Good luck to you! I know it's not the news you wanted to hear from them about your visa but don't give up until you and your love are together again. If it ain't worth fighting for it ain't worth having and you my dear may have a fight on your hands but that just shows how much love there is and how much it is worth having!!!!

I would suggest that since you are dealing with police/legal matters that in this case you need to contact a lawyer who perhaps specializes with Dominican Republic either because he/she is from there or has dealt with similar situations. Unfortunately you are going to get embassy workers who do not know the ins and outs of his case and you need a lawyer who can help you find ways to circumnavigate documents and their system that may assist in this particular type of case. That would be what I would do in your shoes.

United KingdomMedical tomorrow, i think im screwed

So I had EVERYTHING ready and prepared, took a shower, came back down to double check everything and my sister had moved everything and my passport style photographs have randomly disappeared, i can't find them anywhere... my medical is tomorrow at 10am and we're leaving here to drive down to twickenham at 6.30 so i have no way of getting any more done, i tried printing my own, the pictures are perfect but they are very slightly pixelated and arent close to the standard done in the photo booths!! How picky are they at the knightsbridge doctors when it comes to the photos? Will it matter if they're not 100% perfectly clear or am i screwed? thanks in advance for any help :(

Yes they charged me £3 per bag... my camera, phone and ipod went into one UPS-like sealed envelope, and my backpack containing a folder and food had a tag strapped to it which was another £3 :)  I had to sign 1 piece of paper per bag and they gave me raffle ticket like pieces of paper with a number on so they could give me the right items back

Did any of you guys attach police certificates, birth certificates and evidence of engagement etc like it says to do on the DS-156K form?? It says something about attaching them to the form... I thought these had to be taken to the interview? Or did you all just send the form without those attached?

your case won't be mailed instantly after approval, the wait time is 2-3 weeks... keep checking your case online on the USCIS website as they will tell you when it has been sent. then you need to wait another week for it to be received then call them and they'll give you your number

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Medical

I'm aware there is a thread on this already but I can't find it anywhere. I'm about to schedule my medical and I'm looking at the price list. Standard medical exams are £235... but below it says about everything else; xrays, dna collection, drug test etc... however it doesn't say in the instructions if these are needed or not... im so confused. Do we have to pay for these on top of the £235 exam or are they included if needed?

so.. im real confused here... ive read on here and have been told that usually at the US embassy, it can take up to 2-3 weeks for them to prepare a K1 case for interview. so im still here in the USA until september 5th and wasn't expecting anything to have moved at the embassy yet.. however i just checked and within 1 day of the embassy in london receiving my case, it has been prepared and is ready for interview and my packet 3 arrived in the mail today. im so so confused, i thought this was supposed to take weeks? i'm not complaining, im grateful its moving fast but im so confused as to how

Africa: Sub-SaharanNigerian embassy communication call log proof need help

Print the T-Mobile information showing that you call Nigeria...That's enough to show you have phone communication....I can guarantee you they barely look at them that closely...You just need to show the ties of communication back and forth to your husband(Because the answer is you just truly cant provide what you don't have)......It doesn't necessary means it have to show your husbands name.....Telling you from my personal experience. Don't edit or copy and paste anything....Print it just the way it is on the T-Mobile website....But don't rely solely on call log....Make sure you have bunch of pictures and cards and emails and anything you can think of.....Evidence is never enough till you hear that magic word....You are approved.....My interview lasted just with 5 to 8 mins max during mine years ago....I think the reason been that I have a whole bunch of evidence to show ....Which make the CO, basically not interested in asking to see because I know he was just looking at me with bunch of papers and just give up..........Very important....let him maintain eye contact with the CO and make sure he speak up......Let him not go and act timid like most Nigerian do....He have to be smart and answer questions as it comes with a very straight eye contact and smile.....That's the secret.......

Good luck and best of married life....

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOlder American WOmen
Your case might be different but i look at that Lagos Consulate base there decision on certains things....

If your American wife was to be a Nigerian and live in Nigeria,And it happens that she is older than you like say 7 to 10 years,Would you have sincerely married her for good.....Which in Nigeria,I am sure than %95 of people out there wont settle for such marriage but if the other way round, maybe the guy is older with 7 to 10 years,Is okay and very acceptable becouse in Nigeria we always see it that the man is suppose to be older so as to have the wife respect him at all times but Here in America, age is nothing but just number...For the short period i have been here...i have seen woman of like 45 years old marry a guy of 25 and they live happily and enjoy there lives as they day goes by......

