choice entirely.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFacebook CHats
I have done this for approx 45,000 messages, you have several options -

1.
Download your entire FB account data, the trouble is you get every message in chronological order to every person, not to an individual, unless you delete all other messages before you do the download. Even then the formatting is dreadful for printing and needs an awful lot of editing.

2.
Forward messages to email, downside is "every" single message has to be selected to forward, there is no "forward all" option

3.
Copy and paste into, for example, word to print. Only downside, if you can call it that, is you only get a date but not a timestamp. Simplest and quickest option in my opinion.

4.
Screenshots, take forever and can only see a small number at any one time.

I personally copied and pasted all the messages from my fiance into word then printed, also took 1 or 2 screenshots per month to show date and timestamps.
The best option for you will depend on exactly how many messages you are looking to print.

Good luck

The K-1 guides on VJ suggest adding a supplementary sheet for this question.
We used one or two sentences at most, similar to StraightShooter above, with no extra sheet.
As far as we were concerned, the size of the box on the form was a good indicator of what they wanted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow can a K-1 misrepresentation denial be overturned?

Stu I have seen posts where the CO pulled up BOTH peoples facebook and asked who these friends were or what this post was.

I have also heard that a CO questioned a married man about his chats with other women during the first 2 years of him and his wifes (she was just a girlfriend when he was chatting and writing others) 5 year relationship. He knew their names. He then called the wife in the USA and asked her if she knew who these women were. She knew thank God. Cause the couple was honest wih each other. But if he would have hidden those relationaships from his wife, i am sure they would have been denied.

Have NO doubts. They can dig up anything they want

At the interview??
I'm not going to chance asking the CO to bring up my FB page instead of passing my evidence under the glass tho

I have no doubt they can dig all they like, I want them to find "what they want" in order to approve us

I visited for 16 days just a matter of weeks before we got NOA2. It was just what we both needed as VSC had come to a virtual standstill and the waiting had become tiresome.

Was only asked how long I was staying, nothing else.

USCIS Service CentersVSC on a coffee break..for the week

Some people on the message board have figured out a way to search by case number, not a VJ user's timeline. If I understand their efforts correctly, they have taken the EAC numbers they're given, put them into a spreadsheet and manually typed them in on the USCIS website to obtain 500+ numbers of people who have submitted I129Fs. If you type all of those in manually and see that none are approved and they're all from the service center, it's more accurate.

Yes it's more accurate but....
Approx 1800 receipts were received in Jan 2012, it was 1809 it's now showing as 1784.
The 500+ you mention were noted as being all I-129F receipts between the 3rd and the 20th.
That means the other approx 1300 receipts were in only 13 days in the month.
Seems highly unlikely, even allowing for daily variances in numbers, don't you think?
Just a theory

In any case there is a huge difference between processing in order and approving in order, neither of which happen.
