K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting Times For Interview At Vancouver Consolate?
Thanks to both of you for your help! And I'm sure I will!
Now I just have to find a way to tell my parents that the wedding will be a lot sooner, and to start saving some money now! I'm even going out for an interview for a part time job today to start saving some money up for the wedding and to help my fiancé pay for all of the fees and bills that are upcoming with the interview and all of that coming up!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting Times For Interview At Vancouver Consolate?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you could tell me where I would find out approximately how long a wait for an interview is at the Vancouver embassy? I don't even have my NOA2 yet (should be soon) but I am trying to plan my wedding out and seeing if a specific date will work. If you could give me an approximation of how long it should be after we get our NOA2 or direct me somewhere that would give me more information, that would be wonderful! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem regarding getting a police certificate!
QUOTE (Nini & Bee @ Sep 12 2007, 02:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Kayleigh, is your fiance near an RCMP detachment? If so, he can just go in and request a police certificate from them and it will cover all of his residences throughout Canada. If he hasn't had a prior criminal record, it'll just be a simple name check and they might be able to do it on the spot. smile.gif

Yes he is by an RCMP. kicking.gif That is such a relief! When I read that they have to get a police report from all of the places they have lived, I was worried, and then when I talked to the gentleman from Kyle's hometown and he said that you cannot get them unless you come in person, I got so worried that we would have a huge problem! Thanks Nini and everyone else!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem regarding getting a police certificate!
QUOTE (fwaguy @ Sep 12 2007, 01:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
POLICE RECORDS
Inside Canada: Applicants who are physically present in Canada should contact their local police service or Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) office regarding criminal record check procedures. Applicants may obtain a certificate of no conviction issued by any Canadian police service so long as it notes that Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or the national criminal records repository was searched using the applicant’s name and date of birth. Applicants should ensure that the search includes all names that they have previously used, including maiden names, prior married names, or names used before Canadian naturalization. (Note: Because records checks based on name and date of birth only are sometimes less thorough than those based on fingerprints, U.S. diplomatic offices reserve the right to request that certain applicants obtain fingerprint-based searches from the RCMP.)

Applicants who have been convicted of a crime in Canada must contact their local RCMP office to obtain a “Certified Criminal Record Check,” which lists an applicant’s criminal history, indicating the section of the Canadian Criminal Code under which the applicant was charged, the disposition of the case, and the penalty imposed, if any. Obtaining a Certified Criminal Records Check requires submission of a fingerprint chart; the RCMP could take between two and twelve months to process a request for a Certified Criminal Record Check. (Note: If a namecheck by a police agency reveals a conviction record, that agency may be unwilling to issue a certificate and may refer the applicant to the RCMP for a Certified Criminal Record Check.)

Canadian pardons have no effect under U.S. law. Applicants who have been convicted of a crime in Canada that was subsequently pardoned must contact an RCMP office to obtain both a Certified Criminal Record Check and copies of their pardoned criminal record. Additional information is available online at: http://www.rcmp.ca/c...r2_e.htm#Obtain.

http://travel.state....er/C/Canada.htm

Does this mean then that if he just goes to his local office and gets one, it should be fine, it will cover him for the time he spent in his hometown before he moved?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem regarding getting a police certificate!
All right, So I'm trying to get my information together and get a head start on my packet 3. I called today to my fiancé's old town and asked about how we would go about getting a police certificate for him. The officer I spoke with informed me that the only way they issue police certificates there is in person, they will do NOTHING over the phone, through faxes, letters, or anything of the sort. This is a HUGE problem because my fiancé will not be able to go back to his old town for a visit or anything because all of his vacation time has been used and we were just in his hometown not too long ago (I wish we would have known this then, but it apparently takes 7 business days to issue one and we were only there for three business days, so it wouldn't have happened anyway). The man said that my fiancé could write in and request a letter and the man would write back a letter saying that they are only issued in person. So I don't know what to do. Do you think the embassy would accept something like that, or is my fiancé stuck?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHaven't received hard copy NOA2 yet
Our NOA2 was awarded to us on October 4th. I received an e-mail about it, and I was so happy! However, I still have not received our hard copy yet. I used the RFE trick to speak with someone and he said wait another week before calling back. I'm just wondering if my stuff will go to the NVC or not and what is going to happen? I'm really nervous because our wedding is planned for March 7th and I don't want anything to stop that from happening! helpsmilie.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAwarded NOA2. Now what?
Hey guys!