So,Most tmes,Lagos Consulate base there decision on the Nigerian way of living which i think is most likely to be the trutful outcome of most cases.......But am still not against woman been older becouse my wife was even older than me with 2 years and to us,it was nothing and when i had my interview...I was approved within 2 mins of asking me how we met and how i propose to my wife....Moreso,My wife was from a Nigerian parents but was born and raise here.....so i guess most cases are different....

Secondly,Lagos Consulate can also approve visa in grounds that assuming that the petitioner been the older american woman has never been married and has no child ever in her life before been with you and filling for your case,Even if there is 15 years age difference,Is always given some considerations and most times, the approval is always on the go becouse she was never married before and dont have kids and of good age of getting married and raising a family....Thats a clean case and is always approved....i said this becouse i know one 27 years older Nigerian guy that was approved of k-1 visa in 2009,when the wife was 48....which is more than 12 years differnce but both were approved becouse they had a clean case and they lady visited him like 4 times piror to there interview in Nigeria....They were approved and both are still living together till date....So i see it that each case is view differently and they sometimes try to assume if both were to be Nigerians and living in Nigeria,Would they both have ever think of getting married.....

Thats how i see it ...All i said is just kind of thoughs and things i have i have seen happen,i could be wrong but i hope this helps.....Have other Nigerians that deals with Lagos Consulate advice you more rather than basing your decisions on just your own personal experience......

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPls Vj,i need clarifications......
Oh just want to clarify on the last post i made base on NVC sending our case to Abuja,my fiancee was able to talk to the operator in the NVC and we were told our case was mail to Lagos Consulate not Abuja, and we finally got a hardcopy stating our new case no from NVC and we were notify that our package was mail out on the 11/03/2011 and we were able to to track it thru DHL and it was delivered on the 14/3/2011....so thank God...Now,Am waiting for the the Lagos Consulate to contact me on what and what to do next and the date of my interview....Though was told that i will have enough time to do all the paper work but i don't know if i should go ahead with my police clearance and my medical or do i still wait for the embassy to contact me first....thanks..

Pls for people that have done the medicals before here in Lagos,Can i be able to do it on Saturdays because it will be hard for the bank i work to grant me time off during the working hours to go and do that.Pls advice....pls is it possible to do that on weekends...thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPls Vj,i need clarifications......
Well i want to clarify some things,i hope VJ will have some answers for me.....In our NOA2 hardcopy that we received,It said that the case is been forwarded to NVC but that it will be sent to Abuja Consulate,i though that all k-1 visa is adjudicated here in Lagos not Abuja, and when we fill our form,we did fill that Lagos is the Consulate that i will have the interview, why then is it been transferred to Abuja....and i live and work here in Lagos which would be very easy for me doing everything here in Lagos...

Secondly, I am a bit worried about this development,Becuz I just started my new job in one of the banks in Nigeria this week and with how things is moving in the office,i don't even know if i will be granted time to do all the necessary paper works like going for my medicals and getting my police clearance,My fiancee was very worried with this bank offer initially but i thought is something that wont be a problem with my preparation of going thru the interview process, moving to US and of course, getting married like we have always wanted this July/August and all that but is turning to something else everyday...And i dont even know how to explain this things to my fiancee now but am trying to do what i can to follow up but i might just let her know if is too much for me....Becus she deserve to know everything and that's what i promised her before she agreed with me taking the job..

