K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDoes anyone know exactly what is inside the sealed envelop?

Hello all VJers! Are there any VJers that have Chinese fiances that have already entered through US customs port of entry? If so, I'd like to know what is inside that sealed envelop. Also, the customs officer does give it back to her after they're finished, right? I read one post where the customs officer hands her an I-94. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks!

Clint

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe used Dr. Tong but he did not give her the 8 week boosters!

I just spoke with Dr. Tong. He's been doing visas for many many years and he said that the boosters are required to acquire certain jobs, college admittance and such, but are NOT required for AOS. He seemed very adamant about it, so I think I'll just leave it alone for now. Anyway, I wanted to pass that information on to you in case someone else has a similar question.smile.png

Hmm, I get a flu shot every year and have never had a problem. I guess it just depends on each individual.

Will do on the timeline update! Thanks again!

not strange.  that's how flu shots 'work'.  last one i had, i was out for 2 days. and I'm a gweilo.

ps - please to update yer timeline, la.

Haha! That's ok. I have found your input on almost anything here on VJ is worth a lot! Your advise here too!

By the way, within an hour after her flu shot she began to feel "uncomfortable", as she put it. Within about 3 or 4 hours, she began to run a fever. It rose to 102.6 before it began to go back down. By the end of the day, it was back to normal. Very strange.

i can't say.

i wish i had the answer on that one, sorry.

However, submitting a complete medical pack, IMO, negates most silliness and fear, yes?

Apologies - my knowledge on medical stuff for K-1 is really abysmal, almost non-existent.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe used Dr. Tong but he did not give her the 8 week boosters!

yes, I can do that. So, are you telling me that if we submitted the AOS package to the USCIS without record of the boosters, it would get denied?

you've a sealed medical packet that you can't break open.

so a shot transcription is what i'm thinking of.

however - since the Dr is the one who messed up, forget everything I've said,

and

go back to the doctor and handle the extra shot, bringing the sealed envelope.

The doctor will break the seal, do some more paperwork, and make a new envelope with a new seal.

I'm not sure what you mean by getting it "transcribed onto something". It's already in English, so what needs transcribing? Do you mean transferring the information to some government form like the I-693? Thanks again!

she should be able to get the booster anywhere, but

getting it transcribed onto something may be the problem, at this point.

IMO - just get it done, get the transcription,

then write a cover letter about it,

and paperclip both to the sealed medical packet.

My wife got a 2nd international shot record done in Guangzhou, when she got her shots,

so at least we have a shot record not to be bound up in a sealed packet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe used Dr. Tong but he did not give her the 8 week boosters!

Darnell,

We found Dr. Kai-Ming Tong, M.D.F.R.C.C. on VJ and he was one of the recommended doctors. We was very nice and seemed to know his stuff. However, he did not give my fiance the 8 week boosters for MMR, Varicella and Td. He gave her the influenza shot though. He verified the original MMR, Varicella and Td vaccinations done in China (transferred them from the DS-3025 to the I-693), put the I-693 into an envelope and sealed it according to USCIS procedure. But now I'm worried that not getting her 8 week boosters will become a problem for her when we file her I-485. Do you (or anyone here on VJ) have any words of wisdom for us?

Thanks so much for your help!   --- Clint & Hong

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOne K1 visa case number, TWO statuses. What's up with that???

Well, we were "Issued" as of last night. Yay!!!! However, the passport status still says "at post", so, to be proactive, I decided to call UsTravelDocs to tell them my concern that this second status might prevent her visa from being delivered. Someone at the embassy might think there's another visa waiting to be issued for our case and plans to deliver them both at the same time. But the second status will NEVER be "Issued" because there is no actual second visa request on this application. So, this could potentially hold up the delivery indefinitely. So, she said they will create a case (request) to have the second status removed completely.

Thank you so much. Let us know once your visa is issued. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOne K1 visa case number, TWO statuses. What's up with that???

