US Citizenship General DiscussionCitizenship Application - 5 year timeframe
Hello N400 Applicants

I am sending off my application in a few weeks and would like to hear from fellow applicants who had to wait for the 5 year timeframe. I was one of the immigrants whose marriage unfortunately didnt work, so I had to wait a little longer to apply for citizenship.

What I am looking for is a list of supporting documents you sent in with your application so I can cross reference them with what I have. I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row.

Thanks so much VJ community.

Hello People

I am about to send off my application, how did you keep all the pages together?  Did you bind it the same way the removal of conditions was sent it, with one of those 2 pin folder things, that you put through punched holes, or just a big clip??

Thanks

I have also eaten chips in my sammies for years, and I am from South Africa.

Try this one for good measure, take one of those triangle shaped cheese (we call them cow cheese, because it has a cow on it blush.gif ) and spread that on a white bread roll and then add, sour cream and cheese ruffles - yum-o!!!!

I think it says it on the card holder itself, I filed about a year ago, so I am just going by memory, but I do know you have to include that. I just made a copy of it by the way, I wasnt going to part with the original, and it was fine good.gif

Hello ROC Filers, one thing I didnt see in your list of things to include in your package is a copy of your green card (front and back) and you have to include the little card holder that your green card was sent in. Hope this helps. good.gif

We just got our NOA2 not too long ago and now i wanna get prepared for the next steps. I am a full time college student that will be graduating in May. My father will sponsor us, they do accept a sponsor at the Korean Embassy right? My question is, I know both my father and I have to do the i134, but what exactly would I provide in my i134 if i haven't worked in the past 2 years. Do I have to provide any proof of enrollment or anything from my school? What can I use to show my income if I don't have any?

In my instructions for packet 3 it says:

If deemed to be available, as a minimum you must obtain a police certificate from your country of nationality and your country of current residence if your presence there occurred after age 16 and was 6 months or more. Police certificates are required from other countries for all stays of 12 months or more after age 16.

Does my fiancee have to get a police cert. from canada if she lived there for 10 months after the age of 16. but is not currently living there now?

Yes, since she was there for longer than 6 months, and she was 16 or older. Here is a link to another thread that gives lots of information about getting police certificates for people from outside Canada.

http://www.visajourn...tside of canada

Hope this helps. If not, you might try posting this in the Canada forum.

seems like getting this little piece of paper is going to be a hassle. In any case would you suggest that we still schedule an interview even if we don't get the certificate in time? I only ask because I am going to Korea next week and we have everything except for this Canadian police certificate. It would be the only chance that i would have to go to the interview with my fiancee so i want to make it look like we are a committed couple. Even though we probably will get place on AP until we get the Canadian police certificate, if anything we can avoid the increasing fees from $131 to $340 that will happen next year right?

CanadaOntario Vehicle Registration Expiring this month... Can't get Connecticut License

Hi Vjers,

I'm so incredibly upset right now. I've been driving back and forth to the DMV in Norwalk, Connecticut (40 minutes with lots of traffic on i-95) to get my license and vehicle registered and It's been an nightmare for me. I have been there three times just this week.

I have paid for my connecticut state license on Tuesday soon after I find out that they cannot issue it to me because of immigrations. My status in the US is... well I don't have one because I'm still in Adjustment status. I have an EAD and I'm actually working now, so #######?! I went back today to see what the status is and all they could tell me is that "We;ll call you once we know your information has cleared immigration" I asked them "How long is this going to take?", they replied "It could take a week, it could take a month, we don't know."

My problem is that my Ontario registration is about to expire on the 31st of October and I didn't bother registering my vehicle because I figured that I would just get in registered in Connecticut without any problems. So now my question is, what should I do? I can't register my car in CT if my registration in ON has expired. I have american insurance on my car now too. I'm with Progressive. They had no problem getting me covered with a Canadian license and registration so long I change it to CT state soon.

Can I register my vehicle online? with my american insurance?

I called the ministry of transportation and they referred me to the Registration department. I called and left them a message but I fear they won't get back to me in time. So I'm desperately seeking some help here. Any one know what to do? I don't wanna have to drive up to Canada this weekend to do this, but if all fails I suppose I'll have to.

CanadaCanadian Obtain Temporary US Visa with Interview Date
Does anyone have experience or knowledge of obtaining a B1 or other type of travel visa to the US while waiting for the Green Card? With an interview date in place, it would seem like any suspicion of staying in the country as an illegal would not make as much sense and would make it easier to obtain one of these visas. I have heard of people obtaining work/pleasure travel visas while they are waiting for a Green Card (though it is difficult).

My assumption is that because the beneficiary has worked in the US under a TN visa, and also went to school under another visa, and had not overstayed on those visas, she could make the case that she would not be at risk for overstaying a short-term visa.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have a baby and I have to go to the US for a job to feed him, so we are concerned about being apart for however many months we would be separated. Heck, we've even considered "hiking along the border" in Montana just so she and the baby can come for a month or two!

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about K1 Interview in Cuba

Hello everybody, I was searching for some information about this but didn't find any recent posts. My K1 petition was recently approved in about a month and sent to the US Interest Section in Havana. I rushed and called their appointment service to get one, but the soonest one they had available was for August. In the NOA2 it says the petition is approved until June 2010, so my question is: Will my petition expire automatically just because they couldn't give me an earlier appointment date? And if there are any cubans around, how long did you guys have to wait for your interview? I can't believe I have to wait another 5 months for a simple interview but I guess that's life. Thank you in advance!