My question now is,Our visa has left NVC,how do i know if is in Nigeria and of course if is in Lagos Consulate or Abuja Consulate and if so,which of the consulate am i going to have the interview....And more so,Can i go on with doing the medical with the approval hospital here in Lagos aswell as the police clearance or do i still wait for the embassy to contact me before doing all that....Pls Advice ,How do i follow up things,My fiancee is asking me everyday what and what i have done and yet,i don't just know how to follow up things.....Pls Vj ....advice me .....thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdvice on tax return for k-1 interview at Lagos
As much as the money is not coming from me,i know getting married to a woman especially a woman with American culture means that you are solely responsible for her basic needs and when we don't have savings....it will backfire....Am i right or wrong....so it dose not hurt to see things thru.....besides i cant be able to work the next couple of months after my arrival which means we will only be sustaining solely from her salary and what we have saved.....i don't want to start killing myself becus i moved to America....noway...things have to be done right.....But anyway...like you said....we could still celebrate after the whole process...it worth to....and At any rate....i still miss her like crazy......so is all good...she will be here in couple of weeks....and Thanks for the advice...i guess we ar good for the tax returns becus we have 2009 and 2010....thanks everyone....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdvice on tax return for k-1 interview at Lagos
Well thank God we have gotten to this stage....and all is moving just fast.....My interview is coming up on 22nd,June and i have all the document necessary for it but we probably need some advice concerning the 3 years tax return....

Well,in Nov,2007,my fiancee broke her leg and had to go through surgery on that same Nov and at the point, she was working and was living in a different city from where her parent live but when she broke her leg, they parent had to come and took her home because she could not walk by herself and afterward, she went through surgery and Thank God,everything went fine, she started walking again, she didn't go back to the same job after the whole process and equally didn't go back to her own house, after several months of staying at home trying to recover, she started working for her parents because the parent has there own company the following year which is ending of 2008,cant remm the exact month....So,when she was recovering, she didn't bother to file for her taxes for 2008,that was suppose to be filled in early 2009 becus she work for only like 3 months or less....

Now,we ar getting all our document for my interview, she then realize she didn't have her 2008 tax return and she is currently not working for her parents anymore which will not allow her file it now and she moved to stay by herself after she was fully recovered in 2010....Though,we have the 2009 and 2010 tax return because she work for both year fully... and Now,she is fully working also and she brought her appointment letter that she was given when she got her current job in April,2010 till date and she equally get a new letter from work dated last month, showing that she is still working in the company till date and her pay slip for over 10months and she is making above $30,000 a year and am the only person she is sponsoring .....No other dependent of whatsoever...
...
My question now is,Would the 2008 tax return be a problem for us becus the way she was sounding,As if she is sure that was going be a problem,i don't know maybe from what she research or so,she could not handle it not having the 2008 tax and for single reason,That has made her spend over $1800 to buy a ticket to be here when i will be having my interview this month, which was part of the money we would have used for our wedding in October....i am so mad about that but i just don't want to make it a big issue because what she will say is that i like consider money in everything i do....or maybe i don't love her enough to let her to be here to defend it or so.....which is nonsense becus am sure they wont let her in to the embassy when am having my interview...i told her though but she believe with her passport as US citizen, she can be allow inside........lets see the possiblity but am so mad about the situation which i will definitely let her know after they didn't let her in on the interview day

Again, she also brought papers from the hospital showing she went surgery in 2007 and was staying at home trying to recovered for almost 2008 and within me,i thought the papers is enough but with how she is going about it,maybe is not.....Vj,pls, is what we have not enough for the tax becus what i read online was just her most recent tax return which we have 2009 and 2010 and the letters from work.....Pls advise.....because i know as much as she here on the day of the interview, she wont be allowed to enter the embassy with me which is my own annoyance of spending over $2000 just to be here for nothing.............Which could have been used for our wedding and honeymoon,,,

Pls advise in anyway you guys can.......

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVery Recent NOA2, 2nd Letter of Intent needed for interview Lagos, NG?

My case was approved with in 4 weeks when we filed....But that was in 2011

...We went through Lagos Consulate,They didn't ask me any of those things...They don't care for the letter of Intent....Trust me,..Am 100 percent positive they don't care for it....because they know anybody can make that letter in just few mins.........They mostly make there decision base on the file Department of state sent to them but i still had a lot of pictures and emails and all that (Bring anything you think that can help your case......Always put in mind, every case is different).........He ask me for only phone record which i have over 50 pages of it.....He just look at one page and see the Network....T-mobile and said.... okay..... besides I have more than 70 copies pictures.....i ask him if he need see them....He said no..But before then,i already see the initial evidence  we sent when we originally file our case in the US with bunch of pictures we sent.......Which he was looking at when flipping my file.........He Just said Congratulation and welcome to United states ......That i should come next week to pick up my visa....He took my passport........But the whole interview lasted just like 5 to 10 mins long.......................

