Moving over to April thread. Hoping for a case complete this week!

Just something to make you all laugh...

This whole process is getting to be so much that last night I had a dream that we got a checklist from NVC. The checklist was because we didn't include how long my husband's steps are when he walks. NVC wanted his walking stride measured in feet and inches.

I woke up laughing.....

Today is the morning of the second and we are already on page 14? Reading all the pages, it seems like watching The View.

I am hoping to find out that the NVC received my case already I don't know when to expect the case number though.

...but SO much more entertaining... and productive... than The View!

So I just got an email from NVC, responding to my DS-3032 email... but the email said "To continue processing your immigrant visa case, you will need to designate an agent by completing form DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent)..."

Since that was my 2nd DS-3032 email, I was DISTRESSED! I called and Beau the agent responded. Beau told me "Ma'am, I don't know why they sent you that email, because we have your petitioner listed as your agent."
Me: "Really? Are you sure? So you have my petitioner designated as my agent?"
Beau: "Yes ma'am."
Me: "So all I'm waiting on now is for you guys to invoice me for the IV application?"
Beau: "Yes ma'am... you're good!"
Me: "Thank you SO much! 'Cuz you KNOW I'd be emailing this thing a 3rd time, right
Beau: (laughing) "Yes ma'am, but you're good to go."

Yay! Of course, I didn't know what to do first: call hubby, report here on this forum, or update my timeline! After I stopped jumping up and down I called the hubby.

Happy Sunday to you too! Just got home from church....found out that Friday's going to be busy! My worship team is on Friday AND Sunday...and the Good Friday service ends just at the same time I need to go pick up Travis from the airport. Hooray! :D What instruments do you play?

Yup, Easter is a busy time for church musicians and singers!

I sing primarily, and play keyboard (a bit). Hubby plays keyboards, bass, cornet...

Oops, just saw that Saylin had already answered your question, an so much better than I! Oops.Posted Image

Hi JNEKG! Re your 1st question, just keep calling the NVC every day or as often as you can. They will keep giving you the standard line until someone sees that your case # has been assigned. We got our case # about 2 days after we were told to call back in 10 days.

Re your 2nd question: the IV fee of $404 actually is $330 for the application, and a $74 security fee (or something like that). Check it out on the NVC website here: Fees for Visa Services

Blessings!

Very cool... :D

Really cool... My husband and I are both Christians and musicians as well, and involved in worship ministry... he's at church right now and I'm watching the live broadcast (when I'm not here posting lol) because I'm here in JA having to miss church. #HappySunday!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2012

Hi everyone,

I am now part of this group. Waiting for my paperwork to be received at NVC so they can issue a case number. I called NVC one week after my NOA2 but got the standard line of call back in 20 business days. I am sure he didn't look on the system. This prompts my question, what do you say when you call the NVC to chase your case number? As soon as the operator heard I had an NOA2 date on 22nd March he didn't bother entering my reciept number into the system.

Also, Laure thanks for posting about the change in fees but I cannot work out what that $330 USD fee is for. I thought I had two fees left to pay, AOS fee of $88 and IV fee of $404. Can you shed some light?

Thanks

You should get DS-3032 acceptance sometime early next week. Then IV bill will be invoiced shortly afterwards. You should be able to mail out your IV package by next Friday, getting a CC the week after, so you should be done with NVC by April 13, if no checklists.

Thanks Saylin! That's what I'm hoping for. Like others have said, Petitioner and I have never before been so eager to pay a bill! Posted Image

Hi IslandLady :star:

What Magical said is true!

But most of us obsess anyway   :D

When you create an account on the USCIS website and add your case number you can then log in and check the status of your case. There is a field for "Last Updated" and when that date changes it means your file was "touched" in some way. A "touch" does not necessarily mean anything significant. People have had their case "touched" and still wait months for the status to change. Others have been approved and never touched.

From the USCIS website:

Hi JAPrincess!

Yup, I was logging in all the time and checking my "Last Updated" date and seeing NO change and having my heart sink in despair, despite the fact that I'm WELL within the timeline. So I'm forgetting about the "touches" big-time and trying to focus on preparing for the net step!

Take the word touch out of your vocabulary and you will be much happier. It is a figment of imagination that every time something happens you will see an update on the USCIS website--it just ain't so, so forget about it and you will be less stressed and much happier.

Thanks!!! You just reduced my obsessiveness by 95%!!! Now I can be cool!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLingChe Shortcut

Hello all. My wife recently got her I-130 petition approved and am trying to get everything ready for the next phase. Is the LingChe Shortcut still 100% up to date? I have heard great things about it, and I intend to follow it word for word, but is there anything that might have changed since 2008, when it was written? Or is it still currently correct and valid and a good resource for us to use? I just don't want to make any mistakes in the NVC process  Thanks in advance for any input

Hi! Congrats on the approval. The LingChe shortcut still works but there have been a few changes in the process.

