When I go here https://egov.uscis.g...sDisplayInit.do the MSC doesn't list I-130, that's where I was getting stuck. Silly things, thanks for trying to help everyone!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLocating Processing times
I'm having trouble finding any answers for processing times of the I-130 in the Chicago Lockbox. I have looked all over. We got the receipt for it but it's not in their system yet. Hoping no news is good news. Since we did it ourselves without a lawyer and so many say that's not a good thing it's making me paranoid. I know many of you have done it all on your own too and so grateful I have your answers to so many other questions but I just couldn't find this one. Being separated from your husband is not easy, but it certainly would be easier if I had an estimate of how long it will take or notice from them that it was in their system.

I've tried the case # thing but even when I called she told me I have to wait 45 days before they will even look into it. I get it was just wishful thinking.

I know he should have never gone back but he had to, to wrap things up so now we wait apart just hoping one of you can point me to estimate time of how long it will take?

THANKS!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding NVC - Packet IV
Since this thread answered my question about the copy/originals I figure rather than start a new thread since it's the same sorta topic I'd ask a question here too...

I need some help because after 3 hours of reading replies here and links I'm just as confused. First my husband is not here he had to go back so we are apart and hoping no one gives me ####### about that like the nasty comments I have gotten before. We don't have a lawyer so we are doing it on our own but with that comes so much confusion. We are still waiting on the i-130 but I thought I would try and start getting ahead to get everything ready for the NVC.

Can someone explain the difference of the 2 tracks i-864 and ds-3032 (I think that is what they are) the first looks like the fees are much less or is it the $88 on top of the fees listed on the ds-3032?

I have 4 children on the support form do I count the them all even though I just claim 2 for taxes? So my tax info will show different if I am to list all 4 children. Do I count child support as income or does that not count as the 125%?

I would be so grateful if someone could help me along with this so I can work ahead so we are waiting on them rather than them ever waiting on us!

BTW I love this site. Certainly helps on those days when this wife is really missing her husband and the 4,000+miles might as well be to Pluto!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOver the moon, but now confused...
So I just went on the check my status today to see if MAYBE it was listed in the system and to my SHOCK our I-130 was approved yesterday the day after my birthday and in 39 days! WOW!!!!! Now for the next part. I know there are two tracks I've read all the step by step but am still very confused. I don't make enough money because I have 4 kids so a friend is going to co-sponsor. I've asked before and got "read it and you will see" well that didn't help...what are the fee differences between track 1 and track 2. Track one only lists (from what I see) $88 for the affidavit of support (which I know we will need two one for me and one for co-sponsor) but what other fees are with track 1? Does one track move faster than the other?

It's kinda hard doing this without an attorney but I'm so glad to have you all here who have been through it or are going through it together! Thanks so much for any tips!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJust Recieved my I 797 What should i do next?
Next you are on the NVC steps. I just got my I-797 today too. On Monday I am going to start calling 603-334-0700 to see if they have a case number for me. Then my husband is going to email them the DS-3032 and everything will get moving through the NVC

Here is the email template for the DS

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long after NOA2 till NVC sends out forms

I'd advise you to not believe half of what the operators tell you. They say you're supposed to receive something in the mail, but it's probably a very small percentage that actually does, because I've never heard of that before. And ask for waiting the amount of time they tell you - don't. Call everyday. They're required to tell you it can take 15 - 20 days for things to process, but it rarely does. The chances of you getting a case number on Monday are slim, but who knows? You might get lucky. It's happened before! Posted Image

AWESOME alright, I will start calling everyday from Monday on. I would be unlikely for me to wait till Friday anyway. haha I want my husband home so thank you for reassuring me to just call everyday!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long after NOA2 till NVC sends out forms
I just got off the phone with the NVC I had some other questions knowing they wouldn't have my case number yet. From what I read the beneficiary should get something in the mail once they have the case but could take weeks so it is suggested you start calling about 1-2weeks after it was sent. For example, my NOA2 came on Monday, I told him I was sure I didn't have a number yet but he checked and told me it arrived today and is in the mail room. So now I know they have it 4 days after my NOA2. I will start calling every day from next friday on. If you need the number it is 603-334-0700 be prepared to hold for a while!!!! But the guy I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. I would assume they have your case number reading and waiting for your call. They are open till 12am EST so give them a call.

I have a co-sponsor for my husband a friend of mine is doing it I don't make 125% for a family of 6 ( I have 4 kids). I could never find a set LIST of their responsibilities. They did it for us knowing I was working and we live in different states. I'd never ask them to support my husband no matter what. As far as I am concerned they are just for paper purposes but I don't know the legal ramifications but will look around and see what I can find!

That's what my husband and I did. He came over for the month of November and we got married then he went back and in January we started the Visa stuff, we are now in the home stretch with it. I don't think your age will have anything to do with it since you are both young. If she 19 and you 63 that might raise some questions. As long as you have proof of your relationship and make enough to support her (or have a co-sponsor) then you should be able to get all the answer here. I'm doing it too without a lawyer DON'T USE ONE!!! That would be my best advice they slow you down and take your money. You can do it without one so many people here have done so too.

