The plot thickens because the embassy package made no mention of this document, so they might issue a K-3 for the boy without it. This may not do much for us in the long term, however; even if the boy makes it through Kazakhstan departure Passport Control without the document, it is unlikely that we could later proceed with AOS without it. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	How will beneficiary change of status from permanent resident to Citizen affect K1	Hi, My fiance sent in her k1 packet 3 recently. A few days later she got the call/letter to appear for her Canadian Citizenship ceremony. So we are excited about that but I am a little concerned. How does this affect our K1 process with the Montreal Consulate? For Packet 3 and I129-F we used her Permanent Resident Card and Peruvian Passport- which is still valid and will be for the interview. Canada	K-1 Canadian Consulate	Yes but it's a $400 flight. I used to fly, now I take the Greyhound bus from Penn Station to downtown Toronto. The bus is $100 round trip. Takes forever but I've had so many delays in and out of NY airports I don't care. In the end a door to door plane trip for me is about 6-10 hours. A door to door bus trip is about 14 hours and a quarter of the price. The train is a $200 round trip and takes even longer but would be more comfortable, and safer. I've driven it twice. About 8 hours driving for me from Connecticut. Total trip is about 10 hours on a good day. Costs more in gas and tolls than the bus and puts tons of miles on your car. Canada	Montreal is driving me crazy!!	DOS should be able to tell you if Packet 3 was approved by the consulate. Did they tell you it was not received yet? It took them about 10 days to receive ours- and just to let you know Montreal appears to be blocking appointments, to my knowledge I haven't heard of anyone making an appointment with them since last Tuesday or Wednesday. Canada	wait time for visa after interview at montreal consulate	So Montreal finally mailed my fiance's passport. Almost one month after the interview. I put in a Congressional in on Monday and I'm thinking it's a good think otherwise it might still be sitting there at the Consulate. So for me I'm looking at the 28th or so. Hopefully. By the way my fiance is a Canadian Citizen now I sent the consulate an email and scan of her citizenship card. Canada	Montreal Process Recap	I'll never forget the day I found out that our case would go to Montreal, and then I called them and the outgoing message there says that "Just because NVC says we have your case, that doesn't mean anything. It may take up to 5 months for us to receive and begin working on your case." Nice thoughtful message they have right? Of course it only takes a few weeks to get the first letter usually. Canada	k1-ers waiting for Montreal	Well DOS Visa Services tells me that my fiance's visa was printed a week ago. They are going to put in a request to see why it has not been sent yet. I think it is because the Consulate switched from the passport we registered with CSC site and instead used her brand new Canadian passport. Now maybe they don't see that as registered. They told us not to change anything on the CSC site though. I emailed the consulate as well. This is so very frustrating. At least I dont have to worry about AP or anything so now I'm just getting impatient as I know how hard it can be to contact Montreal. We had some trouble with the website at first, but after I tried it the second time it showed the 2nd and 18th as open dates. 2nd was too soon for us. She hasn't had her medical yet and is still waiting for the vaccine test results. I received the Appointment Confirmation in the mail. I wonder why the 18th opened up like that? Canada	k1-ers waiting for Montreal	The consulate mailed us Packet 3 on March 8th. We still have not received it. We sent in Packet 3 on the12th, it was delivered on the 16th. They still have not logged it. So 2 months from NOA2 and still no interview date- and Montreal is a 4 month wait for interview. So we're looking at a year for this whole process. Unreal. Maybe DOS should equip the Toronto Consulate to handle K1's too. Why they don't is beyond me. This should all be done electronically and the visa should be given at the interview. Now we are just waiting to see that they got our packet 3 so we can schedule our interview on the above site. I might be missing someting but it seems that either person could sign in here and set it up and schedule. Canada	k1-ers waiting for Montreal	I was told by the consulate through email that my Packet 3 was not sent. They are waiting for the proof of status that we sent last week through DHL. So I attached it in an email and begged them to use that. So far their response time through email has been great. I'm praying they will use the email attachment. It would help speed this up. They should just have sent packet 3 and asked for proof of status to be included in the packet, no? Instead they prolong the process by doing it this backwards way. I don't get it. Canada	k1-ers waiting for Montreal	Hi, I'm in the same boat as many of you here. My case was approved Jan26th. Forwared to Montreal on the 31st. Received on the 8th electronically. Received on the 23rd physically. I know they have looked at it because they asked for my fiancee's proof of residence which we sent through DHL. DOS Visa services tells me Packet 3 was sent on February 1. Whether or not this is correct, we never got it. So we are preparing the forms and are about ready to send them in. Where is packet 3? No idea. The consulate has been answering my emails, one was even answered the same day! I almost fell over. Now I need to ask them about this next. Canada	Montreal - No appointments?	My fiancee became eligible for appointment on April 8th. Just a couple of days after Montreal stopped taking appointments. We were very upset. I would try many times a day but a week later some appointments opened up for a few hours, and that's been about it. So I consider us extremely lucky to get an appointment for May. Canada	Waiting for our passports from Montreal	Well I finally got the DHL email last night. I thought we would never get it. Almost a full month after the interview. 18 business days. They printed it 14 business days ago according to DOS. I put in a Congressional on Monday and they got right on it. I don't know what the hold up was except I know that the Consulate in Montreal is extremely backed up right now.