Well, it looks like we figured out why we both have two statuses! Now I can stop worrying about that second status hindering the first one from going "Issued" in a couple of days. Regarding her son, I seriously doubt he will change his mind and say he wants to come to America before he reaches 21. Yes, then it will be too late for him to come. Good luck with your "visa journey"! Keep reading posts on VJ. Most of the good info I get is from here. I plan to post a lot of details soon that will help everyone who are about to go to their interview. :)

yes you are right. I too indicated my daughter would come. However she has now got a place in uni to do chemical engineering so will not be taking up a K2 visa again. I was planning to file for her once I got my permanent green card in a few years. Is that how you guys were going to do things too. I am looking at the age thing cos once they reach 21 they are no longer considered children.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOne K1 visa case number, TWO statuses. What's up with that???

Ah. My fiance also has a child. A son who just turned 18. When we originally filed the I-129f last October, there was a small possibility he might "follow" her to America at a later date, so I think we indicated this on that form back then. They called her around May 15th to ask her for clarification on whether he was actually going to follow or not. She told them her son had changed his mind, because he now had a girlfriend that he would never leave behind. Both our statuses were originally created on May 15th, so I'm thinking that is why they created a second status. It's the only thing that makes sense. Is it possible you also indicated a similar possibility of your child "follow"ing you to America? If so, that further indicates my explanation could be right.

I am the beneficiary. I have two kids one is already a American citizen born so does not require a visa. The other one will be staying here in London to go university. So only me thats what I didn't understand about the two status. It's Labor Day tomorrow so I guess you could call them on Tuesday to find out what it means.

Thanks. How many applicants are associated with your case? Just your fiance? Or does she have a child coming to?

We currently have the same thing as yours on the CEAC website. Status 01 and 02. Both cases created on the 16tth and deemed ready for interview on the 28t August. I have not bothered to contact them since it may be a error on their part. Anyway I am still waiting for interview date.

Thanks Darnell! Is the DoS hotline at this number? .....202-663-1225 (after Sept 6th 2PM eastern: (202) 485-7600)

I found it here:  http://travel.state....w/how_1463.html

I think was data error by a human at GUZ IV.

OR the  data point mapping between CEAC and some other internal system is mapped incorrectly.

For clarity (sorry) please to contact DoS Hotline and ask for status when they are open.  Sure, I know it's infuriating, but they have actual status.  When I talk about CEAC with DoS TeleOperators - most of the older staff tell me they loathe that system, as they get lots of phone calls about erroneous status.

-----

of course, if /when it makes it out of GUZ IV, the ustraveldocs website will have more info about passport delivery.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOne K1 visa case number, TWO statuses. What's up with that???

It seems we'll be "Issued" status very soon, but there's a problem that may not be a problem at all, but could be terrible. The visa status tracker website (https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx) shows my fiance's case number has two statuses! "01" and "02". What's up with that? She has no one coming with her, just herself, but two statuses exist. The first one "01", went "Ready" the other night and then went A.P., NONIMMIGRANT VISA. Based on the experience of other applicants on VJ and QQ groups, the next step is "Issued" in about 2 or 3 business days. That's great news but I worry about the existence of the second status that still says the same thing since both statuses were created on May 15th, Before the other night, both statuses said A.P., IMMIGRANT VISA. Now one status seems to indicate the visa will be "Issued" very soon, but the other is still showing A.P., dead waiting status. I'm hoping this was just a clerical error and that I should ignore the second status. Should I be concerned about this?

Thanks for your knowledgeable help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSon wants to join mother

Yes, we will pay the visa fee regardless of how we register him on ustraveldocs.com. We communicated with him and he will pay this on Monday, China time. I tried using the feedback portal at ustraveldocs.com to ask them about registration, but I'm not getting timely responses. Time is running short, so we need to push forward. I will call a real human at ustraveldocs.com and ask them directly.

Thanks, Darnell! I don't know what we all would do without all your help. You're a real jewel!

i think we need to find a K-1/K-2 member that did both at the same time -

as they can tell us what they did for CGI/Stanley stuff.

As I've been trying to point out - if you pay the VISA fee - you can do other stuff with getting the appointment scheduled.   If you not pay the VISA fee - then you are stalled until you do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSon wants to join mother

Things are moving along now. We have the email from Guangzhou embassey telling us we can pay the visa fee and schedule an appointment. But I suddenly feel confused about something.