I'd have him say, if they ask what religion, tell them what if any he was born into and then say since whatever age I just have many questions.  I'm still growing and searching for the answers that none of us really have.  I do believe in the kindness of humanity and that we all could use more of it.  As far as religion I don't practice any organized religion but rather focus on helping out my fellow man.  Buying a homeless man a meal, filling up someone's gas at the station who doesn't have enough money.

All of these are things he MAY do it's not lying only evading the question.  If you make the response shiny enough and don't come in with an image of the devil or a nazi symbol (I'm not going to attempt to spell that thing hahaha) then he will be fine.

I know Speedwell we will have to get them together to go have a celebration pint AFTER (I pray for us both).  It's technically about 2.5 pounds.  He has the originals and a copy of everything so two of everything makes it seem like SO MUCH MORE!  My husband is so nervous and I don't get it. I keep telling him even if it's an embarrassing answer who cares...you are moving 4,000 miles and have a VERY slim likelihood of ever seeing this person from the embassy again.  Practicing might be good for him to feel more relaxed or make him more nervous! haha

I'll have to do some searching to find the return passport thing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 & 4

We have our case complete. We have our interview date. Medical is scheduled. NOW WHAT...

Where do the packet 3 & 4 come from?  Is there a place to print them offline and I've missed it? Do they send them to the beneficiary?  My husband and I are debating because he said it wasn't listed in the checklist they sent that had the list of stuff to bring but when he called the embassy a month ago they told us...

·      What is the packet III and packet IV-

packet 3-documents they want from beneficiary

packet 4-documents they send you to fill out and bring with beneficiary

Is there really a packet 3 or is just the 5 pounds of paper documents I shipped to him?

Packet 4 are they gonna mail it or we print it from somewhere?

I know back when we were considering the fiancé visa we saw there was a list of questions the petitioner fills out and then the beneficiary answers during the interview.  Is this done for the spouse? If so will they contact me with all the questions?

So close I'm just wanting to make sure I don't mess anything up now near the end.  Thanks for any tips!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsor I-864 and I-864A??

to add to this...

If your step mom has an income, and files jointly with your father, she should sign a completed I-864A because it is easier to submit the joint sponsorship that way.  On their tax transcripts her income will not be separate from his income and so their "household" income will be shown.  This way you are not tracking down an individual tax return for your father which shows his individual income.  Also it shows she knows what her husband is doing and agrees.  However if she doesn't work, she doesn't have to provide an I-864A.

I just filed my papers this afternoon .....crying.gif  So you're saying this op's stepmom should also file I-864A? I have a similar situation, my husband is still a graduate student so his income doesn't meet the 125% poverty line, so we're having his stepdad as the only joint sponsor since his income well exceeds the requirement. Attached we have his parents' tax returns for the last 3 years and his stepdad's pay stubs for the last 6 months. His mom and stepdad did file tax together for the past 3 yrs, but after researching online, I thought all we needed was my husband's 864 and his stepdad's 864, and thought that it would make everyone's life easier by not having to prove residency or relationship...

That's why I didn't file with his mom's 864A, because I thought his stepdad doesn't need her income to qualify so why bothercrying.gif So now will my case get rejected for this?

You can go ahead and get your medical done. I did it in advance and so did a bunch of other swedes. It's not a problem! If you have any other questions about it and other stuff please post them in the Scandinavians thread under the regional forum. There are always a lot of people there happy to answer questions!

They wrote me back:

We have no objections but want you to be aware of the one year rule that the medical expires within year from the date of the medical exam.

So im gonna do my medical next week :) scandinavians thread? I'm gonna try to find it :)

Hi,

Our case isnt complete yet at the NVC, I called friday and they said that the AOS is under review and the IV packet should be under review this week. Anyhow, I've called around to the doctors offices in Sweden and I managed to get an appointment june 13th in Gothenburg. This was the only one they had, Stockholm had none and is not taking any appointments after june 27th she said.

So im wondering if I can do this? go to the medical exam before NVC has completed my papers?

Dear VJs,

Kindly need assistance, my petitioned will be my husband (US citizen) and I m Indonesian with 2 young boys (age 14 and 11) and we will apply CR-1 and 2 visa.

We have read about CR1 documentations and seemed it clear enough for now, but we are not sure what are the documents for applying CR2 visa (visa for stepchildren)...and how will be the process of our visa, will it be hard to apply CR 1-2 considering the number of people in one family?

Anyone who has experienced or know about this, please kindly assist us

Many thanks in advance

Hi!

I was following the April group since my fiancé sent the I-129F package on Aprils 24th and the USPS website showed it was delivered 2 days later.

Since we received the NOA1 on May 1st, we are officially the first May filers!

Anyone else out there who got their NOA1 since Wednesday?

Good luck to everyone! smile.png

Hi!

I was looking at your timeline and we have the same dates! Got my NOA1 30th of April and Alien number was changed May 2. But still consider ours as May filers. I'm so happy I found this group! We can be of support to everybody! Good luck on our visa journeys! Hoping we can get an approval soon! luv.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 Part 6 Q13 Help (New Form)

How did you go submitting your "Total Income"? I'm only asking because I've had the same problem. I first sent in my I-864 stating my foreign earned income which they rejected, then I resent it with the Total Income which they also rejected. They have sent the case on to interview stage but I need to take in the amended form and want to give them what they want!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp needed with checklist letter for I-864

I have been meaning to post the outcome to this question for awhile as my husbands process is now complete and his visa has been approved.

I can only speak about what our experience was with the New Zealand Embassy but hopefully it's helpful.

The NVC was not happy with any amount I put on my I-864 but anything that is out of the ordinary seemed to confuse them in my experience.

On the interview day I took a blank copy of the I-864 and one with $0 in the 2012 income total as this is what actually matched my transcript after the income tax exclusion.

New Zealand actually used the one with the $0 in the blank but were extremely helpful and knew exactly how it should all work and didn't seem to have any issues. I did email them about this issue and would recommend ringing or emailing where you will actually be interviewed because they may be able to clear up the confusion.

They did want a current bank statement so make sure you take that. We had just sold our house to we took our signed contract so we could show them assets we had as well. They were happy with that and actually adjusted my I-864 for me on the day.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp needed with checklist letter for I-864

My husband and I are living in New Zealand. I am the American Citizen and he is applying for the greencard. We are up to the point where our case is complete but they are asking for more information to be brought to the interview once it's booked. Here's the checklist information as received by email today with what they are asking for:

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
NVC has completed the review of this case. However, our review of the
I-864, I-864EZ, I-864W or I-864A (if applicable) Affidavit of Support form
and supporting documents that you have submitted indicates that there is
still some missing documentation.

We are sending you the attached checklist, which indicates which
documents are still missing. You should obtain these documents and
forward them to the visa applicant so they may be presented at the final
interview. The applicant must present all required forms and documents,
including the missing items to the Consular officer at the visa interview.

Please pay specific attention to questions marked in the attached I-864,
I-864EZ, I-864W or I-864A checklist.

Failure to present the missing items indicated and/or to make the
necessary corrections at the visa interview could result in a denial or delay
in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant.

If you need a new I-864 form, please visit the Department of State website
at the following address: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and read the
Affidavit of Support (I-864) instructions. From there you can fill out the
form online and print it to send to the visa applicant for the interview.

You will be notified when an interview has been set. Do not contact
post regarding your interview date until you have been notified.

(My Name) Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, & Financial Evidence
Checklist)
Please review the instructions below then refer to the final page of this checklist for mailing
instructions.
I-864, Affidavit of Support Checklist
[x] The NVC recently completed our review of your visa case. While you meet the minimum qualifications for a visa
interview to be scheduled your Affidavit of Support contained one or more sections with missing or incorrect
information. Please review the additional instructions below then complete a new Affidavit of Support. (You can
download the I-864 form and instructions at http://www.uscis.gov/i-864.) Once you have completed the new
Affidavit of Support, please provide it to the principal applicant to bring to his or her visa interview. Do not submit
your new Affidavit of Support to the NVC, as doing so will reopen your case and cause processing delays.

In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...
[x] Item 13.a. You must include your _____2012__________________ tax and income information. If you did not file
Federal income taxes in __________2012___________ submit an explanation stating why you did not file.
[x] Items 13.a.1. The income you enter must match the total (gross) income reported on your most recent Federal
income tax return. If you filed Form 1040EZ, use the adjusted gross income instead.

The first time I sent in my I-864 I got a checklist and said my gross income did not match my tax transcript. I realized I had entered my income but because I have a foreign earned income exclusion my actual income on my tax return is $0. I resent this in $0 as my income and they have now sent me the checklist above also saying they don't have my tax information and that it doesn't match my total income.

They say all the information for my joint sponsor is submitted and ok so it is really just a matter of getting the details right on my form.

I ran two different people at NVC and got 2 different answers. Now I'm just confused

Any advice on exactly what they're looking for would be appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat happens if...
Thanks for the reply! For the first question, I just wanted to know if there were more updates that I would have during the initial review or if my status would stay the same up until NOA2 (of course, assuming I do not get an RFE).

Again, thanks for your time!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat happens if...
Hi all- I am an April filer and have been having some questions for those who have been trough the whole K1 process or those further through it than I am.

First off, what am I to expect to find from now to my NOA2 regarding the initial review? Since May 14, my status has said the Alien Reg. number has been changed, and I am not sure if that will change again, or if it will remain that way until I receive the NOA2.

Another question- how bad is it that I did not make copies of my I-129f packet? I didn't think it was necessary until I saw on here that everyone is doing it. I'm slightly worried that I will need the documents later! Of course, I know how I filled my packet out- I have the cover letter, letters of Intent and a few bits I sent in regarding evidence of having met all saved on my computer, so if I must, I can rebuild the packet. I'm just wanting to know how necessary that will be!

Thanks for any feedback!!

That's exciting news for CSC April filers! Perhaps we should all prepare, or was there an expedite on your case? According to VJ I still have about 30 days before I receive an update.