  • There is no longer an Automated Voice Response (AVR) system at the NVC. So on Mon-Fri you'll get an operator, and on weekends - Sat-Sun - you won't be able to get any information.
  • You don't need to generate a bar code and mail your DS-3032 Choice of Agent Form. Instead, as soon as you get your Case # and Invoice #, just go ahead and email the DS-3032 using the template linked here.
  • When you've paid your AOS and IV application invoices and the online status shows paid, you can print the barcode cover sheet from the portal to send in with those applications. No need to generate a barcode.
Visit this thread and read the first 2 posts - they'll help you get through NVC: NVC Filers - April 2012

All the best!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion - national visa center process
How long is she going to be visiting with you after you're married? The USCIS takes an average of 5 months to approve a petition. She'll probably be given 6 months in the USA when she arrives on a B1/B2, but it's usually not advised to stay that long.

The NVC stage is really all about collecting and verifying documents before sending them on to the consulate. It doesn't matter WHERE she fills out the forms. However you want them to have the most up-to-date information possible. There'll be a lot of time for her to fill out the Immigrant Visa Application form and sign it, to have it sent in to the NVC. Her Choice of Agent designation can be sent via email. If there is some sort of express mail/courier service available to her in Jordan, then she can send you the hardcopy documents for the NVC once the petition has been approved by the USCIS.

I hope I understood your question correctly :)

Just in case you haven't seen this, here's an easy guide here on VJ: http://www.visajourn...p/EZGuideSpouse. Very helpful.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRE: Getting the packet ready to mail out

I really need some help. I need to know what is the best way to assemble my CR1 ORIGINAL packet. When reading the Tips it states the following:

Exception: Petitions filed at the Chicago lockbox should use paperclips when attaching supporting personal documents to forms instead of "ACCO" fasteners; staples are acceptable when attaching fees.

Can someone help guide me as to how to put the packet togather?

Thanks :)...

Nattie Dread..

I think you mean the I-130 packet. Here's what we did, after reading the guides here on VisaJourney:
  • We paper clipped the supporting documents together (in the same order as we outlined in our cover letter)
  • We stapled the pages of the I-130 form together
  • We stapled the check on top of the I-130 form
Then we used a jumbo paper clip to assemble the whole thing in this order (from top to bottom of the stack):

  • G-1145 Form (E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance)
  • Cover letter
  • I-130 form
  • Supporting Documents
Please note that the G--1145 and cover letter are optional.

Hope that helps!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling while in process of CR -1

I met my fiance in the USA for the first time, he came here on a tourist visa an lives in Jamaica ,we plan to get marry some time next year, question is when we marry an start the process for the CR -1 visa will he still be able to visit me in the USA? thanks In Advance.

I had a B1/B2 visa when my husband and I got married in the USA. I was able to travel back and forth between Jamaica and the USA the whole time that the CR1 was in process, and I never encountered any problems whatsoever. As long as his B1/B2 is current and he has a good travel record - meaning that he's never overstayed in the USA - he really shouldn't have an issue.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresco-sponsor

I received a call today from the U.S. EMBASSY informing us that we need a Co-sponsor, so my question is; can i take the Co-sponsor I-864 forms and supporting documents on the day of the interview? which is schedule month,or do i need to sent them in to the embassy befor the interview date?

You could do what I did when I was told I needed a co-sponsor: get the co-sponsor paperwork, scan it, and attach it to an email which you will send to the embassy. Make sure to reference your case number in the subject line of the email eg: 2nd Inquiry Case Number Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial (Co-Sponsor Documents Attached)

In the body of the email explain that you have the co-sponsor documents as requested in the telephone call you received from the embassy, and that you will be taking the original documents with you to the interview. Send the email to KingstonIVAppointment@state.gov.

Then be sure to take the docs with you to your embassy appointment and submit them during the document intake process before the interview.

Wishing you ALL the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230 question

Hello All,

DS 230 has part 1 and part 2. Does my fiance have to mail both parts to the consulate or just part 1?

Also the latest form from NVC site has an expiration date of 03/31/2012. How long do they normally take to update the site with the new form? or can i use the expired form?

Pls advise

Hi. Yes, both parts of the DS-230 should be mailed in. Be sure to sign Part 1, and be sure NOT TO SIGN Part 2.

As for the expiration dates on the forms, here's a link to an answer to that question: Expiration Date. I think you just need to make sure that you have the most up-to-date form available from the NVC website.

Blessings!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresforms info needed

ok great thanks...i had ordered my tax transcripts last month and he had an email i made for him a long time ago. Babygurl, do u think i shoul fill out the affidavite of support and the ds-3032 now?

You COULD start filling out the Affidavit of Support form, but it's a little bit early. Definitely make sure you know where your pay stubs are, so that you'll have them on hand if you're submitting one or more as evidence. Also if you decide that you want to include a letter of employment, you could prepare to get that done in a little while.

I don't think that the DS-3032 isn't urgent at this stage: your husband can email that to the NVC as soon as they've assigned their case number to your file. The template for doing that is here: DS-3032 Email Template.

Start working on the additional evidence he'll carry to the interview - pictures, call logs, etc. Just take your time and get this done, and you'll be in good shape by the time you get NOA2 and your case hits NVC.

All the best!

Hi Truelove85,

I can understand how you can get frustrated due to the long process. However, Administrative processing seem to be affecting everyone as we speak. Unfortunately, its not only Jamaica. I do pray that you hear something soon about your case. On the D.O.S. website it states that it can take up to 60days because some files needs further reviewing. I too am in Administrative processing for a reaffirmed petition and I have emailed and gotten the same generic response. All we can do is wait and pray.

I wish you blessing and pray you hear something soon.