Since we are requesting the K2 visa for her son, should we list her son's information on the "PASSPORT DETAILS" page of the CGI Stanley website? The case number is the same as her K1 visa issued last September and the passport information is still showing her information. Should we change it to show her son's passport details? Or should we create a completely new profile for him along with a separate visa process and case #? I don't want to pay the visa fee only to find out we needed a separate profile registration and process. Thank you!

sure - I'll comment -

if'n GUZ IV has given you instructions via email, on what to do, you should follow them, nowish.

Nice. Hey, I just found some information that is scaring us to death, because we did not list her son on the K1 documents as "follow to join"! Can you comment on this for us?

If the U.S. Citizen and K-1 Parent Marry after the Child Turns 18 ? If the U.S. Citizen and K-1 parent do not marry until after the K-2 child turns 18 and the U.S. citizen did not petition for an immigration petition, then the K-2 child will not be able to file for an adjustment of status. The K-2 child will have to return their home country and wait for the K-1 parent to obtain permanent resident status, and then the parent can apply for an immigration petition to bring the child to the United States. - See more at: http://www.hooyou.co...h.d7VpISt2.dpuf

no - it's my understanding that K-2 visa chasers interview solely in Guangzhou.

I sent GUZ the email and they replied with all the information I need except for one thing. Even though the K1 interview can only occur in Guangzhou, can her K2 son interview in another city closer to his home? Shenyang would be perfect. Thanks!

iirc, those are not used any more - and it's the ds-160 that is used for K-1 visas, K-2 visas.   I dunno anymore on this one sticky bit - things have changed since ustraveldocs.com/cn got involved.

for clarity, sling out an email via the guangzhou IV webform thingie, stating:

1.  K1 GUZ Casefile # and

2.  bio data on the K1 visa holder and

3.  bio data on the K-2 applicant and

4.  your biodata and

5.  request a K-2 interview and ask what steps you need to do to start the process at Guangzhou IV and /or ustraveldocs.com/cn

Great! Do I send the original D-156 and D-157 that we submitted, or do we fill out new ones specifically for her son?

before ustraveldocs.com/cn got involved - this was dead easy - just send out the DS-156 and DS-157 to GUZ IV with a letter that the K-2 is ready for interview.

NOW? Follow what I've written, morph it a bit to suit yer purposes, and hurry.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSon wants to join mother

Hi Darnell,

My wife and I have a very similar problem with her son (my stepson). When she applied for her K1 visa, her son did not want to come to America, but has since changed his mind. Her K1 visa was issued on 9/2/2013. Though we listed him as being her son on all her K1 application paperwork, we did not list him as "follow to join". Also, he turned 18 last July, 3 months before we married, so he's not elligible for CSPA protection. What do we need to do to "jump start" his K2? Time is running out for us! Thanks for your help!

yup - you can jumpstart this , this weekend:

1.  pay another visa fee at citic bank, get new receipt #

2.  email GUZ IV via their webform thingie, tell them you want to redo the K-2, giving over the GUZ #.

they SHOULD clear the flag at ustraveldocs.com/cn within a week, then you'll be able to set up the account again there, then note the receipt #, then self-schedule for another visa interview.

caveats:

1.  medical exam must have been within 6 months of future interview date or he needs a new one

2.  police clearance certificate has a 1 year validity on it from issue date - so if it's expired, need a new one.

what you need to do is not trivial, but is do-able, contacting GUZ IV and telling them you want a do-over on the K-2 .  I think they'll play along, grant this stuff easily, if it's less than 11 months from the visa issuance date on Mom to the new interview date on the son.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

[ps - it may be you can set up a totally new account at ustraveldocs.com/cn and put in the new receipt # there, after paying at CITIC.  If that's the case, you'll save 4 to 6 weeks of administrative kerfluffle at GUZ IV]

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCertified Police Report(s) required by Guangzhou US Consulate

My fiancee (beneficiary) is currently living in Shenyang and has for several years. Her hometown is Hulan near Harbin. This is where she will obtain her certified police report of "no criminal record". Even though she will present her certified police report she obtained from Harbin, will the interviewer ask her for her Shenyang police report too? She believes and has been told that she only needs one police report, the one nearest her home town, because all the police centers in China are linked to the same criminal record computer system. Is this true? If not, will they require a separate police report for every China city she has lived in?

