National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC May 2013 - K1 filers..

Wooo!  Our file arrived at NVC!!!  NOA2 May 17, so this was 17 regular days or exactly 10 BUSINESS DAYS, and it arrived today.  Got our case number too, but it's not shipped out yet, so I'll call back in another couple days to make sure it's moved on.  But it's a HUGE relief, I was starting to worry since so many had already gotten through.

My heart leapt when the lady asked for date of birth and names, because every call before then had just stopped after giving my WAC number.  I knew when she asked for date of birth that there was good news, and I could hardly contain my excitement. biggrin.png

You can track your case online once they give you your case number here: https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx

I don't think we need to do anything to have our case sent from the USCIS to the NVC.  I think it's something that automatically happens.

When i can call NVC? I am living here in Singapore and the time difference sometimes is confusing.. thank you guys.. *itching to get hold of them and get our case number :/

They're open from 7am to midnight eastern standard time, Monday through Friday.  They're closed today though, due to the holiday.

So I called USCIS to find out what's going on, waited 45 minutes to talk to a tier 2. She tells me "I don't even see in our end that the case has been reopened yet." when I asked what can cause that she said "sometimes they will reopen if they feel they made the wrong decision or if they did things in the wrong order or forgot to do something, there's steps they have to go by before they can actualy approve it. But if you don't get that notice we sent out in 30 days we can file a service request and find out what's going on" GRRRRRRRRRRranting33va.gif  I'm back to square 1!!!

Maybe something wasn't done right and that's why the NVC hasn't received your petition. Hopefully they're just fixing whatever they screwed up and they'll send it right away to the NVC. I swear, the USCIS is the epitome of a poorly run government agency.

One good thing about the Dutch embassy is that from what I understand, once they have your case things move rather quickly.  I can't believe you've been waiting for nearly a month.  That's ridiculous.

We were approved on May 15 and I just called to see if by chance they received our case yet.  They have not, but I'm not surprised.  It's only been a few days.  She told me it takes 15 business days for them to receive cases, but I'm going to call Thursday or Friday.  It seems like most people only have to wait about a week.  I hope our case isn't one of the ones that takes forever. :(

National Visa Center (Dept of State)The Waiting room for fiancé visa case number is it 10 days or 20

I was approved in May and it took the NVC almost 2 weeks to enter my case in their system.  Some people that were approved on the same day as me got their case # just 4 days after approval, but others had to wait almost a month.  But like others have said, start calling daily a few days after approval.  To avoid long wait times, it's best to call either early in the morning or late at night.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 interview

The Naples interview was fairly straightforward.. They asked him a few questions and were pretty serious folks but not mean at all, just businesslike. When we went through a few years ago they had a big emphasis on the financial stuff, not sure if they are still like that? But the mailbox they deliver the passports to at the end of the day had a LONG line, so get there early to avoid the wait! Good luck!

thanks guys

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)wait time after embassy for visa
Hi, I just had my interview sep 10th in Sweden, and was approved. Right now at Ceacs website it says admin processing, but I'll update when my visa comes. The lady at the embassy told me less than two weeks (I live in Sweden) and I sure hope so, we're leaving on the 24th. It might be smart to buy a flex ticket so you can change the date, we did because it really is a risk of buying tickets before having your visa in hand.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBelfast US Consolate

Hi everyone!

So, this may be a silly question, but my fiance is living in Northern Ireland (UK) and wrote on his form that he would go to the US Consoluate in Belfast for his Interview.  However, I can't find anywhere on here that recognizes the Belfast US consolate or anywhere on the USCIS website.  They only seem to reference Dublin, Ireland.  My question is two-fold.  First, if we put down a consolate that doesnt do interviews, is that likely to hold up our application? Or would they be kind enough to just tell us that we need to use Dublin? Also, if he is living in the UK technically, but using his Irish passport for the visa, could he even go to Belfast if they did interviews there as it is a US consolate in the UK and not Ireland?

Thanks so much!!

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Though after looking at the ds-260 I don't have the NVC Invoice ID Number to get through the first step, so to this i would assume that until your letter tells you your NVC Invoice ID Number. Keep filling out the ds -230 etc.

Well thats what I'm doing at least, will report back with my findings

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Hi all,

I received my letter from the London embassy today saying that they had received our K-1 petition and so I now need to fill out all the forms etc...so I go on to the link to check i had filled out all the forms etc....then I see the notice regarding the DS-260 form starting from the 1st Sept..........

Now by the time i get the forms in the post...It'll be after the 1st September....do you think I can still send off my DS-230 part one etc that I have spent loads of time filling out.....or do I wait and go through filling all the new DS-260 form out?

My fiance is worried they will reject the DS-230 form if I send that...........

One thing after another.....

Thanks for reading!

Im in the same boat as you, I'm tempted to fill out both and send them both...

USCIS Service CentersI129f approvals times.
Most of the time, it's all to do with the service center. California is moving quickly right now, so don't be surprised if you see people from there approved before you. From the looks of your timeline, you'll be adjudicated soon, so don't worry!
emyardyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-01 14:40:00
USCIS Service CentersK-1 Visa Processing Times: 2nd NOA: 5 months, really?

