K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanging adress

Hi, I hope this helps. I am not doing the K1 visa, I am doing the IR-1/CR-1 visa, but I think it would be the same. I was informed that the beneficiary will receive a phone call from the embassy instructing them to come pick up the packet at the Embassy. They do not like to send things by Costa Rican mail.
See "San Jose Consulate information" link on the Costa Rica portal page for their phone number. Call and ask the embassy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanging adress
Hello everyone, I need some help here. Our NOA2 was approved on April 26th (of course we are super happy  ) As much as I know I'll get a package from the U.S. Embassy with forms and a check-list to get the right documentation for the interview. I'm working from 7am to 6pm so I'm not at home and I'm concerned that I'll receive that package in my home address. I would like to change that address so I can get the package at work. Here is my question :help: How can I change the address??

I called the U.S. embassy in my country and they said USCIS should make that change, but my fiance called USCIS and they said it has to be the embassy ... I'm sorry If I panic a lot but I think my package can get lost or someone can steal it or it can get super wet now that it is raining daily in Costa Rica.

Any suggestion??

Good look in your journey and hugs from Costa Rica.

Hello dear VJ's I'm a little confused here and you all help me a lot, thanks a lot in advance
Yesterday I went to the embassy to pick the documents up. for K-1 Visa interview. They gave me a check list and they said once you have the affidavit from your fiance call us, well I will go on my medical test next week and my fiancé is travelling to the interview so he will take the affidavit himself. Should I call the embassy as soon as possible?? sorry if my question is a little dumb but I don't know what to do in this case.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNOA2 Questions for other Costa Rican filers
Hello everyone!

We are gathering all our paperwork (medical exams, hojas de delinquencia, etc) for our interview, and I have a couple of questions for people who have filed in Costa Rica and are a bit farther along in this process than we are...

1. They directed us to the embassy's website for the DS-156 form, where it appears in Spanish. Also, the entire packet arrived in only Spanish. I am assuming this means that we don't have to have spanish documents translated into English. Am I correct?

2. To call for the appointement we don't need to buy a PIN in Banco Nacional, right?

3. What is the interview like? Is it in an office or is it through a plexiglass window like the tourist visa interview?

4. Were there any problems/snags that you hit in the process? Advice specific to Costa Rica?

Thanks so much!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDomicile in US vs. Work info out of country
In filling out the G-325, I am confused about the potential of presenting conflicting information (another address question for you folks).

I currently work and live in Costa Rica, but do not have residence here.

If I put on my form my US address, they will see that it conflicts with my work address.

If I put my Costa Rican address, then I do not establish domicile in the US.

1. What should I do?
2. What exactly is domicile?

Thanks-
Delaney

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few address questions
Okay, so if I understand everyone correctly:

1. My address should be in the US to establish domicile.
2. His address should be something that the consulate could use to mail my fiance information.

I was thinking that it might be best to attach on a separate sheet his physical address in English and Spanish (500 meters south of the factory), but leave on the I-129F form the PO Box because it is guaranteed that anything mailed would arrive. Door to door mail simply doesn't work here, we are in a very rural area.

Which leads me to another question: should the G-325A reflect the same information? It asks for residence for the last five years. Do they use that for mailing purposes? If so, I should list his present address as the PO Box. If not, I can put his physical address (in English, and then translated on a separate sheet in Spanish).

Do you think I have it right?

I appreciate all of your responses,
Delaney

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few address questions
Hi, I am new to this forum and have just begun filling out the I-129F form and the G-325A form for Packet 1. I have a question about addresses on them.

1. I live in Costa Rica with my fiance. My home address is not my mailing address (we don't get house to house service here, only P.O. Boxes). Which address do I put in Part A on the I-129F? I considered putting my parent's US address because their mail is much more reliable, but then I thought it would look like we are living apart, which isn't true.

2. Language: Obviously our addresses here are in Spanish. Is that okay? We don't have street names or house numbers, only things like ¨500 meters south of the factory¨etc., but in Spanish. Are they okay with that? What do I do if they don't fit in the alloted spaces?

I might have more questions, but these are the main ones at the moment.

Thanks for any help you can give.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotarizing I-134 from foreign country
Thanks for your responses...

Silly question, but does the co-sponsor simply fill out the I-134 as well, or is there a different set of forms?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotarizing I-134 from foreign country
Hello everyone, first I would like to say thank you to everyone who responds to questions here. My fiance and I would never have been able to get as far as we have without these forums.

We live together in Costa Rica and just received notice that our second packet is waiting for pickup at the embassy.

I need to work on the I-134 and have a few questions.

1. Should I find a US lawyer here in Costa Rica to notarize it, or should I notarize it at the embassy somehow?

2. My earnings here in Costa Rica meet the threshold poverty level for the US, as do my earnings last year that were half in the US and half in Costa Rica. I am afraid that the person who is interviewing us will consider my current earnings "invalid" since they not in the US. What do you all think about this? Should I be worried?

3. Do you have any other tips/suggestions on the I-134? I have no assets whatsoever, but work as a teacher and have years of records of solid earnings, from 2000-2003. From 2004-2006 my earnings were lower than poverty level because I was here in Costa Rica working for less. Like I mentioned above, my 2007 and 2008 earnings are above the poverty level. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCosta Rica Police Certificate Question

I suggest you get all the documents ready for NVC. All documents need to be original and certified at the Casa Amarillo you can obtain all the documents at the Registro then go to Casa Amarillo for certification. The PCC only takes a day so you can get that later. If there are any children involved let me know as this takes on a whole new perspective at the consulate and other documents are needed. Let me know if I can help.

Hola gente!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Criminal Record Report -- Costa Rica
QUOTE (AinsleyandHanzel @ Mar 17 2009, 09:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband's case will be processed in Costa Rica, but we are putting everything together right now for the DS-230 and I am so confused on what we need to do for his criminal record report. We got his criminal record report from Los Tribunales and then took it to be translated. Then we went to La Casa Amarilla to get it authenticated and they put a bunch of stamps on it... someone told us that we have to take it to the consulate now, and we don't know if they meant the Consulate of Costa Rica or of the US??? Do we really have to take it there, or is it ready to be sent to the NVC?? I would appreciate ANY help on this because we are going to be in San Jose tomorrow in order to finish up everything!!! good.gif

Hola amigos! Como les fue en la entrevista? Yo estoy en este proceso tambien, excepto que es para K1. Yo hice todo igual a como lo describes, pero para mi entrevista ire sola, creen que seria mejor ir los dos?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe A number and tha NOA2

the A number is issued with the approval of the I-129f. From now on, that is his A number. It was OK to leave it blank before you had it.

what documents are you preparing? If they are for something that will occur after the issuance of the A number, then YES you should include it.

I'm working on the adjustment of status right now, he's here in the states and we're getting married in a week so I want to have everything all ready. Thanks for making me feel better!!!!!

The A number is the number beginning with an A on the NOA2.

Thanks!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe A number and tha NOA2
Hey Everyone,
I am preparing the paperwork for my fiance was leaving blank all of the spaces where is asks for his A number. I was okay with this based on what has been written on Visajourney before, however, when I was looking over the Approval notice for the I-129f I saw that above his name there is in fact an "A" number and it seems to be in the same format that the forms autofill. I went back and added the number thinking that it must be his "A" number, but now I'm not so sure. Any thought? I'm wondering if I should re-do everything and take it off or should I just leave it and assume that it is in fact his number.

Thanks, feeling a bit nervous!!!!