Thanks for your help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConsulate fee vs Visa fee

FYI, on March 16th, they changed the process. They no longer choose an interview date for you. I'm not sure how they used to receive the visa fee, but now they require it to be paid before the interview date can be scheduled. the petitioner and beneficiary must use their website and step through several steps to schedule the interview. They send an email notification announcing they are ready for you to do this and provide the link and instructions. it's seems fairly straight forward until you get to the payment of the visa fee. this fee can only be paid within China. In other words, the fiance must pay it on her end, by either using a special "Union Pay" debit card or going directly to the China CITIC bank. My finance does not have this kind of debit card, so when she tried to pay online, it was refused with this message...

??????????????

????????????????????(5700000)

?????????? ????
? ??????

which translates into...
Sorry, you did not order payment success!

Failure Reason: The bank card is not opened CUP online payment services (5700000)

Bank debit card to be first in the Personal Internet Banking
Or bank branches

CUP = "China Union Pay"

This evening (morning, her time), she's going to her bank for help. Hopefully we can get this taken care of this evening. I want to get her interview scheduled well before the Guangzhou US Consulate closes on July 15th. They're moving into a new building complex and won't reopen until July 24th,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould K2 child create separate profile than K1 Mom on ustraveldocs.com?

Interesting. We used this process last July to pay the visa fee for my finance (now my wife). At the time, her son was not interested in coming to America, so we did not fill out anything on a "Step 6" screen. I don't even remember seeing a "Step 6" screen (but that doesn't mean there wasn't one). Only recently has he changed his mind, so we have until Sept 2, 2014 to get his visa approved, so we've now attempted to use the same profile, her profile, to accomplish this. We navigated down the K2 path only to find all her information that we entered last June (2013) still there. The passport number field was grayed out and not editable. It still contained her passport number and we could not change it. Based on what you've shown me, since we have already paid her visa fee, we can't add her son to her profile. There is no "Step 6" screen for us. When we click the "Continue" button on the "Step 5" screen, it goes directly to the fee payment screen, skipping "Step 6".

Question, if you back out of each information screen and navigate into each path, K1 and then K2, can you still see both passport numbers and information? In other words, when you choose K1 path, it then shows the K1 passport number and details, and when you choose K2 path, it then shows the K2 passport number and details? If so, then I'd say you're onto something. Now when you navigate to the visa fee page for each path, naturally it will show the visa fee for only one family member. This is because you are looking specifically at the K1 fee OR the K2 fee. I'd venture to say that if you pay the visa fee for the K1, enter the receipt number provided by the bank, schedule an appointment, then navigate back to the K2 path, you will not see any evidence that you paid the fee and scheduled an appointment. This would prove that the K2 path is a separate visa fee and schedule required, even though it is technically the same profile. Unfortunately, in our case, we no longer have that option, but I think you do. If you see still the details for both passports, it seems logical that all you need to do is pay both visa fees and schedule both appointments (on the same day), using the separate K1 and K2 paths on the profile. I'd be interested in knowing if that works for you. :)

Since we could not add her son's passport number to her profile, we created a separate profile for him, paid the visa fee and scheduled his appointment for July 10th. So far, that seems to working fine for us. The same case number is on his DS-160 application, so that links them together on the same K1/K2 case. I think we'll be fine, though I think the CGI Stanley (ustraveldocs.com) website is very confusing at times.

Good luck! And let me know what you see, ok? :)

Notice the previous screen shows the K2 family member and associated fee. The following screen shows the K1 family member and associated fee.

339hg1v.jpg

Now, for the life of me I have no idea whether I've entered the K1 and K2 correctly, but it seems as though this is how it works.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould K2 child create separate profile than K1 Mom on ustraveldocs.com?

Hi Darnell,

Thanks for all your advice. Since we weren't getting any straight answers from ustraveldocs.com, we decided to push forward by creating a new profile for her son (my stepson). So far, that seems to be working just fine. We paid the visa fee and scheduled his visa appointment for July 10th. The appointment confirmation page contains all his profile information that we entered, so that worked out. My main concern was whether or not his case would be linked to his mother's K1 visa case on the site. But I see now that it doesn;t work that way. The DS-160 is how they are linked together on the same visa case number, so my concerns are satisfied.

Now we just need to follow all the K visa instructions. I used the "email thingy" on the Guangzhou embassy website to ask them if we really need to send another G-134 (affidavit of Support) and evidence of relationship documents. I would think those things are only needed for the primary applicant's K1 visa. What do you think? Anyway, we'll see what they say. :)

Thanks again!

paying the visa fee is not tied to 1 or 2 accounts at CGI/Stanley.

If I were in your shoes - I'd pay the fee then suss out that stuff by trial and error [using the english language version of that portal].

Sorry your having problem with the helpdesk (since it was my question to you in the first place) but keep at it ! Call until you get an answer !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould K2 child create separate profile than K1 Mom on ustraveldocs.com?

Calling all K1/K2 visa recipients that have already received both their K1 and K2 visas and maybe have arrived in America! On the CGI Stanley website (ustraveldocs.com), we created a profile for my wife (K1 visa recipient) last year, scheduled an appointment etc. She subsequently received her visa. Now, her son wants to come to America, so we are requesting the K2 visa for him. Should we create a separate profile on ustraveldocs.com for her son or should we change the "PASSPORT DETAILS" page of his mother's profile (which we used last year to schedule her appointment) to show the K2 son's information? The case number is the same as the K1 visa issued last September and the passport information is still showing the K1 mother's information. Should we change it to show her son's passport details? Or should we create a completely new profile for him along with a separate visa process? I don't want to pay the visa fee only to find out we needed a separate profile registration and process.

We tried contacting ustraveldocs.com using both their email system and their phone contact numbers, but they will not give me a straight answer! The email attempts are currently in "round robin" mode. They keep asking for more information and then ignoring my answers, asking for the same information again. I called them this morning....twice. The first time, after nearly an hour on the phone, they "accidentally" dropped the call. I called back and the second person asked all kinds of irrelavent questions only to finally say "we've escalated your request to the next level. They will contact you." It's a simple question!!!! Surely, they've had other K1/K2 applicants! What did they do? Did they create separate profiles? Or use the same profile?

If anyone here can tell us what they did to SUCCESSFULLY schedule an interview for their K2 child who followed them to America, we would be very grateful!

Thanks to anyone who is able to guide us!

We used apps in iphone to make calls too. What i did is i screenshot the call history. We used viber and line app btw. So i screenshot all the calls and messages then print it.

I wish I would of thought of that a long time ago, ha!  Well, I'll start taking screenshots of our facetime history from now until the interview.  How much of a problem do you think it'll be to not have a solid phone record history that starts from when we started talking?  I will have printouts of texts from whatsapp/viber/imessage that covers our entire relationship.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPreparation for interview, phone records etc...

I'm getting worried about the phone record part as showing proof of on-going relationship.  The majority of our conversations happen using facetime on our iphones, which uses wi-fi and subsequently my bill detail does not track.  The bill detail does show data transfer amount but no phone number associated with it.  Anyone else run into this problem?  Any suggestions on how to provide proof?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCEAC Ready but says don't have case

Yes I was referring to the CEAC website status saying Ready for the interview

READY for what????????????/

R u talking about interview or after interview its ready? please clear this one

if u want to ask for an interview then u must wait at least 4 weeks after NVC left ur case.

Thank you for this info!  We'll def check back in a few days

Your file is delivered electronically and also via hard copy which is going in a diplomatic pouch. until they also receive the hard copy they won't be able to do anything even though CEAC website says ready. I would wait a few more days

Our status on CEAC website says ready but when my fiancée emailed the embassy they told her they haven't received our case. Anyone know why this happens?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F approved per Tier 2 IO conversation

Talked to another T2 IO today and he said our approval was "ordered" on the 18th...whatever the f*** that means!  Totally annoyed with this, I asked if it's normal to take this long and of course he said yes...He said we "should" receive NOA 2 this month...