We waited three months for the appointment, but it just depends. All you have to do to keep your petition current is to email them at HavanaConsularInfo@state.gov before the 4 months are up and let them know the case is still active and there is no problem.

The main problem with the wait is, they do an administrative pre-approval that is valid from the time you get your appointment permission for about 4 months. In that way you get your visa the next day if you are documentarily approved. However, we had to wait several weeks to get the visa after the appointment, because by the time he fixed his birth certificate errors and got his passport and made the appointment and got the date, our pre-approval had expired, unbeknownst to us. Then it snowed in DC for a month and he had to go from Santiago to Havana twice because they told him to come back too soon. You will probably have to wait for them to do the background check again after your appointment. Usually that takes three weeks but we waited more than 6. :(

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3, Revoked? AP? Please Help
Your post is very hard to decipher -

Do you mean your petition was approved at the service center, and then he was denied in JA at the interview? You don't have a timeline that enables people to tell what point you are at -

If the petition was approved at the service center, that does not automatically guarantee a visa - the actual interview at the consulate is where the visa is determined - If that is the situation you are in, I would start emailing the embassy and calling your congressman and senator for help - try to find out why it was denied before it gets returned to the US.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJamaica Mailing address for I-129F

Thank you for your response! So will this be acceptable with the USCIS? I was reading some posts that said something about them not accepting the abbreviations PO and they need the actual address of the Post Office in Montego Bay.
Also, would you happen to know if I have to send a no-impediment certificate with the I-129F application? Im still trying to get straight exactly what additional documents aside from the actual petition form that I need to include when I send it out. I don't want to make any mistakes or forget anything.

Yes that address will be accepted - just don't leave something blank, be sure to put N/a if there is none - like zip code, someone got an RFE for it. You will need the nonimpediment for the interview, not now.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting ready to file (I hope)

Dont worry much.... the line that says "wife and son" will take you to the finish line. Just keep records of communicating and child support. If you make the 125% poverty guidline for a family of 3, then you do not need a co-sponsor. Best of luck

I am also getting ready to file for spouse visa. A little confused as to wether I should file the K3 or CR-1..... actually both of these confuse me. She also has a son that will follow entry to the US at another time, probably a few months later.... suggestions?

Im having my interview tomorrow February 11, 2009. I just have a few questions regarding my fiance's name, he uses different spelling like Stephen and Steven. On his brith certificate and passport, his name is Stephen but on other documents like his IRS or 1040, he uses Steven and also to some of the docs on our K1 application. Do you think it would create a problem? What shall i do?

I have talked to my friend also last night and told her about I and my fiance's meeting here in Philippines, We only met for 2 and half days, She said maybe the consul will question about it and have to be ready for it. It's just that no one would really take care of his business in the US and his mom was so sick at that time. We've known each other for two years, first we just got to know each other for one year and on March 6, 2008, that's the time that i decided to say yes. We do have enough proofs for our fiance interview application.

Thank you!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSecond Interview? Blue Slip questions from Vietnam
QUOTE (tonytd @ Mar 1 2009, 11:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is exactly what is say..

* The Consulate General is unable to issue a visa to you because you have found ineligible under the foollowing section (s) of the US. Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended:
* Section 221 (g) of the Act prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone who has failed to present the documents required in connection with the visa application or who has failed to submit sufficient credible evidence to support the claimed petitionable relationship. The following remarks apply in your case.

* Based on the information ascertained through the visa interview and through documentary materials, consulate officers do not believe that there is a bona fide fiance' (e)/spousal relationship between Petitioner and Beneficiary. If you have any other evidence to present which would convince a reasonable person that teh relationship exists for a reason other than immigration, please submit it. Please label and itemize all materials submitted.

* PETITIONER: In a sworn, notarized statement, please provide a detailed chronology( timeline) of your relationship. Please explain clearly when and how you first met, how you were introduce and when you began corresponding with each other, when you felt your relationship became serious, date and circumstances of marriage proposal (location, time, setting, etc...) .. Did spouse/fiance(e) propose in person or by phone ? where were you when s/he propose ( give exact location)? Did you accept immediately or ask for time to think about it? if s/he did not officially propose, when did you first discuss marriage? How many trips did you make to Vietnam to vistit your spouse/fiance'(e)? How many times have you seen him/her in total how long did you stay each visit? please give as many details as possible.
WARNING: IF YOU FAIL TO TAKE THE ACTION REQUESTED OR FAIL TO PRESENT ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE SUFFICIENT TO OVERCOME YOUR VISA DENIAL UNDER SECTION 221(g)OF THE ACT REQUIRES THAT YOUR APPLCATION BE CANCELLED.

I finished writing an 11 pages essay telling pretty much exactly our relationship, even my parents trip over there to meet her but without me. So should I include some more pictures with these documents? Should I also include pictures of us and our friends. The "lawyer" lady said that we should only submit pictures of just me and her, but wouldn't it be better for pictures of all the people we hang out with? I am just worried that my fiancee have trouble answering more questions... she does really elaborate more on the questions like I would... so i am worried..

I would asume include the pictures that you have with family. Its better to have more than none. Good luck with the rest but make sure you include alot of evidence.