The whole process cannot really be estimated, unfortunately, but they say the average wait time for NOA2 is 5 months. Some take less time, some take more. NOA2 is only half the battle, though. There is a lot that needs to happen between NOA2 and receiving the visa, and unfortunately that just means more waiting!!

It also depends on which service center you are sent to. California has been quite fast recently, while the others have kind of been on the slower side.

I'd say if you file now, in a year, you'll be done, but don't make any plans as you never know what could happen with the whole process!

Good luck!!!

United KingdomMedical interview in London K1
Hey VJ,

I am going to call NVC today regarding our LDN# and I am wondering if he can schedule the medical interview once we have the case number or if we must wait for London to say they have our case at the embassy. I am seeing conflicting answers to this, so if just like some clarification.

Thanks!!

United KingdomSupport for I-134 for London Embassy

Thank you for your reply! I realize that the approval is based on the specific officer that gives the interview, so what is accepted really does vary, I am sure! However, I did not know that the requirements fro the I-134 are to be 100% above the poverty level, rather than 125%. That makes a huge difference in our case. Thanks again!

United KingdomSupport for I-134 for London Embassy

Hello VJers,

I am trying to get supporting materials ready to send my fiance the I-134 for his interview in London, and I am a bit nervous about whether or not I have enough evidence to support the form..

For instance, due to an injury at work that led to some time off, my income this year was just below the required income, by just about $400. I know that this means I must make up the $400 x 5 in order to be considered above the poverty line by 125%. So, basically I need to make up for $2,000.

I have tax transcripts for the last two years, the 2011 return shows that I actually made above the threshold, while the 2012 return is the one that is just below the threshold.

I have a letter from my employer stating that I am a full time employee, making XXX ($400 below the requirement), and have worked there since 2005, blah, blah, blah... all that good stuff.

Next, I have two titles to two cars. I entered their information into Kelly Blue Book, and stapled the results to the backs of copies of the car titles. One of the cars is worth $19,000, while the other is worth $4,500.

Lastly, I will be getting a Member Profile Sheet from the bank that states that I have $40,000 in a savings account, which will be stamped and signed by a teller. Although the account has been opened for a while, the money is new due the inheritance of a family member who passed away in December of 2012. -- However, my name is not the only one on the bank statement-- will this count against me? I share the account with another family member, but the money is just as much mine as it is his. How will this be looked at during the interview?

Any help/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!!

United KingdomLondon People- Anyone else in my shoes?

Hey I was in the same boat as you I waited 4 weeks to the day after sending my ds-2001 before I was in the system and they issued me a interview date and they did it straight away I did put that my wedding date was the 21st of September.

I must have got lucky because my interview is next Wednesday and I only received the appointment letter today they must have had a cancellation and put me in that date I wouldn't be surprised if you get a interview date in the next few days seeing your packet 3 was sent in around the same time as mine as well as the medical and the sending of the ds-2001 all being sent on similar dates.

Good luck I'm sure you'll hear something soon :-)

Thank you, I sure hope you're right!! I just don't get what it taking so long!!

United KingdomLondon People- Anyone else in my shoes?

Both of you--
They do say to allow four weeks for your forms to be registered/opened/recorded (whatever you want to call it.)

Ejett, Did you give a wedding date in your cover letter? What date?
As far as your cover letter if you send again...What Sarah said. And state that you completed the medical exam on [date] , have all your documents collected, and are fully ready to attend an interview.

.

I put October 12th as the wedding date. I wasn't too bothered about the whole thing until now. It seems the embassy is giving out interview dates for early October, which is making me start to panic!

As for the new cover letter, should I still say that it is the second time I've sent DS-2001?

emyardyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-09-12 18:28:00
United KingdomLondon People- Anyone else in my shoes?

Just my opinion, but why wait 5 days hoping for a response from the embassy. Send another DS-2001 ASAP.

I understand that.. You really think I should? I just never wanted to come across as annoying or anything on their end. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, I suppose!

If you think it's a good idea to resend it, then I will!

Should anything special go on the cover letter?

emyardyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-09-12 15:25:00
United KingdomLondon People- Anyone else in my shoes?

No the phone line is no longer open for London. Basically, we have no way of contacting the visa unit and speaking to a human being... So, we are stuck with email...

Thanks for that, I had no idea it was no longer available! I am assuming that means that getting a 'code' is also obsolete and the only way to talk to them is through that contact form. Is that right?

Agreed! Sending a new DS-2001 won't hurt anything and will either give them what they say they are missing (perhaps due to it being misplaced on their end) and/or will cause them to potentially take a look at your file, realize they have everything, and schedule an interview while they're in your file. It's such a quick and easy form...it would be worth the few minutes just to know you've resent.

I think you are right. I'm just afraid that by sending a new DS-2001, or file will be kicked to the end of the line!

emyardyFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-09-12 15:22:00
United KingdomLondon People- Anyone else in my shoes?

Thank you all for the advice.

I did find the contact form, which I did not know existed for K-1 applicants, so I will wait out their reply, and then I'll most likely have to do the $16 phone call..

I would like to think the second and third DoS people I talked to are just misinformed, but I am never that lucky!!

If I get nothing from the email, I think I will have Jake resend the DS-2001.

Jola, have you found that resending the forms has helped at all up to this point?