But make sure you are calm, bold and speak up.................Dress simple too......... Don't appear intimidated ......Smile and make eye to eye contact if possible......Most times,They don't look at people in the eye,but will be acting busy but are not,They are just monitoring your reactions......

Most Important,Don't be late....Avoid Lagos traffic.....Most people make that mistake....Don't be one...

Wish you best of luck and happy married life in advance.....

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)So you've gone and gotten a medical interview appointment?

We just got our NOA2 on May 15th and are still waiting on the NVC, but I love this!  I've forwarded this on to my fiance so he'll know what to expect when he goes for his medical in Amsterdam.  So much is written about what to do with the initial filing, but after you get the NOA2 it gets all muddy.  It's nice to find clear direction of what to expect.  Thank you!! :)

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Any Dutch/American couples??

What did everyone do ticket wise? I am debating on just getting a return ticket and cancelling that. But I am afraid the costs will be significantly higher than if I were to get a one-way. The one way is about 2300 flying KLM. The return is about a thousand.

We bought a round-trip ticket for my husband when he came here on his K1.  It's ridiculous to pay nearly 3x as much for a one-way flight. We just didn't use the return part of the ticket.  Nothing bad happened to us.  He flew here on KLM/Delta.

Is the lockbox filing location different between the CR1/IR1 and the K1?

When i read the 129k information it showed a Dallas lockbox. We are about to send everything out so it would be good to know to which address.

The K1 lockbox is in Texas.  From there they will forward it to the correct processing center.

Hello! My fiance is Dutch. :)

I am waiting on his stuff so I can file the I-129F, which should be coming any day now. One question that I have is that he would prefer to go to the embassy in Den Haag for his interview, but everything that I've seen only mentions Amsterdam. Does he have to go to Amsterdam or is Den Haag okay?

Thank you for any help/advice you can offer. :)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC May 2013 - K1 filers..

So this morning I called NVC ofr my case # and the rep(very rude person) asked me to read what my NOA2 stated. It said my case was "forwarded to the listed consulate". The rep said my case went directly to my consulate and that cases do not always transfer to NVC? Who am I to argue with her, but I thought it went from CSC to NVC to consulate????

I've read threads on here where that has happened, but I don't remember what the end result was.  If you use the search function you might be able to find those threads.  Although, I see that you just received your NOA2 last monday.  It's only been 5 days.  Even though it says on your NOA2 that the case was transferred to your consulate, I would wait a few more days to call the NVC back.  My case took nearly 2 weeks to be entered in their system. Also, just because it says that on your NOA2, that doesn't mean that's what's going to happen.  Sometimes USCIS puts wrong info on there.  Go figure.  With mine, the Hague was listed as my consulate (which was wrong), but it was forwarded to Amsterdam (the correct one) by the NVC.  Yet another example of incompetence by USCIS.

It seems many of the times I call NVC, I get this same B*#ch that says 'read the first few lines on your letter, It says wait 90 days before calling doesn't it?' No you idiot it actually says it was forwarded on to our listed consulate. Seriously how stupid are these people and how can they be employed in a job they know nothing about? Then after calling USCIS to check where my file is I am told there is no such thing as a Teir 2!? Then that all files are forwarded to NVC and that my file would have been fowarded to NVC along with every other file. Then the NVC call center person says that files don't go to NVC they go straight to the consulate!? What amazing incompetence!

Have you tried contacting the consulate?  I have heard of USCIS sending petitions to the consulate rather than the NVC.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC May 2013 - K1 filers..

Wooo!  Our file arrived at NVC!!!  NOA2 May 17, so this was 17 regular days or exactly 10 BUSINESS DAYS, and it arrived today.  Got our case number too, but it's not shipped out yet, so I'll call back in another couple days to make sure it's moved on.  But it's a HUGE relief, I was starting to worry since so many had already gotten through.

My heart leapt when the lady asked for date of birth and names, because every call before then had just stopped after giving my WAC number.  I knew when she asked for date of birth that there was good news, and I could hardly contain my excitement. biggrin.png

You can track your case online once they give you your case number here: https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx
