CaribbeanAm i the only one missing Air Jamaica's flights

So having to travel to and from Jamaica on numerous occasion, I realize that tickets are not as reasonable anymore. Spirit no longer flies to Kingston and the only two are currently JetBlue and Caribbean Airlines. Gone are the days when I could take my children home for x-mas for less than $1000 in plane tickets if you buy early. Now, it seems like you still don't get a break, no matter how early you book. Lawd have mercy pon us Jamaicans who still have love ones that we need to visit. I always say, I am only an hour and a half away from Kingston, why we can't tek a boat go dere and be done and over wid it.

Just my rants and rave. Personal opinion

CaribbeanMarrying a Jamaican

In general, there are both good and bad people all over the world. People tend to stereotype about practically every and anything. If you have found yourself a decent man/woman, hold on to him/her.  No relationship is perfect, with love, hard work and dedication, you will make it. People get taken advantage of everyday all day. And sad to say, it's not just a Jamaican thing. If you go into a relationship with doubts then it will be manifested.

CaribbeanGetting to the interview in Kingston

I believe that your best option is to stay over night at a hotel. I am not sure what anyone else experience was but when I went to the embassy with my spouse on Oct 25, I was informed that I had to wait across the street as there was no waiting area designated for individuals without interview. They also do not allow the spouse inside unless the your presence is requested. You also do not need to inform the guard as to the type of visa being applied for as it will not make a difference to them.

Best of luck on your upcoming interview.

Mexico, Latin & South Americareceived green card, now she shows some "new" colors

cainBrain: I?d agree, and please forgive my stereotyping a whole country of people, that Colombians love to stay out late, party, dance, and have a good time.  That said, if you think that she is using that fact to go out and cheat on you in the dance club you are severely under estimating her intelligence.  To the contrary, it appears that she is actively seeking your involvement in her going out and dancing by inviting you to stay as long as you want.  You have several options but my advice would be if you really are insecure about her dancing with other men you should start by telling her that.  You could also consider taking dance lessons to not only improve your skills but to show her you care about her culture.  And with respect to the 12:00 am vs. 2:00 am, I would say suck it up and stay the extra two hours.  I would be much more concerned with my wife driving home late alone or with her drunk friends.

I also wanted to add that in my experience dancing salsa, which is limited mind you, my Paisa is always willing to go the extra mile to teach me.  She loves the fact that I am with her and trying my best.  And I really only see Colombian women dancing with men; case in point, in two trips to Medellin, both times I was the only male in a group consisting of my fiancée, myself, and her family and friends.  Well, I had to take turns dancing with all of them because they would all sit patiently waiting for their turn.  Talk about being a tired old man?try having two left feet and dancing salsa for 8 hours 3 nights in a row!

Is 3 days enough time? I figured a day or two for the medical, the interview day, and then waiting a couple days to pick up the package from DHL.

Diana,

You are right!!  I emailed the US embassy in Bogota and they replied that forms DS-156, DS-156k and DS-230 were replaced by online form DS-160 !!  No need to filed those forms anymore.  But, in any case I will complete them just to be safe!!  You never know..

This is what they wrote to me:

Estimado Solicitante,

Gracias por comunicarse con la unidad de visas de inmigrante. En atención a su comunicado, nos permitimos informarle que el formulario DS-160 reemplazo el DS-156, DS-156K y DS-230.

My fiancé has been sick in the hospital and we had to extend our appointment until February which will be past our 4 month period.  Does anyone have a contact number or e-mail for extending the NOA2?  I just need about a month's extension.

Thanks in advance

Another update, I received the letter from DOS stating that my case was shipped; they recieved it the following week as Diana thought would be the case.  I kept calling because my fiancee had not recieved her packet 3/4 by mail (not that it matters for filling out the paperwork since that's done, but you need it to schedule the interview).  I finally got through to someone yesterday and she told me that our e-mail was to be send out next week! :)

Here's the info that is most pertinent once your case is in Bogota and you want to find out how long until you recieve packet 3/4 ...

Call +57 1 275 4900; the line is only answered M-F from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST.  It's probably just one person working because each time I call I speak to the same lady; she's biligingual so that's no concern.  But just know that you may have to call 10-20 times in that hour before you get to speak to someone.

Good luck to all!  Can't wait to set up our interview!

Brett

Also, is the packet 3/4 emailed to me or to my fiancee? The visajourney page says they use email because the mail system is poor in Colombia. Is this still the case? Thanks in advance!

LOL... sure thing!

It takes about 2-3 business days for your case to arrive at the US embassy. So contact them via email (IVBogota@state.gov) and ask them if they received it, give them your names and your BGT#. If they say yes, they should send you a copy of the visa instructions package and all you have to do is follow those instructions. But, since you're a VJ member and on top of your game, you will download the instructions (Packet 4) from their website and be a step ahead of them. Their website also has instructions in Spanish.

You need to make sure you have all the documents they ask for before scheduling an appointment. If you have them ready, you can pay and schedule the appointment online, you can also choose the DHL location where you will pick up your visa or pay for delivery. After you do this, make an appointment with one of the approved doctors and get all the lab work done before the medical.

The vaccines needed are MMR, TD, varicella (if the patient hasn't had it) and influenza. That's it, no more vaccines are needed. Some doctors will accept vaccination records that the patient got as a child, but most don't because they make extra cash if they ask for new ones. If you want, you can call their office to find out what they charge for each of the vaccines I mentioned before, also, call your EPS or local Red Cross to find out what they charge as well and compare prices. If you see it's cheaper to get them somewhere else, get them no more than 2 weeks before the medical or the doctor may say you need to get "new" vaccines. I know it sounds fishy but they do it all the time to make more money.

Here's the link for the website where you can pay and make your appointment, as well as choose a DHL office: https://usvisa-info....country_welcome

Hi Diana, thank you for the reply.  I am curious about the "BGT" number.  I have not recieved this yet...will it come by e-mail or regular mail and will it be mailed to me or to my fiancee (in Colombia)?

Thanks,

Brett

Hello everyone,

On 10/10 I received an e-mail from USCIS for my NOA2.  On 10/16 I received an e-mail from USCIS saying they shipped my case to the Department of State for processing.  Can anyone fill me in on the next steps (ahem, Diana).  Thanks, Brett
