IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMail from NVC - Missing Doc - PCC (Mumbai - India)
QUOTE (PK and PK @ Aug 6 2009, 01:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

We recently submitted our DS-230 with all documents including PCCs, both - Passport Police Certificate as well as CID Police Certificate. However, we now get an email from NVC stating Missing Document - Passport Police Certificate. Though the NVC Operator mentioned that our case is complete and not to send any documents to the NVC, we were a little confused on recieving this email from NVC.

We had a few Queries.
1. The Passport Police Certificate was on a dot matrix printer...could that be the reason for not considering it as an official document? But that is what we get here in India. Is there any other kind of Passport Police Certificate that we need to get?

2. The email says that we need to carry the Passport Police Certificate at the time of the interview. So does this mean that we will anyways get the Interview Letter?

We will anyways re-apply for the Passport Police Certificate and carry it along at the time of Interview.

Please help.

Can you call NVC and get followup confirmation that your case is complete? I know false RFE are common. When you call the automated recording does it say "the nvc has completed processing of your case and forwarded your petition to the embassy..." or "on such date we mailed a request for additional document to petitioner" then call and talk to another operator etc. get it confirmed what's what

Hi,

Now I am really, really frustrated with NVC...my checklist response to their RFE was delivered at NVC's premises last Monday so over a week ago (I know I had a tracking number) and it is not even in their system yet as 'received.' Seems like for over a week now they have not even opened the envelope to scan the barcode! mad.gif

Does anyone have any idea how long I should wait before sending them an extra copy in case they lost it? AOS docs and DS230 packet is usually opened and scaned into the system within 2-4 days...is that possible that RFE go some other way?

mine took about 2 weeks, and when I couldn't log into nvc one day i called about 10 times until I heard case complete

Well I have submitted the documents to NVC even though there is a big relief I am so very nervous. I met with my lawyer yesterday and she gives me some advice and says she is so very impressed with how much I have put into the papers and it is a really great results. I said yes I have had weeks and weeks of biting my nails so I try to keep these forms working going over and over. She said that I was doing all the work and I said well it is my life not hers, I am paying her for your advice and years of immigration experience not to be my secretary. I hope everything is smooth but if there is a problem the lawyer is there knowledgeable of my case and how to handle any occurrence. I have some worry about question #20 of the DS-230 suddenly I forgot to change to "present" where my life lives. The new forms has capability of putting "present" in the computer but my wife already signed the document weeks ago and I don't want to wait for a new copy I will follow-up if they give me an RFE for putting date instead of present *sigh*
I was very thorough but only included the exact necessary papers submitted in the packet. One really good advice I learned here and from my lawyer only give them exactly what they are asking for if you submit too much then may be a problem, and when wife and I discuss the interview process i think same advice is applicable . We are apart almost 8 month my god this is sooo difficult! Thanks to all for your posts here it has been so much help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat should we do now Please
Wow I'm so sorry.
I always feel that it is best to SHOW evidence to answer a question asked, rather than himm and haww trying to remember. the financial questions when you submit the application and the time to interview can change, so if you were to answer a question like "how much does your fiancee have in the bank" would fall under an evidence question, where you can pull out the very latest bank statemnt you just got from her and show the interviewer. I know that for my wife's interview we packed evidence at time of interview she had everything organized and knew where to get the information quickly and confidently and this confidence and organization made a nervous time go quickly and not awkwardly.

In our case the questions asked were easily supported by evidence with a verbal confirmation. Can you answer in depth how you prepared for your interview and what exactly you brought in your interview support material to show the interviewer?

you can gain some valuable lessons from this, unfortunately it tugs so hard at your heart you have to face the process with positive confidence.

Is it possible you will get married and refile under CR1 then having your wife on site for interview help, I'm not sure in Morocco, but it really did help us I am sure. My wife was prepared when the VO asked is your husband here with you, and she pulled out my passport to show him.

As far as the other questions about what are her brother's hobby's? seriously these are so far fetched obviously you can't prepare every answer to a questions like these, but if you were to spend some time in contact with her family, which I am sure you have done on some level, would make you feel comfortable answering questions that may answer generalized questions that will satisfy the specific questions.
What movie did her brother last see, well I don't know about that he is really into science fiction movies so I bet it was something like that..
Anyway you have a lot of work and decisions to make, but as we all have learned, you are planning to live a lifetime with your Fiancee, so it is worth the journey either it being bumps or smooth.

Good Luck and I wish you success in near future

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage abroad on a K-1
Hi All,

I recently got engaged to a Filipina. We have been dating for a couple of years now and are ready to take the next step. Our plans are for her to move to the US. After lots of research (on this site) we've decided that the K-1 is the way to go. Our problem though is we would like to have the wedding in the Philippines since she will be moving here and it will be quite a while before she can see her family again. To me it looks like the K-3 is the only way to do this but to do that it would add quite a bit of time since we wouldn’t be able to file the K-3 until after the wedding. We were thinking about waiting for the K-1 to be approved then have a wedding over there then flying back here to make it official in the states. Is this possible or am I just grasping for straws. Also she dose have a B1/b2 visa right now.

Thanks, Jeremy

Hi All,

Im a bit confused and shocked today. I received my NOA2 today just 30 days after my NOA1. I thought for sure it was a RFE but to my surprise it was not! So its caught me a little off guard I didnt really think i would see it for a couple more months but the CSC must be burning through them. So my question is what is my next step? The NOA2 says its only valid from 3/18/2009 thru 7/17/2009. I thought the next step was for the I-129 to be sent to the NVC but the notice says it was forwarded to the listed consulate. So do I wait to hear from the consulate? (Manila) Or do I make contact with them myself?

The instructions for the 129F form ask for a copy front and back of my birth certificate. When applying for my passport last year I ordered an official copy of my birth certificate. It is on official paper, embossed and stamped and was official enough to receive my passport. Do I make a copy of this document, which doesn't really have a back, do I have to send this official copy in, or am I looking for something different?
They also request a birth certificate number and date issued. There are several numbers to choose from. Are they asking for the Child's birth number? What about the date issued is it the issue date in 2008 or when I was born?
I am referring to a State of Illinois birth certificate.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I had the same question about my birth certificate. You have the one you need just make a copy of the front and you'll be fine. I attached another sheet of paper saying that there was no back to my BC and signed and dated it but I dont think you need to go that far. I was just nervous wacko.gif To you other question the other posters are telling you right. Go to the guide section and look at the example form of the I-129 and you'll see how to answer that one. Who said life is fair?

From what I saw during the timelines, CSC was the one way behind VSC.

Depends on the number of applications probably. In fact, they are shipping some petitions to CSC.

Good luck on your campaign!

Oh I agree, life isn't fair. But our government is supposed to be. It's probably unintentional, but it is discriminatory towards citizens who happen to have addresses closer to Vermont.

This graph will pretty much clarify the current situation: http://www.visajourn...h...&page=times

But those graphs are generated from the timelines that people here input data for, they do not show everyone in the country applying, right?

According to the USCIS processing time - they have currently an additional 1,123,058 unripe preference relative petitions awaiting processing.

correct, VJ is a small percentage of all applicants. If we want to do whats fair, they should start working on cases of ppl who have been waiting for 6 months and beyond, some ppl have been waiting a year and a half. thats just wrong!
i was a CSC filer who waited a painful amount of time.
This process can cause lots of emotional pain and stress. We just need to be patient and be prepared for a long wait.
best wishes!

Do you have a clue on how many thousands of complaints were filed against the 2 processing agencies especially VSC? And the results of the complaints, NO MUCH!!!! In 2007 they were over loaded with petitons 1.5 million more due to rates being raised.
Its just now they are getting on the track especially VSC. I remember in 2008, VSC was processing the "Honey Bunnies" petitions as soon as they came in and left the K3 and the CR-1 "the ones who already married and had families" to whistle dixie. Its a long, grueling, mentally emontional , exhausting process , even for one who is approved in 20 days or so. So sit down, hold on, its going to be a bumpy ride. You cant tell any goverment agency anything, especially to hurry up. Complaining only makes the wait worse. Start preparing for your next step of your journey. Nobody said it was going to be easy.

