If you didn't get the calendar and didn't get an e-mail it sounds like you didn't really get an interview date. Log in and try again.

CanadaSeptember Packet 4 recipients - BEWARE!!

I still can't get a calendar to show up! It just gives me the closest available date! Whereabouts on the screen does the calendar option come up? Is there a number to call? Help!

My guess is your Priority Date is a few days before March 11 (whenever USCIS sent your NOA1); and that until your Priority Date is activated in the system, you don't get to view the calendar. I don't know, it's just a guess.

The number to call would be the US Department of State, 1-202-663-1225, options 1, 4, 2, 3, 2, 0. They can tell you when your Packet 3 was logged in, and when your Packet 4 was mailed. Once your Packet 4 has been mailed, you should be able to view the calendar.

(If your Packet 4 has been mailed and you can't see the calendar, first try a different browser. If you're having trouble with the website http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ , e-mail contactus_en_CA@usvisa-info.com )

CanadaSeptember Packet 4 recipients - BEWARE!!
Sorry I didn't document this while going through; I was rushing to get it in before work! Hopefully someone who hasn't scheduled yet can clean this up and post a sticky. As near as I can remember...

Go to http://canada.usvisa-info.com/
At the top right, click "Log In"
Click the checkbox "I have read and understood the information above." and click Confirm
Here you need to enter your Passport Number, Date of Birth, and Nationality, do a CAPTCHA, then click Log In
Choose the option "Permanently Immigrate to the US (Ready to Schedule)"
Choose "Montreal (Canadian/Present in Canada)"
Choose a DHL Branch (the list is at http://csc.public.s3...L_Locations.pdf)
Enter the personal information they ask for, and your Case Number (the one beginning with MTL)
Choose a date on the calendar on the screen; then choose a time.
Be sure to click to schedule it on the next page.

My feeling is also that they get quicker than they have been in the past year.

CanadaOnline Interview Scheduling Mistake
It sounds like their computer system options have changed. Last week when people chose K-1 the system did not let us through to schedule interviews, that's why we chose the Permanently Immigrate option. From what you said, the K-1 option works correctly now.

They know you need an interview, and they know your purpose. If there's a mistake there, just like if you typed or wrote a mistake on any form, they'll ask about it during the interview and correct it. The important thing is that you have an Appointment Date, so they will let you in the Consulate. If, when you log in and go to View Appointment Confirmation Page, you see an Appointment Date, you're all set.

CanadaInterview in flu season; Medical was not

I understood that the flu shots were age dependent. Immunization Requirements

Aaah! Oops! I did see that page way back before his medical. Slipped my mind since then. Thanks for the reassurance!

CanadaInterview in flu season; Medical was not
Thank you for replies, I'm not so worried now.

why don't you just get the flu shot anyway because it is so cheap, better to be safe then sorry.

That's how I think too.. Like I said, if it were me I would get it. I'll certainly talk to my fiancé about it (only occurred to me today that we'll be interviewing in flu season), but I'm not going to tell him what to do. :innocent:

As long as the medical is marked off as fine (which it is if you have it in hand) the consulate doesn't care if you have the shot or not.

OK then he should be good!

CanadaInterview in flu season; Medical was not
http://www.visajourn...on-requirements says:
Q. When does the flu season start for purposes of the seasonal flu vaccine requirement? Since the seasonal flu vaccine is required, do I have to get the seasonal flu vaccine if it is not the flu season?
A. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine.

According to *that*, since my fiancé had his medical in June, he's not required to have the flu shot. Can anyone from previous years confirm this? Or, has anyone who had their medical in not-flu season and interview in flu season, been required to get the flu shot? Or can someone point me to the official USCIS documentation that says it's not required if the *medical* wasn't during flu season? So I can print it out and show them if they say he needs it.

If it were me, I'd get it to cover all bases, but it's not me, and I don't want to tell him he "should" get it if it's not necesary. Really don't want an RFE though for something we could've forseen. Can someone please put my mind at ease?

CanadaExplain how to pay interview fee at Scotiabank?
Tim and Erin: if you've been going in as Permanently immigrate to the US (Ready to schedule) option, try the one that says K-1 instead. I remember someone said they were able to get the calendar that way, so it seems they've changed some options in the system... it's worth a shot.

Click Continue, that will bring you to the page with the calendar where you can select a date and time.
Also, if you've already chosen a date through the new system, you have the ability to log back in and reschdule.

I'm feeling like I made a mistake either in researching the laws before he first visited, or in choosing to do K-1 instead of me moving to Canada.
KukolkaFemaleCanada2010-09-05 18:06:00
CanadaAnyone feel like they've made a huge mistake?

I urge you to talk to your spouses about how you are feeling. If they don't know they can't help you make it better. Sure they can't pull a perfect job and all your best friends next door out of a hat but at least put it out there.