I received notification online that I was awarded my NOA2 on October 4th. I still haven't received my NOA2. I have to call them back this week - I tried last week and they said call back this week. So I will do that. But in the meantime, I still don't have an NOA2 hardcopy.

Anyway, I'm just unsure of what happens next and where to go from here. What about the NVC. How long do I wait to call and where can I contact them? Any other information would be helpful! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThey want me to pay an extra $340?!
So I called today to find out about where my NOA2 is and why I haven't got it. The first guy told me I was wrong and I had not been awarded an NOA2 yet (umm hello? Then your whole website is wrong because it's telling me I am). Then finally he accepted that I was right and they'd have one out to me in a few days.

Then the next guy I talked to when I call back after the idiot I talked to the first time told me I had to file something for a new one and that I have to pay $340!? I'm sorry but I am not paying for theirs or the USPS's mistake.
Kayleigh+KyleFemaleCanada2007-10-22 16:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is my NOA2 date?
So, if you read a couple of my posts that I have had recently, you'll see that I was e-mailed on October 4th notifying me that we had been approved for the NOA2, but that I hadn't received a hard copy. USCIS wanted us to pay $340 for new one. But not long after I had called them on the 22nd, our approval date on the USCIS page changed from the 4th to the 22nd. Then today I get home, and in the mail is our NOA2! I'm so happy we don't have to pay for another NOA2, but does this mean I should change our NOA2 date to the 22nd and not October 4th? Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Scheduling
I call and email all of the time. I know they know my voice at the embassy in Nigeria. The operator hangs up on me as soon as she hears me lol I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if we are having an interview for April. I'm praying that it's so.

My case was recieved by Jamaica in Jan. They told me when I called that I would have an April interview. Have you tried calling the embassy in his country? Check Embassy info and try calling and emailing them. The embassy in Jamaica told me to call on Monday because they will know the date in April. If you email put your case number in the subject line. I recomend calling for the best results.

If anyone can help alleviate the frustration I have with the NVC I would greatly appreciate it. My case was complete on January 29th, and my husband still doesn't have an interview. I'm wondering how long it usually takes for an interview to be scheduled after a case is complete? He's going to the consulate in Lagos, Nigeria. Thanks for any help!

To anyone who's going through this process with the Embassy in Lagos....I just want to know what a general waiting time is once the case is complete at the NVC. I've been reading through old posts, and I'm starting to see an alarming pattern of months and months of wait time if you are filing for a CR-1 visa, as opposed to a K1. Information is greatly appreciated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJob letter for I-864
Hello everybody. My problem is that I'm here with my wife in Ecuador while we get the papers, and I don't want to go back until she gets her visa, since we're newlyweds. The thing is, I don't have a job currently in the US but the company i left said I can go back to work there whenever I want. Should I get a letter from my old boss stating that, or just have my dad sign on as a co-sponsor? Also, should this job letter be notarized? Thanks a lot.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresa I-864 "what if...." question
correct, its not income minus assets, its the difference between poverty level times five. example. if you make less than 16,500, let's say you make 13,000 then the difference is 3,500, so you ahve to show 3,500x5 in assets (17,500) if you make enough in income, then you dont need to show assets. it's as simple as that :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI'm feeling a little stupid right now
You should be all right, it shouldnt take that long to schedule an interview. we just did it in ecuador, and it only took 6 days from when she called. hang in there, it will be all right :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWill this cause a problem?
I agree with yu and dan, sounds like your income and assets are good enough, but don't try to lie. that could stop your spouse from ever getting to come in. also, every consulate has a different take on what exactlly they require. call them and see if they can shed some more light. good luck!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED!!!
My wife got approved today!!! i'm so happy i could cry. we filed in ecuador, so her interview was in the Guayaquil consulate. She said everything went well, they just made her wait almost 5 hours, barely asked her any questions, and spent most of the time reviewing the papers. Please don't hesitate to ask us questions. Thank the lord!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService Center Address???
I am getting together my K1 packet as we speak. After reviewing the sample cover letter, I have a question. The address to my service center? I live in Ohio and after research, it looks like my processing center is California, however the guide says I need to send the packet to the Dallas lockbox? Can someone clarify for me? I appreciate the help! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAverage time from NOA1 to K1 approval?(I129F)
Thanks for the help. I know anything can happen and nothing is absolute, I just want to get a rough idea on a time frame. I have a vacation scheduled for this fall(November) and believe I may need to change the dates in the event that the K1 visa is approved and my fiancee gets the green light to move over here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAverage time from NOA1 to K1 approval?(I129F)
I have tried to research this prior to my post, but I am still a little confused. I have read many members timelines as well. Is there a post listing the average time from NOA1 to K1 approval? I see that the California Service Center lists an average of 5 months for approval(NOA2), but what is the average time it takes for fiancees to receive their Visa?

