Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	Name on Conditional Green Card vs Permanent Green Card	I am about to file to remove the conditions on residence and want to have my married name on my Green Card. My original 2 year Green Card contains my maiden name and I am wondering how I can change this. My concern is that all my documents are listed under my new married name. Only my foreign passport and conditional green card bear my maiden name. On the I-751 form should I use my new married name under the first box which is for the family name (aka last name)? Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	Evidence Required - Letter from friends / family	Hi, I was going to submit one letter from my sister and the other from my friend to show as evidence of our relationship. Reading on here it looks like most people include their social security number and get it notarized. I called USCIS and they said that this is not required, just as long as they sign to it. I have a lot of evidence to support or relationship and we are having a baby.. I just hate to be a pain to my friends / family, do I need to get it notarized from you guys point of view? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	APRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers	It's been a while since I have written in here... I am now going through the process of applyiing for my fiance's AOS - we are getting married Valentine's day - and his visa runs up on Feb 19th - but we are hoping to have it sent in before then, preparing everything ahead of time.. I have come up w/ my own checklist, can anyone take a look and let me know if you think I am missing anything 1 - Criminal History - he got this when we applied for the K-1 - so I will use that but get it translated as it was in spanish - can the one from Chile be a copy? 2 - Police Clearance - assuming I will have to go the local police department and have them give us something? 3 - Medical Exam - we will again use what was done for the K-1 visa - but is there add'l shots that are needed? I looked at all the forms but they all look to say that we just need the vacination sheet that was used for the K-1 4 Affadivat of Support 5. Copy of the approval letter (??) - I didn't receive an approval letter for his K-1 visa, and everything he had he gave at JFK.. 6 - Photos 7 - Passport copy w/ visa stamp, I-94, 8 - Marriage license 9 - G-325A 10 - Birth Certificate - can we just give a copy of this or does it need to be an original plus we will give the official translated version 11 - Should we send this all to the lockbox? Also - he had the stamp from JFK for work authorization, does anyone know if there is any speedy way to get this approval as it expires on Feb 19th and he is currently working.... I am seriously stalking the DHL website and since the 8th it keeps saying "En espera de retiro por destinatario como solicitado." Assuming that just means we have to wait more... They said between 5 - 10 days, but as he lives in Santiago, I thought he would have gotten it sooner, and I sure would have thought they would have shipped it already............... waiting again, gosh, I can't wait until he is here! I Emailed them and they finally Emailed me back and told me he could go and pick up the packet himself from the Embassy (which he did), it wasn't for about another week later that he received the actual packet in the mail (he lives in Santiago so I really don't understand the delay). But Felipe and I are often talking about "what if", what if he doesn't get a visa. Which often then sparks an argument, just because our life in Chile together would be very very difficult. I think our main worry of him not getting it is because of his two previous attempts to get a tourist visa after we met and he got denied - after his second denial I applied for the fiance visa (the tourist visa was a lot easier to apply for). Also, I worry about every little thing and want to be mentally prepared just in case.... Just wondering if anyone else has any of the similiar issues and how you get yourself through them... It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this. And similiar people are going through similiar situations. I know this is really bad, but when people say mean things I can't help but then second guess my whole relationship. I know I should have a brick wall up, but it just makes me think (OMG can they be right). This goes away, and I couldn't imagine not having him in my life. I couldn't imagine being on the other end of the stick, and having to leave everything behind to move to somewhere that I knew no one (except of course for my fiance), didn't speak the language, and knowing that everyone was giving him grief about me. I was out with some friends last night, and one of my friends husband made the oh so famous comment, "He is only after the green card." Which I am quite used to, but then he threw in the line, "I don't want to be the one to tell you I told you so, after the fact." (it's actually strange I hear this more from men then women) Nice right!! Of course, then it led to me freaking out, and him apologizing, but it makes me feel like then everyone thinks that. Errrrr.. I know when I then call him and tell him (I can't help it), he feels really bad about the whole thing. I just can't wait until this whole process is over and he is actually here with me and everyone can see us together, and even if someone does make that comment to me, at least I have him to turn to. I'm sure most of you have been through similiar situations, it just erks me, and makes me want to stay home in my little bubble and not say anything to anyone (because it could be that as soon as I turn my back that is what most people are saying). I have a feelng this week they will approve the rest of the April applications! Question about Affidavit of Support, I am filing in the form, will get it notarized, get a letter from my employer, get a letter from the bank, bring a few bank statements, bring my last few pay stubs, and I have my 2006 & 2007 tax returns. Do I need to have my 2005 tax return? I didn't see in any of the directions that I would need to provide any tax returns. If he gets the visa, then that will be his last day - I am going to pray every day that October 1st brings good news!!! So I'm hoping he will in America by October 17th..