Yes, yes, yes, and you had to march 6 miles through the snow to get to school everyday ... I like how it's all people who have been approved by the CSC who are like, dude, why don't you just chill out man?

Chill out man.. if your not happy with the answers you get then dont start these threads... This is I think the third or fourth thread youve started about this topic what are you expecting from VJ? On a similar thread when someone asked why their NOA2 was taking so long you wrote this

"I would say most likely you're being penalized (alright, at least unintentionally) for not having met your fiancee online and/or through a dating agency and/or within a couple months of proposing. Sadly, it seems our numbers are few."

I realize your upset and frustrated about this but do you really have to rain on everyone that has made it? Its only been two months for you and you knew you had a lot more than that to wait coming into this. Only now that the CSC is speeding their side up you cry foul. Do you really feel bad for everyone at the VSC or is this really just about you? Im sorry that a few of us have been lucky and your still waiting. But dont rip into the people here because you cant get everything you want. From the look of Igors's list the VSC is in the middle of December that means you have another month and a half well with in the 6 month time period. Good luck to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F at VSC? Notice how it's only CSC folks writing "OMG approved in 30 days?"
Just an idea but maybe the reason for CSC to be moving so fast is because they need to clear their backlog to take on part of the VSC load. AS which we are seeing them take on some of the load now. Its looked like for a while now that the VSC was starting to fall behind. So just maybe the CSC cleared some room to help out the VSC and that way the CSC wont fall behind by helping out. Either way you look at it neither one is falling behind the six month period but the VSC is getting close.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFlight through JFK to get temporary EAD?
I was wondering if anyone had done this (again, my apologies if this topic has been covered), but has anyone ever gone out of their way to get a flight through JFK so the fiancé could get a temporary EAD? My fiancé is from western Canada (a few hours from Vancouver to be exact) and I want him to get a temporary EAD, but the problem is None of the average flights from western Canada to Ohio come through New York, since it not along the way. I was wondering if people have purchased multiple sets of flights (like one to JFK and then a later flight on another ticket) or how one would go about "building" a flight in order to get the temporary EAD. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting each other
My fiancé has come down into the States from Canada twice since our visa has been in process. The first time, I was in the hospital and he was worried about me, and so he decided he wanted to drive to see me. The border patrol officer really didn't give him much trouble, other than asking him if he was going to screw up the visa and gave the usual lecture on doing things the "smart way" (seriously, why would we come down and get married now after already starting this process? It would be pointless!). Bless his heart - he didn't even make it out of the state of Washington before I was out of the hospital and we were planning a last minute flight for me to come out there to spend a week with him instead!
The second time wasn't really for a visit. I planned for my flight home this last trip to depart from Bellingham, WA because it is SO much cheaper to fly domestically than internationally. I was paranoid that we would be turned away at the border, so I brought a copy of our I-129F, a copy of our NOA1, my printed itinerary, and a letter from my fiancé's supervisor saying that he was expected to be at work on the coming Monday. The border officer didn't ask to see anything but our passports, asked us where we were going, what we were doing, how we met, gave us the usual lecture, and asked me "Ma'am, is he treating you well? Is he treating my fine American citizen well?" and I laughed and said yes, and he let us through.
The border definitely won't always turn you away. Just be prepared and don't do anything stupid while you visit. Otherwise, you should be A-OK! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting Times For Interview At Vancouver Consolate?
Thanks to both of you for your help! And I'm sure I will!
Now I just have to find a way to tell my parents that the wedding will be a lot sooner, and to start saving some money now! I'm even going out for an interview for a part time job today to start saving some money up for the wedding and to help my fiancé pay for all of the fees and bills that are upcoming with the interview and all of that coming up!