All I can say though after reading all your valuable words though is to please just speak with your partners about what you are feeling. You need to communicate these details. Out of respect for yourself, your partner and your relationship. No matter what they will always be by your side and I am sure will do anything possible to help lessen the burden.

Wise words. About any issue, communication is *extremely* important. I cannot stress this enough. A partner who doesn't know about a problem *cannot* help. Communication can avert potential disaster, or start you on the road to mending what's already taken place. (F)

CanadaEating Differences
My Canadian doesn't put ketchup on lunch meat, but he does on egg sandwiches. I'll have ketchup with fries or a veggie burger, but imo it's much improved by Frank's Red Hot. In the cafeteria at work (northeast USA) they have squirt tubs of ketchup, yellow mustard, and mayonnaise. I don't like mayo much but will have it if it's only a little already mixed in with something. My sweetie uses mayo on tuna or salmon, but only if he doesn't have Caesar salad dressing. I like tuna with dill pickle, honey mustard, & hot sauce. Other Americans look at me funny when I ask for honey mustard to go with mozz sticks. :P My swee agrees that rocks! He doesn't like pasta; I like mac & cheese with black pepper & cayenne pepper. I'd never heard of a Mott's Clamato Caesar before my swee mentioned it, then a few weeks ago American coworkers were talking about "clamato" juice, but they pronounced it with a long 'a' sound and looked it up, I hadn't realised it was clam-tomato juice.

When you go to the site above and click Log In, it says "All fees paid within this site are non-refundable." I didn't see anywhere to pay a fee through the site. For K-1's, for now, I assume this is still done in person at the interview; can anyone confirm this?

BTW to everyone fretting over slow mail, you don't need the P4 in hand to schedule your interview! Once you know it's been sent, you have a priority date as mentioned above so you're in the system and able to schedule. You need your Passport Number, Case Number, and to know which DHL Branch you want to handle your passport. :)

CanadaNext batch of K1's waiting for interview in MTL
I called yesterday out of curiosity whether another operator would say the same thing about scheduling our own appointments. I first asked about appointment date; there was none, and she volunteered the information that Packet 4 was sent out on the 7th. Then I asked if we were supposed to schedule our own interview, and she said she didn't think so, that there should be an interview date in the Packet 4.

I called and asked specifically whether there had been any notations on my file. She said he is eligible, but not yet scheduled. I persisted, "but are there any notations in my file?" and she looked and said Packet 4 was sent out September 7.

Okay, so I call again today to ask if my P4 has been mailed, and the lady says no. I ask if there is an interview date (since many P3s logged after mine have one) and she says no. When I ask her (still using my happy 'don't piss off the DOS voice) if there are any notations on my file, she HANGS UP ON ME! Seriously?? After waiting over 15 minutes to talk to someone and that's what she does. ARGH. I'm so angry with them right now.

How frustrating! So sorry, Peg! I was only at 67 days on the 7th. Call back when you can, I'd think yours would've been scheduled in the same batch.. good luck!

Gratz to the people who got interviews! I called when I saw status updates, but was told we're not scheduled yet... didn't know I was supposed to ask specifically whether a letter has been sent out, rather than about the appointment date, so I'll try that tomorrow. Glad to hear K-1's are being scheduled again though! :) *trying to stay hopeful*

How do people find out about the interview? Do you just get a letter in the mail with the date and time?
Thanks,
Marie

One way to find out is by getting Packet 4 in the mail with the date of your interview.

Another way is to call the US Department of State, give them your case number from Packet 3 and ask for your interview date. Here's the thread with info from Dodi on calling DOS, and from Darnell on what they can tell you about your case.

@Weevil - you can often buy Quark here in the stores. I discovered that Trader Joe's carries it sometimes and we have a German deli that also carries it.

Just finished my last bit of Milka...sadness.

Really? I've never seen it here. Milka on the other hand I find all the time.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need a Co sponsor?
I'm looking over the affidavit of support form. I am wondering if I need a co sponsor. I make about $27,000 a year, and have worked at my current job for just under 2 years. I can get a letter from my employer and I can make copies of my pay stubs. I'm a bit worried though because after bills and stuff, I really don't have the much money left over. I am capable of supporting him once he arrives here, I am just not sure if I would need a co sponsor due to my lack of money in the bank.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBirth certificate? and other questions.
For his interview, does he need my original birth certificate, or is a copy sufficient? He also has copies of all pages of my current and expired passports.

Also, does anyone know offhand if the Hamburg, Germany consulate does the interviews, or will he have to travel to Berlin or Frankfurt.

And, for the affidavit of support, do I need proof of employment and the tax filing, or do I choose?

So when I fill out my annual income, which is 125% of the poverty line for four people (there are two of us). Do I need to list other property like my car? I don't have stocks bonds, life insurance, or real estate, and I prefer not to list my bank accounts. For evidence I am listing my merit raise notification, my pay stubs, and my tax transcript.
