You should pick the amount under 125% of poverty line that matches your household. It is straighforward and this must be your threshold.

I-864P latest is for 2009 guidelines. Wait for 2010, it may be little higher.

I don't have a problem making those, but, if you read the wording on the instructions for, it states you must meet 125% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINES , then you start questioning, hmmmm did I do that right? I do a google search for federal poverty guidelines and come up with numbers for 2008, which were about the same numbers as those in I-864P. Geez........ when I went to school, and I won't mention how many years ago, the word OF meant X, and if the guidelines are "y" dollars, then 125% of poverty would mean Y x 125%....

Now, I have probably a stupid question......

The tables listed on I-864P, are they the actual poverty levels, and you must make 125% more than those poverty levels? or is the number listed on I-864P the magic number you must at least make anually corresponding to the number of "household size" as what you currently have plus what you will be sponsoring?

I am self employed too, satelite contractor. i too use turbotax to do my taxes each year, so i understand what your going through.

You will use your AGI ajusted gross income. it should be listed on the summary sheet on turbo tax (the first page that prints)

as for the credits i know how easy it is to keep digging and diggin till you owe nothing! but this does not help your situation. i planned 2 years in advance prior to my fiancee coming to usa,. i basically made my AGI what i needed it to be and what the goverment required it to be. sure i paid a few dollars in.

I dont know if maybe you can ammend your taxes, or maybe you should postpone till feb of next year. then plan accordingly!

AGI is what they want to see on the I-864. The sad part is, we are self employed, we work just as hard and in my case, harder and longer then most people.... and the benefits ???? thats another topic. Try using some Assets to obtain the magic number.

I plan on going to my husband's interview in Lima. I know my husband can handle the interview on his own, but I want to be there to support him. You said you are freaking out about the process think how he will feel when the people in the embassy are grilling him. Just knowing you are outside waiting for him will give him more confidence and will look better to the embassy.

I also do not have any paid time off, but for me the cost is well worth it, because I will be there to help my husband with his embassy, to help celebrate our visa, help him pack, see his family, etc.

Ultimately it is your decision though. Good Luck

Just wondering if there have been any approvals lately by the VSC. I have not noticed any which is strange since you figure they would speed things up. They cant really be working on citizenship applications anymore since its too late to register for the elections. I am not sure though. Just curious.

I am also a May filer. This process is so frustrating especially when those who filed at CSC are getting interviews already. This is insane and very disappointed because we have no clue on when we might get approved. I have nothing against those who have gotten approved but why not make it consistent. I have also served in the military, and is this how you treat veterans? Very disappointed at the whole system!

Should I inqure about the status?

I filed the I-130 on 5/15 with NOA1 of 5/21. I was recently transferred to the CSC (November 6). The latest processing times say that CSC is at 6 months. I currently fall outside the 6 month time period, should I contact them or give it some more time? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I am also a CSC transfer who has not been approved yet. I called USCIS a week ago and told them about my case being outside the processing timeline (6months @ CSC). They told me I need to wait 60 days from the date of transfer (Nov. 6), so by January 5th. Hopefully we will all be approved by the time the 60 day hits or we shoud all call and inquire about our cases. Hope this helps.

I just found out i got approveddd. So excited!!!

I have a question for AOS. I recently stopped working because I am switching full time for the MBA degree. Can I complete the AOS based on assets alone or will I need to show continuous income? (70K in assets)

Another issue is the timing of the AOS because it will be the end of the year/beginning of 2009, will i need to wait until the 2008 tax return is filed?

Please help!!!
