He found a job, I am looking at his passport right now.. What does the temporary stamp look like? I see the stamp on the I-94. On the I-94 it says Department of Homeland Security - Customs Admitted on Nov 21 - K1... Is there something more??

The little box just doesn't give enough space for all this. Best add an attachment.

Yes, the USCIS is very clever when it comes to form design. They have room for approximately thirty characters for the city of birth, but not enough room to type in 'Turkmenistan.' If I type in 'Turkmenist,' which is all that will fit, they will probably think that my fiancee is some sort of Turkman activist.

Correct, I was referring to question 11 but thinking about question 18. (A mind which cannot multi-task is a terrible thing to waste.) I have no idea how to get the information from the NOA1 out of them, either. Perhaps someone will show up and post an idea if I can keep this thread alive long enough. In any event, it's been more than two years since my only previous petition so I won't be needing a waiver.

Since I have also had a previous I-129F approved, my questions dovetail nicely with this thread.

Question 18: name of all aliens, place and date of filing, A# and result.

Place and date of filing means what, exactly?
The place and date of the signing of the I-129F form or the Service Center and the date that they received it?
If the latter, how would one go about retrieving that information from the USCIS?

pweettyy,

I don't suppose that you have a younger sister, perchance? (Just kidding!)

The consular officer will probably be skeptical but age gap is not a valid basis for rejection. In any case, I hope that your fiance is in extraordinary physical condition and stays that way for a few more decades.

Good luck

If he was in Vietnam you'd have a better chance of "persuading" him. Unfortunately, you absolutely NEED his permission for his son to emigrate. Sole custody or other such arrangements are not sufficient.

Is that a Vietnam-specific requirement or does it apply to every country? (Kazakhstan, also, for example?)

Which requirement? The absent parent letter or being easier to persuade?

My question was in regard to the absent parent letter. I take it from Jim's post that Vietnam is less flexible than other consulates. OK, I'll send an inquiry to the U.S. Consulate in Kazakhstan.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbbreviations on USCIS forms
If I was a coloring-between-the-lines-kinda guy, I wouldn't have an international relationship, would I?

I worked out the problem, though. I created a Word document and played with the location and the font size of the oversized information until everything fit perfectly. Then I printed it on the otherwise filled I-129F form. As you wrote, fewer attachments to lose...

In the event that an insufficient number of characters are available to spell out Turkmenistan, for example, is the abbreviation "Turkmen." likely to be an issue on line 3a of I-129F?

Are there any opinions about the use of VSC to denote the Vermont Service Center? One would think that our civil servants would recognize their own acronyms but nothing would surprise me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrevious Marriages
The I-129F only asks for the date(s) that the marriage(s) ended. The G-325A asks for date and place of both marriage and termination of marriage. That information should be on your divorce decrees.

Toyz r us June 2008 - Present Time

Wal*Mart July 2003 - Jan 2007

It is abundantly clear that someone was unemployed for a month in 2008 and for half of 2007. Specifically stating it seems pointless, especially considering that the heading asks for periods of employment, not periods of unemployment. The sample G-325A suggests to list periods of unemployment. I am curious about the rationale for this.

Your reasoning for favoring a translated address over a transliterated address is a bit fuzzy and it is at odds with the current transliterated system for surnames and given names.

Debo,

If the interview date is in 2010, you will probably have enough time (if you are quick) to file a 2009 Form 1099 MISC, report your under-the-table income on your 2009 Form 1040 (as business or other income) and send a copy of the return to the beneficiary to bring to the Consulate. You will have to pay taxes on the previously hidden cash, of course. The changes in your return could trigger an IRS audit but that's an unavoidable risk.

p.s.

Tend your thread; it's tiresome for members to feel that they are posting into a vacuum.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Question
Trying to fill out these forms is not fun...It's like guessing what the right answer might be. Anyway, I need to fill out the I-134 affadavit of support and have questions. As a side note I e-mailed the consulate in Nicaragua with a few questions and the woman who replied was helpful, but told me that nicaragua does not require a bank letter (listed on the instructions as supporting evidence) and does require last years tax return. Here are my questions for you all:

Do I send my fiance duplicates of everything? It says in the instructions submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources as approptiate.

On the sample form on this website for question #11 where you have to check a box for intending or not intending to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3 (your finance) it says N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence). Is that what others that made it through this step of the process wrote?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresim new at this have a couple of question!!
I had the same question about child support and e-mailed the consulate of my fiance's country (Nicaragua). I was told by the person who replied to my e-mail to report it as other income on the financial affadavit, without including any court documents detailing the child support order. I was also told the only supporting documentation to include was my tax return, no employer letter and no bank letter. This is different from what the instructions on the affadavit say. I was also told to answer "I intend" on question 11, which is different from the advise I have seen here on VJ. I would contact the consulate in the UK to see what is required, if that is an option.
Good Luck!

You will be ok...don't worry. I know somebody who has same age gap as you and your fiance and they were never even asked a single question about it.

And for those who think that big age differences in relationship is silly...well, perfect age doesn't guarantee a perfect marriage.

Yeah, but what about when the woman is older than the man...the man being older than the woman seems so much more widely accepted, no matter the country. I guess I will find out when my fiance has his interview if they find our age difference an issue...

Touched is when someone at the service center "touches" your file. Every time someone does something with the file, even moving it, they scan it into the commuter and it has been "touched." Does that make sense?

Go to google.com and search for 2008 Federal Poverty Guidelines. There is a chart and it depends on the number of people in the household. If it is just you and your fiance then it would be
a family of 2. Poverty level for 2 is $14,000. 125% would be $17,500 if I just did the math correctly...

Just curious about whether or not you gave an explanation as to why you had not seen eachother in the two years prior to filing the petition in number 18.

Question 18 reads:
Describe the circumstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was
established. If you met your fiancé(e) or spouse though an international marriage broker, please explain those circumstances in
Question 19 below. Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your
fiancé(e) must have met should not apply to you.

Just curious if USCIS ever takes this explanation into consideration...

What makes a divorce final varies widely even within the US but if USCIS approved the petition, it would be rare for a Consular officer to question whether a divorce was final.

No judge banged any gavel for either of my divorces.

I think we are also really hung up on what date to say he was divorced. because it is never clearly stated. Just this paper was handed to this person on this day, and this person said this on this day, and agreed to this at this time on this day. Never does it say, and boom, divorce final on this day.

So I'm afraid he's going to get hung up on dates and they are goign to be like, woah, wait a sec, not right, and all hell breaks loose...

SARAH!!! Re-read my review of junior's interview experience. It was so brief compared to what others have shared. I was freaking out because we have an age difference...and they never even asked anything specific about this or about my kids...I think you are going to be just fine. What I would suggest is that you are sure you have your dates straight in terms of when and how you met and when you became boyfriend and girlfriend. They may actually interview you and Yader separately, so just make sure you agree on these dates! I can't advise you too much about the divorce papers, but I think the more confident you are the better things will go. You are so close...my thoughts are with you in this final stretch!
Hugs!