Ok, so I have researched this and have a couple more questions. First, can I, the petitioner, pay the Visa fee from here in the U.S. to BPI online? The fee is $350? I need the NVC receipt number and my fiance(e)s passport number?

I received my NOA2 July 18th, and today telephoned the NVC. They received my packet 2 days ago. My question is, now what? Can I schedule medical yet or do I need to wait for the Manila Embassy to receive my package. Not sure how soon I can schedule medical/interview?

Thanks for the help!

I did so, and it was not a problem. You just have to say a customs officer that you dont intend to stay there for a long time. (I stayed there for two months, it was also ok).

Amandas1216...

We can all relate with you! This process is a LOT of waiting and a LOT of frustration. However, please dont allow it to come between you two! As frustrated as I am at times I must keep in mind that my frustration is with the Government not with my hubby or my family or my co-workers. Thank goodness VJ gives us an outlet to vent and people to relate with! As each day passes with no new info we get one day closer!

On a side note I had my honeymoon in Istanbul Turkey and it was soooo beautiful! I have been spending my sad evenings looking through our pictures and making a scrapbook! Keeps me occupied and warms my heart a bit!

Keep your head high and know that the end of the tunnel is near!

Yes I received my case number yesterday as well and I was able to log in to the payment portal but they have not been invoiced yet. You do not have to send in your DS3032 first. You just have to wait until they finish invoicing. I have all my stuff ready just waiting to be allowed too lol

Spoke with a very nice guy named Annan today at NVC. He stated that they are trying very hard to get all cases inputed in 10-15 business days after they receive them from the service centers. He noted that today is business day # 11 and not to be suprised if it is in the system later tonight or tomorrow! I am going to wait until late tomorrow to call again and hope and pray that I get a case#! I just have this strange feeling that today is my day!!!

Just called in today and received our NVC number. I had called yesterday and was told that they just received it yesterday and that it would be 4-6 weeks before the number. Thanks to what I read here, I just called again today, and the number was available to the AVR system. Nice! Now what? More reading...

BLH

 GO BLH!!!!

The NVC is making some progress this week it seems! There were no NOA2's done on 7/9 or 7/10 and my approval was 7/11! BLH seeing you got your case number today from a 7/8 approval is like the best news ever! Congrats! Now I have jittery belly all over again!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC - NOA2 to NVC Delay

Still waiting on case number.

My heart skipped a beat when after the operator took my receipt number, she asked for beneficiary's birthday. Then my heart plummeted when she said, "Oh wait, you don't have a case number yet."

Then she said to expect something in 6-8 WEEKS!!!!!!! Panicked, I asked, "What happened to 10-15 business days?" She asked, "Oh, who told you that?" EVERYONE I'VE SPOKEN WITH EVERYDAY I'VE CALLED SINCE JULY 28.

I'm panicked!

Dont panic Tercerero! I have the same approval date as you and I am still not so patiently waiting. Our cases were received at NVC on August 1st and we are just waiting for them to be entered into the system. I called this morning and got one of the nicest ladies ever and she did lots of searching in their system to see what is going on. She then said it would be finished by the end of the week. We are getting close!

As far as the timeframes they give... They just have scripted lines that they are told to read from! So the 15 business days or 20 - 30 days or 45 days are all just lines they feed you to get you off the phone. Call everyday and try to get your number!

Type a letter explaining your wait/frustrations and include petitioner and beneficiary's name, date of birth and receipt#. Attach a scanned copy of your NOA2 and send away!
